My wife, Karen, died ten years ago and today would have been her 67th birthday. Playing this brings back the memories. Karen adored Pink Floyd and one of the best things I ever did as a surprise was buy two tickets for one of the Earl's Court, Division Bell concerts. Couldn't get a ticket without it being part of a coach from Wolverhampton package, I paid over the odds for two tickets and placed them in an envelope, cellotaping this to the patio window. From the lounge I said that something was in the garden and could she see what it was. Her delighted scream will stay with me forever, as will the concert. For you Karen - Shine on your crazy diamond. I love you still.
I saw the same concert in New Orleans, Louisiana Superdome in 1994. Till this day that was and is my favorite and best concert ever. Sorry for your loss.
People say this song is overrated. Yes, a masterpiece like this deserves it. Who's here listening to this masterpiece in 2024? I leave my comment here so that when someone decides to leave a "like", I get a notification and reminds me that I have to listen to this song again.💜

Peace joy and love in this Christmas season of 2024! Pink Floyd's music will live on forever in many forms... we all share in its excellence and its beauty.... rock on people!!!🎉🎉
In 1971 I returned from overseas tours in foreign lands courtesy of Uncle Sam. Started listening to them after hearing them overseas and at 72 years old now I still listen to them and will till I no longer can.
Musica linda y viajera. Saludos desde Australia
Oh, you are just a kid. I do my work at night listening to PF. Got some new speakers to boost it. Always great music and my daughters also appreciate it.
I'm Brazilian, and started to listen Pink Floyd with 18 and now I have 64 and still listening to this fantastic and Awesome band, for me, one of the best in the world of all time
Yep 100 % .....❤ I'm 70...!! In n out of bands ....wish i had the drive n dedication to survive like david gilmore...!!! But just wasn't meant to be...pink floyd fan since day 1......!!!!
Can’t get PF out of my mind. And not a bad thing at all. Problem is that once I got Bluetooth hearing aids, my wife goes nuts when I have to ask her what she said! Have to pause my phone to hear her because of the non stop music!! Now she regrets pushing me years to get them!! At 72 these are the last years up to the 90’s that I kept up with music. What’s the point? 50’s to late 80’s is all I need. Floyd is thought provoking, intelligent lyrically, and musically the finest music written and performed. Saw them in early 90’s Oakland Coliseum. The best.
I've heard every Pink Floyd concert online that there is. I've even heard this one. And I still get shivers and goose bumps during some of the passages. No other band does this to me. I'm 74 and I've heard this music a hundred times, at least. David Gilmour's musicality is unparalleled in rock music. He deserves a knighthood!
If this does not give you goose bumps a time or two then you will never get it. THIS, yes THIS is music. What more can you say. Done over 30 years ago and nothing today can touch it. Wow
Goose bumps, like being there that night. I wasn’t, but they played the same show that year at Syracuse University inside the Carrier Dome and it was a religious experience for me. This is indeed music.
Been a Pink Floyd fan since childhood, way back in the 80s listening to them on cassette tapes! It was late '88 or early '89, my family and I were living in Forney, TX, a little country town at the time, and we had this video rental mart we'd go to on Fridays. While Dad and I were looking for something new to rent for the weekend, the store started playing this concert and, at eight years old, I immediately recognized the opening of Shine On You Crazy Diamond and was like, "That's Pink Floyd!"
@@olsenlibra623 what a cool story! DSOTM is the first record music I remember resonating with me. I was about 4 or 5 so mid 70's and I've been riding that wave ever since. I don't mind that I've never heard them play live, in the flesh... Still flows under my skin and deeper. 🌼
People, I am old enough and ugly enough to go back to the late 60s and early 70s when I discovered Pink Floyd. Here we are in 2023 and I still must admit PF was the greatest British rock band ever!! Never to be forgotten!!!
Wat about rolling stones the Beatles,. Pynk in the top. Three. Been following. Them sinse . Syd.. barret. Daze... Seen them perform.. 12.tymesthey.are.pynk.freud.. a lifestyle ..
My life partner, Giancarlo, listened to Pink Floyd songs every day. He played his red guitar along. He passed away in 2019 from cancer. Certainly the songs did him good.❤
When I was yung (17) in 1965. my freand and worker-partner played solo guitar of Beatles in Park of Russian Rocket City Korolev. Following after Saint Music I tried to escape from USSR to England. WAS put into prison. 3 years. In 70s I learned english by miself in All Union State Library of Foreign Literature and Then - There were a Miracle: according to the Will of God By the will of God, despite all conditions and obstacles, I got at the British Embassy in Moscow and watched the film “Jesus Christ Superstar”! My Holly Love to Pink Floyd began with the WALL !
I listened to PF for 6 years straight 83 to 89,as my father died from leukemia. I was 13 when I first connected with PF. Helped me cope. That and weed. 54 now and examining my own mortality. Hope you are doing well now.
Music is one of the most universal art forms in society. Almost everyone relate to it. To isolate a certain instance of it as 'art' does not make sense. But like all expressions of art some are of a higher standard than others. This is also dependent on the observer though. Art is a very subjective subject. BUT I understand what you are trying to express Arne. For you this is the ultimate expression of the music art form. And I tend to agree. Though there are many more - it depends on your evaluation criteria. Peace to the entire world - we should listen to music more and hate each other less. Here's to a world of headbanger politicians.....
