    • @Ferkiwi
      @Ferkiwi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      This makes a lot of sense, even out of context.
      I don't think you can be called a fan boy for something that is free (as in freedom).
      To me "fan boy" implies simping for a person or a corporation, to the point they can take advantage and sell you stuff you wouldn't buy if made by someone else.
      Linux isn't the product of a company, nor is there a single version of Linux, the license prevents it from being owned by anyone.

      @@Ferkiwi You can definitely be a fanboy of something free. You can be a Linux fanboy. A Linux fanboy would use Linux even if another platform would be better suited for it - like playing games. If you're building a PC for gaming, it should pretty much definitely be Windows. Or you can dual boot to have Linux for your non-gaming stuff and Windows for games. If you go full Linux, well, you just might be a fanboy cause while it's improving it still isn't there yet.

    • @Ferkiwi
      @Ferkiwi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kaldo_kaldo I guess we have different definitions of "fanboy".
      To me it'd be weird to say "fanboy of the color yellow" or "fanboy of computer tech"... it needs to apply to a company (eg. Apple, Microsoft) or a company IP (eg. Xbox, Playstation), a band/group of people (eg. the Beatles), or a specific person. Rather than just being fan of a generic concept.
      To me what you describe could be called a Linux "freak" / "geek" / "obsessed", but I wouldn't say that would be a fanboy since there's no IP ownership attached to FOSS.
      It's the difference between someone who is a sucker for AMD (fanboy) and someone who is just so obsessed with APU technology that he might use an APU even for cases where getting a dedicated CPU & GPU might work better cause APU tech "still isn't there yet".
      You can be an "Ubuntu fanboy", or a "Debian fanboy", because those are Linux companies or organizations and being a fan of those groups trascends technical or moral preferences.. but "Linux fanboy" is more of a technical preference that's independent of any company/organization so it doesn't have the same meaning.

    I have the pro plus and it is by far my favorite modern controller. Anthony's comments about the analog sticks are weird because they are the exact same modules as the xbox and playstation controllers. The difference in feel is entirely due to the stick cap (the part you touch). It's pretty easy to swap in xbox or playstation sticks if you want.

      I've had the Pro2 for a few months now; basically since 8bitDo released it, and it's been a great controller. Runs forever on charge, runs while plugged in, configurable button layout, has some heft to it(probably all that battery) and takes my shoving the sticks around with no issues.

    • @syncVince

      I bought the Pro+ in November and I'm using the controller ever since on an almost daily basis.
      I don't have much experience with gamepads, but I really like this one.
      It doesn't have the highest of qualities (e.g. dead skin can get trapped in many gaps and the phone stand doesn't really work for me), but I've really liked everything else (for example the battery that gets low only after 20hrs of use).
      I don't feel the need to upgrade to the Pro2, but I think that everyone who buys it will make a very good purchase.
      Btw you can even ask 8BitDo to send you replacement parts if something gets broken. I've asked them a left stick yesterday because the one I already have gets scratched under the cap and they told me they'd send me one for free.

    I've owned the 8BitDo SN30pro+ (Not the 2, mine is missing extra back buttons) for some 6-8 months and it is my favorite controller ever. I grew up literally cutting my teeth on the super Nintendo controller and always thought that Play Station nailed it early with the iconic design they aren't ever going to need to really change. So those combined like this is my dream controller. The only negative I've run into so far is the coating on the joysticks tore a tiny tiny bit in one spot. But only that speck sized piece came off and if I didn't tell anyone they wouldn't ever notice. Bluetooth works great, battery lasts forever. As for the Bluetooth 2.0 experience: My PC (naturally) has no Bluetooth integrated on the mainboard - but I have a Bluetooth stick since about 2004. I bought that back when I needed to sync my phone's contacts with my PC and wanted to do that wirelessly. And that exact same Bluetooth 2.0 stick came back in handy again when I've started using a PS4 controller on PC back in 2019. Together with DS4Windows I've been using this Bluetooth 2.0 stick and the PS4 controller without any issues whatsoever. Bluetooth 2.0 is not an issue whatsoever; even with audio transferred over Bluetooth and using the controllers headphone jack - no issues at all! And we're not talking about playing no pace virtual jigsaw puzzles... quite the opposite: Call of Duty Modern Warfare/Warzone can be controlled without a hitch over Bluetooth 2.0 and way into the CoD Black Ops Cold War times until I stopped playing the game at the end of last year. So I absolutely cannot see how the experience with this controller connected via Bluetooth 2.0 should pose any issues - I can only imagine that he doesn't have any experience with 2.0 himself.

    I love my 8bitdo Pro (non plus controller) if I was gonna use a bigger controller I'd use my Playstation or Xbox controller. The 8Bitdo feels perfect for sidescrollers and action games, retro or not. I'm 35 and originally started with an SNES and my cousins Sega Genesis as a kid and in my opinion the dpad on my 8bitdo is excellent. I don't feel any misses or slow response. The right thumbstick is harder to control as Anthony pointed out in the software. The range isn't perfect but as long as I'm not playing a shooter which I've tried, I'm happy with it.

      @JakeobE 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Real question is if the pro 2's joysticks last longer than 9-12 months of light use before they start drifting/lose sensitivity when pushing forward. Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo all use that same exact, cheap joystick potentiometers.

      @@JakeobE i've used the old sn30 pro since 2018 A LOT, enough to tear the rubber pad on 2 buttons (they sent the complete repair kit free of charge way out of warranty) and the analogs are still fine (only a bit of wear on the rubber top, i really used it a lot lol), i used it on the switch and PC, at least a couple thousand hours, the pro2 feels the same, i bet it will last the same (my older controller still works perfectly)
      that said, i have a dualshock 4 since 2015 and it doesn't have drifting problems, there was wear on the rubber on the triggers but that's a very cheap repair

    I actually bought one after watching this. I used to own a ps3, so i'm kinda familiar with the sony's layout. Glad to say it exceeds my expectation. Compare this to other controllers in the same price range, this is a heavy competitor. The build quality is excellent, the software is easy to use. The price 49$ is a steal for me. Input lag when using bluetooth is very minimal, both on pc and android. Couldn't be more satisfied.
