@@bdub4006 you must have seen my whiteboard ideas list - acupuncture moved to the top of the list the other day. A subscriber made a fantastic recommendation of somewhere to go. Have you had it?
I've had acupuncture a few years ago and consider it a good experience. I had, however, a very specific problem to work on (consequences of an accident). Since you desire to do it: Do you have a particular focus in mind?
@@LauraTryUK wow what an incredible coincidence! I didn’t see that at all unfortunately but try to notice everything! I merely suggested as I’m an acupuncturist! You’re gonna love it when you try! I fell in love with my mat the very first time I tried it. Within a couple of minutes I'd ditched the t-shirt and went full skin. I went a full hour. I felt my muscles almost melt, and almost fell asleep on it. I have fibromyalgia that mostly manifests in back spasms, and find when I'm really bad off, my mat is one of my best tools. I've also had the pillow shut down stubborn migraines. One of the best $20 purchases I've ever made.
This is reccomended by therapists for kids who cut. The cutting pain relieved the emotional pain but it’s dangerous due to infection or accidental deep cuts. A prana mat is a great alternative for teens and kids who’ve started cutting
Wow - as a former cutter, this would’ve been incredible information for me (or a parent) to have had when I was a teen! I’m now looking into this mat for entirely different reasons, but feeling like it could be healing in a few ways.
As you wake up less point support more pressure. I would say the but should be out the mat. So you can put pressure on the but when waking up. May be direct skin contact is too much. I would use a thick cotton shirt first
@@acousticboy9029 lol right, "here kid, have the unhealthy feeling of pain but without the harm" instead of teaching them not to have pain as a coping mechanism at all.
I suffer from periodic back pain, and about a month ago I got and started using an acupressure mat. The first time you use it you do think this is crazy. It's too painful. However, if you stick it out it does help. I use it for about 15 minutes at a time now. After about 5 minutes the pain goes away and a warm sensation begins to spread around my back. It actually becomes somewhat pleasurable. After I'm done, my pain is gone and I feel very relaxed. Here's a couple of tips about it. I recommend doing it without a shirt on. It's going to hurt like hell at first but it's more effective. Also, I have found the easiest way to get off of it is to lift your body up and pull the mat out from underneath you.
It makes sense. Think of all of the muscles in your back as a big slab of meat, and when you have a slab of meat that's tough and hard... what do ya do? It takes time to loosen them. It's just a whole lot kinder than a spiked mallet.
If you have back pain and no disease or structural deformation then I suggest that you try changing your diet and have an osteopath look at your spinal alignment. For 90% of people it comes from diet.
@@DevinNixonDavis I assume you are talking about diet being the cause of most back pain. If so, you are wrong. I am used to this kind of resistance. Two kinds of people say I am wrong, people who profit from other's suffering and people who haven't tried changing their diet.
It probably releases endogenous opioids which reduce pain and create feelings of calmness. Also there’s a theory that pain and emotional regulation systems in the body are connected, so by inducing and removing pain can also promote calmness.
I first discovered this mat when I was at a day spa facility. You can imagine a nice, quiet, tranquil place. Much like in this video, you can imagine me trying not to swear and moan and groan in agony from this damn mat! Call me crazy, but I actually liked the sensations that it bought to my body after I stepped off. It peaked my curiosity, so I bought one for my home. Fast forward a couple months, I was really struggling with plantar fasciitis from being on my feet all day at work in the wrong shoes. I had booked in to see a podiatrist in a few weeks time, so I started to use the mat in the mean time. It was so painful for my feet that I had tears rolling down my face in agony! But after a few minutes the pressure release felt SO good. When I finally had the podiatrist appointment, the podiatrist checked the usual pressure points a few times over my feet whilst asking if I felt any pain at all. I felt a bit silly, as I said ‘no it actually feels fine’ every time. I told her about the acupressure mat that I had been using and how painful it was initially, but how wonderful my feet felt after using it. She basically said to me, “well I think that mat has done the job for me and helped you get rid of your plantar fasciitis pain.” She never heard of the acupressure mat before but was quite surprised by the results it had produced for me. Warning: if you have plantar fasciitis, IT SUCKS. Take it slooooowww when stepping on the mat and lean against something, or do it sitting down to take the weight off initially. I’ll never forget the pain when I first stepped on the mat. It’s seared into my brain as a core memory. But now when I step on the mat, I think back to those days and notice a MASSIVE difference in what it has done for my feet and I can now bear my whole body weight on a single foot at a time.
