Thankyou so much Sarah, I did leave a long comment the other day but it seems to have disappeared? It may be in your youtube study comments under being held for approval as I used the word b ugg er so it might have been flagged as inappropriate lol, but it wasn't lol, what a fantastic vid to have dedicated to me, honestly had tears in my eyes at your lovely gesture, getting told your cancer free is like having a huge morbid black cloud lifted from you, you'll never truly know how much your videos have helped me getting through my darkest days, just coming along with you and seeing the views I long for would totally lift my spirits 😊 so thankyou for everything and mostly for just being you 😊👍
What a real pleasure to read your comment! I can’t see the original but I’ll search for it in Studio. I am in Awe of you Mick. I have known since watching your videos that you’ve been unwell but you didn’t dwell you kept going out into your local lands filming what you wanted and even your Temu reviews at home with your wife made me feel so warm and connected to you as a virtual friend inbetween my arduous shifts. I think when we watch each others videos us campers, it’s a reciprocal relationship and one that keeps on giving, we can pick up when we can and enjoy the vids over and over depending on our mood. I am so thrilled that you’ve found my vids in the Peak District enjoyable and I will always see you in my virtual audience as I chat crap int’ hills in me tent lad 😂 THANK YOU MICK ❤️
I have been so interested in all of your supportive comments today. As always I love reading to them and responding to them meaningfully. It’s the least I can’t do! It takes time so thank you in advance. It might take me time to see them and reply. Best wishes to you all, take care, Sarah ❤
Thank you 🤩 he’s a very supportive and inspiring person to me. We make a great team. Thank you for your kind words. ATB, see you on the next one 😊Sarah
Such a great video Sarah. First time I’ve viewed your content but definitely not my last. You will empower people with your attitude and positivity. Much respect ✊
Glad you enjoyed it Mr Watty ☺️ the weather window was perfect smack bang in the middle of my annual leave from work. I have a few of your camps to catch up on 🙌🏻ATB, Sarah
Glad you enjoyed it. There’s lots that I don’t share on TH-cam or my video pile be extremely long. I am silent a lot of the time, it’s therapeutic 😊ATB, Sarah
Simply enjoy watching the joy you share spending time in nature. Your so right, each of these moments help us get through those days when we are not doing our best. Thank you for sharing these incredible memories, your words of encouragement and the peaceful moments of life. Stay strong and enjoy every moment of life Sarah 🙏🌲☕💚
Always a joy when a SSB notification pops up.Your constant chatter raises so many interesting points. Here are some that I picked up on. I totally get you feeling empowered when wearing your spikes. For me it was the first time I used poles. It felt as though I'd done the Edale skyline in an hour. You say you're a short-arse Sarah. Well, you certainly give credence to the adage that good things come in small packages.I, on the other hand, am over six feet tall and there's not much good to be found in me. So it must be true. Your eloquent tent-time monologue was something else. It could have been written by Alan Bennett as part of his Talking Heads series. In your last few films something quite lovely happens. At some point in the proceedings you sigh a delicate ethereal sigh. And here it is again @ 42.03. Magical. I am a Rolling Stones fan and was generously gifted their latest album. One track, Dreamy Skies, might well be an anthem for us wild campers. If you get the chance give it a whirl. Part two SHEEP to follow. Hopefully. TTFN, Mike.
Ohhhhhh 🥹 I am always astounded by what you and some of my other viewers pick up on in my videos. It’s a huge compliment when I am unrehearsed and raw. It means you are giving a big nod my way to the way I am naturally and how I see the world. That’s much more than I ever expected from ‘the best friends I will never meet’ I really enjoy reading comments like this, thank you so much 😊 best wishes, Sarah
@@SoloSarahBX I hope this posts OK. If not I shall get me to nunnery & become affiliated to theSwonicles. Anyone who spends time in our countryside will encounter sheep. And once in a while one that could use some help.Sometimes we can help, other times not and we are frustrated. I once helped a chap free a young ram with his head stuck fast in a wire fence. Another time I came across a sheep on its back, legs in the air. It made no attempt to move as I approached so I assumed it was injured: a broken back or some such. When I reached the farmhouse no one was home so I left a note. I later found out that when this happens to sheep they are unable to right themselves due to the weight of their fleece. Apparently it is possible right them but I would imagine this would be a two person job. My first ever wild camp was at Scoat Tarn on Red Pike,Wasdale. There is flat ground by the outflow but three tents were already there when I arrived. I went a couple of hundred feet above the tarn in search of a pitch and I found a cracker.Big enough for my Terra Nova Solar 2 and as flat as a putting green. With my packet meal and mugs of tea I spent an amazing evening watching the beams of the lighthouses on the distant Isle of Man.I couldn't wait to see THAT view in the morning. Early morning, and excited by the prospect of the stunning view, I unzipped the tent door and there, standing shoulder to shoulder with their faces almost inside my tent, were three sheep. My burst of laughter scattered them and I realised that I had probably pitched on their night couch. If sheep could talk I'm sure the air would've been blue. And rightly so, it is their home.
