Guys iam 40 years old , I can't get enough, iam a courier,I listen to these same songs ,for 11 hours a day straight over ,and over again , I've made ,1900$ in one week , better than any drug, thanks jj Cale ,for keeping me alive.
In the 21st century, at the end of February 2024... and hearing this man's music for the 1st time; I've become hooked after only a few cords of the intro. Song One. Thank you Lord... Feeling blessed you saw fit to keep me from missing out on this one.
He has been one of my favorites since the 70's. Him and his crowd,Leon Russel, Delaney and Bonnie, Mad Dog and Englishmen, Eric Clapton, Derek and the Dominoes. Look them up, they were the best of the best. I only saw him once in San Francisco... playing as an opening band for some Country singer I never heard of. Just him and a conga player.
Most underrated - of the musicians we know about. I bet there are thousands of fine muscians we will never be aware of, yet provide pleasure fo those lucky enough to hear. Here is to music and the individuals who toil in obscurity yet create beauty.
I’ve never heard anyone sound better live. I’m a die hard Stones fan but never have I heard a sweeter and more soothing sound than what JJ kicks out on this show in particular. Amazing.
Ridin' in my Jeep in the mountains, listening to this, just slinking along.😂😊 Life is good. I discovered Spiritualized thanks to, 'Call Me The Breeze'. That has been HUGE in my journey! Thanks J.J. Cale..... smooth ❤
Was lucky enough to discover JJ, in my youth. He was on a solo tour in mid 70's...played two 45 minute shows which was called the Crest at Wrightsville Beach, NC. Witnessed with awe the first 45, ...JJ in his smoothest, finest coolness....stood up and said......you just had your 45 minutes of JJ. Cale....and walked off . We all had to leave for the next group. My girl wouldn't hide, and I had to fly. .... smiles.
What a songwriter/musician. I love JJ's style. Thanks Mr. John Cale, your music has made my life sweeter. Thanks & appreciation to Mr. Dewey Paul for the mixing & recording of this show. WOW! Great job!
Been listening to the great JJ Cale for most of my life. I am 63 now and it brings back so many memories of my brother who has passed away from liver cancer. Hepatitis that he got in Vietnam in the late 1960's. I was the little brother who looked up to him because he turned me on to this music and much more.
He is arguably the greatest, having been a lyricist , composer and a versatile musician ! Very underrated but so so talented ! I sleep to JJ cale and wake up to him !! Since many many months !
I was first introduced to his music (Naturally) when I was about 13. I really loved it but didn't really get back to him until my late teens. After that he's the guy I have listened to more than any other music. Am 45 now and hes a part of my life. Deeply cool music from a deeply cool musician.
I love this show. I was the Front of House audio engineer for this. I subsequently released an all JJ Cale tribute CD titled Dewey Paul presents CALE (2012), 16 tracks mastered by Vinton Fountain, who was actually the monitor engineer on this show. Just an interesting historical tid bit for you. Although parts of this show were filmed by a German film crew and included in the 'To Tulsa And Back' documentary, the source of this mix was from the front of house soundboard. I remember this because of the fade in on Call Me The Breeze. This happened because the master was direct to a Tascam CDRW-5000 burner patched from the Soundcraft Series IV console. I didn't get the second disc in the burner ready on time and missed the beginning of Breeze... I faded it in after I hit record. -Dew )
That's great, Dewey! You seem to have put everything "up front" in this mix, if this TH-cam upload is your mix. The great "live" mixes always are best served by putting everything "up front". I'm not an engineer. What's great about JJ Cale is that he just did his own thing, he let it rip and wasn't interested in becoming famous. This show sounds great because everything feels "up front" so it captures the essence of a great show. When you are at a great show, every comes at you, sonically, so it makes sense to just shove everything at the listener. God bless the engineers! Rock on JJ, rock on everyone...

Been a Fan since the 70ds but this is new to me and it got my ass up and working and jamming, sadly so many people do not realize his contributions and how many people his music made lots of fame and fortune for
Eric Clapton has always openly admired JJ Cale!!! Why wouldn't he? John's music is unique as is Eric's. when they play together the ambience & synchronisation is miraculous!!! When I was an 8 year old kid in boarding school I had to be able to say 'Eric Clapton is the lead guitarist of Cream, with Ginger Baker & Jack Bruce' Failure resulted in severe beatings! Wasn't difficult to learn but at that stage in my life I handed tubbled across JJ! When I did I was enthralled.. have great respect for both musicians and associates. Fantastic that, at 60 I can still get great pleasure from what is truly heartfelt soul music e Ben tho' it's the blues & nothing but the blues!
Unbelieveable guy and to many people don't know of him. Been hooked ever since buying Okie when it was first released. Time and moves meant I only kept the best 100 of my vinyls Okie is one of them. This live session is fantastic and the recording balance, for a live session, brilliant. God Okie was released 50 years ago and I was 25.