I use the advanced Shakti, have two so I can do my whole body at the same time top to toe plus the pillow. Do it for 25 minutes per day, asleep most of them. Stand also for 13 mins each morning too after my yoga session, the sensations are incredible so persevere and go to the next level.
A ballet dancer turned me on to acupuncture mat. It helps immensely. After about 20 minutes, relaxation and you can feel your circulation increasing, DONT be surprised if you get sinus drainage from the pillow....lymphatic draining. Helps facia that gets knotted up, arthritis in lower back. My 83 year old mother uses hers as well.
Instructions for this mat as a beginner is to begin using a long sleeve tee shirt, and socks if you are going to stand on it. There are 3 levels of mat, start with the beginners one. How to get off the mat? Roll to one side. I like my mat, but I did introduce it slowly to my body and had short sessions…as for standing on it, I started with socks and sat on a chair and put my feet on the mat increasing the pressure every time until I was able to stand on it, but I prefer not to.
My first session was 25 minutes. It was incredible. I modified the pillow by taking the foam out and inserting a microbead pillow and that was awesome. It molds to the shape of your head. If you put it long ways you can go from your neck to the top of the head.
Can't live without it. On some instances I've fallen asleep and spent a whole night on one of those. The worse the pain in the body, the less the pain from the mat, is my experience. When my lower back acts up, making it hard to get up out of bed or a chair, it will suffice with 30 sec or so to turn the pain off. Really helpful and useful.
I have chronic pain from endometriosis and its changed my life. The pain from the mat is a distraction from the daily pain I live in, and its really undone muscle tension that I didn't think could be undone. It's genuinely changed my life. It's a lot less intense on a soft mattress or couch. Floor is max intensity!
Been using one with the pillow for a couple years now. I adore it. The "hurts so good" sensation is very similar to the experience of getting a tattoo. After you adapt to the intensity of it, it's extremely euphoric. Just like when getting a tattoo, i tend to become groggy after a few minutes. It's really quite wonderful and I'll never go without it!
Tried one for the first time today. Weird question, but do you feel your heartbeat more pronounced when lying on this? Maybe due to the increased circulation? My heart rate was just fine and there were no aftereffects, but just felt much more than usual on my back while I was on the mat. As someone who deals with health anxiety, it just bothered me a little haha. Trying to find out if it is normal or not.
i have quite a few tattoos (including, but not limited to, two full sleeeves and chest pain) and never have i felt any kind of pleasure or euphoria when getting them done. i am intrigued :)))
I haven't had euphoria while getting them done but definitely like an addiction feeling right after. Like I want to get more for the experience itself, not necessarily for the pretty pictures. @@alinarosu7944
I have Fibromyalgia and use mine for nerves lower back pain. It is the only thing that works to numb the pain. I lay on it in bed with no clothes covering my lower back, and after few minutes the nerves pain goes, and relaxes me. It hurts a little bit at the beginning but relieve the tension caused by being in constant pain.Very often I nod off on it, feeling so relaxed. Love it
If you don't mind me asking, you get your body to relax after using the mat but as soon as you stop using it, do you start feeling pain again? I have problems with my nerves in my back and I'm checking on alternatives.
I have chronic pain in my neck and upper back. A friend who has similar issues introduced me to acupressure mats like 5 years ago and now I can’t go without it. It’s one of the few things that can help a pain flare or can even stop it/avoid it if I catch it early enough.
@unknownreno2246 I'm sure most would be very similar. Mine is gaiam, and it works for me. I bought one just because, ended up using if after my ex left recently and she took the bed, our couch wrecked my back and I couldn't have lasted the week if it wasn't for something like this

