    Considering we're in the rust belt Alex, I think you should have touched on the importance of pre-installation lubrication of threads on the strut body. I believe we get coilovers to be able to adjust our suspension more than once, before you use it, take them apart and lube the threads with some anti-seize. Then thank yourself 3 weeks later when your springs settle and you need to raise up a bit.

    to get the most out of your stance setup, adjust the ride hight on each side to match wheel gap. to get the most out of your performance setup, get a corner balance.

    My understanding of twin vs. mono tube contradicts with what's said in this video. Mono-tube coilovers seem to be the more costly option from most companies. KWV3 seems to be the odd exception because it needs the twin-tube to allow the feature that separately adjust the bound/rebound valving.

    The whole point of height adjustable suspension is to be able to properly corner balance a car, reduction in ride height is just an added benefit.

    • @ryanscanlan9875
      @ryanscanlan9875 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure but lower centre of gravity is a great performance mod, even with just good springs.

  • @TestarossaMusicista
    @TestarossaMusicista 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Actually, when paired with a good damper, standard OD coilover sleeves have a lot of performance benefits and is far better than cheap coilovers because the damping characteristics are better and spring rates can be tuned. Also, having an adjustable coilover body generally shows cheap construction and a lack of development because it allows the company to build a standard size without worrying about stroke length. Basically all coilovers designed for real motorsports are made with the correct stroke in mind, so they do not require the body to be adjusted.

    • @way2dumb
      @way2dumb 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      from what i have seen, even the cheapest coils will keep the complete travel and just adjust the spring seating position up and down the tube lowering and raising you car with out changing the travel of you suspension. and you can even get a custom shaft length when you order, even with cheapo XYZ's

    I'm currently in the process of modifying my car, but it's so much $$$ I have to take some part of my paycheck every month and do some, there's no way I can do them all together. So, I divided my mods into 'stages', like roush or something, I thought it would sound cool, like "My car is in Stage 2 bro!"
    Till now there were no reason to do an actual suspension mod, because, let's be frank, I was just ricing with halos and switchback LEDs and stuff.
    But now I started my forced induction, it's become necessary to overhaul the intake, gear and the exhaust system, also aerodynamics but most importantly wheels, suspensions and breaks. Coilovers with bigger better breaks, tires and other suspension mods will make your ride more responsive, cut out body roll, improve break bias, lowering. Basically, you can stay flat in the corners. And yeah need some good old bucket seats too.

    I am looking to build my first car. I have built trucks with lifts and engine performance mods. So I bought myself a 2016 Dart and I am looking to build a super sleeper. I get the engine stuff. That's easy. It's going to get forged pistons and rods, stud kit, cam, injectors, turbo system and ECU. But I am a total noob with suspension and tire setups. It is my daily driver so I am trying to balance fun and reliability. I would like to do coilovers, 18×8 to8.5 rims. What kind of advice can you give me? What kind of setup should I budget for.

    You forgot to mention that 95% “affordable coil overs” have far worse dampening than most standard equipment. Also, most “affordable coil overs” come with springs that are far too stiff for street cars or even track cars with street tyres.
    Basically your car will bounce and not grip.
    If you actually buy a motorsport brand like MCA they will tell you the opposite about your base height adjustment, but what would they know they’ve only won World Time Attack Challenge pro class 3 times. You need to have drupe so your inside wheels wont come off the ground in a corner.
    You failed to mention corner weighting the car which is one of the most important parts of having adjustable height coil overs. .
    Not to mention lowering your car any considerable amount will normally have pour effects on handling unless you use the appropriate roll centre adjustments.
    But if you just want your car too be low and drive like shit go ahead, probably better off cutting your springs tho.

    What's the best spring rate set-up for a front wheel drive car? looking for coilovers for my 2013 Sonata and noticed that most RWD aftermarket coilovers have higher spring rate in the rear and for FWD cars it's higher in the front...thinking about going with some ISC coilovers with a pair of 8kg-front/7gk-rear set-up?

      @thedog556 lol I've got the "poke" stance with 9.5 wides all the way around but I've got about 2.5"ish front and 2" ish rear of fender gap that I wanna reduce by like .5" rear and .75" up front... I have NO interest in dragging parts on the ground of that's what you mean lol

    Twin tubes are definitely not better than monotube. I've never seen more expensive twin tubes than monotube. Some of the most high end shocks like triple bypass reservoir shocks from fox or king are all monotube design.

      Agreed with this guy definitively check out an EU evo forum possibly or even emailing HKS inquiring about the info. Brands are sometimes not terrible at responding to questions!

    • @TestarossaMusicista
      @TestarossaMusicista 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do not adjust the HKS coilovers until you have them on the car already and it's settled. HKS has the suspension corner balanced for the specified car from the factory. You're going to make the handling worse by adjusting it without thinking first.

    I'm running an h&r monotube on my e46 and a kw v3 in my e36 Compact. The difference is stunning. Espacially in midspeed corners i get so much more grip it's perfect. I thought maybe it's less comfortable but the kW gives you a Lot of comfort, the h&r doesn't.

    i have a 2015 mazda 3..ive always been into the car scene but never new the stuff that goes on behind the scenes and now that i have a well paying job im trying to get my parts sorted and learn the stuff before i get everything.. im not sure what coil overs to get, i want a flushed looked and i dont really know fitment stuff but iv e been tryna watch and understand the videos you guys post, not only that in one of your other videos you said something like if you want to really dial in your suspension your gonna wanna know what the damper and something else is..
    i know this is all gonna take time but i dont wanna just get everything and throw it all together, i wanna lay everything out and put it together the right way and make sure everything is good.. ;/
    ive asked some friends about coil overs and wheels, but i still feel lost.

      Fitment Industries okay so I’m getting the feeling you’re dodging the question.
      Is the suspension coilovers the same performance or better than bilstein?
      Obviously bilstein takes the time to run their products through various tolerance test. Does this product also have in depth testing where we can compare data?

    • @alecparkes5036

      dont buy cheap coils or anything with stiff spring rates. on a light car maybe 6k/4k ?

    • @FitmentIndustries
      @FitmentIndustries  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You definitely do not have to sacrifice ride quality to go lower, Just make sure you get a nicer set of coils from maybe TIEN, or HSD like the guy suggested before. If you get a cheaper set to save money and go low you may not like the outcome! When you're ready tho we have an awesome selection of coilovers you should check out! bit.ly/2yadOjx