Beautiful video Sarah in a wonderful place also close to my home 😊. We are so lucky. I’m with you, along with many other tubers, when you talk about the mental recharge. Keep the vids coming & stay safe 👍 Dave
Gorgeous comment thank you Dave ✨ I love taking everything that I need from the place and leaving it just as I found it. It’s my most healthy addiction 😊ATB, Sarah
Great spot there Sarah 👌🏻 wish I could get out midweek sometimes , I’ve watched all the gorgeous sunrises 🌅 this week driving into work, the weekend arrives & in rolls the clouds & wind/rain 😢🙄 typical init!..fingers crossed we’ll get a clear weekend soon😂🙏 I’m itching after watching your camp ⛺️ ⛺️ thanks for sharing, stay safe
Ey up 😊I’ve been there last week! Most amazing h sunrises driving home from night shifts at 8am, when all the energy I’ve got left goes into getting into bed for at least 6 hrs…I do feel lucky as a shift worker and often avoid the weekends. I am A solitary creature lol 😊 I hope that the weather comes good for you because good things come to good people… enjoy and don’t work too hard ATB, Sarah
Looked beautiful with the snow and amazing sunshine. Breaks my heart too seeing lame sheep. They are so hardly living up there in the mountains. So pleased after all your 'work' you have been lucky again with the weather. Its been beautuful here in Mid Wales and managed to take healed foot on a couple of bike rides and dog walks. That feels better!
Yay! Heather hear of the healing foot, I think one of my subscribers may have gotten me mixed up with you and asked how my ankle faired in the cold 🥶 I hope he sees this comment and asks you instead 😍 I saw the weather window and jumped for the chance, oh it was well needed and enjoyed as you could see. It wasn’t easy seeing the lame ewe I know they are tough cookies but I still wanted to make her better. I’m a fixer ❤️ATB, Sarah
I’m really pleased that I make you smile. Smiles are infectious and can really lift someone’s spirits. Smiling is my favourite…said buddy the elf ☺️ see you on the next one, somewhere around t’ Sheffield Boarder ✨ATB, Sarah
Stunning video, epic views, a tip on the water, turn your bottles upside down, water will freeze from the top down ,so you should be able to get water out your bottles ,as I notice you keep them in your boots, another is to fill a nalgene with hot water before bed ,use as hot water bottle, then in morning, you'll have a litre of water ready for drinks /porridge etc, I've never had a leak, but you can wrap it in a dry bag (just on the safe side ), hope it helps, good health and safe travels, cheers craig
Great advice Craig, thank you 🙏🏻 I was surprised that my water froze but then again I didn’t protect it well enough! I’ll be sure to update you on frozen water situation when we get another cold spot here in the Peak District 🥶ATB, Sarah
WOW !!! what a wonderful video. First time that I've come across your channel and girl I'm so glad that I did.. Such a soothing look at the not so easy task of cold camping.. You made every topic that you addressed hit the point of focus.. Well done you.. I will definitely be binge watching your channel .
That’s awesome 🤩 really glad that you enjoyed this video. It wasn’t easy to film in the cold, both that and the cold are challenges that help me learn about my limits, kinda induces my thoughts and what ever comes out like to capture for my content, great memories to look back on. I hope to see you on my next adventure, ATB, Sarah
Hey 👋🏻 thanks for watching. I shared more that night than I could fit into a video! There’s always chats next time because there’s always a next time! ATB, Sarah
Hey Sarah, just watched your video- absolutely loved it! I'm a huge fan, and whenever I'm having a rough day, I turn to one of your previous episodes. It never fails to bring joy to my day, and I can't help but smile at the screen. I was actually planning to go camping this Wednesday, right to that same spot, but unfortunately, circumstances kept me stuck in bustling London. I hope you had an amazing time, and thank you for sharing your memories from those darker times in your life. Many of us go through similar moments, and just when it seems like there's no way out, someone shows us a different way to brew our metaphorical cup of tea. For me, a turning point was an expedition to Kinder Scout. I set off ill-prepared, thinking I wouldn't make it back. But the sunrise, the fresh air, the taste of spring water - it saved my life. As you mentioned in a previous video, "I'm always in the right place at the right time." I found myself in the right place. Remember, you're already an inspiration to many. Keeping my fingers crossed, and I hope our paths cross on the trail one day. Take care, M.