@@mattg7977 Yes. As the pain from pokey spikes digging into my skin subsides, I feel sort of a weird pulsing throbbing through my back in rhythm with my heartbeat. I try to take deep belly breaths and fully relax. Remember your vagus nerve affects your heart rhythm and it is also affected with anxiety. And laying on the mat can activate your parasympathetic nervous system which is what you want! I hope this helps! Anxiety is so challenging. Over the last year I have built an arsenal of tools to help with my anxiety and my anxiety is doing sooo much better. The acupressure mat Deep breathing exercises Ending my showers with cold water EXERCISE!!! Going for walks Reading/lessening electronics Binaural beats Weighted blanket Prayer!!! (You could also meditate if prayer isn't your thing, but I have to say my relationship with Jesus helped me sooo much through this nightmare) Journaling B vitamins and Magnesium Some people benefit from things like Ashwaganda and GABA. Unfortunately, these made my anxiety much much worse. But from my research that is extremely uncommon. I'm just a freak 😂 And once my anxiety overall started improving with the above, I began using exposure therapy to build up my tolerance to anxiety triggers. I'm working on one or two anxiety triggers at a time. But for me it was better to work on lowering my overall anxiety before attempting exposure therapy. I hope this helps you!
I feel like I could really use this for my anxiety! I tend to pick my hands instead so it would be nice to have something that wouldn’t actually break skin to ease my anxiety
@@mattg7977I've experienced that sensation during acupuncture treatments, as we as during myofascial release treatments, and the OT said it was normal and to be expected. (I don't remember why, though.) I personally view it with curiosity and take as evidence that something positive is (hopefully) happening to that part of my body.
I've had dozens of normal acupuncture sessions, with actual needles. This is a bit different, cause this mat doesn't give you that paralising feeling in your muscles, if you put a tension to them, like moving your arm while having needles in it. This mat really helps to relax. So much, that I have to set an alarm to wake up - my longest nap was exactly 1h 32min 😅 I use it 2-3 times a week.
I remember back many years ago when I was 20 I walked through a creek with lots of sharp pebbles, it was difficult at first to walk on the sharp pebbles but after 5 minutes I actually enjoyed it I felt tingles up and down my leg it was invigorating! I definitely would use a mat like that

