The engine sound on startup is glorious. Not only is there the exhaust note, but so often muted by more advanced designs is the sound of the actual mechanism inside the engine. It's both industrially archaic and intricately precise at the same time. I could listen to the first 20 seconds of this video forever.

Самолёт-сельский труженик.Именно эти машины соединяли райцентры и большие сёла с городами и между собой.Именно они трудились на полях,осуществляя опрыскивание или сев.Именно они спасали людей из труднодоступных уголков СССР,доставляли почту и другие грузы.Также они не боялись ни жары не холода,работая в Арктике и Африке.Были конечно и другие,но это несомненный фаворит.Спасибо тебе,самолёт - работяга.Спасибо владельцу,что сохранил борт в достойном виде и оставил родной окрас этому красавцу.

raidal engine sound....never be change with anything :) I always liked AN2 and I remembered while we woke up with engine roars for warming up and preperation for early morning traning jump when I was young...almost 30 years ago......nothing changed that I feel when I heard that musical sounds.

Wonderful plane. I had the rare experience of being in one when we had an engine failure while I was parachuting. We glided back to the airfield, no problem (but used a lot more of the strip than usual). Great design philosophy - simplicity and strength.
The instruction manual is legendary on landing without engine. Something like "pull back stick, wait for Earth"

А откуда у вас такая информация? Из укроСМИ? Последний АН-2 был выпущен в 2001 году. Китаец не является АН-2. По сайту Гиннесса гуглил сочитание "АН-2" - выдал только ан-225. А вот, что касается ан-2 из англоязычных источников(перевод): Книга рекордов Гиннеса гласит, что 45-летний производственный цикл Ан-2 был на какое-то время самым длинным за всю историю самолетов и поставил под сомнение более чем двадцатилетний пробег гораздо более легкого, конца 1920-х годов, биплана Поликарпова По -2 . Но рекорд продолжительности производства Ан-2 был превышен военным транспортом Lockheed C-130 Hercules производства 1954 года с четырьмя турбовинтовыми двигателями... То есть, АН рекордсменом был в 1991 году. На данный момент информация не актуальна. А геркулес на сайте Гиннесса значится как: ...Longest production run...

Ан-2 создан в 1947 году в Новосибирске. Укриана кроме Ан-70 (оплаченного Россией) не создала больше ничего.

У нас есть один самолет в Японии, которым мы летаем в подразделении Subaru Aerospace Research. Привезли из России 10 лет назад. Россия поставляет нам все запчасти, несмотря на некоторую привередливость в обслуживании, это добротный старый самолет.
Так и движок буржуйский.

Движок нужно ему менять, я считаю. Очень много жрет. И перкаль на современное надо заменить

I love the size and ruggedness of the AN-2 but I love the beauty of the Staggerwing Beech, can you imagine a blending of the two?
The FAA in the USA should have allowed the certification of Polish-built later-production An-2's fitted with a modern turboprop engine. They certainly would have been perfect for "bush flying" in Alaska, where such a plane would be very useful.

It's the normal way to take off with a classical landing gear . Push the stick forward untill you reach the good speed .

Отличный самолёт-для коротких перевозок-можно запросто заменить им автобусные перевозки и цена билета будет не выше, если двигатель поставить экономичный.

Isn't this the airplane that if you have an engine failure, obscured visibility and nowhere to land they just recommend pulling the stick straight back and drifting down like a parachute?
Pretty much, and if you don't whack a tree, rock ditch or mountain, you'll likely walk away too.
I tried a landing that way. Not smooth but it works.

I love Soviet aircraft, rugged and simple. My friend is a highly qualified pilot and has flown many different aircraft. He points out that a Russian aircraft needs only a fraction of the ground support crew to keep it flying, compared to most western aircraft. I saw an AN-2 flying backwards at an airshow (ground speed), if I remember correctly it has a stall speed of about 50km/h and flying into a headwind of 60 km/h...
I always enjoyed this biplane :)
Ant2 doesn't do run up....atmosphere slows down to match prop speed.. mags run off earths magnetic field..

Who guessed to paint red stars on it? An - 2 is not a military, but a civilian aircraft. On the keel, a red flag should be drawn, if you want to position it as a historical Soviet aircraft. And certainly on it there should not be a camouflage coloring.

Pienso que aún vuela en Cuba, tuve oportunidad de volar en este avión que puede ser empleado como transporte de 12 personas, trasladar unas 8 camillas con lesionados o enfermos, apagar incendios forestales, sembrar semillas, rociar insecticidas y fertilizantes, lanzar paracaidistas, Etc. muy, pero muy seguro, despega en un espacio de pista muy corto y aterriza también en muy poco espacio. Puede aterrizar y despegar desde pistas rústicas de hierba o terraplenes o cualquier lugar plano. Puede planear kilómetros si su motor dejara de funcionar, dependiendo de la altura. En resumen un gran avión.

Я на таком из Ленинграда в Новгород летал, когда был ребёнком. Там выдавали пакеты для рвотных масс.
When I was about ten my father, me and 5 other family members rode 750 miles of the Baja 1,000, in Baja California Mexico. We randomly found one of these parked on a beach. My father and 2 of my uncles being privatized pilots (and all of them being there), not to mention having already been able to take off in a C-182 myself, we spent a significant amount of time drooling over it! 2 years ago I saw another one exhibited at the Seattle WA Boeing History of Flight Museum.. While it looked half the size I remembered from when was half the size of what I am now, it brought back the same yearning to own it and load my bikes and family into the Bi-Plane for every trip to Baja!
I hope you all get to experience this wonderful plane in real life someday, and if your really fortunate you'll find it how we did, parked as if abandoned with no red tape or concerned owner/operators to say "don't touch that!! (3 pilots on scene, I promise that plane was caressed like a beautiful woman, even though most of us were so young as to be learning how to treat a woman based on how we treated the plane....lol)!"