What an amazing true story thank you for sharing that I am so grateful as I am for your support. I hope that you make it out soon. London can be draining , the Peak District your recharging station ❤️ my very best wishes to you, Sarah When I was feeling rubbish before I found camping out myself I’d often tune into Patrick Dickinson, Andy Beavers, Paul Messner, Twiggy Escapes, Dave Goodman, Hengist Wild Camps, Mark Taylor Outdoors, Mick Outdoors oh the list is endless! They always give my mood a lift and inspired me to get outside ✨
We very much enjoyed watching this one Sarah! We echo alot of what others have already said. We hope to return to the Peak District soon with our daughter 12 and our son 10, they love walking up Mam Tor. Each time we come we take them somewhere we had been before we had them. I would love to have a go at wild camping 🏕 not with the children though 😂 maybe thats something my husband and I can look forward to in the future. Looking forward to your next adventure and in the meantime we will catch up on your previous uploads. Really enjoyed your festive wild camp too. Thankyou Sarah. X
Well done you. That was a reyt riveting watch. I was so jealous of you being out there having seen your socials posts the other day, you really dropped lucky with the conditions, which I have to say were pretty much perfect. We are so blessed to have that right on our doorsteps. Another place to add to the list of "need to camp there". Glad the Big Agnes is working for you, they really are good pads to sleep on, so comfy, and I have that same pillow as well. I just can't bring myself to drop a grand on a tent though. I'm dossing in a church hall tonight with the woodland camping crew. We should be camping this weekend but the wood is still in a state after all the storms and its still too cold for the older gentry to handle so we have the use of a church hall. I've got a curry and some beers to neck, kip on the carp fishing bed, then back home in the morning after a trip to the Rab shop for a mooch round. Can't say I won't come back with summat new! Gigging tomorrow night at a charity function, we are one of 5 bands helping raise money for someone's cancer treatment. Stay on it rattlecan, you're on a roll!! ATB
Rattlecan 😂that’s my favourite nickname, I’m proud 😂 if I ever meet you Andy ya know in ‘real life’ I won’t let you down on the talky front 😆. I’ve wanted to camp there for a while but knew it was popular so it put me off. I’ve turned up on Derwent edge before and struggled to get pitched due to lots of campers being out. It was un nerving not camping where Id had in mind. I hope the woodland is safe to camp soon, least you continue to make the most of the back up, nothing quite beats being out with ya mates with fire and beers though does it? Ps don’t need to drop a grand in a tent, yours is perfect, I’d rather have Hillary than a nice car 🚙 😂 ATB Andy, thanks for teaching and have. Great night, Sarah
Hi Sarah, another great wild camp and certainly looked a cold one, but with your Soulo and the all the correct gear you know you will be safe, secure and warm. I have rece the area a few times and even found a couple of ledges to bivvy on, but planning a summer bivvy it was so busy with people and it put me off. But such a awesome location with the view down to the road, would be worth it for the great drone footage you would get, so maybe one day, untill the next one.....thanks Pat
Hi Pat 😊 always enjoy seeing your comment pop up and very much like yourself I enjoy replying to them all, taking the time to thank people and listen to their stories brings me a lot of joy. I hope that you get out up there, it was maybe a little too close to civilisation for me but the breathtaking familiar views made this camp special. Go in winter 🥶 I was all alone up there! There were two people out on top until about 6pm but they disappeared. I would love a drone one day. Your footage of kinder scout it etched in my mind, I must have seen it 10 times, I’m glad I can play it on repeat! See ya on the next one, ATB, Sarah
I camped in Cavedale near Winnats in the late 60s. Boxing Day night with 4inch of snow on the ground. Me and a mate in an ex army bivvy tent with a sheet of polythene for a groundsheet, and a sheet of polythene flysheet.
@@SoloSarahBX yes I remember it was a really heavy brown canvas, 3 foot high with 2 solid wood poles. Only problem was when we went down to Castleton that evening most of the pubs would not let us in with hiking boots. We found one that allowed us in one room ith open fire. We spent a great night with other campers who'd come over from Edale. We used the open fire to dry our socks, and one guy brought a guitar so we had a sing song too.
I've sent a comment twice and both have vanished. It was quite a long one so I'll try it in short bursts. I don't know in which order they will post. A right bummer! Always a joy when a SSB notification pops up.Your constant chatter raises so many interesting points. Here are some I picked up on. I totally get you feeling empowered when wearing your spikes. For me it was the first time I used poles.I felt as though I'd done the Edale skyline in an hour.
@@SoloSarahBX One short one has posted but another has gone.I'll try again maybe tomorrow. I do enjoy commenting on your channel and reading what others have said. TTFN.
Hiya. Excellent Vid as always. Seeing your tent and all your accessories reminds me of Hermione from Harry Potter and her magic bag of everything, Whatya gonna pull out next lol. That looked a FRESH night.
😂😂😂😂 that’s funny, I can pack a lot in that backpack and still lift it onto my back…I don’t think it’s as heavy as it looks. I’ll weigh it next time, lots of people comment on the size of it and it’s just a 50 litre women’s backpack. Might calm her Mary Poppins ✨
I recently started watching your videos following you getting a mention by Pat. Really enjoying them. This one might be your best. Well done and keep them coming. 👏👏
I’m glad you came over for a look 😊I am highly inspired by Mr P. Dickinson. I havnt seen him camp here yet, I hope he does before summer comes though because i bet it gets rather busy! ATB, Sarah
That’s fantastic and so is Patrick for telling his subs about my channel in his last video. I was laughing my head off when I watched him. He’s a ledgend, love his content, great man. ATB, Sarah
Hiya Chris 👋🏻 thanks for stopping by, it was a really relaxing camp too. Keeping warm, taking in the views, watching the flame flicker of my stove with a hit brew and dates treat ✨ prefect. ATB, Sarah
Without ever hitting rock bottom i don't think you can ever really appreciate or more importantly feel life in all its vivid glory. Even the smallest things that historically would have been missed or not register i think your senses get awakened more. Love the rational for your channel and recording your trips to look back on for yourself when times aren't great - honestly such a refresing change than alot of content creators! Great tent, i've had my Soulo over the years from the Lakes to the Arctic circle in all weathers, gone crazy prices now but having a few of their tents they last and well never had one let me down so i think they are an investment. Wish you many a happy night under the star's - some stunning views and photography not to mention the sheeps :-) ! PS Dates are brilliant, not many people use them, no idea why they are solid fuel and don't go off, as for cold spots this time of year id really recommend a liner, sea to summit extreme works well for me plus keeps your bag fresher long term.