So glad you worked your way through this. I am an acupressure pracitioner and have the exact same mat. It goes with me everywhere I travel. When you fall asleep on it, the deep relaxation is ultimately healing. I don't think I could stand on it though. Reflexology insoles are great for feet. Nice report. 👍❤
@@LauraTryUKHi, it's identical to yours. I didn't know it had levels. When I travel I take the Shakti mat, a small, firm roller and a foot acupressure ball. Relaxation is key for healing. Enjoy and be well. Love your stuff!
Haha, I brought my Shakti mat on a two week bicycle tour! We slept in a tent and didn't even take a stove with us but my mat had to come! Without the foam though but I'm so glad I didn't talk myself out of it.
Thanks for being so brave. I bought one of these at a yard sale for 2 dollars with the pillow. Forgot exactly what you said when you first tried it but I wasn't on camera so it was more xxx rated. I figured a second time would kill me for sure. Did play with the pillow some but---. But now I'm gonna pull it back out and go for it. Won't settle for any less than the relaxation you got. Thanks!!! I do remember getting off was worse

I get the muscle fascia thing as that is what foam rolling is for. absolutely excruciating pain the first months were of doing that. Not sold on the flow of chi - but acupressure/micro massage/ relaxing muscles I'm comfortable with. I'm moving more towards the idea that a lot of the things we do - cold exposure, sauna, exercise, foam rolling and this - are all forms of exposing ourselves to discomfort and having the mental resilience to put ourselves through it. And it is that process that leads to a lot of the benefits we experience. I may see if I can pick myself up one of these.
I suffer from severe back muscle cramps/spasms twice yearly as a result of disc issues and these mats have saved my sanity. Once the spasms start i am in for 10 days of acute pain but once i lie on the mat the spasms subside and i am pain free. Sadly the effect doesn't last but it does greatly help and the mat is one of the best things i have bought. I absolutely swear by it. But yes, getting off is agony. 😅
I have just bought a similar mat. Whilst I'm not convinced by acupuncture or chi, I do think your points make sense. The pain may well stimulate endorphins and blood flow. Giving time to yourself to relax is also likely a benefit. The focus on body sensations and breathing are both common meditative techniques. Given how sensitive I am to bits in my bed - sock lint, crumbs, sand, etc. - I was surprised at how easily I fall asleep on this thing.
I don't believe in the whole chi thing, either. But I do think it helps by calming down our nervous system. I think what Eastern practitioners refer to as chi is really our nerves. And that's why acupuncture even has solid studies that show its effectiveness.
Hi there, I’m curious how you feel after using an acupuncture mat with chronic back pain as I also have it, so any advice would be super useful thanks!
@abdul-hakeemhussain2551 the mat alongside the correct exercises prescribed by my deep tissue therapist as cured my pain. By the end of a day I used to be stiff as a board and I used to move like a robot, I'd lie on the mat for maybe 30 - 60mins and I'd loosen right up, also because it's painful I think my nervous system has calmed down.
@@wiffer22222 First of all thank you for taking time out of your day to reply to me. From one chronic pain warrior to another, I am proud of you that you have reached a stage in your life where you are pain free, wishing you the best health! Reading the comments I felt unsure about the acupuncture mat because I’ve been sold on so many different products & services in the past 2 years that are supposedly expected to help “get rid of the pain” but haven’t so I’ve always been skeptical since. You don’t mind me asking but how long did your recovery phase take before you reached a point in becoming pain free & do you still get little nags, aches & pains here & there or has your pain completely been eliminated? I know it’s different for each person but I’m just looking for some honest hope
I’ve had one for years & it’s the best thing ever. I have to set a timer because it’s hypnotic to me - puts me to sleep every time. I love it for back pain.
Tried this after watching your video! I absolutely love it!! Has helped with my neck pain, low back pain, mobility, and sleep! So awesome! Thank you for doing this video!
I've had it for a couple of years now, I use it almost every day, I know it relaxes me so much that I fall asleep on it. Great stuff and I recommend it to everyone. I don't use it with clothes, but directly on the body.
I have been using an acupressure mat for about 15 years and I love it! The pricking only lasts a couple minutes and then I only feel warmth. but in fairness I do have a fairly high tolerance for pain. It is relaxing and helps me sleep and anytime you can increase blood circulation you are doing tremendous good for your body
I had one and started using it with a towel over it so I could slowly get used to it, but I never got used to it. After seeing this, I might try it again.
I was using one of these, sporadically, some years ago, in attempt to relieve back pain. I typically used it in bed and never felt it was painful in any way. In fact I used to fall asleep while on it. Today I decided to try it on the floor, assuming the experience would be different as there was no soft cushioning underneath to even out and probably reducing the pressure. To my surprise it felt no different. I had to check the mirror afterwards to see if there where any marking and redness :-) ..there was. 10 minutes flew by and I will continue using it for a while as I am a big fan of circulation. On to feet next.... I guess I will be eating my words pretty quickly :-D
It hurts initially but I ended up falling asleep on it. Very conformable and life changing. I wish the pads are wider for more coverage on those who have broad shoulders.
Maybe to get your shoulders you could lay sideways the mat instead of long ways. You'll have to do your back in sections instead of in one go. I'm wide shouldered too.
I started with the LIGHT version to pace myself into it. It actually works. Helps me fall asleep, u looks so much tension and calms my mind. Gotta get atleast 15 Min in
Had mine for a while and find lying on it really helps with a lot of soreness in the back muscles. I think because the pressure 'forces' me to relax. Never been brave enough to stand on it for more than a minute though, let alone fall asleep on it!
I was recommended by a friend to try this. Thought it was going to be more painful than it is (I don’t find it that painful actually in comparision to other types of pain). I mostly use it when I’m anxious at night or a bit stiff in my body. It just relaxes me and helps me fall asleep quicker. Love it!
Applause for Laura's ability to risk potentially abusing herself for the sake of a challenge, even for practices she's skeptical of! Massive respect! I too experience the effect of endorphins after cycling, especially at elevation, and it's awesome.
I’ve been using mine to help with running recovery. I run in minimalist shoes so does help relax the fascia after a long run. Also use the pillow under my calves which helps release tightness.
What body parts do you use it on Paul? I am finding it is helping release some tension in my body. I have also sprained my calf so wonder if would help with that.
Am I the only one who just randomly buys the things that Laura recommends (even indirectly)? Saw this video, ordered the mat. I'm still saving up for cryotherapy too

