I have a Chinese controller called mobapad pro... I think it's very similar to this, with some differences for better of for worse. It has usb type C, a huge battery, turbo function for every button if you need, 4 programmable back buttons and macro support ... The triggers feels different, they have a lot of travel but activates as soon as you start pressing it (it's weird but feels ok, sometimes I accidentally activate them by just resting my fingers there, it's something to get used to). Very good build quality, adjustable vibration and some other stuff. Works fine with android, PC and Nintendo switch, and it wakes up your switch (something that indeed we don't see very often). You should take a look. Just type Mobapad pro on Aliexpress.
I remember the steam controller has a removable back as well. And it's like a compartment to store the 2.4g usb dongle. Maybe in this case, it's a storage for the usb dongle as well. Can you try to see if it fits?

I understand that this is not a full review, but I appreciate all the details I can take while making a purchase. thanks alot and appreciate the video.
Hi, I'll try to answer these to the best of my ability! 1. Yes, the center pivots just slightly when I push on it. 2. I tested it on my Android phone using Gamepad Tester and there are no deadzone issues, and no recentering/jittering issues. 3. There is a discernable lag with Bluetooth, it's very slight. 2.4GHz seems better to me. I tested Android with an OTG cable and it worked perfectly. Battery capacity is 800mAh, and the spec sheet says it lasts for 30 hours. Hope that helps!
I managed to order one of these at a great discount (£27) based on this review. First impressions were great as it felt amazing to hold - just the right size and shape. Sadly I have to return it as Bluetooth and dongle connection to my HP laptop just don't work. It connects okay but no inputs seem to do anything. Works fine with Android. This looks pretty nice, but like most other controllers, it seems to have the minor quirk that when holding the controller, your left thumb is on the left joystick at an angle, and not straight up. This isn't really an issue for most games, because most either have 8-way navigation or 360-degree navigation, but it does irk me when I play smash in my free time. Since my brain assumes that 'up' is pushing my thumb forward, I usually end up pushing north-northeast, and given that there's a difference between up-left and up-right when using a special attack, it can often be a punishing mistake. The other thing I'm wondering is - is there a sound that plays when you push the function button long enough to start the mapping process? It looks like it lights up when it's ready, but since your finger is over the button, you can't really see.

Thanks for the awesome review! Am considering buying myself a retro gaming console in the near future and pairing this controller with it. Just to confirm, it uses a USB micro B type connection?
It's a great purchase, I used it for a week now. Best controller I ever used. By yourself a magic NS adapter as well. Pairing this controller to a PC. You will not have rumble. Using a magic NS adapter you gain rumble support, but you lose gyro support. To gain rumble. Set the magic ns adapter to Nintendo Switch pro controller. Then on the BigBigWon controller hold pair and B then let go. You're PC will read it Nintendo Switch pro controller. Getting magic NS adapter gives your more chances to connect just in case. But remember using magic ns, it doesn't read the gyro feature.
Good point, so I just did some digging. I tested it with Windows 10 test settings, and it does look like it is a digital input. So not great for racing games. Analog triggers isn't something I usually think about, so I appreciate you asking.
How good is the D-Pad exactly? I ask because as much as I enjoy the Pro Controller, the D-Pad on it has the tendency to register up/down presses when pressing left/right and vice-versa. That kind of design flaw is fatal as someone who enjoys retro or 2D style games where digital directional input is more appropriate.

hi RGC, I have been inhaling your videos over the last 2 days. I was wondering if you would make a video or post or your website about "the classic" or "must try" or simply your favourite games for the various retro consoles? I was a kid right around when gameboy color came out, so the consoles/platforms and games you talk are overwhelming to me - I just have no history with them. But as younger guy, I'd really appreciate some guidance on where to start with retro games. Thanks for videos!
I have a hk1 rbox x4s device I need a gamepad to play ppsspp emulator games I tried many gamepads but it didn't work, do you have any suggestions to play?
