HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

Hello from Seattle WA 👊🦊👍
In my city in Germany we currently have -2.1°C... 28,22°F...
Those figurines are Ratfink characters, drawn by Ed “Big Daddy” Roth back in the 60’s and 70’s. You would remember them driving really rad hot rods with big gear shifts hanging out of the top….classic artworks ….. You are a lucky man 😊👍
The ones you were thinking of were based off of a line Ed did for MPC Model Cars. These were more like the ones that were were in CarTOONS Magazine. MAD Magazine for the hot rod culture.
The "Rat Fink" rat, and others were from some cartoons Ed used to draw. The Rat became his logo and was the most famous of them.
MPC was based in the area i live in. The International Show Car Assn. (ISCA , Bob Laravee head honcho, sign painter, stock car driver, entrepreneur.) was not too far away. Both suburbs of Detroit. I can't remember who built the original smaller scale show cars (there scale was that the rear wheels were 15" x 10 or 12". Everything else was based off off that. I do know when they needed to be repainted, that was done a quarter-mile down the road from me. KusTOM's Unlimited was owned by Tom Holden, who built a Riddler Award winning (a very very sought after award, an ISCA award) car owned that shop. The car Tom built and was most famous for was a full custom '59 (?) Chevy Impala that had a Batmobile look to it. It had full jet air plane canopies instead of split ones.
I WENT TOO CRAZY ON AN EXPLAINATION AGAIN . . . didn't I . . . ?? 🤔😮💨😡🤬 I hate when I DO THAT!!!!!
In later life, Big Daddy moved to Utah, and joined the Mormon church.
Not a move I'd expect. Mormons, for the most part, are quite conservative.
Not what you'd find in a hotrod cartoonist. (If I wasn't raised as a Mormon,
I wouldn't know. Kinda like Gladys Knight joining the Church.)
steve
@@steveskouson9620 I hate to say it, but Utah's conservatives have gone off the deep end. They have all gone to the extreme right wing.
You sir have some odd subs😂

@russkydeutsch I live in Eastern Washington State. Never tried Vegemite.
My mind instantly went there as well. Loved that song. Have no idea what it tastes like, but nice to see a cameo of it in the stacks vids.
@@wesleyehowell its song lyrics
@@prodacj I gathered that. I also know that Vegemite is apparently a food group in Australia, hence my pointing out that I live in Eastern Washington.

