I'm ordering the wired version, don't need a wireless for my pc and if I'm playing switch its only gonna be used for if I need a controller for player 2
Out of curiosity, I planned to get this controller, but since I have no bluetooth on my PC, means I should use the wire. My question is, when I use a wired mode, should I take off the battery?
Omg you lost 2 of them! How! Been using this gray one since I got it and it’s been great. One thing I had to learn - The + button is power button so all you have to do is hold the button every time you want it on.
Purple being my favorite colour im kinda disappointed they didnt bring the snes colours pattern for this new version, should i get the pro 2 still? Or fuck it i get the old one with the colour i prefer. Hmmm.
Really gonna depend on the features you need. All in all there aren’t really too many differences. But something about it makes me love this controller when I didn’t use the last one too much. Something about the grips, and the start and select being centered. It just looks better especially with this PlayStation vibe!! I like this thing!
I was looking for a second controller for player 2 on android. Questionable how it will Competitively compete with Xbox series x, which is great....after the firmware update.
Hi friend. I bought this remote yesterday, everything was going very well until I updated it through the app and now it doesn't turn on in any way and I'm worried; any solution for this?
I haven’t heard of that, but I didn’t know how to turn it on when I first got it. Found out you turn it on by holding the + button so make sure you’re doing that. Otherwise maybe contact 8BitDo!
I got their SN30 *right* before they revealed the first pro. It's great if you want snes inputs and nothing else, but modern games demand more than it can give. :'( That said, I'm SO glad they finally got away from inputting a code for selecting device mode. That never sat right with me.