David Gilmour is a musical anomaly, no other guitarist can make the guitar sing the way he does, it's magical and no wonder Pink Floyd has been my favorite Rock group since 1981 when the Wall came out, my buddies and I all became huge followers, I'm now 57 and will be 58 in a few weeks and their music still moves me 😎 thank God I not only have amazing kids and grandkids now but I still feel young listening to Pink Floyd ❤
There will never be musicians like this again! The 70 and 80 produced some amazing bands, of which we will never hear likes of this again. Today's music doesn't have substance or soul....
I'm 82 and I'm revisiting this band. Pink Floyd has no equal in their field. Bravo! This is my all time fav band and thank you so much for your music - I can't get enough of it.
I'm 61 years old and heard Pink Floyd for the first time when I was about 14 or 15. Since then, the music has never let go of me, and even today, after so many years, it still touches me deeply.
Life without this music this music have been unimaginable. It has saved the lives of a few abusing men throughout the years as well. Comfortably Numb specifically. It could always take me down from that point of rage, so it probably saved mine as well.
In 1975, i was listening to music on an album. Never heard before. Ask who was the group was. My friend said Pink Floyd. It is 2024, I'm still listening 🎶 🎶. Never heard anyone better. Thank-you for making excellent music. SISSY
I'm 74 years old and I will never get over the feeling I get listening to Pink Floyd. It all started for me with the release of Dark Side of the Moon. When ever I need a religious experience I put in my ear buds (now) and put on Pink Floyd.
For billions of years, there was life on the planet, but never, until recently, was there a guitar solo like the one in Comfortably Numb. I consider myself, and all of you, extremely lucky to live in that very short period where you can listen to it, again and again, and enjoying what could very well be the most powerful piece of music, without ever getting tired of it.
Simply the best there ever was, I think so and I'm 74 ,my son agrees, he's 39, my grandson is also blown away by them and he's 18 . Need I say more. Thanks p.f. for the greatest music ever , people will be listening and in awe 100 years from now and beyond
The difference between PINK FLOYD and other rock bands is that they associate their work with Space... And this means that their creative message is going up.. Spreading all over the Earth, regardless of what territory people live in, and what nationality they are.
@@Владимир-х5ы5ч i enjoy pink flyod, they are musical excellence but they arent the only band that associated their work with space. rush (2112) and moody blues also come to mind, both also musical genuineness. there is so much incredible and timeless music to come from this area.
Pink Floyd...
April 2024 and getting goosebumbs listening to Pink Floyd. Their music reaches the deepest parts of my soul. I love music. But I think they are the best. Most beautiful, trippy music ever. ❤
Hi Im 71 and listened to Floyd for 50 years now cant forget the original Dark Side concert at Hammersmoth Odeon . Thieir music is timeless and passed on to 5 sons who will pass it on to their sons Im sure Best rock band ever ! DJEJ
I'm 50. I was lucky enough to see shows in '88 and 94'. Despite the fact that I was only 14 the first time, I somehow had the sense to appreciate how special and rare that experience was. I will never forget the goosebumps.
at 76 years of age this still is the best ever. All you folks in music today take notes. no auto tune just damn good music. I don't think we'll ever hear this sort of music again.
Tragic, but I fear that you are correct, Jim. There is not even a glimpse of anything that comes remotely close to Floyd, Genesis, Yes, Camel, Dire Straits, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac etc on the horizon😪
Cheers. I love Pink Floyd always since I was 13! My brother Paul turned me on and it was over. My lifetime favorite. I’ve turned so many others on through the years. 50 plus years! GBY Pink Floyd!♥️
I am so fortunate to have lived my teenage life listening to Pink Floyd and other super bands. They really created music and lyrics that we miss so much these years, real inspiration and talent.
For some reason, the opening bars of this track always make me nostalgic. I remember hearing it in 1975 on their 'Wish you were here' album. I'd just got married and we'd moved to another part of the country. I was 26 at the time, and have had so many good (and bad) times since then, but this track rekindles memories of years before that, my teenage years, great friends, girlfriends, good times, innocent, simple and so much fun. Trouble is the older you get the more memories you have, and for me this is the switch that brings them flooding back. So good to remember those times, but my God it tugs at the heart strings! In this world today, with so much unhappiness and evil around, I wish I could return to those days. Pink Foyd will always reign supreme!!
I’m 61, so you know how many different genre’s of music I’ve been blessed to have experienced, and at the end of the day, it all cycles back to the greatest band to ever grace a stage. It doesn’t get any better than this. 🔥🔥
I've seen tons of concerts and i must agree. I saw Floyd twice ('87 and '94) and Gilmour in 2015. The best concerts of all time imho. I have to admit that I'd seen Roger Waters The Wall concert and it was pretty amazing too. Floyd rules. As someone else wrote, a Floyd concert is an experience
@Phileas Fogg i'm not superior, i simply understand that PF ended in 1978. As i can see you don't understand yet and you believe that MLoR Is pure PF. Believe me: no way. One day u Will see u still young.... :-)
30 years ago I rented an “entertainment center”with vhs and integrated speakers. Got a vhs copy and called some friends. 10 minutes in blasting away and there was a knock on the door. My neighbor standing on my stoop with a 12 pack asking if he could join the party. Ended up entertaining most of my neighbors that night, not 1 complaint. Dubbed a cassette and wore it out. Best Music I’ve ever enjoyed to this day.
No matter who you are, how old you are, what your life is like... when listening to this song, I wish you luck, happiness and always have fun with your family