Great review! They should have just punt a small storage compartment for that dongle behind the removable back cover... But I have a few questions: Are L2 and R2 analog triggers? I would assume so, but it wasn't very clear to me. And for the next review, since you show them right next to android devices, could you try using the gamepad tester app to show the travel of the analog sticks and potential dead-zones? That would be awesome!
I'll check out that gamepad tester app, thanks! I have already filmed my next controller video, so don't be mad if it doesn't appear in the next one later this week :) Edit to add: I just tested them because I was curious, and wanted to verify, and they are not analog triggers. This isn't something I usually check for, so I didn't notice the first time around. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

I mostly got it to play BotW to run and use the camera at the same time, but after i assign a bottom to the back , and then leave the back bottom pressed for more than 5 seconds, it seems to reset on its own. Am I the only one having this issue? Or is this and actual flaw in the design? Can someone corroborate? I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
I've always been confused as to how people are surprised as to how cheap these third party controllers are. If you're getting an off brand controller, doesn't $10-20 cheaper sound about right? You can get a brand name controller for just a bit more, and most of these controllers seem like cheaper versions of the real deal (except the 8bitDo controllers those are cool).
I don't have any direct links, but if you search for "elitist s controller" in your respective Amazon page it should pop right up. I just tried on the UK Amazon page and it worked fine!
What's worth mentioning is that back buttons are poorly designed, for pressing they work just fine but when you try to hold them you realize that button can be already pressed (you heard the click) but the press isn't registering, you need to press it with slightly more force to be registered. For me that caused sprint interruptions and random dodgerolls while sprinting in Dark Souls
Buy a magic NS adapter. Set the adapter to PlayStation classic mode. Then on the controller, hold pair and B at the same time then let go. No I haven't tried but I strongly feel it will work. I tested many options using BigBigWon and magic ns combined. Note... the adapter doesn't read the gyro from BigBigWon controller. If you want gyro use official dongle that came with it.
@@100Bucks my NS adapter just came in and I can confirm that it works with the ps classic paired with the BigBig won controller. It's awesome. Thanks again for the help!
@@ixanadu3 I knew it would. I did every combination combined. Pair and B on BigBigWon translate to Xbox controller. Magic NS adapter excepts Xbox controller to convert to PlayStation classic. Awesome combination like peanut butter and jelly. Now if you wanna use BigBigWon controller on Xbox series s. You would have to buy a Brooks wingman adapter. Whatever the brooks adapter excepts. Do you know if the controller could work with windows 8.1?
Does the receiver have a slot on the controller? Does it work on the switch(the receiver)?
The receiver doesn’t work on the Switch, only Windows and Android. Unfortunately there is no place to store it, it’s one of my “dislikes” in the summary at the end.
@@RetroGameCorps Oh didn't notice that one mb. Thanks for the quick reply!
Like many other comments I´d like to know how it compares to the new 8bitDo SN30 Pro 2. I really like the SN Pro+ and was thinking about buying the new version, but this Elitist seems a very interesting optiom.
I'll post the SN30 video later this week!
what do you think about super console x? im thinking bout getting it
I have a few reviews of it on the channel -- I like it :)
Would you recommend this for a wiiu?
hi RGC, I have been inhaling your videos over the last 2 days.
Try out Shovel Knight if you like 2D platformer older games!
Was planning to buy an 8bitdo pro 2 but after seeing this one, i mean the price and functionality just changed my mind
Does this controller work with iOS? Not sure if I missed it in the video
Someone has done a calibration test on the sticks? To see if they are as precise as the pro controller.
Does the USB dongle fit in the hole where the charger port is for storage?
Nope! That would have been smart.
Would love to see a shootout. Best 2.4ghz, best Bluetooth, and best wired .
I'm a fan of that Steel Series controller you have there
It is nice, but I wish it had dedicated START/SELECT buttons.
