This was the first time I've seen Alfred Steele on video, or heard his voice. He seems a lot more attractive and youthful than most photographs give him credit for. Thank you for posting.
I am a huge Joan Crawford fan and have seen all her films save for a very few. 1 is “Rain” which I had the pleasure of viewing recently and WOW 🔥….I am so disappointed that Joan was embarrassed by that film. What a performance. She embodied Sadie Thompson
What a thrill to see this footage in its entirety! Thank you so much! Joan is gorgeous and so well spoken despite her nervousness. The way she looks at Al Steele, you can feel their love. I like how Joan’s humor comes through here and there too.❤
Alfred was her one true love. My heart broke for her they were only married a few short years. I'm in the middle of reading every book about Joan Crawford and watching all of her movies. Such a great actress! They don't make them like this any more.
@Kimberley_Black_White_TV That's right Kimberley, they don't make them like joan, or her husband and the young starlet and the interviewer any more, what i noticed was at the 9:02 mark the interviewer interrupted the conversation momentarily, and apologised in real time for doing that, in 2024 when that happens in our modern times the interviewer all too often (but not always) not only interrupts but actually runs railroad all over the conversation seeking to demoralise the guest. also Joan appeared quite often on the Lux radio theatre hosted by Cecil B. DeMille, its on the net if you look. The best one is the Lux Radio Theatre Digitally Restored Collection
@@Meepsmusic63 Thank you for that! I look it up!! I never tire of it and get so happy when I find something I've not seen before on Ms. Crawford. And you are correct in your observations of the video. I loved especially how lovingly Joan looked at her husband and how gracious she was with the young actress. Heather Sears was her name. I looked her up and quite sadly she passed away in her early 50s from cancer.
@@Kimberley_Black_White_TV I didn't know she died so young Kimberly, a great film (just incase) is What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, that started joan and bette Davis, fantastic film. thanks for responding
what wonderful waomn and acress she was, I love her so much, look when she is protecintg the young actress next to her, interesting also the only interview with Alfred Steel
Great actress, gracious lady, and lovely to look at in all of her films. Loved Joan Crawford and every film I've seen of hers and I've seen many. My favorite actresses are Joan Crawford and Olivia de Havilland.
Im glad she found true love in Alfred. She said later how lucky she was when many find it at all. Also she seems like she would be a truly wonderful friend.
Oh, my Godness. This Video is priceless. There's another BBC Video interview from the Sixties. But in this one she still looks young and fresh. Crawford.. The ultimate movie Star🌟
Joan always comes across as considerate and self-effacing. Two of her children and her grandchildren adored her. I’ve come to believe Mommy Dearest was claptrap. Christina made a career out of bashing her mother. Crawford’s body of work will last.
I love Joan. But that young actress towards the end seemed terrified. The intertwining of hands, what was that? But I think Joan was nerve-wracked too, her first TV interview. Alfred Steele seemed like good solid guy, a shame he passed so soon, Joan really depended on him. She was tired of fending for herself for so long in Hollywood.
I like how Joan gets the big bouquet and the actress for hire is left with the scrawny little bunch hehe. Joan knows how to project glamore like nobody else, perfectly poised, her words sounding like a script, and she's got that adoring gaze down pat. The epitome of the queen of the cinema.
I used to think the cringingly embarrassing pauses in this infamous interview were all Crawford's doing, but it's the interviewer who is killing it with those turgid questions. Was he only told five minutes before broadcast that he was hosting it? "Tell me about glamour"... "What do you have to do in the film?" It's like watching a man hurtling to the ground, and only very slowly thinking about opening his parachute.
Rather amazing to see Joan’s very first television interview which would have been live. She was naturally nervous. I wonder if she agreed to it because it wouldn’t be seen in the USA? A shame they didn’t get to Derek Bond who had been a great hope for British cinema in the 1940s, started by starring in Nicholas Nickleby but his career didn’t really take off.

Joan is awesome. Love her moves. Such class !
She was a great personality, immaculate actress, and stunning woman.

She's glorious here, thank you for this ! Every inch a perfect lady !🤩🤩🤩🤩

Joan looks spectacular here. So graceous and kind.

Always a great personality yet demure with public adoration; good to see how happy she was with her family and husband.
Thank you for this excellent upload..... It is important to hear her husband talk about her.......
@golddust
That really was Gold, pure magic, Thank you

She’s such a real person, sweet…. And such a STRONG actress. The Greats!
My favorite Joan Crawford movie is sudden fear I also have her autograph . 8:18
Her twin daughters loved her so much and thankfully defended her throughout their entire lives. ❤❤

She's fascinating. Always. ✨
I love how she looks adoringly at her husband when he joins her in the interview.
Wow, this is a gold dust interview. Touching the affection, love and reassurance in the hand clasping. Thanks for the upload.
She once said she was very lucky, she and Alfred had four wonderful years together, many never even get that.
She said, "I don't mean make every day the 4th of July." Anyone else get the irony? 🤣
Im glad she found true love in Alfred. She said later how lucky she was when many find it at all. Also she seems like she would be a truly wonderful friend.
I read about her being a harridon but every interview she comes across as gentle.

I have never seen this before. Thank you so much for posting this!
She was a noble person
That mid Atlantic accent on a Texas girl.
I love her ❤️ ..
They were all awesome! This is better than telly so far. ❤❤😊😊
Great clip, thanks for posting!
Una vera milady star ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

That’s how interviews were conducted. Also, she knew every question in advance and had agreed them.

Poor Heather only got a bouquet half the size of Joans!
That's only fitting.
Seems like a terribly awkward interview. Love Joan, though.
хорошее было время...
хорошая жизнь - только зря она усыновила детей..
это не её способ жить.. интервью странное для восприятия
But wasn’t she really a horrible person?
No.
We will never really know for sure
She seems a bit fake