Genius composers, like no others, their music takes you on a melodic journey that washes away everything else in your brain. It touches my soul, literally to the point of tears. Gilmour’s voice can melt cold steel. What a gift to the world you are Pink Floyd. We, born in the 50’s are now the aged, but blessed to grow up during the developing of the most iconic musicians, the Mozart’s of our generation. I saw Pink Floyd in Dallas 9-10-72, still remains the best concert l’ve ever experienced. Now 73, l continually give my 3 grandlings music history. These recorded concerts are as important as petroglyphs! 💖🎶
My beloved sister and I grew up with Pink Floyd, UK and Australia, on rooftops, houses, back of cars in long journeys to our table tennis tournaments, and anywhere else we could listen. My sister has passed now, but I'll never forget the joy you gave to my best friend. Thankyou dearly for the memories! A small handful of guys could do so much good is what makes the world a great place. Always in my heart. I hope you all appreciate your beloved place in it.
Yup great story. I miss my sister, my table tennis and Pink Floyd drug experiences. However, for some reason Pink Floyd's music always made me feel sad. Guess I now know why. Peace and love humans if you can find it ❣️
@@TheBigolbear they are the reason i survived my teen years as well ... and beyond... can't beleive how many of their concerts I travelled the length of the UK to lap up the next episode of their journey.
The members of pink floyd will die like we all will die some day. But the music will survive like other iconic musicians do. Their albums are historic masterpieces.