Wouldn't SN30 Pro 2 fit all your boxes with great quality and pretty good price ($50)? I use older model (SN30 Pro plus) and it is really good.
More to come on that one :)
maybe you can store the 2.4 ghz dongle in the compartment in the back maybe that why the panel comes off..
I wish, unfortunately it doesn't fit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Does it have gyro control?
I have already filmed my next controller video, so don't be mad if it doesn't appear in the next one later this week :)
Edit to add: I just tested them because I was curious, and wanted to verify, and they are not analog triggers. This isn't something I usually check for, so I didn't notice the first time around. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
@@RetroGameCorps Wow, thanks for the fast reply! 😱 And of COURSE I will be mad! How DARE you not honering my stupid request immediatly for all your awesome, detailed and free content I have zero business criticizing? 🤣
Does the 2.4G adapter fit inside the battery cover??
Unfortunately it doesn't :(
@@RetroGameCorps awww man....
*desires of modding intensifies*
Looks like it's a really good controller. I suggest looking into the SN30 Pro 2.
I have a review of that one coming later this week!
Sirve para ps5 ?
8bitdo SN30Pro+.
Love mine. Does everything. Easily available locally and with warrantee.
EDIT: And for only slightly more, the Pro2 in the next couple of weeks.
Is this Linux (Ubuntu) compatible? Thanks!
Thank you.
U did a macro by accident
does it work wirelessly on pc and will it be recognize as xbox controller?
It connects to the PC wirelessly no problem, I'm not sure if it's recognized as an Xbox controller though.
I guess that's what surprised me about it -- it doesn't feel cheaper than the first-party controllers. In some respects it felt better.
It is like Steam Controller (back panel) and a Pro controller had a baby, which connects to everything
I just got to know this great controller. Spread the word!
Any link for EU buyers?
I don't have any direct links, but if you search for "elitist s controller" in your respective Amazon page it should pop right up. I just tried on the UK Amazon page and it worked fine!
@@RetroGameCorps oh great! Ty very much
What's worth mentioning is that back buttons are poorly designed, for pressing they work just fine but when you try to hold them you realize that button can be already pressed (you heard the click) but the press isn't registering, you need to press it with slightly more force to be registered. For me that caused sprint interruptions and random dodgerolls while sprinting in Dark Souls
Cause u did a macro instead of assigning a button
Would this work with playstation classic?
Buy a magic NS adapter. Set the adapter to PlayStation classic mode. Then on the controller, hold pair and B at the same time then let go. No I haven't tried but I strongly feel it will work. I tested many options using BigBigWon and magic ns combined. Note... the adapter doesn't read the gyro from BigBigWon controller. If you want gyro use official dongle that came with it.
@@100Bucks thanks a lot for the great suggestion. I’ll check out the NS adapter 😁
@@ixanadu3 These 2 products will save you money. Literally the only 2 devices you need for everything. If one don't work you can rely on the other.
Transform the BigBigWon to a controller that excepts the inputs to make a conversion. I like these transformation devices. Never buy another controller every again.
I’ve always been a PS owner, so the symmetric analog sticks are my preference. 8bitDo will likely be my next controller.
Yeah, that'll be a better fit.
I am the opposite but 8BitDo has the best build quality among the 3rd party companies, so the Pro 2 was the best choice.
What about Linux/SteamOs?
I'm not sure. If the OS accepts x-input (either BT or 2.4GHz) or d-input signals, then it should work fine.
Does it work on Linux?
I think it should, provided the distro accepts x-input or d-input signal.
Cool controller, I got a Big Big Won too. just not a controller ;)
Just the joystick
Can this connect to PS4?
No
it seems like it doesnt have a mobile/phone mount, that could make it a no go for some people.
"Can we get an Xbox Elite controller?"
Mom: "We have Elite controller at home!"
Haha, exactly. They could have used ANY other name for this thing, why use something that is easily confused with Xbox?