Yeah about time they came out with that right? I don’t play call of duty so hopefully somebody else can join in the discussion but with the different trigger sensitivity and the customization it sounds like it
I loved the PS4 controller and just switched to Series X at Christmas. I loved the original xBox controller but these ones are a bit weird. I love that I can mix this in and essentially have a PS4 handset on a Series X. Just ordered one on Amazon.
@Switch Unboxing My old controller was one reason I was updating. £50 to replace so why not invest that in a new console? I did think about a new controller plus dongle but the 8bitdo was on offer with a dongle in the UK. All just aligned. GTA is tough on PS4 controllers: I wouldn't buy a second hand one.
I think you go into settings, accessibility, switch control, switches, and Bluetooth devices. It’s not an official way though so keep that in mind. You may want to look up a video about it on here and reach out to someone who has done it!
Yeah a really good more affordable and versatile option, but if you don’t need the customization and flexibility, really no need to leave a Pro controller. Just wish Nintendo had more designs!
Hey it costs less than the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller! And you can always get the previous model for a LITTLE less. But yeah controllers aren’t cheap for the good ones!
I can't really find any real flaws with the Pro 2 controller that don't come down to preference, it's just a overall good Switch compatible general purpose controller at a reasonable price. The build quality is solid, ergonomics are decent, buttons feel good, sticks work well enough, no connectivity issues, has 2 extra paddles and software for customizing controller functions. It's the controller I'm using with my Switch, however it's not my favorite controller. I definitely prefer the ergonomics on the XBONE controller, the sticks are better and the shoulder buttons are better thought out and more accessible without moving your fingers off the triggers. I also frankly prefer the dpad on the XBONE controller since dpad is mostly used for menuing these days, a more tactile dpad makes a lot more sense to me over a mushy one. I'm happy to use the Pro 2 with my Switch, however I secretly wish XBONE controller was directly compatible with the Switch, and that it had the paddles without shelling out for the ludicrously expensive Elite Controller. The PowerA Enhanced Wireless Controller looked like an interesting option at a glance, but no remapping buttons is a dealbreaker - I'm not gonna play the Nintendo BAYX layout, it's so counter intuitive to me.
@@switchunboxing Pro 2 has all the right features, just not in my preferred form factor. Still, it's the best compromise so far. I wish they'd 8bitdoify the Xbox Elite controller and make it Switch compatible (and at a slightly more reasonable price), I'd go for one in a heartbeat.
@@arstgera It's a center pivot membrane d-pad, it seems to roll well. As much as I like clicky d-pads for menuing in modern games, the oldschool d-pad on this feels good for d-pad controlled games.
I definitely like the Gameboy styled one the best -- it looks really simply and classy. The black is good too (and the one I first bought), but would have preferred a little bit of dark gray for contrast. Not really a Playstation guy and am not a fan of those big letters on the buttons.
I gotta get my grips on that black model!! The d-pad on these controllers are something nintendo really needs to look at. They had it right back on the SNES controller.
True man this dpad is unmatched. Did they tear it off of a SNES haha? The black does look so cool but oddly I’m still loving the PlayStation one. I love the nostalgia. Never had a PlayStation but it still takes me back there and kind of lets me live what I missed out on haha
I wanted to love this controller but had to return it. It’s just uncomfortable to the point where it’s basically unusable when trying to use the analogue sticks. I’m sure it’s great for 2D games but I’m not buying a controller just for that.
@@lilaclily12 Well alright is better than not alright! Yes I can’t believe it took almost 4 years for me to stop using JoyCon haha. I don’t hate them even though I have big hands! Nice info, thanks! Also would be great to see you test Cyber Gadget Gyro Controller PRO Wireless (~$50-$70). Possibly a better alternative for GuliKit Kingkong Pro with advanced and supposedly very precise macro recording. Also 1st time I see physically reversible pad/stick layout 😯. Anyways, thanks for the video!
I mean, if I understood correctly this 8BitDo Pro 2 still doesn't have the option to record macros, just to program them. So for something like ACNH that doesn't really help.
@@switchunboxing Thanks for the info! It's weird that there isn't any English reviews about Cyber Gadget Gyro Controller Pro. I'm interested in it because of WULFF DEN's review about the company's earlier Nintendo Switch Pro Controller add-on which seem to had the best macro recording/reproducing accuracy among Switch controllers. th-cam.com/video/2m9MsB_9JOQ/w-d-xo.html But I don't know if this new controller has the same strange property that you can't halt the macro in the middle of it. If so, it's not very practical for my use. I know this isn't expensive thing to most end users to just buy and test by themselves, but I have a health condition causing me some financial burdon. Of course, not saying I expect you to test this just for me - a total stranger, lol 😂. I just thought to mention this controller because it might be an interesting product to others as well 🤷🏻♂️.
I would prefer if the A B X Y buttons were physically customizable, as if you could decide the layout for those of us who are used to the Xbox controllers; I guess you can technically open the controller up and swap the buttons, but not everyone is willing to do that, plus the buttons would probably not match the software anymore.
I use a pro controller. So until that dies I probably won’t upgrade. I really liked the explanation of differences in controllers! Thanks for the video Shibby!
Yeah if you already have the Pro controller, no real need to change except for people that wanna switch around the button layout, use multiple systems, or prefer the stick layout. I’m liking these non-mushy buttons though! And thanks, I did a poll and most people said they wanted brief comparisons but I decided to not really cut anything out of the video anyway because it wasn’t too long and I figured it would make my video a little different because I don’t know if other videos are going to talk about how far the buttons stick out and stuff haha.
Yeah those pretty would and I think they come with those thumb grips? It kind of seems out of character for them but also it’s kind of nice to see them switching things up.
Crystal Purple and any listings with the thumb grips are from AKNES I personally prefer not having thumb grips AKNES also has the Special Edition SN30 Pro’s
See and I thought I was picky about input lag haha! I haven’t noticed any issues. What controller would you recommend for the Switch for people who are super focused on that?
Although admittedly I haven’t used the sn30pro+ that much. For some reason the Pro 2 has just been more appealing so this is the one I’ve been using. Maybe they improved the input lag but I never really tested for it.
@@switchunboxing Nintendo ones. Games are designed with that in mind so you won't find any licensed compatible product that can overcome that. But if you have other means, the lowest inputlag gamepad is the DS4. No gamepad is faster than DS4 (DS5 is somewhat behind but it's also very good. Xbox one is a bit worser than DS5 but still good. Nintendo is on pair with Xbox. SN30pro+ is at least 3x slower than xbox one). Congrats to Sony.
@@switchunboxing Windows don't seem to like SN30pro+. Some games just give up from receaving input from it. Trails in the sky trilogy for instance drop it under 5 minutes. I tested a bit with AC but inputlag is very high when compared to DS4.

