    I have spent a week comparing the standard size vs the mini. I run with my hair braided as well and couldn’t figure out the best fit with the standard size! I’m a 6’ tall Amazon woman with a large head, but decided to go with the mini because I usually wear a braid. Having braids over the band is much more comfortable for long runs! The mini it is! Thank you for this review!!

    Hi Matt! I found your channel several months ago from watching your Shokz review videos! As a jump roper, I was searching for headphones or earbuds that would stay in my ears and not take flight during a drenching jump rope session. Jump ropers perspire more than runners because we aren’t creating our own headwinds to cool us down. I bought a pair of OpenRuns several months back and I absolutely love them. They are perfect for jumping rope and I’m constantly recommending them to other jumpers on social media. I completely agree with the battery life - I probably charge them every 6 weeks and they’re ready for jump roping 4 times a week for 30 minutes. Another amazing feature is that they remember the volume levels on my iPad. If I adjust the volume of Spotify for external speakers, when I connect my OpenRuns, the volume returns to the original level. Maybe other headphones do that, but none I’ve ever used. Can’t say enough good things about them!

    I have a really small head, and the mini is still a tad too big...
    But mine came with a headband!
    Let me tell you how awesome these are now!
    I put them on, raise the back up so it sits perfectly, and then put the headband on to keep in in place. I can then put on my winter hat!
    So glad I found these! The ones that stick in your ear are HORRIBLE if you have to wear a winter hat all day

    I have an older pair of aftershox. They’ve been amazing. I wear them outside for running in temperatures that range from -30degrees Celsius to +38 degrees Celsius One of the challenges of being an outdoor runner in Canada is trying to find equipment that will withstand pretty intense temperatures. My current pair of shox lasted three years running in these crazy temperatures. They are the only durable headphones I’ve found that also help keep me safe while running outside.
    I’m happy you showed the differences in the sizes because I’ve been thinking the mini but now after seeing your review, I will definitely get the mini!

    I actually use my titaniums when I mow. I use foam ear plugs for ear protection, and the shokzs give me clear audio while using lawn equipment. Only down side is you can't chat with your neighbors as easily during the mow!

      This is a fantastic use of the headphones with ear plugs. You get to protect your hearing and still listed to what you want! Depending on who your neighbors are, the earplugs aren't necessarily a down side! 🤣

      I'm looking into bone conductor earphones and this is actually a great argument for getting them. Aside from running, I like putting some music on while vacuuming, but worry about my ear health when I blast music through in-ears over the noise of the vacuum cleaner.

    • @its_Matt_B_
      @its_Matt_B_  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MetallicAddict15 Your good to worry about your ear health, but the down side of bone conduction is they don’t work well when you use them in loud environments. Remember your ears are still open! I doubt you’d be able to hear anything over a vacuum cleaner. Same goes on an aircraft with the ambient engine noise. This can be remedied by wearing ear plugs, but who wants to do that!

    Well I received my Openrun phones few hours back. I think the sound quality is rather good especially female vocalist. I played Carly Simons Hotcakes and her voice sounded great. The only issue I've had is getting the sound balance right, I was having problems with sound mostly coming from the right. I did reset them and also moved the balance on my Pixel a bit to the left. What I've found is that I can control the soundstage ( I like voices being in middle of my head) I found best way was to move the right hand transducer forward a bit this seems to move the sound more to the left.. works for me anyway.

    Hi Matt. Glad you made this video as I've been curious about bone conduction headphones. Presently, I switch between Apple AirPods and Bose Soundsport. The AirPods are great because they're wireless, but they constantly feel like they're going to fall out of my ear. Bose Soundsport sound great, but the dangling cord drives me nuts and if I'm running on the treadmill there is a 100% chance my hand will catch the cord and send my headphones and phone careening down the belt to the floor.

    • @its_Matt_B_
      @its_Matt_B_  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It sounds to me like you’re the ideal person for these headphones! I use my AirPods Pro for a more immersive listening experience when I’m at home, but I would never use them for exercise (they feel like they’d fall out and I’m scared to lose one). I use my Shokz every day for my workouts and they’re the best (most convenient) I’ve found for using while being active.

    I was curious about these, so I watched multiple reviews. I am convinced that either Shokz sends a script with a free product (and something extra, perhaps), or people cite each other videos without plagiarism or every reviewer comes to the same video structure magically. I bought cheaper $25 headphones just to see the difference (thanks to another youtube video) - the sound quality was very similar, and connectivity, and the quick charge is not worth $155 extra for me. The $25 bone conduction headphone has now slowly replacing my notice cancelling earphones (mostly used for microphone usage and noise cancellation). By the way, I watched this video twice, once before watching and once after. Good video.

    • @its_Matt_B_
      @its_Matt_B_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shokz did indeed send me these headphones, however there was no script and they didn’t tell me what I should include. I think the features of a pair of headphones are so limited that every reviewer talks about the same things. I’m so glad to hear you found the less expensive option worked well for you. I’ve tried cheaper options and always found the sound to be very funny compared with these Shokz!

    Hey Matt! I’ve developed tinnitus and am thinking of moving from my AirPod Pros to Openrun, to prevent further damage to my ears. I am a runner as well and have always just used one AirPod while running, but I think these would be an improvement and safer. In addition using them while running, I would want to use them at work and would be using them anywhere from 9 hours to 10 a day. This requirement to use them for so long is kind of pushing me into the Pros division of Openrun with their 10 hour battery life and 5 minute quick charge. However, I went by Best Buy this evening to test both the openruns, and the openrun pros. I actually liked the way the openruns fit over the pros, and I didn’t notice much difference in sound. Have you noticed a difference in the way these fit your head? I’m really having a problem deciding on which to get. I like everything better on the pro, except for the fit and the ipx rating. What are your thoughts?