Your comment really did make me smile and my eyes leak this morning upon waking from a restful nights sleep! Thank you so much…”feel like in all its vivid glory” really special and inspired a name for my next video thank you! I hated hitting rock bottom but I am so grateful for the lessons Ive learned, the friends I’ve made and experiences I’ve had rebuilding myself. Once you’ve owned a Soulo it completes you. I worked hard to even contemplate owning Hillary. Then when I didn’t think it could get any better she was gifted to me by by husband for my 40th birthday. He knew then what I’d achieve on our excursions ✨⛺️✨ATB, Sarah
@@SoloSarahBX Ahh no worries thanks not needed your note about not being able to make a cup of tea strung a bell. Yea its a very dark and horrible time for sure, wouldn't wish it on anyone that crevasse, but if you can climb out and survive it from it comes a phoenix for sure, an awakening and a stronger determined and fulfilled life. That is ace re tent for birthday present after saving up, i bet he and your daughter if she's old enough love watching your nights out on the hill :-) ! Safe travel's and hope you keep injury free on the hills this time of year - on that point those steel tent pegs are super heavy but also be very careful. One of my climbing partners had a really nasty fall off a ridge couple of years back with some nasty bounces before arresting his fall, messed up pretty bad with leg fracture's but defo not helped by being impaled by one of his tent pegs in the same pocket deep into his back and core (they where also on an angle poking through side pocket 11:34 in vlog and same steel ones as that - i know as have the same also as great for banging through rock gaps). Freak accident for sure, but well accidents happen and he got told a few more mm in he wouln't have made it! You turn them the other way you risk when bouncing off rock/uneven ground your head snapping into them as packs dont stay where they are in bad falls. On those long steel nail spike pegs whilst its a total ball ache i'd recommend putting them side on parallel to your back in the base of your bag and something infront of them just for the worst. Sounds rediculous i know and if it hadn't happened to my climbing partner id be never had given it a second thought as used to do the same. On the boring subject of pegs lol, with the hilleberg, when its not frozen ground and for most of the time in UK on moorland check out the "Delta Pegs" (yellow with bend in), they are so simple but really really effective, the higher the wind force the more they dig into ground due to the fulcrum point, better than double pegging even and don't slip out in wet ground. Anyway yea safe travel's and clear starry skies :-)
@@_Mountain_Dave very interesting share! So sorry to hear about your mate bloody hell poo bloke. I will certainly heed your advice thank you! That walk was particularly treacherous and I had to be careful. It would have been even easy to stumble and fall down the edge with a freak accident pegs and a big backpack. That risk is certainly real so thank you. I will pack them safely next time. I’ve seen the delta pegs. Until now I’ve managed well with the DAC pegs but my collection continues to grow as my experience and knowledge does. I hope your friend made a full recovery ❤️🩹
@@SoloSarahBX Yea he's all good, ropes up alot more now also in winter so yea things happen for a reason. But yea it's one of those things i'd never gave a second thought too, axes yea but not pegs. The standard pegs are great, along with the poles, its more of a thing in really wet conditions on moorland and in higher winds. Well worth the few quid as stops having to keep getting out that nice warm bag during the night when grim to stop peg's working loose as they literally don't budge. Have thumbed and sub'd - good luck on your next adventure! OH and ps one of my mates really rates that collapsable bottle for vitals too if any of your female viewers reading this, way better than the shewee she reckons also - defo better than using a nalgene bottle and then getting the wrong one during the night waking up thristy and 75% asleep and taking a swig from the wrong bottle which is something you only ever do once i promise🤮🤣🤣!
Oh my gosh! I keep forgetting to mention how excited I am about the fact mine flies in the dark 😂😂😂 thank you for reminding me, it was the best birthday present ever, I’m glad that you bought one and hope you find that it makesbb no thing more comfortable for you where ever you use it 😊BW, Sarah
Thanks Kris 🙌🏻 yes my first time up there, always wanted to visit, definitely picked a great day and night for it and a successful camp too, ATB, Sarah
@@SoloSarahBX Yeah looked great. Last time I went there to camp I ended up just below mam tor summit and had an epic sunrise and temperature inversion. Need to get back out to the peaks. Let me know if you ever fancy a camp
Good to hear, you don’t realise how much of an accent you have until people comment on it ha ha. Proud Sheffielder me. Went running in my String and Northern Henderson’s relish hat last night. Love it 🙌🏻✨
A great video Sarah with some deep personal thoughts and experiences that you are sharing with the wider world. Top marks for that, you are an inspiration to other people on so many different levels,I'm sure you're making a difference to people who are suffering from mental health issues as I write these notes. A big well done.👏 You deserve all the subscribers you can get. Michael.❤
Hi Michael when I read your comment this morning I had tears in my eyes. It’s beautiful to read comments that people write once they have watched my video. It brings ha me great peace and inspiration to film the next one ✨⛺️✨best wishes, Sarah
@@SoloSarahBX Thanks for replying Sarah.Keep doing what you're doing ,you're making a big difference and have formed your own unique niche in the world of You Tube camping videos. 👏🥰
How could you ever hate yourself? I don't understand. You're one of the most lovely people in the world. I don't think there's another YT channel that I look forward to more than yours. Literally. What brought you to that point? (Don't answer that if it's too personal!). I've been down again in recent weeks. Had another bout of my illness and a barrage of horrible medical tests. I feel like a pin cushion sometimes. I'll spare you the more graphic details. It just knocks me on my arse and I struggle to get back up again. I have to do it in small steps, like with this easy walk I've planned, out to Stanage Pole for a selfy with an old black and white photograph of my grandparents with my mother and uncles when they were kids taken at the same spot. I'm going to get my daughter to take one with my photo. Maybe start a trippy family tradition. I latch on to certain people as inspiration for the various projects I've got going on in my life. I'm studying at the moment, and my inspiration for that project is a physicist called David Deutsch. I'm lifting weights, and my inspiration for that project is a ripped guy called Joe Delaney. I'm into meditation, with my inspiration for that project being a Buddhist monk called Venerable Nick Keomahavong. And I'm into wild camping. Guess who I've latched onto for that one. I think of you and I reach for boots. "If she can, I can". 😉
