    My dad was raised in Tulsa Oklahoma back in JJ's time. He told me stories are going to the honky-tonks listen to him drinking beer. I was raised listening to his music it's timeless. I'm 60 years old now. I miss the passing of both men very much. Fond memories of my dad listening to this music. Thank you for sharing the new JJ album much appreciated 👍

    Now I know why Waylon Jennings sang "JJ Cale is a hero, the best I've ever heard. Ya gotta sing a little louder Hoss, I can't hear the words. Some folks call him rock and roll, some folks call it blues. But I detect a country soul and I've seen his cowboy shoes".

      Before they all passed on; I heard that JJ Cale, Roy Orbison, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard and Tony Joe White and maybe even more I didn't hear about, were wanting to do an album together. I wish it would've happened.

    I grew up listening to Clapton, I am 60now. Cocaine is still one of my guitar jams, I never knew who this mysterious jj cale was. Not until crossroads music festivals. I never knew he had a successful band, till about 40. He should have been more recognized sooner, love his approach with his almost effortless style

    JJ Cale was a true original, perhaps the most talented and creative musician that most people never knew about except through the recordings of more well-known musicians like Eric Clapton, Jerry Garcia, John Mayer, Jeff Beck , Mark Knopfler and Neil Young. His music is timeless and never ceases to astound me.

    Since I was a schoolboy with the Albums Naturally, Really, Okie & Troubadour, drafted to army (#5, Shades), studying - while Grasshopper & #8 was playing, starting a job with Travel Log, marriage (Number 10, Closer To You), becoming Manager with the Guitar Man and To Tulsa and Back, becoming Father and divorced on The Road to Escondido, retired with Rewind and Roll on - J.J. I heard JJ back when Crazy Mama was a hit on the radio back in the 70's, but didn't know it was him....or didn't remember. And learned more about JJ due to the Clapton/JJ Road to Escondido. Quickly bought almost all his albums. I had no idea he wrote much of the music I listened to. Call me the breeze by Leonard Skynyrd, Clapton's covers, Neil Young and others. Then he passed a couple years later. Clapton and Friends - Call Me the Breeze album is well worn here. So grateful for his music. I can relate to all of your comments. Looking at 60 next month.... I'll spend part of it listening to JJ.

    Merveilleuse découverte. Inimitable JJ Cale. Musique cool, vibrante, émouvante, qui touche instantanément l'âme. Merci Christine Lakeland. Moi aussi j'écoutais en boucle les albums Troubadour et Naturally en 1976. C'est toujours le même plaisir aujourd'hui.

    I remember, in college in the 70’s, some of us discovering the album “Naturally”. Everyone of us had different tastes in music, but all agreed that this album, and artist, was just wonderful.
    And that is still the case today.

    Timeless and just perfect, I’ve found my musical soul in JJ’s music, the layers never get old, genius, his music was produced to be listened to repeatedly because there is always a new layer to hear

      Funny, considering the minimalist approach JJ took to his music. That is a mark of true genius. RIP, Mr. Cale.

    Always was aware of JJ but never followed his music or saw what he look like. But recently looking at a Leon Russell video with JJ I got to see what a great guitarist he was and what a fantastic wife he had. A little late but now I'm a fan.

    I can't believe how i didn't latch onto J.J. Cale back in prime time. I guess I was too much into Skynyrd the Allmans Aerosmith and Hawkwind back then. Oh well better late than never I guess but this is almost never. I have to thank Lynyrd Skynyrd for my intro to J.J .Cale through their cover of Call Me The Breeze which I first heard on the live album One More For The Road. Thank You and God Bless all the Skynyrd boys and girls who have departed this god for saken world . I have no doubt that we will have a really fine time in Heaven when it is all said and done. If the Skynyrd boys and girls were God's childern well that tells me God is saying we should all rock on when when we get together up yonder.
    Love and Peace to y'all. Amor y Paz. Siempre !!!!!!!

    One of the great things about j.j. is that he sings the verse and doesn't hardly ever repeat it and then the song is over, on to the next one.... Much respect for the widespreadpanic, they're a jam band and they were molded from j.j. and all good 🤔⚖️ I just sometimes wish they would stop and start their new song without another 20 minutes of jamming.... And they are awesome this is only a compliment to j.j. Cale

    • @flaracer32
      @flaracer32 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think he done most of mixing, played several instruments his self. He started out as a board man and progressed from there. When Eric Clapton, among others, praise the music and makes John a millionaire you have to know how great he was
      Listening for 30 years. And John Prine to the mix as well.
