- Just a woman and her tents 😂! SIMPLE! No frills, little bit if exercise and a chat. Sometimes it’s good to see some tents all set up together isn’t it? How often to we get that chance unless we camp in groups? Had my own little tent exped and made a video to tell a story about how they came to be.

great vid sarah I've still got a oex phox 2 v2 that I've just come back from snowdonia and there great tents if anyone is on a budget and wants a good standard tent. I am looking for another now too so loved this vid as its given me some ideas. At 6.2-6.3 " tall and stocky the oex is fine but a little extra room would be welcomed with the next tent i get. the oex is about 2kg so not the lightest but im ok with that but im looking now for a 3 birth i think as the phox 2 is suppose to be two man but its just big enough for me so i wouldn't think anyone else would get in it as it would be rather cozy. reyt ill see ya on next un. happy camping 😊

I like the idea of the double loops on the corner points.as I've always said no tent is perfect so haveing 2 makes sense 1 for winter 1 for 3 seasons.but as most campers know we never only have 2 lol.
Right now I can’t imagine needing another tent but I can definitely imagine wanting another tent 🤣 I now know what I like and what I need from the tents in each season but just like my mood, things change, locations do and so does technology etc. Soulo for winter, Xmid for summer although I’m very tempted to push the Xmid through winter as it is tested in some more extreme conditions in its home country 🇨🇦 👍🏻

Thank you so much 😊 it was really good to camp by myself on Saturday night. Definitely needed to get away from it all. I am very comfortable in my own thoughts and solo so it pays dividends no end when I’m feeling that way out. Life happens when we are busy making plans. Life events always take priority over TH-cam 😊⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️

I love a tent vid it's good to see what others have and like, I use a oex phoxx 11 for my woodland camping but looking for a better tent but just can't make my mind up what to replace it with, and my bl soulo in green what I absolutely love and would never part with, hope your house move goes well and you and family are very happy 👍atb😮

Hiya Sarah, if your thinking of a 5th tent 😂 ,I have the alpkit soloist, just over 1 kilo and can get it to around the size of a cola can.Not the easiest to get in and out of, but brilliant for the back pack.Brilliant video. Really enjoyed. Very best wishes.

Sarah, the way you bookend your films with intro 'Ayup campers!' and the gradual introduction of the playout music is very slick and I like it.
Your approach to purchasing equipment is a good one.As you say, your choices are largely informed by economics. A lakeland sheep farmer once said, 'Poverty has been good to me, it has saved me from my worst excesses.'
Unfortunately no such constraints applied when I ordered my camping gear some years ago.I was awash with disposable income and spent unwisely.Acquiring all manner of tat that I didn't need. ( I mean, a set of fish knives? )However, things are different now that I've gone ultra-ultra-ultra lightweight.
MY complete kit now comprises, a fresh sock ( used in rotation ); a toothbrush cut in half and the bristles discarded, a toilet brush and a loofah.No need for a cumbersome rucksack as all these essential items are easily stowed in the suspender belt which I wear on medical advice. TTFN, Mike.

Folk really do need to do the research before buying a tent.
Big considerations are:
Budget
How you intend to wild camp?
To what degree is weight an issue..ie. do you do relatively short walks to your pitch point?
Are you a relatively fair weather wild camper?
Age?
I'm 68. A veteran. Love camping, but aware of my limits. Don't get out as often as I want; like hiking; enjoy overnights where the camp and camp fire experience is really important. Don't want to stay in a tent which is a crawl space.
Where do you camp? In the mountains/ hills. In the woods?
Yep. I have four tents, in order of buying. Naturehike Cloud Up 2; Naturehike Cloud Peak 2; MSR Elixir 2 and a One Tigris backwoods bungalow.
I don't hike too far from the car, so weight is not a problem. I enjoy a little extra space. Budget matters. I wildcamp in the hills; in woodland and on campsites.
I keep returning to the Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 as my go to tent, which meets my needs and the One Tigris for woodland camping
Both have been used in high wind conditions and did well.
The MSR and Cloud Up aren't being used so they will be sold. The MSR Elixir was an impulse buy because of price, but it has never been used as I really don't like inner pitch first tents after a soaking with the Cloud Up 2
I don't mean any criticism of you and your choices. You work hard and spend your own money.

