In the 90s English dub, *Chibi-Usa* was called *Rini,* it worked as a name for two reasons, one it sounded like a cutesy version of Serena _(Usagi which foreshadowed the fact that she was originally Princess Serenity)_ and two, Rini is a Japanese name meaning small rabbit which also fits as Usagi means rabbit, so the 90s dub names were a lot cleverer than most people think.
PlasmaMongoose Oh I don't question their cleverness. They were very good with that. Course cleverness is a tool and can be used for good or ill. I'll give them the Rini thing (I never knew in Japanese it meant small rabbit) if that's true (not saying it isn't, just I haven't had the time to research that myself) then i'll give them that it was clever in a good way, sadly they did kind of undermined themselves by having Rini says it's my mother's hairstyle thus pointing out her mother had the same hairstyle pretty much after Serena said that this was her hairstyle, and Darien pretty much sealed it before the "big reveal" by saying those two act so much like it each other it wouldn't surprise me if they were related.
DiC is extremely clever I don't doubt that, but when they use that cleverness to harm the show's story people will bash them for it (deservedly so), If they did use Rini to try and hide her idenity, they shot themselves in the foot by making those two lines which destroyed that overall point.
I looked up Rini and you are right it does mean Small Rabbit. Thats actually really cool of DiC I wish they used that type of thinking more often.
***** A lot of the dub name changes actually made a lot of sense once you understand the meaning of the changed names.
Serena, I guess comes from either Princess Serenity or Serenity lake that the kingdom is supposed to be located either near or on geographically.
Amy comes from Ami, that's just localizing and I have no problem with that.
Mina is a shorten version of Minako
Raye is from Rei, again localization.
Lita *pause* I think they were going with lighting or something I don't know how they got from Makoto to this.
They renamed Chibi Mamoru to Darien Shields. His last name works as a shield does protect you and Mamoru does mean to protect/guard in Japanese, still not sure on the Darien part though.

Darien comes from the Greek name Darius, which means Royal.

Oh no I assure you this is classic Chibiusa behavior. She's aimed a gun at Usagi on more than 1 occasion and specifically in Sailor Moon R, she attacks the team both physically (Guns, sleeping potion, hypnosis/mind control, stealing the Silver Crystal) and emotionally (bullying Usagi relentlessly, telling Ami her friends are horrible friends for not sending her off on her flight, manipulating/flirting with Mamoru and straining his relationship with Usagi). What I love about Chibiusa is she's a hero with villain-like tendencies which I find really interesting and complex. She settles down as we move into S and SuperS but in R she's a pure nightmare!

Well, Sandy Fox does have a naturally high pitched voice, like Hillary Haag (her Texan counterpart).
I wonder if Viz does outtakes of the entire series (all 5 seasons, all 3 movies, and the specials), I wonder if one of them will be Sandy Fox quoting Tracey Hoyt's (the original voice of Chibi-Usa in the DiC dub and the movies) line from the S movie: "HELP! I'm getting cold shivers up my BACK!!!"

Mixing probably isn't final yet. The mixing of the Luna meets Usagi clip was a lot better in the proper episode, so it seems these dub clips get rough mixes sometimes. :O
honestly it's sounds like shit, we can hear she can sound SOMETIMES like original chibiusa, but most of time it's lame... they don't even care acting I guess

Wait until they reveal the clip with Sailor Pluto she's voiced now by Veronica Taylor the original voice actress who voiced Ash from Pokemon.

i'm afraid whoever gave you that info is lying to you like there's nobody's business.
there's absolutely zero chance she'll voice pluto.for one thing miss taylor is a union VA and the studio doing the dubbing is non-union and there are unfortunately rules and contracts that prevent union VA from doing voicwork for non ubion studios unless their using an alias. one example is both seph ,bosch and Toshiro's VA (steve cannon) used alias for tengo tenge back when they were union VA instead of being independent VAs today. definitely confusing i know and these union/non-union rules makes my head and any otaku newbiw blow up in confusion so i dont bother with the details, however union VA not being allowed to do voicework is one i know for sure which is why i can say for a fact that taylor wont be voicing pluto let alone anyone in this series.
Keron Stewart no it's been confirmed by Viz Media themselves that Veronica Taylor is going to be voicing Sailor Pluto in the re dub and the Sailor Moon Crystal Dub when they do it. They announced it when they announced the pre orders started and the official release date for the Sailor Moon R Part 1 Blu Ray / DVD limited edition.

well i checked on anime news sites like animenewsnetwork and others and so far that have been no news at all about who would be voicing pluto. just the prince , chibiusa and others.
for that & the ONLY WAY for that to actually happen, miss taylor would have to become an independent VA like Seph and most of the VAs since as i said there are confusing union/non-union rules that doing the series for some VAs would be impossible. and i really cant see that her actually leaving her union to become independent.

I'll never get used to the english names and im American. I personally don't get why they changed them in the first place. They aren't hard to pronounce. Plus the original names flow better

Watching the full episodes of R dubbed I have to say I look forward to Chibiusa's voice the most, it's just so sweet and fits her character. And Pluto is just amazing I can't wait to hear her in S
I like the Japanese dubbed better because of how it's not annoying but I like the dubbed version of sailor MARS because she sounds badass XD

Yagoshi300 I can't see Tara Strong voicing her. She's famous for voicing good characters even though Joker's henchwomen Harley Quinn is voiced by Tara Strong in the Batman Arkham Games besides Arkham Origins but she's more well-known for voicing heroes then villains.

Yeah, I felt so happy because I already knew that the Japanese version didn't have that dialogue, and that I thought it sounded stupid when I saw the DiC dub.

Her Cloverway actress was really the only great actress from their dub and it fit so well and I'm glad ViZ did the same unlike DiC where they thought because she's a child she should have a whiney annoying voice. It gets tiring when they cast those voices for child characters

To think this was the final scene of the final episode of the show... I did not except that ending, but I applaud the makers for being so honest and blunt, showing that death, even for the "main character" (in other words, ourselves) can come so unexpectadly.

Some people take their dubs too seriously - ignore the haters lol I actually still enjoy DICs dub and I'm still a fan of Vizs version. I just treat them as two different series. :)