What an awesome comment thank you and I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t been well. I did a lovely walk with my dad up to the pole then over the bog to Stanage edge and back to Ringinglow last week. Lovely walking, teaching him how to use walking poles. Sounds like a great idea recreating the picture, I’ve done this many times. I think when a person hits rock bottom they don’t like themselves very much, feel worthless, powerless and unable to FEEL. I hated myself for sinking so low when I had so much to live for but I was mentally unwell with a huge imbalance of chemicals. Once I got support and talked about it my recovery began. I put myself at the centre of everything which wasn’t easy as a mother but I still do it now hence my TH-cam channel was born. A celebration of what I love which is one of the biggest decisions I’ve made putting myself out there with all of My vulnerability. Thank you for your continued support and I feel very humbled to have inspired you on your journey 😊ATB, Sarah
Hey 👋🏻 thanks for the sub, that means I’ll be catching you on the next one! Thanks for watching, sure was a cold one but with all that layering I was pretty snug apart from an escaping shoulder in the zipper less sleeping bag. ATB, Sarah
Excellent 👌🏻 I’m glad you got out!down layers are a true game changer to keep us comfortable. I don’t think I could do it without them now. Especially in the sun zero conditions either win chill factor. I’d perish. ATB, Stay safe and carry on camping ⛺️ ✨⛺️🙏🏻
Just come across your channel. Thankyou for sharing your lovely trip...and your mental struggles... to be so mentally unwell not to be able to do basic day to day tasks hits home! I took early retirement and found my escapism in miniaturing..The things we do 'just for ourselves' are the most precious times. ❤
What an amazing hobbie and likewise for sharing that too. I felt like I was watching a miniature village from my location down into Castleton in the bottom. Really special, simple entertainment is the best, previous times ✨ATB, Sarah
I went up to the Pass today on the back of watching your video yesterday just so I could drive on that road! I love your optimism in what you do. I’m on the cusp of doing a wild camp but I’m far off from you guys that do it. Too much anxiety to give it that push.
Hey 👋🏻 that’s brilliant! It’s not great weather out there either. It’s a wonderful place regardless of the weather though. I think once you gather enough kit to go on a camp just go for it. There’s nothing stopping us apart from our thoughts when we get to a certain point. It’s not easy to overcome that anxiety. I’ve been there. The best advice I was given was “don’t leave it too long until the next one” I havnt looked back. I went to a familiar location away from the popular spots in summer after a camp on a campsite with all my dogs. I eased my anxiety gently and then really started to enjoy it, hence the making of my channel to share with others. Keep planning and visiting places and I’m sure you will bite the bullet at some point to just go 👍🏻ATB, Sarah
That great! I get excited when my subscribers release new content and I have something to watch and learn from. What a great community this is. Thank you for watching ATB, Sarah
Thank you Barry 😊 the views from up there are truly beautiful. I’m really glad that I made the most of my day on the lovely recce followed by a much needed camp. Even though it was very cold, it was a great success, thanks for watching ATB, Sarah
tuesday night up stanage Edge was windy and very very COLD! but i car camped ha! and had 2 sleeping bags on me ha but was fun :) the view was somerthing to see ,glad you had a blast :) always good to get away and just get away for a night to recharge an listen to absolute bliss n be in solitude :)
Just being out is the best wether that be car camper or canvas, glad you got out. I bet it was cosy, makes you appreciate the shelters from the elements in harsher conditions dictions, solitude is always my aim ✨ATB, Sarah
Another great video. A pleasure to watch. I admire your openness about lifes struggles. How can anyone cycle up on the top of Winnats Pass in the dark. I would not have the nerve. All the best and looking forward to the next video. Keep Up the Good work!
It was certainly a surprise. Fair play to the man, I was in awe! I’ve had cyclist go past on the edge path on White edge before, I heard them comment about…. I didn’t think you could camp here 🤭 as they sped past, my fault, the Souo is like an orange beacon on a summit with the Flextail lamp on full 😅 thank you for watching and listening to my musings about when life hasn’t been so easy. ATB, Sarah
Lovely spot I found having camped there myself. Pegs hard to get in. 😁 & I was up around 5.45 am having a brew with photographers great video as always 👍🏻
Ha ha! Yes I was surprised not to be joined by anyone else. That path in was rather sketchy with a good blanket of snow though. Maybe put people off. Glad I had the spikes! The groundhog legs were essential. So glad I grabbed some on the way back from my recce, ATB, Sarah
Ohhh it was a bitey one! Made the ends of my fingers feel numb when out of the tent for just a few minutes. Very difficult to film in the cold. I was pleased with what I managed in that cold 🥶 ATB, Sarah
Ey up Kieron ☺️ thanks for watching, same happened to me the night Patrick Dickinson published his latest vid. Thanks for listening to my harping on about all sorts 😂 hole you get chance to get on the Pass soon. Stunningly beautiful, ATB, Sarah
I’m glad you stopped by to watch. I am incredibly lucky, love making the most of it when I can. I couldn’t believe how snowy Mam Tor and the Pass were as I saw it in the distance from the moorland above my home town. Beautiful. Was a little nervous as I approached it so I’m glad I had the spikes on my boots. ATB, Sarah
Do you think!? The scenery made it, it was stunning, might have used that word loads in this last one but I had no words lol. BE, See you on the next one, Sarah
Only recently subscribed to your channel and am so glad I did. This is a lovely, calming and honest video which I have enjoyed very much. I had my own struggles some 40yrs ago, not so bad as yours sounded, but bad enough. I'm also recording my trips so I can watch them again when I need to. Thankyou for sharing. ATB, Roger
Isn’t it a great platform for that? Like a big virtual photo album to share with my grandchildren 😊 I’m glad you enjoy the videos and thank you for sharing re your struggles. No matter how hard it is for each of us, it is relative and it is valid, it happened. I talk about it to ensure others don’t feel alone. It’s not always been that way has it? I’ll be seeing you on the next one. ATB, Sarah
I love camping up there Sarah, you were so lucky to have no wind. Hark at you, with all those new toys! It was great to see a bit more of your kit and set up, thank you. Stay safe chuck!
