I like that you mentioned the LED improvement. I don't know how many times I've been tilting the Pro+ around trying to see if it was connecting or not because that light on it is so dim. Really liking the Pro 2 but...if they're gonna position this so strongly as a Switch controller then they need some other Switch "pro" features like being able to wake the Switch. I don't normally care if it's a more multiplatform-y controller like the King Kong Pro or ZD-0. I mean, obviously the Pro 2 is "multiplatform-y" given its inclusion of the platform toggle, but with all the talk about "best Switch controller best Switch controller!" I start expecting more Switch-specific features. That's just me though.
I was looking around for a good breakdown of the differences between these controllers, and this video was very helpful in deciding the Pro 2 was the one to go for for me.
Love this video! The professionalism is surprisingly good for the channel size, and I love the use of the new section feature. Came here for a quick comparison, but now I think I'll stay awhile. Sadly the Pro 2 is incredibly hard for me to find in the US, but I'm sold on the Pro 2 for the little features that will mean a lot to me. Thanks for the great video!
Havent been on this channel for a while and I see youre doing face cam, i personally like that as it feels like youre actually speaking to the audience nice job
Darn!! I was honestly going to suck it up and get the original Pro because I love the look of it over the new one, but the last difference really hit the nail in the coffin, as someone who uses PC and iPad for games. Thanks for the great in-depth review.
Been waiting for this one! Great comparison, always appreciate how thorough you are. Looking forward to the full review but I think this may be enough to convince me to buy it already...
yeah, it’s a great controller which I think came through in the video 😂 the review will cover more things like the app in more detail and more on the physical controller.
Great comparison, and very good video quality! I especially enjoy how you went through using the app to make new profiles on the Pro 2, as well as mentioning all the more subtle differences (namely how the dimensions compare) . I'm actually the opposite of others: same stock issues as the others, but the little additional features aren't enough for me to justify waiting until then instead of getting the Pro+ in less than a week. I'm getting it for my PC and I don't see myself switching between devices (plus button combos instead of a dedicated switch doesn't bother me much at all), and I also don't see myself changing up profiles/using the macros on the back (not to mention using it on my PC means I'll usually be with the software, should I ever decide to use it). Rubberized grip also seems enticing, but I've never used a controller with one and it's not enough of a draw to make me wait to get one. You've earned yourself a subscriber!
I have been using my Pro 2 controller for 2 years now and it is perfect for me. I don't like how the ultimate feels on my hands and I'm a fan of the PS layout more than the xbox layout.

I'm thinking maybe upgrade my controller instead. **edit** at the beginning of the vid I was on the fence. by the end I'm placing my order with Amazon. ty.
Idk if its because the pro 2 has the letters on the actual buttons but a/b/x/y all look to have the same round buttons where on the pro + a/b have round tops but x/y have a finger indentation.
I think it may be dependant on which variant you have. have been trying to get hold of other ones to see but not had any luck as these sell quite fast.
Thanks so much for this video! This really helped me choose which one would suit me best, since the differences aren't very clear on the 8bitdo website. Great work, extremely professional and in-depth, and beautiful video quality; not to mention you seem very likeable in general haha. Wishing you well, cheers!
These guys are great! I have their bluetooth adapter to use my Xbox or PS4 controller on Switch, and it works beautifully! I love these controllers for the most part, and would totally get one, but I did get a Pro controller, which I prefer because the thumb sticks are asymmetrical. If 8BitDo made a controller that could wake the Switch and had asymmetrical thumbsticks I'd probably snap it up!
Good video. One thing I noticed when modding these controllers, is that the D-pad AND the rubber behind it are BOTH different thicknesses in the two generations, so, pro tip for modders: leave the D-pad alone! It will not feel right if you swap it with the other generation. This is fine, because only the joysticks and start/select are slightly darker on the Pro 2. The color of both D-pads are identical on both gens.
I never heard of the pro2 until yesterday. And by the sound of it, we have the values in a controller :) now I want it; the 30pro+ is my fave controller period. Now theirs the pro2
This video was incredibly useful. I understood that I don't need the pro 2, since the SN30+ does everything I need and the extra feature seem a little niche to me.

Hi, I've just been digging through all reviews for Pro+ and Pro 2. I noticed that the Pro+ doesn't have the time delay option when setting up macros (which Pro 2 has). However, all the review videos are from 3 years ago. I'm not sure if its support has been added to Pro+ since. Does Pro+ now have access to the same time delay option in macro? I'm thinking of getting a controller purely for the macro function, and I'm looking at these 2 options, with Pro+ being like 1/2 the price of the Pro 2.
Thanks for the video. I have the sn30 pro and it works perfectly but it's a little too small for me. I found after a hour of playing my hand completely cramped up and I couldn't play anymore. I personally don't see enough changes to justify getting this one. Sure it has some quality of life features but my Pro+ is just slightly less useful due to the new two buttons. I personally use mine for PC gaming and like my profile wo be maped just like Xbox since I am now a former Xbox player. I'll get it if my pro+ dies or they release a even better model but until then I am happy with what I got.
Great video, little suggestion is not to say 'this one' and just say the name of the unit you're referring to, I can't follow if I'm doing something while watching your video.
If I learned anything from the Nintendo 64 buttons I can't recommend a controller with these kind of 4 face buttons. They will eventually get stuck pressed in or take 5 seconds to reset back into place. Avoid these kinds of buttons on a controller at all costs.

Which one can connect to PC?
I think it's both for them, since both use Bluetooth as connectivity solution, but possibly with cable, although I'm not sure on that due to me not owning either of them
I dunno the Pro 2 but the SNPro does indeed connect the pc
The speaker doesn't say "doo" though. It says "doh", like "Nintendo".
Sadly you missed the most important difference. No version with concave X/Y buttons on the pro2. I'd have bought it already if not for that! :(
Yeah, was on my list but didn’t record it. Interesting you think that’s the most important though. 👍🏻
@@CTAtechdesk lol ya sadly it is enough to cause me to hesitate on purchasing. It's just such a rare thing to see these days which surprises me because it really changes the feel in a good way I think.
I’d keep an eye out as not all SN30’s have the concave buttons. So they may make a Pro2 with them at some point.
Agreed if you already own a Pro+ 👍🏻
Face buttons looks differently shaped, concave vs convex. Could be an optical illusion.
8bit do what Nintendo don't.
can they be used on xbox one? perhaps with an adapter converter or something?
I’m currently working on this. I have an adapter to test. 👍🏻
Great video, little suggestion is not to say 'this one' and just say the name of the unit you're referring to, I can't follow if I'm doing something while watching your video.
I've always called it 8bit dew not doh! 🤣
This is Korg.
The speaker says doh not do.
You’ve gotta cut down on the padding man.
If I learned anything from the Nintendo 64 buttons I can't recommend a controller with these kind of 4 face buttons. They will eventually get stuck pressed in or take 5 seconds to reset back into place.
Avoid these kinds of buttons on a controller at all costs.
Pronunciation options:
8bitdou
8bitdo
Ate a bit of doo
Who here wishes that you had a British accent?
The 2 seems kinda useless if you already have the +.
