What The Free Burma Rangers and their founder, a former US special forces offcier and current pastor are doing is the exact opposite of traditional humanitarian groups.
They're what a former policy adviser for the Red Cross calls a "humaniatrian resistance". They might be controversial, but they get things done

free Burma ranger did incredible job for the oppress ppl from hard to reach area. Their operative area have almost no access from humanitarian groups nor former government services. The situation inside Burma, not just conflict between different perspectives but the minority/ oppress vs the dictatorship. Myanmar Red Cross society merely acting as propaganda for Military dictatorship. Even UN organisation ignore ppl voice or concern.
Exactly, most NGOs and especially the UN are completely corrupt.
Don't knock on the Red Cross, the neutrality is there for a purpose. But however, we need both Red Cross and these Rangers to cover both sides of the humanitarian spectrum from the wider outside of conflict stabilization to the on the ground works. Plus having these rangers on the ground would help encourage the rebel sides to adhere to humanitarian principles as well like not executing prisoners of war.

Those are some powerful words. A lot of humanitarian aid groups around the world help enable horrible situations to continue indefinitely, but they are wonderful vehicles for virtue signaling.
I think this is basically a forgotten war. When i mention this civil war most folks don't know what i'm talking about.

David is an american. You cannot say he is CIA but he's got strong connections. His father has been both a missonnary and a CIA man back in the 70'. He's been a ranger. Nowaday, he's on his own. And he's doing great job.

The Free Burma Rangers are doing what the UN Peacekeeping forces should have been doing (but failed to even show up) with the Responsibility to Protect the people under attack from the terror regime.
The fact that the a foreign person can roam freely and not die or get captured shows how ineffective the junta is.

He's american. He's got connections but he is not a governement man. He's got his own purpose and from what I could experience from him personnaly txenty years ago, he's genuinly dedicated. Still, he's a missonnary and I consider religion as a plague.