We all have different goals, dreams and wishes and to think things through is one of our greatest gifts before committing to get the best out of an experience and bring it to fruition. It’s what keeps us safe and happy. I’m pleased with my choices of tent as time has gone by this year, I have intentionally bought each one after lots of research and I’m terrible when it comes to letting things go but with the Hyena I know the tent will see some great places and she going to someone special. I can’t let the tent sit about and not see daylight even though it is just a tiny fabric shelter 😊 great to hear what your chosen tents and brought your camping experience 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
a lot of this upload resonates with me right now. been messed about 6 months with a "cash" buyer who stalled and dragged things on to then pull out as wasnt a cash buyer and the people buying his house had dropped out. luckily listed and sold again within 4 days and this is nearing completion. For the tent journey, this was the right approach. too many people want the best tent right away but you need to find your fit and feel of it first so start off with the big bulky ones and amend as needed. its the same with your gear too. i have different tents for different camps. i've got a mid range decathlon one for if i'm going to where a fire pit is as that can get embers and i wouldnt be bothered, got lanshan for summer nights, good old banshee for low down stealth and ones like the vern or helm for windier weather. i had them magnets a couple years ago, for headphone wires i think. kept coming loose on my lanshan because too much door fabric to roll up but theyre definitely good. I always have a final night when getting rid of the tent as more than anything you know its going in good condition to the next owner but also it reminds you of the times it was used!

I always had a hankering for one of those Hillary's Sarah but never yet got around to getting myself one, everything about their looks says durability and high quality of design and workmanship and they are all of those things, but problem is if her indoors ever found out I purchased one most likely she would murder me or worse, cant figure out how she ever got to find out how pricey hilleberg tents are, must have heard me talking in my sleep about them.

You mentioned a declutter, did you just chuck things or was it by negotiation? If I chucked anything of my wife's a phrase involving testicles and barbed wire comes to mind, if my son's he'd go mad. Ha ha!! I am very aware that I am a great sorter outer but I do always check with the Mr before slinging it! We did it together and for my son’s room I asked permission to sort it out before he went to school. I’ve still got my testicles so I’m good 🤣
Moving is a huge commitment isn’t it? It’s life changing, but what I do love about camping is being able to pick my home up and take it anywhere. I’ve had to move 18years worth of stuff, sort it and start afresh, luckily we are ready for that challenge. The tents make me happy for the places and memories and my home is very much the same. I’m excited for making this next place our home and showering it with love and heaps of cash 🤣
Of course I saw the picture! It was lovely to see and just like Paul, I hope to bump into Pat one day, shake his hand and thank him for everything he’s taught me and all the laughs I’ve had watching his collection of videos 😊

Thank you so much for that. I really did enjoy making this video. I really did enjoy taking all the tents out and seeing them together, they are certainly some of my most prized possessions. I love them mostly for the memories of the camps I’ve had but also for their design and usability, every detail has been well thought out for us to make camps comfortable and safe. I’ve come to realise that I enjoy camping with a view and a large open door to gaze out, I enjoy the feeling of refuge and shelter in the primitive sense. It’s an innate feeling. Far too big for me to carry in my pack, so I had to sell it.... here is a difficult question for you,,, you said you were too tight to cough up £900 for your hilleberg!... god forbid that somthing was to happen to it, but if it got lost or stolen. Would you now spend that amount of money, knowing the security and safety it gives you ??????.Take care out there.
Hmmm I think I would ya know…if anything happened to it I’d work a few extra shifts and save for it because I know how much enjoyment I get out of it. At the time of purchase last year I wouldn’t have bought it myself, I didn’t dare! However, my husband bought it me as my big prezzie for the big 40th! I guess he wanted to get me something very special and knows how much I love my camping adventures. He also knew that I wanted one and knew it would keep me safe no matter the weather conditions. The Xmid is a comfortable spend for me. I hope the Soulo serves me well for many years. Thank you for watching!

On the Soto lighter: tip, if you push the little slider in first on the trigger, then push down keeping the slider pushed in, it will light first time. No multiple clicks. Also I hadn’t noticed for weeks, but underneath the device there’s a plus or minus screw which changes the length of the flame. Atb
Hiya Sarah I know it's hard reading all the comments you get and replying to them all but hope you are doing well and really glad your not in pain with your tooth no more because I spent 2 years in tears with tooth pain I had nights with pain so bad I was crying rocking backwards and forwards on my bed for hours on end it's actually traumatised me it was just one tooth after another and I was the same just doped up on codeine and then had god nose how many local anesthetics then all my head would start shaking and lots of trips to the dentist and x rays and half my teeth pulled out and to top it off I fell and smashed my head in years ago and then 3 years ago I started getting really bad headaches so went for a ct scan and found out I have a small calcified 3mm meningioma brain tumour so I now have a constant headache that never goes away so your right about chronic pain it's absolutely horrible people don't understand until it happens to them but if you are reading this so glad you are pain free with your tooth and can now enjoy eating again must have been great camping again with no tooth pain 😊👍great video as usual

To write this and share your experience. I’m sorry to hear you had it rough. I now know first hand how awful it is. I was miserable and it was only for a relatively short time but life as I knew it was impossible and I could t do the things I loved as the pain took over unless I was dosed up on codeine and paracetamol. Fantastic! The OEX tents are awesome and made wild camping accessible and safe for me on that first camp! Love the green Soulo. They are quite something! 👌🏻👌🏻
