      Just to keep as many variables out of the mix as possible. After the sketchy original maiden with the wrong elevator zero from Skymaster it was a little in settling. Start simple and every flight for 20-30 flights tweak something to make it fly or work better.
      May not take that many flights but it’s a realistic number.

    Dude... I'm impressed with the Hornet's controllability and so solid when cornering, This sky that shows cumulus formation, it's low clouds, these clouds form near the surface, their base is approximately 6500 feet above the ground. This vertical loop ascent of the Hornet made it hide for a few moments in the cloud, you can get a rough estimate of how high it reached from the data on the height of the cloud base formation above the ground.

    A thing of beauty! And the pilot obviously knows the fundamentals of flying a jet. My country is in the process of selecting the fighter to replace our aging 1:1 scale F-18s. Whatever the choice turns out to be, the new planes will be uglier than the beautiful Hornet.

    You should use the numetal to separate the engines the material blocks the magnetic fields so the rpm sensors don’t respond to the other engine, I have the rpm problems with my Bvm rafale , the rotation of the engines helps but the mumetal makes it much better.

    Amazing F18! Do you have the two throttles on different channels with a mix and a separate switch to turn off 1 of the turbines or do you have them on a Y connector?
    Great Videos!!

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks 😊. Throttles are on separate channels but both use a common trim. A y connector would also work but using a separate channel allows some redundancy if one of the cables going to an ECU was to fail.

    Sweet, looks like reasonable landing speed with the slats. Were any of the takeoffs with Half flaps? And any Slat. Interested to get some insight into my SU35S setup. Did you do a thrust test on the 19s? Interested to understand what the percentage reduction in thrust is at your altitude. You had the 14s from memory documented. My Sukhoi is running 14s.

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Brian. All the take offs were with mid flaps. Flight 2 and 3 had slats added in. didn't do any thrust tests on the 190's. Generally we see about a 15-20% reduction depending on all the variables (Temp, Altitude, etc)

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello James. It changes on a regular basis but in years past it was more repairing less building. Now it’s more building less repairing.
      No official classes per se that I know of but basically find somebody who’s willing to invest time and energy and is willing to teach. Some people pick it up quite quickly and some people it takes years. You can be a very proficient pilot of other aircraft but when it comes to something with a Turbine, landing gear, flaps and so many variables it can be overwhelming