As for the ultimate, I’m sure it’s S tier but I can’t justify it with how much I love the pro controller.
Really nice quality video. You deserve more subs.

How is the d-pad of this controllers for fighting games?
Hey! I don’t play fighting games myself but looks like there are pros and cons. This video has some good info about the dpad of the 8BitDo Ultimate which has just about the same dpad. Check out the 3:28 mark for the dpad review for fighting games th-cam.com/video/LwxzZCQlYN0/w-d-xo.html
The channel also has a review for the Pro 2 and the dpad discussion starts around 2:00

@@Astrotrain78 Happy to help! Does it sound like it’ll be good for fighting games for you? I would think it is. And the 8BitDo Ultimate comes with a 2.4Ghz dongle for lower latency. Just posted my video on it last week
What are macros, i tried looking it up but no clear answer
You can set it where one button creates a string of inputs. So the back right button press, tells the controller you’re pressing BBYAB for example. Could be useful in a fighting game maybe.
I'm ordering the wired version, don't need a wireless for my pc and if I'm playing switch its only gonna be used for if I need a controller for player 2
I think you’ll like it!
Out of curiosity, I planned to get this controller, but since I have no bluetooth on my PC, means I should use the wire. My question is, when I use a wired mode, should I take off the battery?
No need!
@@switchunboxing Great, gonna grab one of these. Thanks man!
Do you know if this controller works with Star Citizen on PC.
I’ve never played that game but this controller is compatible with PC so I would think so!

Aw thank you!
Does it work with Xbox Series without adapter? Or do I need to buy one?
It won’t work, even with adaptor sadly. But the good news is they just recently made a wired version of this controller for Xbox!
I actually lost 2 of my pro controllers smh, thinking of getting two of these!
Questionable how it will Competitively compete with Xbox series x, which is great....after the firmware update.
thank u I bought 8BitDo Pro 2 Bluetooth 😀 (grey edition)
That’s my fav color of em
Currently HYPED for the 8bitdo SN30 Xbox controller that will be released in December!
It looks pretty cool!
I got their SN30 *right* before they revealed the first pro. It's great if you want snes inputs and nothing else, but modern games demand more than it can give. :'(
That said, I'm SO glad they finally got away from inputting a code for selecting device mode. That never sat right with me.
Yeah they’ve got a pretty cool lineup now
You can already just use d pad for Mario kart or use control stick. You don’t have to change the button layout
Oh sorry thanks for pointing that out, I think I was thinking about swapping the triggers instead of the right stick
can i play games like fifa 22 on steam or games from other platforms like COD Warzone using the Pro 2 Xbox version of the controller?
I haven’t used that controller but it looks like the website says it’s compatible with Xbox and Windows as well. I’ve never used Steam so I’m not sure if that falls under Windows or not. Maybe someone else can chime in!
@@switchunboxing I had this doubt, because the xbox controls have native compatibility on windows, and the xbox version caught my attention, an xbox control with dualshock layout

I’m using the PlayStation looking one because I never had a PlayStation and I like the color contrast! What about you
This looks awesome! I’d like to get this eventually
Detroitmel! What’s up! Yes it’s really cool. If you want to save a couple bucks you can get their previous model too cuz it’s great if you don’t need the extra features. But this one slaps with the updates.
I actually have the previous one but the extra updates are what I was really interested in
I’m debating on getting this for switch and the Xbox version cuz I’m a PS player and the ps controller is more comfortable to me and my small hands
I’d say it his similarities to old school PlayStation but newer I’m not so sure. I think you can use PS5 controller on switch via the 8bitDo USB dongle but I bet Xbox is more restrictive.
Thanks, probably going to buy one
You’re welcome! I get credit for it if you use the link on my description. 😊
does this work with Android TV box like Mibox S?
Yes it works with MIbox S! Switch the controller to D mode, then turn on the controller to pair it.
First video I've seen on your channel and I'm super impressed. Definitely deserve more subscribers!
Also convinced me to finally pick this up instead of the other options. Got wayyy too used to using back buttons for jump and reload on my PS4 so of course I needed that for my switch too.
Hey thanks welcome to the party! Still a newer channel I don’t have that many videos up so that’s why not that many subscribers but we will get there! The versatility of this controller is great
I’m getting the Xbox series x one! And are these good for games like COD
Yes that’s a great point. Would a PS4 controller not work?
@Switch Unboxing My old controller was one reason I was updating. £50 to replace so why not invest that in a new console? I did think about a new controller plus dongle but the 8bitdo was on offer with a dongle in the UK. All just aligned.
GTA is tough on PS4 controllers: I wouldn't buy a second hand one.

