    I'm late to this party but I've been binge watching your "skinny on" series and I love that you explain WHY these certain ingredients are bad. If you're into health even a little bit you know trans fats etc. are bad but no one ever explains why. And you also explain why manufacturers are putting them in there. I've just never gotten all the information in one place and it is SO appreciated!!

    Thank you sooooo much! Finally! a TH-camr who actually can break down and instruct the little pieces of nutritional dieting and who knows their stuff too. By the way, you have a new subscriber. :) I appreciate you providing info on health and nutrition. It's so hard to understand nutrition these days. There are so many misconceptions and loss information. I am so glad I discovered you on TH-cam. Also, you remind me of, Lauren Conrad. Very educated and a great instructor. You look like her also.

    You should make a video about pasta sauce, that stuff is so ridiculously sugary most of the time. I didn't realize it until I started to pay attention to the ingredients. Possibly condiments too just because I think it would be good to know which are semi healthy.

    What is the best way to add a little sweetness to a healthy 1 ingredient pb? I want to avoid stuff with these oils in them but I have a hard time swallowing nut butter that is strictly the nuts because of the flavor. Is a little honey okay? Or maybe stevia?

    I am from UK and I never touch anythjng with hydrogenated fat. But problem is manufacturers here are replacing it with Palm oil.
    I really wish our government would sort this out as palm oil is in bread, chocolate etc. It is terrible. I only use Meridian 100% Cashew butter or Peanut butter but other foods are just loaded with palm oil.
    Great video. xx

    By the way, I've heard from several sources that only partially hydrogenated oils give you trans-fat and not the fully hydrogenated oils. Were they wrong? I'm not a health expert.

    Thanks for the info! Making me reconsider my love for Justin's almond butter! I'm curious though, since you seem to be so interested in nutrition and healthy eating, what's your opinion on eating meat? There are lots of studies out there that say that eating meats lead to the same types of heart disease that you explain palm oil and hydrogenated oil cause. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts!

    • @BeccaBristow
      @BeccaBristow  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha I feel you girl Justin's is so good..I still eat it here and there too. And that's a great question! I personally do it eat meat, but I don't eat a ton and when I do it's usually always lean meats (like chicken or turkey breast). I firmly believe in eating a balanced diet with lots and lots of fruits & veggies, and then everything else in moderation! Hope this helps xx

      +Haylee Schmirler Sure! It has minimal ingredients and nothing weird added (at least from the last time I've seen the label). Personally I prefer the real thing but if you are looking to cut some calories here and there in your diet but still want the taste of PB I think it's a great option!

    Is Justins almond butter safe? I thought it was but it has palm oil on the ingredient list.

    • @BeccaBristow
      @BeccaBristow  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ashley 5827 In Justin's it's technically palm fruit oil instead of palm kernel oil (when 'palm oil' is listed on a label, it's palm kernel oil) which is not nearly as "bad" or atherogenic. I like Justin's and I eat it! I would probably eat it more if it wasn't so pricey :) Hope this helps xo

    I've been eating "Adam's Old Fashion peanut butter" for years and years. I love it.
    When you get it home, set it upside down for a day or two which makes it easier to stir. I try to find the furthest out date, currently 7 dec. When it is fresh, it only takes one or two swipes with your knife to get mixed up. It's made by the Smuckers co..

    Hi Becca, almond butter is like 3x more expensive than peanut butter, and one reason people eat peanut butter is it's low cost option for protein. One disadvantage of using only peanuts peanut butter is that stirring it is difficult and time consuming once it naturally settles, you can periodically flip and jars you're storing to reduce the mixing effort required. Finally, you mentioned people perceive 2tbs servings as too little and are likely to eat a lot more than that, is that true? 2 tbs is quite a lot considering the fat content.

    Thank you!!! This has informed me so well. That I now buy peanut butter were I literally can press the machine to grind the peanuts or almonds. And I know what I am eating. Taste way more delicious than jiff which I was eating before. Im so amazed how we eat our own death in products like this.....

    I just wonder Do you know why the companies put extra stuff like palm oil into the peanut better? well the more they put more stuff, the more they spend money to produce the item! O.O??

      put your favorite nut in a 600 watt food processor for 5 minutes , you will have the best you ever had in your life , do not add oil or anything , nuts already have oil.....