Lol, I think most people start with rounder, less spikey stone acupressure mats for standing. You dove straight into the deep end! I'm looking to try acupressure myself, so thanks for offering such an end depth review from a beginner's perspective.
A few years ago , I was suffering with Gastritis with severe stomach pain , I was ready to go to the hospital. As a last resort I pulled out my acupressure mat , and put my naked back on it. And bingo, the pain was much reduced and I avoided a hospital visit. I felt much better that evening and got a good night sleep without the need for any medication/ other medical intervention.
I love my shakti mat! It was a gift and I got the pillow too. Unfortunately it’s not long hair friendly,so the first time I used it the pillow was still attached to my head when I got up 😂 Instead I use the pillow underneath the back of my knees when lying supine. I like to hug my knees in towards my chest and get a really nice lower back release too. Standing on it will definitely help with PF 👍🏼
I don't like the mat but the pillow SAVED me from a pinched neck nerve! I literary thought I would need spinal injections or be on morphine...but within three days of lying daily on the spiky neck it pillow stopped the nerve being pinched! It put my neck back into its correct position.
I tried my friends BackLaxx mat last week and I’m quite exited to test it tomorrow when it’s delivered. I always had a lot of stress and never learned how to relax. Maybe it’s a new way to do something for my body. I tested it just once and watched a lot of reviews… bam! Bought it. I hope it helps me. 🎉

So I was lying on my acupressure mat to start a relaxing evening and decided to check out TH-cam videos...Hey! What you're doing looks very familiar. 🙂I've used my mat enough that lying down isn't that difficult any more. I do fall asleep sometimes. Getting up is still hard though. I tried my feet on it a long time ago but it was too intense. After your video I'm trying it again, working up to it gradually by gently putting my feet on it while sitting down. Thanks for another great video!
so funny Ken, you on your mat watching me on my mat 😆 The feet are intense. They are still sore when I step on it but think they are getting better slowly.
It's been in the closet for years and years. Thank you for reminding me i actually have it. But when I did use it with my boyfriend, and he would literally fall asleep after 5 minutes of torture first. It actually feels so good after you get used to it. I'm sure it may help with blood flow and build collagen production for the skin. Hmmm. 🤔

I have the mat and pad, I have had them for 15 years, it relieves my migraines and neck and back aches, I never had any bad feeling from them. But I have done Acupuncture since 2011 regularly. You aren’t supposed to do it in a sports bra, and before that acupressure, which hurts so bad , but it helped me heal.
Laura, this was brilliant. Too many gems to quote them all. And sorry to say, your pain did provide some comedic relief 😋 Which level mat did you go for? You have sold me.
Some of the mental benefits remind me of the process i go through when i cant sleep because i have period pains. The process where i realise i need to find zen and allow my body to feel without it upsetting me

