Sorta. He shouldn't have matched the coilovers to the stock parts. Length means nothing if the stiffness of the springs are different. I installed my coilovers as they came out of the box. Some manufacturers preset them for a set amount of drop... usually. When done three of my wheels were exactly 1" lower, and one had to be raised 1/8th of an inch.
Also, he never explained why he just started whacking his fenders with a hammer. That's important and you have a nice car and not some pre-banged up Miata.

When you pulled out the roller, I knew exactly what was coming from my own Miata modding experience. Always roll while its stock lol. Definitely learned way more than I already learned about the mechanics of shock absorbers, which alone was worth the watch!
Pro tip on rolling after you've already changed shocks on a double wishbone car: Unbolt the bottom of the shock, and let the control arm drop down. Put your floor jack and whatever wood blocks you need as spacers under the control arm to provide a travel stop, and you should have enough spacer to roll!

You can use a baseball bat too. If you take your time it works just as well. Ive done it before. Plus if you need a tiny bit more room for a wide wheel you can actually pull the fender outwards as you roll it. I would only attempt that being super conservative with how much you do it. Im talking a tiny bit. Time and patience is key. I didnt have to use a heatgun either and i thought i would.

The biggest thorn in my previous coilover endeavours was compressing the spring/coil to mount over the dampener. You chose the easy way by already having assembled coilovers, that made the work so smooth. There are dozens of spring compressing tools out there, most of them are an absolute health hazard. Every car has different shaped plates so good luck finding one for your car - LPT: The ones that say: UNIVERSAL are the ones to steer totally clear of. I had one car (BMW Z4 E86) where the front springs only had 3 or 4 coils and i had to search numerous shops to find one with one of these really expensive hydraulic mounts.
So - depending on the car and if you need to assemble/disassemble the coilover this can turn into a mighty nightmare.
I love this channel btw., you rock Zach!

The lower spring perch is for adjusting ride height. The lower shock mount is for adjusting the travel ratio so the shock bottoms out on the bump stop before your tire contacts the inside of the fender. If you end up with negative preload, add a helper spring.

    Nice intro to shock/spring mods.
    Couple things though:
    1. When putting new coilovers on your car, its not a terrible idea to put an appropriate anti-seize compound on the adjuster and lockrings. they may be aluminum, but coilover threads and lock rings are still known to corrode and seize up. it happens on all quality of coilovers too, whether high end or not, and once they're seized they're nigh impossible to adjust again. more often than not if you need your adjustability back, you're sending them in for warranty, or buying a new assembly/set. anti-seize is a really cheap, easy preventative measure to make sure your coilovers are always easy to adjust.
    2. don't adjust height from the middle ring. that's the preload lock-ring. set preload with the top ring and then lock it in place with the lock-ring.
    3. there are some amazing shock and lowering spring combos out there that outperform most base level coilovers at half the price. H&R race springs with Koni Yellow adjustables or Bilstein performance shocks will beat the piss out of most coilovers around the $1000 mark, and you can get into a full set for $500-700 USD for most common applications. they may not go as low, but the shock damping and spring rates are superior to just about anything below $1100 in the coilover market, aside from a good deal on budget coilovers from one of the companies that offers custom spring rates and valving on their shocks. if you care more about performance than ride height, are looking to set-it-and-forget-it, and you're trying to do things on a budget, quality adjustable/performance struts/shocks and quality springs (or Ground Control kits for a bit more) will offer better performance than most coilovers 2-3 times the price.

Before, my stock tires sucked, wheels were heavy, and shocks and struts were all worn bad.
Got new sticky tires, and lighter wheels and they handled so well, my tires wouldn't screech, but instead my suspension would give out and skip.
Got new OEM struts and shocks combined with Eibach Sportline lowering springs and my car shows just how well it works.
Taking on and off ramps at 55+ without my tires making a sound, or my suspension giving out on me.
also, the lack of bounce and body roll is INSANE

I had a '01 Tracker with a completely blown front right strut. You could pump the thing by hand with no effort. I was racing home one day because I thought there was an emergency. Hit a pothole, car went up, strut fully extended, car came back down, strut fully compressed, and I heard a bang so loud, I could hear it over my stereo at max volume (note that I could barely hear the V6 at 5k RPM when my music was blasting). I had to pull over to see I broke something, thankfully I didn't. Another time, I was with a friend, we hit a bridge, and it caused my strut to bounce up and down very noticeably (that video of the van brings back so many memories). My friend looked at the front right corner of the car, then at me, and said "I don't think I like that very much." I looked over and without missing a beat, said "Nah, it's fine, does it all the time." I think the back two were also pretty close to gone because if my 350 pound friend sat in the back when I had my 300 pounds of papers I delivered every weekend in the back, you could hear the strut fully compressing after every small bump.
Car lasted like two months because even after replacing all four tires, rotors, and brakes, the busted strut and missing sway bar, and all six spark plugs, the remaining gas tank strap (the other one didn't come with the car) broke since the rear quarter of the frame didn't exist and my gas tank was FUBAR. It was my first car and taught me the valuable lesson of looking under a car before buying it and to always clean the underside of a car after a icy winter in PA since PennDOT thinks salt is just the greatest invention ever and sprays literal tons of it per mile when it's snowy/icy out.
I know that after, they make a video asking if 9500 dollars worth of car mods is worth it. I'd like to point out that half that was on these coils alone, atleast if the 1k price I'm seeing for them right now is what they bought them for.

    Fun fact about cavitation:
Under low enough pressure, a ship screw will start to cavitate too, which is loud af. This can be avoided by either turning the ship screws slower or increasing the depth at which they turn. There are also screw designs that are less prone to cavitate at the cost of efficiency.
There is relatively little reason for most vessels to be quieter with their screws, safe for some basic environmental concerns i.e. whales and stuff, but there IS for submarines, which is why, for the highest speeds, they dive DEEPER, as that allows them to turn their screws faster without cavitation.
I just thought that's kinda neat.
