I'm not a sub purist, so I prefer a more localized dub that sounds natural and doesn't bend over backwards trying to copy exactly everything from the "infallible" and "sacrosanct" Japanese script, like the Japanese-style vocal tones. Or the tone-flat exposition from the Queen here like she's really reading from a script.
Yeah it wasn’t natural at all. DiC has more natural lines. Who says “be excorsized” or “in suspended animation” in every day talk?

Amanda Arlt According to manga she died forever. In fact after sealing Metallia she traveled to the center of the universe carrying the star seed of her daughter. She beg to Guardian Chaos another chance of hapiness to Princess Serenity because it supossed she will live forever as the most powerful silver crystal but in that end she suicided. In that future she wanted her daughter live a little time in peace and in love with her guardians and lover but now as friends and humans... Mother queen Serenity never got seen again...

Ricky Chan one of them was definitely Neptune, I noticed when I was little too. I'm pretty sure it was an accident on the part of the animators like seeing a Mina look alike in the clock episode, I think but their neat things to notice and incorporate into headcannon

I respect that this is closer to the japanese dub but the dic dub for this scene always hits my heart harder than this version. I feel that dic not only explained what they needed to do in the future but it also showed a mother mourning her daughters loss. In this version she just told them what to do with the crystal and the moon stick.
It feels more 'dramatic but pretty' than actually emotional. Much like the OST version of The Last Unicorn's "Now That I'm a Woman" being pretty but bland vs the original movie's vocal recording, which was imperfect but heartrending (as was befitting the character's distraught state of mind at that point).
Also doesn't help that the voice actors were really really monotone.
And her voice was a bit deeper and more powerful in the dic version. I much prefer that one
They didn't know what they had to do in the future. The implication is that she was hoping they wouldn't need to be re-awakened and could have peaceful lives. Note this line: "*If* Metalia reappears, give Serenity the Silver Crystal." Meaning it was probably a drastic measure solution that they didn't think likely to deal with.
She gave her life for the preservation of her people, so that they might live happier lives in the future.
She will be missed.
"That's enough! Please don't talk anymore!" That's what I wanted to say. I really like Queen Serenity and I was so sad when she died. I just started watching Sailor Moon this year, but I love it.
I was in on the first few episodes, but I skipped some by mistake and saw this. I don't know much, but still.

K Almeer yeah how symbolic, queen serenity is dead... which means calm and peaceful... it’s a subliminal message saying earth has fallen from a state of paradise/heaven/balance/harmony into a state of chaos/confusion/emotional trauma... and if you look at the symbols of the moon and the architecture of the moon kingdom being used, the author/animator is alluding to the ISLAMIC STATE as sailor moons kingdom... and many people don’t know that Islamic religion has many forms,names, cultures, countries that it hides behind... like Christianity and Judaism are sects of islam, they just don’t know it! Even the queen of England/UK and the USA is controlled by Islam, people just have no clue!

As a fanfiction write, one of my absolute favourite plot-pots has always been those many moon-beam crystals. Oh, the true joys of creation and playing around with the idea of what all those crystals could contain! xD

This scene insinuates someone evil has used the silver crystal before. Queen Serenity is truly the most mysterious character in the series as we can only assume she might have been a Sailor Guardian herself once.
I never understood why she was never able to reincarnate with the others.
She might have meant Nehelenia, who could have sought after the Silver Crystal as well as the Golden Crystal.
Adding onto my last comment, I think the implication was that she permanently gave up her line to save everyone else (as in sacrificed her own ability to be reincarnated.) I doubt she was a Sailor Senshi however, since Sailor Moon was never shown to exist pre-reincarnation.

the manga sort of implies/reveals in Stars that Queen Serenity didn't simply want to reincarnate and during the reincarnation process (so sending everyone to present day Earth) and then threw herself into the cauldron and died and went back into the natural life cycle of souls. (compared to Usagi saying she'd like to return herself and her friends to their normal bodies aka present day selfes at the end of the series). Serenity probably had some major guilt of everything that conspired and wanted the senshi to have a future without her, she'll most likely reincarnate someday, as that is the cycle of death an rebirth in this series, just probably never by her daughter or her descendants side

If you watched the original series in Japanese, these flashback scenes had Vivaldi's Storm and other classical music pieces as BGM which completely breaks the immersion if you've ever heard them before. It's so out of place and feels like a cheaply made hobby OAV. Meanwhile the DiC dub had a beautiful remix of Moonlight Densetsu. As someone that hates most dubs, DiC did right by the soundtrack and VAs on Sailor Moon. The Viz version is "ok."
Okay, I did not expect them to show this scene. For anyone who doesn't recognize Queen Serenity, she's Wendee Lee, Haruhi Suzumiya.