Like Christmas morning g every time I put my tent up isn’t it? 😂 I am grateful and excited for it all, just like finding the perfect LEGO piece to finish my creation or the corner of a jigsaw 🧩 the weather was perfect, it was a bitey one though, extremely hard to stay warm all of the time but I had my trusty speedster stove to warm the tops of my fingers and cook hot food and drinks. Magic but of kit those spirit burners. Thank you! Stay safe and ATB, Sarah
The ambulance was stuck in the procession of cars waiting to get up Winnats Pass. They sounded the siren 🚨 to clear the sheep, it worked. I had to edit a lot of the footage out due to the beeping car noise 😮💨 I’m sure she got bk down to the flock in the end poor thing. I had to try and forget about her, my love for animals is strong! I dragged a sheep out of Derwent reservoir after a wild swim, she was petrified as she’d become stuck in a bush in the water so was heavy and tired. I got her out and she ran, I was really pleased that day ☺️
Thank you Sarah for another great video . Your frank talking and openness regarding your own mental health battles rang a chord with me . Keep on making these vids you are a true inspiration 👍
Hey 👋🏻 I think it’s really important to talk openly if we feel able to. I’ve certainly developed the confidence to talk about difficult issues in my life. It’s not always welcomed by others so I do take a chance on it. Felt right seen as it was on my mind on this camp. I’m glad that you could relate and enjoyed the video. I loved making it ☺️BW, Sarah
Here from Pat :) glad he plugged your channel and seeing these spots from a different perspective. Keep it up sarah and the subscribers will keep coming. Thanks for a great informative vid
Thank you very much for stopping by Daniel. It’s much appreciated. I’m glad that you enjoyed this video, it’s certainly lovely up there at the moment with all the snow, it’s very peaceful too, in summer it’s too busy for me, I’ve seen all the campers from mam tor summit awaiting sunrise with them. Must have been 40 odd people up there on Thursday morning 🌅 great that people want to get out. ATB, Sarah
Epic video Sarah, all of your vids are wonderful, had to laugh when u got that rock out I was doing the exact same thing probably at the same time, I had to use it again to get them out in the morning... Loving your success... Well deserved it was a great vid I'm going to go up there in the summer.. Keep em coming 🏕️🙂
Twiiigggyyyyyy! Love it when you comment especially knowing that you were out that night too,in a very special place. I wonder where you got your rock from? 😉 I kicked the pegs to wobble them out the hole next morning they must be about 12 inch long! Needed them though. I’m looking forward to your video, your a true inspiration to me Mick and I’m forever thankful for your relaxing content, rambling away in the same places as me at different times as work allows, just like me. Special that. See ya ont next un’ 🙌🏻 Twiggy ledgend ❤
@@SoloSarahBX Both out on a cold Wednesday, the scenery was stunning that night and morning, really enjoyed it being back after 5 weeks... Gone rusty, forgot how to edit.. Nice have a special connection with you.. Always cheers me up to see u out.. Your editing is like lightning. My vid will be nxt week. Take care out there Sarah , sure you'll be out again soon 🙂🏕️
@@twiggyescapes yes it’s lovely Mick 😊 like minded folk doing what makes them happy. Feels good 👍🏻 I edit straight from my phone at the moment so it’s easy, it has to be though. Better when I have a day off after camp to sort my kit and make a video, part of the enjoyment. It would change if I got a go pro/drone etc. I’d have to upload to my MacBook and maybe download some editing software. We’ll see. I’ll be out again soon for sure. Take all the time you need for the video making. When your the boss you can do what you like 😁
Thanks for sharing your camping with us again Sarah. I once found a she wee while fishing,I wasn't aware what it was until my wife told me,was then obv disposed of😂. Looks cold, ill hopefully be off out on my next day's off. Atb,Bri😊
Not the best catch eh? 😆 yeah mine was rubbish but I didn’t chuck it in your river lol. The Kiddiewhizzer is fab though, works well for me. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed this one and I’ll see you in the next! ATB, Sarah
It was the coldest camp I’ve challenged myself to yet. I trusted myself and the kit, I did get cold but I ate drank and layered up. I was pleased with everything that I’ve learned keeping me safe. ATB, Thank you, Sarah
Yo SSB, brilliant watched ya all cosy in my hammock my 2nd overnight this week ground dwelling on the previous one. Have thought about trying hammock camping? We all need me time to reset... Another epic video.. Thanks
Hey 👋🏻 sounds great! 🏕️ I’d like to try a hammock yes, I would like to try a trekking pole tent aswell and also a bivvy with tarp etc. so many possibilities and money to be spent if I choose 😂 I love the indigenous woods so hoping to try new things going forward. ATB, Sarah
Really enjoying your channel.loving your honesty and what camping does for you.at 67 I have friends who wonder why I camp.i,lol get them to watch this😀you never know, after all it was watching TH-cam during lock down that eventually got me out.thanks for your hard work.