    • @its_Matt_B_
      @its_Matt_B_  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey!
      I don't notice any difference in the sound quality and the difference in fit isn't noticeable to me. With that said, I think comfort is the most important aspect when wearing them for a long time, so IMO the regular OpenRun are the ones to go with. I think you could figure out charging them during a day at work, if you've been using the AirPod Pro you must already have to charge them! Good luck with your decision! I'm sure you'll be happy either way and if you decide to go with the Pro will get used to how they feel!

    I've always wanted to wear earbuds while kayaking, but fear of dumping it, or not hearing boat traffic keeps me from trying. I just bought these because I'm training for a half marathon, but now I'm not afraid of falling in the water, either! I was actually hoping to get a tutorial on the multi point connection technology. I currently use my blue earbuds (matching my blue phone) for my phone and my white earbuds (matches, of course) for my Garmin. I'm mildly afraid to connect both to my minis that Ijust got in the mail today. It may be nice to get a phone call if I need to...but then will it be hard to get back to the music on my Garmin without a bunch of fiddling?? I may not connect my phone. Just can't decide...🤔

      Im glad your new minis are going to work for you in all situations. As far as connecting to two devices, this is how Shokz says to do it: "While you won’t receive audio from both devices at the same time, you’ll be able to seamlessly transition from one device to the other. To pair multiple devices through multipoint pairing: Start with your headphones turned off. Enter pairing mode by pressing and holding the volume+ button for 5-7 seconds, until the LED light flashes red and blue. Press and hold the multifunction button and volume+ button for 2-3 seconds. Audrey says "Multipoint Enabled." Pair first device. Audrey says "Connected." Turn your headphones off. Re-enter pairing mode by pressing and holding the volume+ button for 5-7 seconds, until the LED light flashes red and blue. Pair the second device. Audrey says "Device Two Connected." Turn your headphones off. Your headphones should now be connected to both devices."

      @@homesavvytech That’s s good question. I didn’t like the OpenMove as much as the OpenRun, but it’s for a silly reason; I thought the OpenRun looked better. The OpenRun allegedly has better sound, but that’s wasn’t anything I noticed. The OpenRun are waterproof (IP67) rather than the water resistant OpenMove (IP55), but for 99% of use cases, the difference won’t matter.

I’ve taken these on rainy outdoor runs, and they have stayed in fine. I have found that they do slip out a little bit after intense sweating workouts for long periods of time. But i haven’t had a big problem with them. My con to them is that i hear a lot of wind noise and that makes me turn the volume up louder to hear the music but then I have trouble hearing my surroundings when biking or running.

    i love your review. i am shopping for bone conduction like the mini not the standard. However, my dilemma is when using them in the gym for weight training. I don't have good luck with earbuds staying in my ear doing the bench press or bent over rows. When bench pressing, they look like they will hit the bench and get bumped around, and the sweat always lets them fall off in that position or bent over row position. my head measured 9 and 1/8 inches, do you think this will still pose an issue for me?

    • @its_Matt_B_

      I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine. I use them on the bench and don’t feel them as the part that goes behind your head is low enough that it shouldn’t bother you. Even if the back of the headphones do touch the bench, I think you’ll be fine as they still won’t fall off and you’ll still be able to hear your music.

    I have been using plantronics backbeat fit earbuds 9 (with the same kind of neck band) and they are finally at minimal battery life 😞. For music they are great open earbuds on my bike rides and also okay for calls. They don't make them anymore or i'd get a new pair. They also block the wind on cold days as they sit above my ear opening. i've a couple questions; do the shockz inhibit the air into the ear at all? Do you get wind howl when biking? How would you describe the music quality? Tinny? Just mids and highs? What about for music with vocals and music that is only instrumental? Any advice you can give would be great, never had bone conducting before. Thx. loved the video btw

      I had a pair of Backbeat Fit before and I really liked them too!
      Shokz do not block wind from entering your ear; the transducers (the part that sits in front of your ear canal is quite low profile). I would describe the music quality as quite good. The technology has got better and these are some of the best i've used. They suffer a little with bass, but it's not horrible and I wouldn't say the sound is tinny. They are definitely better when you're in a quiet environment, because the headphones compete with the sound around you (remember, your ear canals are open).

For example, if an unauthorized seller has stolen the headphones, why would anyone expect a warranty when they’re sold? Simply buy from an authorized seller to get the benefits. If you’re getting a better price from buying from an unauthorized seller, then you’re choosing that benefit over the warranty.

      I don’t like to say bone conduction has poor bass quality because that would be like saying a petrol powered vehicle has a poor environmental impact.
      To get a vehicle with a good environmental impact you need a different product. The same is true with bass in bone conduction headphones. Bone conduction technology does not allow the type of base that in-ear or over-the-ear headphones can produce so to ding it for having “poor bass” isn’t exactly a fair judgment. The benefits of the OpenRun come in safety and convenience, but I haven’t exactly answered your question: I like bass as much as the next person, however I don’t find the OpenRun lacking because of how I use them: for running/exercise.
      I would not recommend them for getting lost in the deep bass and immersive sound experience you expect from high-end over the ear headphones. I would recommend them for the ability to listen to what you want and remain cognizant of your surroundings.
      I hope this helps a little. Also, check out Shokz return policy! 😉

If it’s a quality audio experience you’re after, these aren’t the headphones for you. That isn’t their purpose. However, I listen to top 40 pop music while I’m wearing them and for that type of music and expecting only entertainment during a workout, I am totally satisfied with the bass.