MoonaticDestiny Yes for a dub in the 90's, the music wouldn't fit and even so, it's not the original music of the 90's Sailor Moon just DiC Americanizing it, and they were a Canada dub. And saying they had more emotion and heart, you are no better than everyone treating Japanese dubs better because they 'more emotion and heart'.
As flawed as the DiC and Cloverway dubs were, it had some good music. I'll give them that.

Bruh the last 3 episodes of the first season season (44, 45, and 46) made me cry like a baby.. I remember crying like a baby when I saw 45..
I wonder if people would complain about this new dub if the price was lower? I can see it now " Wow! this is the best dub ever, Thanks Viz Media!" But i wouldn't worry, The USA have a system called Supply and Demand, if not enough people buy the product, soon the price will go down, let's be real people, that's what y'all all are counting on! isn't it!?

Okay, I'm signing my death certificate here...but I liked the DiC dub's voice for Queen Serenity more. It was deeper than this and had a more "Regal" quality to it.

Viz is an excellent dub. And Sailor Moon isn't for children. The first season is safe for kids to watch. From Romance to Sailor Stars, it's for teens. Viz Media did allow Toonami to air Sailor Moon, only like two episodes. Then there was this anime channel on the PS4 that aired Sailor Moon, it is now defunct. Toonami only airs Dragonball and Naruto and other popular anime. I haven't seen Toonami air Sailor Moon yet since 2014. Toonami is on Adult Swim every Saturday at 9:00pm.
This show was NOT aimed at children; Naoko Takeuchi said in her notes that she wanted to make Usagi look "sexier" to get the male viewer's attention (or something to that effect) and it has a Mature rating of 17+ I believe upon initial Japanese airing.

Susan Roman (Sailor Jupiter), Teri Hawkes (Sailor Moon), and Katie Griffin (Sailor Mars) were PHENOMENAL voice actresses and were a main reason I fell in love with the show via the DiC dub! The DiC music was superior to this music as well. If only there was a way to combine the DiC charm and actresses with the original plot and uncut story of this! I don't know what to root for. Too many sacrifices need to be made in my heart to jump on the bandwagon of this new dub! I will just own BOTH as I do now and will attempt to enjoy them separately for what they are.
That part made me cry.

And to think...it only took Sailor Moon Crystals 9 episodes to get to the Moon Kingdom Origin part where as the original Sailor Moon took 44 episodes. Just like Dragonball Z Kai only took 100 episodes to get to Buu saga where as the original DBZ took twice as long. That's filler for you.

The manga was still being made when the anime was airing. That's mostly why many series get filler cause if they just stuck to the manga before the manga is done then they can't get the true ending and have to make up their own. That's why FMA basically did a 360 halfway through, why Ouran's ending doesn't match the manga and why Fruits Basket didn't add in the other two cursed Sohma that showed up, the student council members Yuki interacted with and reveal Akito's biggest secret.

KingNazaru Would you rather have Naruto and One Piece end with an ending not like the manga, that stays true to that ending? And ok some filler stuff may not be too good but hey many eps that follow the manga aren't that good either. Every series has some bad episodes like every movie series has one or more really bad movie (I don't think I even need to name examples with that) but it doesn't mean the series itself is bad as it still has fans and frankly everyone has their own opinion on it. Some like the so-called bad episodes while others don't like the Star Wars trilogy has some fans that like the original while the other half of fans find them to be crap. Same goes for everything else. I find Napoleon Dynamite to be a stupid movie while many others like it. Do I care? No, cause that's their choice and they're allowed to make it.

Well, it somewhat did: Endymion and Serenity were able to fall in love in their modern day, re-establish the fallen Silver Millennium, and meet all of the Sailor Senshi designated to protect her. Plus, their memories are all fully awakened. I call this at least a half win.

Queen Serenity dies here, and when she wakes up she'll be thawed out in a lab and told she has to pay over million woolongs. Then, gets scammed by her lawyer friend and then later down the road cause trouble and tags along with a couple of male spaces bounty hunters.
