    It's didn't take off like an A10 is supposed to take off! COMMENT BELOW WHY?😉

      How are they meant to take off?

    • @sawtooth4615
      @sawtooth4615 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe a little more air speed to let it fly off without so much elevator input. But the C.G. issue seemed to be still a factor.

      @michiganengineer8621 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm going to guess that the wing angle of attack was a bit low (nose down).

      No take off flaps, tail heavy and lots of elevator throw. 🤔

    • @waynesmodels2064

      Great work Jonathan. I agree with many of the comments here as to why. Probably not any one single factor but several contributors. Tail heavy, excessive throws, possbily thrust angles, and probably the biggest one is the often overlooked nosewheel too short (causing reduced or negative wing incidence and need for big elevator forces to unstick- I think the A-4 had variable length nosewheel for to help with this issue) and also possible the drag from the grass on the main wheels causing a nose down moment which again forces the need for a big elevator force to unstick). How did the second landing go?

    Hey Sir. I remember when this aircraft was taken out of the box and I was so amazed at it. What a very nice aircraft it turned out to be. I can remember I asked back in January or so when can you fly it. Now it's taken flight. Thanks for the great video.

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks James! Always a fun time when the maiden is complete. I find with something like this you do your best to get everything sorted out prior but usually after the maiden it requires bit of tweeking here and there to get it 100%.All part of the 10-15 setup flights to get the aircraft dialed.

    You need to up your flight filming game, so you never miss a crash again! What a bummer. At least we all know it wasn't shoddy construction that caused your crash.
    The next plane you build will be even better. 🙏🏻

    I had a little or a lot of pucker when I saw that take off seeing it was tail heavy. Yikes! I normally keep a flap and elevator adjustment on the flaps and elevator in the event that happens during a flight but with it being tail heavy that wouldn't have helped! Great flying saved the day and great landing under the circumstances! Good luck on the next flights!

    I posted the question about thrust/weight ratio on another video, but watching more of your videos, I am coming to understand that all of these aircraft are to a certain point ARF (it seems, perhaps not). Would one achieve a more accurate ratio while using a jet engine by scratch building the plane?

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your scratch building from wood it may end up lighter but less strong. If your scratch building with composite it would probably end up heavier.

    • @kimpanattoni
      @kimpanattoni 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thelightersideofrc: I was not sure if prefabricated was heavier or lighter... though I still am curious about the comment I left on your other video regarding T/W and replicating flight characteristics. If you would like, I can find that video and post the comment here so you can help me understand better.

    You are a meticulous builder, so I am sure that the original CG was spot on to the plans. If you ultimately settle on a different CG, will you tell Skymaster? That would seem to be an important issue.

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Alan. Yea what I will do now is go back and confirm my measurements were in fact correct compared to the suggested and go from there. With the F18 Previously, skymaster was notified and the manual was changed as a result.

    Even if I had the extra cash for a plane like that Id never get up the nerve to fly it. Just flying my couple hundred dollar foam edfs is stressful to me. Lol. Awesome A10 though my Eflite twin 64mm a10 will have to do.

    Hi Jonathan,
    Think I lost a heartbeat the way it pitched up on the first takeoff. Definitely tail heavy, but it shouldn't behave that way as you set the CG to specs. Guess the specs are off some. Looking forward to the next flight video when you have it dialed in more. You and the family stay safe.

    I think you screwed up your comment at the end of the video where you said "still slightly nose heavy with added weight", I assume you meant tail heavy as it still seemed to jump up on take-off.

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

  • @IansRCExploits
    @IansRCExploits 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did it take off like that due to it being a bit pitchy ( tail heavy ) ?

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      exactly! and it was even more pronounced with the flaps on. That's why I landed no flaps.