It was a brilliant concert, even from the upper reaches of the back of the stadium it sounded and looked amazing. Videos can’t do it justice, but it does help rekindle some of the feelings I had at the time. Hard to believe it was over 35 years ago!
@@neilbrock6417 I saw it too from the upper reaches and I think it actually gave a better experience to be able to see the whole stage plus the audience heaving. Just a monumental sonic & visual spectacle.

I did LSD on Christmas eve 1978 and sat in my friend's basement and listened to Pink Floyd. I was 15 years old. I believe Pink Floyd music touched soul's like no other.
Quite arguably one of the greatest concerts in the history of mankind. What a gift that it was recorded for us that couldn't experience it first hand. This performance was in tune with the universe. True art.
True but the concert that really blew me away was the Earls Court concert in 1973 when they first presented Dark Side of the Moon! I had no idea what to expect and neither did the rest of the audience. Even if the effects were more primitive then it was something never seen before. I was 21 then and sitting in the 7th row from the stage.
it does get better than this... I converted this concert into 3D and it looks simply amazing... It took a long time to do the work but in the end, it is worth the investment.. ;)

To me, their music feels like it came from Earth's conception. It lives and flows from every micro organism and every soul that has ever existed and will continue until the end of time itself. Thank you to everyone one these invaluable musician's for gifting us all with the soul penetrating emotions, love, wisdom and vision only their music can provide. My personal journey of childhood trauma and the desire to heal myself without anger or blame has brought me clarity, empathy, compassion and the continued desire to learn how to heal within. Remember, your negative response only sends a ripple effect of negative energy and provides nothing of value to anyone. Those ripples find their way back to the sender as well for future lessons needing to be learned. For me.....Your response only created the desire to send you positive energy and hope you find some value in what I'm sharing. Most make things harder than they need to be. Disculpen Pink Floyd
Musica linda y viajera. Saludos desde Australia

PINK FLOYD FOR LIFE !

I agree! I have been repeatedly playing this for the last several weeks... it is a Masterpiece for the legacy of Pink Floyd!
Exactly!

I was 16 in 1967 and I melted; I still am. Thanx for the best music of my life
I’m in a younger generation but I’ve been raised listening to this. I absolutely love it. I’m a guitar player and listening to the almost perfection of the guitar in songs like Shine on, it transcends and gives off a feeling that you wouldn’t get anywhere else.

You are spot on with that comment.
I hope you all appreciate your beloved place in it.
such a nice little story! thanks for sharing!
Yup great story. I miss my sister, my table tennis and Pink Floyd drug experiences.
However, for some reason Pink Floyd's music always made me feel sad.

Does Pink Floyd ever get old?! These guys are legendary in the universe of music and what they did for 'live" concerts. Damn.
I am positive that Pink Floyd was the only reason I survived my teen years . . . .

@@TheBigolbear they are the reason i survived my teen years as well ... and beyond... can't beleive how many of their concerts I travelled the length of the UK to lap up the next episode of their journey.
They get older and better.
The members of pink floyd will die like we all will die some day. But the music will survive like other iconic musicians do. Their albums are historic masterpieces.
I agree. His work in “On the Turning Away” would be a staggering achievement if recorded in a studio, but this live performance blew me away.

There just aren’t adequate words to describe how truly epic this concert was, and still is. What a breathtaking band live.
It was a brilliant concert, even from the upper reaches of the back of the stadium it sounded and looked amazing. Videos can’t do it justice, but it does help rekindle some of the feelings I had at the time. Hard to believe it was over 35 years ago!
It's great, but I'd love to see this kind of footage from their golden era. 80's Floyd was a little bit average (but still good at times).

Fifty years on, and no other group has bettered their music. Life is for living, and Pink Floyd enhance one's life.
The difference between PINK FLOYD and other rock bands is that they associate their work with Space... And this means that their creative message is going up.. Spreading all over the Earth, regardless of what territory people live in, and what nationality they are.

True but the concert that really blew me away was the Earls Court concert in 1973 when they first presented Dark Side of the Moon!