This is so funny to watch, because this was my exact experience! I was bought one a month or so ago and it’s done wonders for my lower back. I have yet to stand on it for more than 10 seconds though, I can’t bear it 😅
I have the same Acupressure Mat actually 2. A short one and long one with the pillow but I don't use the pillows and I never could get use to them. I do fall asleep right away. I love using the mat while on vacation and especially after my vacation after getting off the plane and arriving to home to get my body back in balance. In my opinion the pillow isn't made for the majority of people it's not how our body attached to our neck lay. But beside all that I love the Acupressure Mat!
Back when Jan 6th rolled around here in the states. I needed a redirect with my mind. I knew right then I needed to lay on these here spikes. It was the ticket I needed to destress from bullshit in order to quite my mind and ease into relaxation. I would recommend this and try your feet while sitting if it's your first time or wear a sweater for your back. It's easier then taking a cold shower for 15 sec. This forces you to focus on your breathing. Take care and thx for sharing!
Someone I know actually gave me one of these! She’d received it as a gift and just didn’t like how it felt. I was curious and thinking of buying one, then she mentioned she had one and didn’t want it, so I got a freebie! I tried it out, got used to the pain somewhat, but didn’t feel any benefits. I also had the feeling if nausea when using the mat a few times, which made it less fun.
the nausea doesn't sound fun - I wonder what level or intensity you have as there are different ones. I think if I experienced nausea I wouldn't use it again either.
I’ve been using one for years. It is for sure rough at first, but your body gets used to it. You can also try wearing socks at first until you get used to it. I jump up and down on mine now with my bare feet. I also lay on it before bed and it helps me get relaxed to sleep.
Great video. However I nearly peep myself laughing as you first tried it.. those reactions were pure gold. Well done for you perseverance and reaching your rewards.
I’ve fallen asleep on these things! After the first 30 seconds it’s actually really nice and when you remove it the warmth that comes really takes away pain.

@@klimtkahlo I'd say that self-imposed pain is completely different to the pain I have (had) on a regular basis.
It's pseudoscience
If you have back pain and no disease or structural deformation then I suggest that you try changing your diet and have an osteopath look at your spinal alignment. For 90% of people it comes from diet.
@@michaeljordan215 no it doesn't

Genious idea! 👏🏻 Thanks for sharing.
OMG you're hilarious! Thanks for sharing those REAL responses

OMG! My sentiments exactly! I love it and I would equate the feeling to getting a tat.
@@mattg7977I doubt it indicates any problem
I haven't had euphoria while getting them done but definitely like an addiction feeling right after. Like I want to get more for the experience itself, not necessarily for the pretty pictures.

I sleep on one every night for low back relief.
I have chronic pain in my neck and upper back. A friend who has similar issues introduced me to acupressure mats like 5 years ago and now I can’t go without it. It’s one of the few things that can help a pain flare or can even stop it/avoid it if I catch it early enough.
What kind of mat do you use? I have awful chronic pain?
@unknownreno2246 I'm sure most would be very similar. Mine is gaiam, and it works for me. I bought one just because, ended up using if after my ex left recently and she took the bed, our couch wrecked my back and I couldn't have lasted the week if it wasn't for something like this
Same for me, I couldn't live without it now
I have had a shakti mat. I love it. First times were challenging. Now I fall asleep on it.
I use it to help with my anxiety. My anxiety manifests itself physically and this seems to calm my nervous system down tremendously.

The acupressure mat
Deep breathing exercises
Ending my showers with cold water
EXERCISE!!!
Going for walks
Reading/lessening electronics
Binaural beats
Weighted blanket
Prayer!!! (You could also meditate if prayer isn't your thing, but I have to say my relationship with Jesus helped me sooo much through this nightmare)
Journaling
B vitamins and Magnesium
Some people benefit from things like Ashwaganda and GABA. Unfortunately, these made my anxiety much much worse. But from my research that is extremely uncommon. I'm just a freak 😂
And once my anxiety overall started improving with the above, I began using exposure therapy to build up my tolerance to anxiety triggers.
Well…then I have to try it, too. My nervous system is so dysregulated it ain’t even funny anymore
I definitely would use a mat like that
I used to walk barefoot on pavement, and for that reason I'd probably enjoy one that's heated.
I have these and it did hurt for the first couple of times. But afterwards, I even noticed myself falling asleep while lying on them. Very relaxing.
yep it def gets less intense the more you use it. I like the intensity so I dont use it too often to maintain that kick. 🙂

you like it that much you take it even when you travel? wow!
My daughter gifted one to me about 10 years ago, and wouldn't be without it, I have found it does everything you have said it does, I love mine!
I may see if I can pick myself up one of these.
oh Frankie, foam rolling, I can't stand it.
I think I feel the same about the chi, but perhaps we will never know.
I love your thoughts on this!
You can easily do all of that without the mat
@derpderpin1568 I can, but it doesn't feel the same.
I don't believe in the whole chi thing, either. But I do think it helps by calming down our nervous system. I think what Eastern practitioners refer to as chi is really our nerves. And that's why acupuncture even has solid studies that show its effectiveness.
Ive had one for a year now, it has done wonders for my chronic back pain. Regularly fall asleep on it now.
Been using these daily for over 15 years. Great for relaxation.
After a couple of uses I fell asleep on mine from some time just after 10:15pm until 12:30am, on the living room floor. Sooo good.
Tried this after watching your video! I absolutely love it!! Has helped with my neck pain, low back pain, mobility, and sleep! So awesome! Thank you for doing this video!
Thanks for the content. I could not stop watching.
My quote for the week: "All that takes effort. I just can't be bothered."