Well isn’t that special, thank you for sharing that. I’m glad to hear that you enjoy camping too. Nit everyone understands it. We are a different breed if human 😂 I’ll see you on the next camp ⛺️ ATB, Sarah
Hey 👋🏻 thanks for stopping by! Im sure he’s too busy on a hill somewhere talking about stoves 😂 I haven’t camped with anyone else as yet. A few folk have mentioned about colab camps but I don’t tend to camp with people I haven’t met before or don’t know. It just feels a bit too out of my comfort zone at the moment. First time for everything though. I’m still a newbie to all of this 😊 thanks for the suggestion, best wishes, Sarah
Lovely vid that Sarah, and thankyou for opening up about mental health its good to get it out there. Lovely seeing the little sheepsh asleepsh on the hills in the morning sithi, magic that lass, and so peaceful x
Ashleepsh 😂😂😂 ey up Mr Jiggs 👍🏻 thanks for watching, it was peaceful, I really needed that and everything that I saw, felt like a real treat. I havnt camped there before due to its popularity so even that night I was surprised to have only seen a few footprints in the snow. Magic mate ✨⛺️✨ATB, Sarah
@@SoloSarahBX Eyup chuck, glad you enjoyed it, Its such a beautiful area around there, I was up cavedale not long ago. I loved your shot of winnats pass that was spectacular! I've tried cycling up there a few times and its hard work oooof! I also remember going up it in my first Austin Mini in the early nineties, it nearly didnt make it! :D. Just given Belinda Berlingo some tlc this week btw as the brakes were playing up; I've put on some new pads and discs, cleaned of the reluctor ring and replaced the abs sensors and she's as reyt as rain sithi, hooray!
New to your channel and enjoyed your cheery style Two gear questions: What's your initial thoughts on the Big Agnes for comfort+ warmth ? What's the wee meths cooker setup and how much meths do you go through for a couple brews & a couple meals ? Looking forward to more of your adventures and chatter 🙂
Welcome aboard! The Big Agnes was a delight to use. It went down to probably -5 that night and I didn’t feel any cold through the mat. It’s very thick and insulated. It’s quiet and the mattress style baffles are very comfortable as a side sleeper. The stove is by ‘Speedster Stoves’ it’s the Boarder raider cook set. I used the 50ml burner in this video and it’s enough to boil 500mls very cold water and burns some after too. I cooked a steak and potatoes in my last video with just 50ml. I take an 8oz bottle of bio ethanol with me and always come home with a third spare. Sometimes I just light the stove for warmth and lighting ☺️
I pitched there, a bit nearer to the rocks. I was in my tent just about to fall asleep, around 10.30pm, when I heard voices in the distance. They got louder and louder and eventually a group of drunk teenage boys arrived and decided they'd sit a few metres away with their feet dangling over the edge! They were there for ages before disappearing back the way they came! So a nice place to camp in January, maybe one to avoid when it's warmer.
I will not be camping on the Pass in summer, it’s too popular, I’m always on the hunt for camps out the way, thanks for sharing, I hope you still enjoyed your camp after they’d left you in peace 😊ATB, Sarah
Yep, you are costing me money young lady! 🙈🤣With that and the alcohol stove I reckon I'm going to start sending you the bill 🤣🤣🤣 So in return, I can highly recommend a Circe Care pee cloth. 😘 I'm still practicing in the shower with the Whizz but it's sooo much better than the shee wee 🤣 I left work at 50 following an incident which resulted in the death of one colleague and serious injury of another but it was the suicide of yet another that finally made me walk away. The struggles are real x Love your videos 🥰
Oh Sue, I’m so sorry to hear your story. Unfortunately I have witnessed the ending of someone’s life in the most tragic circumstances and can find that stuff quite triggering especially in the job that I do which is full of trauma as much as it is full of beauty and new beginnings. The emotion work of midwifery sure can get me down at times only may be lifted back up with possibilities and positivity, as an empathetic person this can be tough. Hence forth my camping escapades from the responsibilities of life. Being responsible for JUST ME feels extremely freeing in a world where I am continuously conforming to rules and regulations. As for the pre cloth please tell me more! I hate using toilet paper 🧻 as for the stove, you’re a sucker like me 😆🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 happy spending! Isn’t it awesome? BW, Sarah
This is one I'll definitely watch again. Thank you for your honest sharing, not just of the beauty of the landsape you clearly have such love and passion for, and the simple pleasures that wild camping give, but also for helping others know that there is hope, there can be healing and that no matter how dark the night, the sun will rise again, just like it did for your video. Stay safe , stay strong, and thanks for such wonderful content. ATB, George
“No matter how dark the night, the sun will rise again “🥹 thank you George. It was such a beautiful camp in a location that I have been in awe of since I was a child. I’ll definitely return around that area, I have another pitch in mind with great views when the weather is on my side. Thank you for supporting my journey, ATB, Sarah
@@Martycycleman I saw his lights on the ground before I realised it was a bike. I was expecting to encounter another camper as it can be a popular spot but having just come up from the road on a very steep treacherous snowy path on the edge it surprised me to see a biker! Fair play to that man 🤩