Can't decide between the ps1 style or the gb classic style 🤯
I’m loving the PlayStation style. The color scheme is great!
I already enjoy playing with the pro Controller, so I don't think I'll get them but they do look interesting
Yeah a really good more affordable and versatile option, but if you don’t need the customization and flexibility, really no need to leave a Pro controller. Just wish Nintendo had more designs!
I love it the controller looks amazing, I wish it didn't cost almost as much as a game does though xD
Hey it costs less than the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller! And you can always get the previous model for a LITTLE less. But yeah controllers aren’t cheap for the good ones!
just ordered one today (gray)
Gray is the way!
Xbox One had a good controller! I used to use it. Now the Pro 2 is my main controller! Even after I swore it would be my Monster Hunter Pro Controller
@@SaltyMaud have you heard about the wireless adaptors to allow you to play your xbox controller on the switch? Maybe look into those
How's the dpad? Is it easy to do circular motion for fighting games?
@@arstgera It's a center pivot membrane d-pad, it seems to roll well. As much as I like clicky d-pads for menuing in modern games, the oldschool d-pad on this feels good for d-pad controlled games.
I definitely like the Gameboy styled one the best -- it looks really simply and classy. The black is good too (and the one I first bought), but would have preferred a little bit of dark gray for contrast. Not really a Playstation guy and am not a fan of those big letters on the buttons.
Ooo dark gray on black could have been cool
Does this work with xbox series?
I don’t think so. I think Xbox uses its own proprietary connectivity BUT there’s an Xbox version of it now. 😊

@@samuelmayorga5569 Hope you enjoy it!
I wanted to love this controller but had to return it. It’s just uncomfortable to the point where it’s basically unusable when trying to use the analogue sticks. I’m sure it’s great for 2D games but I’m not buying a controller just for that.
Have you used the Nintendo Pro Controller? That might be a better fit for you if you prefer more of an Xbox style shape and configuration.
The video is nice and informative.

Thank you! Is it the Splatoon Nintendo Switch controller?? I was originally wanting the white one even though I’m not big into Pokémon. Glad they came out with the Monster Hunter one because it’s awesome. Nintendo needs more designs!
the only thing i hate about most 8bitdo controllers is the face button layout, should be the xbox layout instead of the nintendo layout or just no writing on/near the buttons at all.
Ahhh yeah good point. They make a wired version for Xbox but not wireless. Maybe you’d like the new 8BitDo Ultimate controller. It comes in an Xbox wireless one. amzn.to/3JTDgiD
@@switchunboxing already have that one and it's awesome, the quality of all the 8bitdo stuff is awesome.
Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching! I think the Power A Fusion Pro lets you swap stick and pads. Pretty cool mechanic.
@@switchunboxing Thanks for the info! It's weird that there isn't any English reviews about Cyber Gadget Gyro Controller Pro. I'm interested in it because of WULFF DEN's review about the company's earlier Nintendo Switch Pro Controller add-on which seem to had the best macro recording/reproducing accuracy among Switch controllers.
th-cam.com/video/2m9MsB_9JOQ/w-d-xo.html
But I don't know if this new controller has the same strange property that you can't halt the macro in the middle of it.
Yeah that would be cool!
And thanks, I did a poll and most people said they wanted brief comparisons but I decided to not really cut anything out of the video anyway because it wasn’t too long and I figured it would make my video a little different because I don’t know if other videos are going to talk about how far the buttons stick out and stuff haha.

sn30pro+ is a (not) awesome controller. Inputlag is too high! It's worser than nintendo's joycons that are not that good.