I'm pleased you liked that bit 😉
I love my mat and pillow. Helped me immensely with sore upper back and neck!
It works because it hurts so bad, that when you get up whatever aches and pains you had before don’t seem nearly as bad.
Love it!
First I have to say I enjoyed the comical honesty- it was awesome
Applause for Laura's ability to risk potentially abusing herself for the sake of a challenge, even for practices she's skeptical of! Massive respect! I too experience the effect of endorphins after cycling, especially at elevation, and it's awesome.
I was skeptical, I still thinks it's madness how this is good for the body - but it does send all the right signals. Weird.
You have a low threshold to class this as 'abuse'...
5:09 I don't even have one of those and that's how I feel watching this part, you're a braver person than I could everr be
I’ve been using mine to help with running recovery. I run in minimalist shoes so does help relax the fascia after a long run. Also use the pillow under my calves which helps release tightness.
What body parts do you use it on Paul?
I am finding it is helping release some tension in my body.
I have also sprained my calf so wonder if would help with that.

It definitely took me time to get used to it, but I love using it on my back and butt and feet. I have fallen asleep on it actually. Very relaxing.
Ive been using one of these since dealing with long covid, it really takes the fight or flight feeling eay down for me.

I'm looking forward to using this mat. Your hypothesis sounds accurate.
Do you have one already Aryana?
I'm glad you like the hypothesis 😀
@@LauraTryUK Laura, as soon as I finished your video, I ordered the mat and pillow. I've been watching you for 3 years and find your curiosity and willingness to research on yourself inspiring.
Fall asleep on mine regularly, so chill. Love it
This was quite fascinating. Thanks for this very intentional video!
I have one and use it on and off for relaxation. It helps sleep
I agree the pillow friggin kills!
I love these mats 🙂 I used to lie on one every night before sleep. It really softens up my muscles so I can fall asleep easier 🙂
I've got one, love it, fall asleep a lot on it. just don't sneeze when you're on it 🤧 😮
I’m cracking up right now! I bought a mat and haven’t tried it yet. I’m not supposed to be laughing though since I have strained rib cartilage at the moment (don’t ask), so once that heals I’ll be trying my mat! I appreciate your review, so much honesty!!!
Great video. I’m definitely intrigued in the mat now. Love your video style
Bought this two years ago and gave up on it.
May try again based on your experiences.
One of ours cats love my Gym and stretching time, always helping :) The pain thing will be like having a Tattoo, I always get the feeling that a bit of pain is good for you when you put yourself through pain for the sake of art. Followed by feeling like you've cleared a load of stuff out mentally.
That’s exactly the reason why I have no tattoos whatsoever. I would never want to inflict any more pain than the one I already feel on a daily basis on myself! 😄
I totally get it. I saw a great graphics just yesterday to demonstrate what our said: th-cam.com/video/gR_f-iwUGY4/w-d-xo.html
@@klimtkahlo I'd say that self-imposed pain is completely different to the pain I have (had) on a regular basis. Personally I have to deal with Neuropathic pain, acupuncture & massage didn't work but I enjoyed it and a friend did recommend to me to get a Shakti Mat but I never got around to it, Nerve Block injection didn't work, Amitriptyline had frustrating side effects and I didn't want to feel like it was changing my brain! Currently self-medicating something natural that works fantastically and even makes my mental state better like its re-connects broken connections, without side effects.
@@LauraTryUK yeah, i'm doing the cold shower thing too so Gym training plus cold shower right after hot shower and i'll feel amazing after.
