You almost had it all, unfortunately you didn't burp the air out of your system. You can do that by leaving the cap of starting the bike and give it little throttle few times let it run for 1 min and all the air should be let out the top. Then after first ride check the coolant level again. Bamooo
Hi Mike! This video helped me to change my coolant from my R1. I was not finding the drain, but thank you very much for posting this video in step by step. I am subscribing to your channel. I am from Brazil. Congratulations. ✌👊✊✊✊
I would have also properly flushed it out. Unless the thermostat opens up, you'll still have old coolant in that section of the radiatior hose loop. You could add another step to fill completely with de-ionised water and get up to temperature which will clean out the bits missed. Then drain once more when cool and then top up with coolant (Blipping to remove air bubbles) Nice video all the same
From my 2009 manual Radiator capacity (including all routes) 2.73 L (2.89 US qt, 2.40 imp qt) Coolant reservoir capacity (up to the maximum level mark) 0.25 L (0.26 US qt, 0.22 imp, qt)
can this be done the same way to my 13 fz8? and is it necessary to use yamalube? i called the dealer and the service guy said any 50-50 will work fine. I just want it done proper. also what is the better battery for the FZ8 2013 i just wanna grab one soon i found some sick deals on yuasa and shorai's...oh brake fluid dot4 cool? and the bike is on mobil 1 10-40 with k&n filter but can you answer the rest please? what number octane do you run 93?
Any time after you ride there will be a time when the temp gets hotter for a bit then will start to cool down. Once you turn it off the fan and coolant are no longer cooling the bike so for a bit of time it will get hotter. It's normal. It will cool after the engine starts to cool off.
James Jones just seems absurd and engine ice is only good for 256 degrees. Even after a full flush temps still get up there, thinking about ditching the cross plane, too many quirks for a slower bike
@@davidstancu2963 with the new engine they sacrificed a little of top speed to give better low end and mid range. Honestly I love it. Noone really lives in high range much unless your drag racing or on a track with a long straight. The bike is made to put down power smooth and fast while turning and exiting corners.
No burping the system? I always burp the system after adding new coolant to get the air out.
what do you mean by burping the system?

Yeah that's what I thought too.
Always cool when these are done
for reference for other Riders,
Well Done Mike12r1 !!!
Then again, it's Nice to have an air-cooled Ducati...
;)
Nice mate. I don't even have a R1 and still I found this amusing. good job! ;)
A tip: you can watch series at Flixzone. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies these days.
@Cameron Jesus Yup, I've been using flixzone for months myself =)
@Cameron Jesus Yup, I've been using Flixzone for since november myself :D

Kawal dobrego poradnika na pewno komus sie przyda. Piona:)
Dobry poradnik :)
Why do you take out the coolant and put water instead? Isn't it better with cooland because it has a higher boiling temp?
Is it a Yamaha thing to change the radiator fluid every so many killometers? Usually you change it yearly?
Is this the same on the R125?
Cześć MIKE widze ze sezonu jeszcze nie kończysz :-) pozdrawiam
Poradnik 1 klasa! :)
Łapa w górę, pozdro!
Thank you very much for this vid. Do you also have a vid for changing the sparkplugs on the same bike?
Also can pay to flush it through with abit of water aswell after you drop the coolant! Great vid!
Yes but with distilled water
Doesn't the coolant drain plug have a washer Gasket to replace?
Thanks man...Great video!!!!
Lol,mam zestaw identycznych lejków :D Ile chłodziwa około mieści układ chłodzący w R1?
May i ask why after i change my r1 coolant. the temp is high than before.
When i fill up the coolant.theres no air bubbles. But when stary the temp is high.. or just let high till the fan is on ?
Good vid big dog!!!
Awesome video!!!
Good informative vid !! make more vids like this bro !
thanks for the vid. very descriptive
Why just for winter? are you afraid if will freeze and damage something?
You leave water in it during the winter and not antifreeze the water will freeze in engine and crack the block
To moto wygląda jak nowe z salonu :D
Wszystko spoko, ale moim zdaniem musisz zainwestować w dobre wkrętaki imbusowe a nie się takim ogryzkiem męczysz. Pozdro Majk!
aaa so nice to have an air cooled bike
How many litres?
Hello Mike - What is the coolant capacity on the R1. I have a 2013 R1, not sure if it matters.. Just want to make sure I prepare the mix accurately.
Fill until it reaches the top.
From my 2009 manual
Radiator capacity (including all routes) 2.73 L (2.89 US qt, 2.40 imp qt)
Coolant reservoir capacity (up to the maximum level mark) 0.25 L (0.26 US qt, 0.22 imp, qt)
Good coolant changed

Nice job bro! LwG
Mike, muito bom esse vídeo, acompanho o teu canal direto aqui no Brasil,
Abraços!
Bardzo ładnie
wy r u drive it on water
woda osadza w układzie kamień powinno sie stosowac tylko plyn chlodniczy
Pozdro
To fakt, ale woda lepiej chłodzi :)
Zawsze można kupić wodę destylowaną :) Nawet w PL jest sprzedawana w 5-cio litrowych butelkach.
Cóż to za moto w tle? :)
Czemu woda na lato?
Nie na lato tylko takie są wymogi żeby jeździć na torze :)
The coolant reservoir cap wasnt fitted properly please go to someone who can do it right to save your bike !
What do you mean? Looking into changing mine and need to know the proper way.