Yeah it was tough just carrying on to leave her to it. Tough cookies them. I’ve seen a lot of dead sheep around kinder scout. Really sad. I’ve had snakes and lizards 🦎 even seahorses and feel the same love for them as I do my dogs 😂
Woooow. Best yet Sarah. Superb video and good on you girl for speaking about life's struggles. Inspirational to be honest. Love everything about your video's. Passion. Humour. Honesty. The best 4 me❤❤
Hey 👋🏻 I’m really chuffed that you enjoyed the video. I always try to capture why I think is honest, funny at times and shows my passion for the Peak District and this incredible hobby. It makes me happy to know that you’ve picked up on this and I will continue to enjoy the camps for what they are. I hope as my fitness builds I’ll be off out on longer hikes. Blimy that means a longer video 😂ATB, Sarah
Eeee that were well good lass. You wouldn’t be expecting cyclists up there especially in that snow. It’s slippy just walking it. Great video. Grab yourself a pack of those dead cat mufflers for the top of the Boya and then you don’t need to use the noise reduction feature. There are some with tighteners on so it’s really tight on top of the mic. I always found that the noise reduction reduced the quality for some reason. I too got mine wet on my WheelStones camp and had to replace. Luckily it was in the time frame for returning though. Did the pegs work well for you? That’s something i need to change. I still have my original hook ones 🤦🏻. Just haven’t got round to sorting them yet lol. All the best! Enjoy the rest of your hols. Gav
Yes 🙌🏻 it was a bit of a surprise and certainly a challenge on the steep path at night! I may have to grab some mufflers 😂 that little black thing runs off all the time, the pegs were ace, I got them heavy and cheap though. I know there are lighter ones, these were good to get past the frozen ground with the help from lump hammer rock 😂 ATB, I have you vid on my library list! Sarah

Awwww that’s lovely, o don’t think I’ll ever leave, Drveon is a pretty strong contender though right? 🤩 thanks for watching ✨ATB, Sarah

Take care,
M.
What an amazing true story thank you for sharing that I am so grateful as I am for your support. I hope that you make it out soon. London can be draining , the Peak District your recharging station ❤️ my very best wishes to you, Sarah
When I was feeling rubbish before I found camping out myself I’d often tune into Patrick Dickinson, Andy Beavers, Paul Messner, Twiggy Escapes, Dave Goodman, Hengist Wild Camps, Mark Taylor Outdoors, Mick Outdoors oh the list is endless! They always give my mood a lift and inspired me to get outside ✨
Lovely camp....as for the snow. Unfortunately, now you'll just be desperate to do another . It's very intoxicating. . . . Thanks again
Ps don’t need to drop a grand in a tent, yours is perfect, I’d rather have Hillary than a nice car 🚙 😂
ATB Andy, thanks for teaching and have.

That sounds fantastic! What a memory. I’ve camped out in army issue stuff in the snow it’s great, albeit much heavier than the kit I own now ☺️
@@SoloSarahBX yes I remember it was a really heavy brown canvas, 3 foot high with 2 solid wood poles.

What a relaxing watch with beautiful views thank you for sharing... atb chris new subscriber.

Still watching 😊. You talking to your new flock🫠. A mob of ewes or a flock? Either way , you had their attention. Night buddy and happy camping 😊
That was my favourite part of the camp. There’s always something that happens that seems to make things feel like it’s all meant to be ✨
Always a nice place to camp there and the tent looking great too. Good audio as ever 🤙🏼
Great to hear that Sheffield accent, born and brought up there myself, so near to Peak District too.

Hi Michael when I read your comment this morning I had tears in my eyes. It’s beautiful to read comments that people write once they have watched my video. It brings ha me great peace and inspiration to film the next one ✨⛺️✨best wishes, Sarah

A celebration of what I love which is one of the biggest decisions I’ve made putting myself out there with all of
My vulnerability. Thank you for your continued support and I feel very humbled to have inspired you on your journey 😊ATB, Sarah

Ha ha! Yes I was surprised not to be joined by anyone else. That path in was rather sketchy with a good blanket of snow though. Maybe put people off. Glad I had the spikes! The groundhog legs were essential. So glad I grabbed some on the way back from my recce, ATB, Sarah
I do love a winter wild camp but not at all fond of the bitey little bugger wind... 😊.. Thank you for sharing... 👍

Was that ambulance for the sheep. It's surprising how many limping sheep there are I reckon it's too expensive to get them treated.
I got her out and she ran, I was really pleased that day ☺️
Great views, personal insight and inspiration, thanks

Two gear questions:
What's your initial thoughts on the Big Agnes for comfort+ warmth ?
There's a HUGE 👍 here whilst listening to your words on this one. Thank you SoloSarah
🥹 you never know what’s going to come out until you are on your own out there. I find it incredibly therapeutic, Thank you for watching, ATB, Sarah
Aye it was quiet after that. Lovely spot, just a bit too near civilisation! I think that was your best video yet, I'm glad you battled the demons.
Yep, you are costing me money young lady! 🙈🤣With that and the alcohol stove I reckon I'm going to start sending you the bill 🤣🤣🤣 So in return, I can highly recommend a Circe Care pee cloth. 😘 I'm still practicing in the shower with the Whizz but it's sooo much better than the shee wee 🤣
I left work at 50 following an incident which resulted in the death of one colleague and serious injury of another but it was the suicide of yet another that finally made me walk away. The struggles are real x

BW, Sarah