I'm really jealous of the stones! My favorite movie!
Yes! That's what those are from 😁
FINAL FANTASY MUSIC IN THE CAR OMG MY MAN 😊
Ingot knows whats up in Life! Sleep-Eat-Rest-Repeat!
He is an example for us all!
Ingot is wise! I'm sure he is mentoring the younger Bullion on the meaning of life too.
I learned this lesson long ago as the Sloth is my spirit animal.
28:31 LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE?! Olmec medallions?!? Oh my god I’m in love.
Poor little Ingot... He's like... "Dude, it is 20 minutes to 6 in the morning, do you not have anything better to do? How about go back to bed"? Thanx again for a great start to a Friday!
You should totally do a casting of the 5th element blocks. That be a great addition to your treasure room
Man your videos are calming, and a seriously nice reprieve from the craziness of life. Thank you.
Shoutout to your friend giving you all that copper for the video
Please make a 25x25sm copper cube 😊
Please its really cool idea 💡❤
Make this please ❤❤❤
Really it will be amazing 🥶
I am too want to watch this cube
+
I am so jealous! I’ve never seen those stones from the fifth element before. Those are so awesome “multi pass”!!
Those 5th element stones are pretty cool.
Maybe cast versions of those in four different metals?
I don't think you're ever going to need a new pair of socks in your lifetime, even if you live to be 125.
the monster toys are from old 1970s - 1980s cards we had here in the USA, they were like the Garbage Patch Kids. also, those 4 large stones with the waves are from the 1997 movie "The 5th Element" with Bruce Willis.
Yes, I definitely know the fifth element blocks. It was the monsters that were confusing me because I knew they were old. I just wasn’t sure where and when👍🏻😁.
@@bigstackD I watch your videos on Friday at 1AM since you are on Saturday. we have Family in NSW, and I would love to visit Australia but I am 70 now and have a severe disability. But, I've been to Japan with the computer company (DEC Digital Equipment Corp) I worked for in the early 1980s. I love your dogs I am a cat person (aka "Crazy Cat Lady"). I grew up in NYC I and currently have 11 kitties I cannot see people throwing kittens out of cars. I was Fostering for a local cat rescue in the Mt Shasta Area of California for 12 years before moving to Klamath Falls in Southern Oregon 3 1/2 years ago. The newest kitty I've rescued is a "Mini Panther" named Brian, he loves to lay on my shoulders while I am on the Computer. I am a Ham Radio Operator (N6KV), I was going to send you one of my car Plates from California with my Call Sign. Keep up the melting and Stay cool. P.S. You need to build a Pool at your place to cool off. 😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻 if you look up my Call on QRZ.com you will see Mt. Shasta on my QSL card.
I had those cards when growing up and i was thinking about them when he was showing them but could not remember the name for the life of me. Those cards were so cool, love that 80s art!!!
@@bigstackD What melting video will you be doing next Friday?
@Screamingtut yeah mate, I do have a nice big pool here to cool off in , I just choose not to show it just yet👊🏻😁.
You should definitely do a different cast for each one of them earth fire wind and water stones, that would look amazing
Yeah, hold on to those, we may need the 5th element pretty soon.
i just showed that movie last friday to my teens at work. definitely a good one.
I can't get enough of this!! Seriously, I now look forward to your content every Friday like how as a kid I looked forward to Saturday morning cartoons!!🥰🥰🤘🤘😎
Me too. My Friday morning routine . . . drop the wife off at work, hit Micky D's for breakfast, turn the Wi-fi, and chill.
@bigstackD that bird that you fed is better at catching things than the entirety of the Aussie cricket team, lol.
G day from Vancouver Canada. We, (and I speak for, all,Canada) really appreciate the no,talking and no phucking posing.Just business, and a bit of animal, interaction perfect. Keep stacking bro.
so 4 elements you reached. it's your turn now-to do the 5Th element out of nordic gold!😂
Maybe Milla Jovovich would be available to do a body casting. 😉
Mate, your video's are my weekly friday treat! Keep em coming! All the best from Holland!
Same!
I love those long episodes. There's just one problem... They're too short 🙂
My newborn is a goddamn night owl… 3am… I’m watching this now.
A copper video??! Yes please!! My favorite.
I liked your quenching in butter, but I think it would have been more interesting to had had some popcorn in the tray surrounding the butter. 😀 Wonderful ASMR channel. I fell asleep watching at midnight my time, which is when it comes out in the winter. Summer, is 1. Stupid Daylight Savings Time makes me wait an hour in the summer.
WoW, those 5th element stones would be amazing to cast!!
Love copper melts and gift unboxings!
Today we've learned: you can hot-blue a metal in oil, but not in butter 😅
Is copper a water quench, or oil quench?
@@steveskouson9620 Today it was a melon quench.
I do enjoy a Friday morning. Thank you BigstackD. 👍👍👍👍👍
what kind, sweet, fans sending you stuff, maybe my favorite part
I must say i really enjoy your videos. I have been watching for a while now and i am pleased to see the channel grow and also your personal achievements. I have nothing to do with metal melting but thanks to you, i now know something and enjoy this art. Thank you for your videos. keep it up !
also, is it possible for you to get a termal camera? i would like to see thats it like on those ice quenches 😅
Always so satisfying to watch your videos!
The LOTHT pendants of life were a real throwback. Look forward to seeing more of those.
I love seeing the fan mail. There’s always cool stuff in them
That shot at 11:26 was soooooooo cool. Good on ya mate!
I normally can't stand the sound of chewing but when dogs do it its just adorable
Pouring copper and the subsequently freezing of it really makes me imagine what i would be when Hell freezes over. :)
Amazing vid and some amazing gifts too. The stones with the different patterns are from the fifth element movie and represent Air, Water, Fire, Earth. An amazing gift to get.
that Legends of the Hidden Temple pendant is giving me Nick GAS Nostalgia.
Your little "Monkees" are the coolest! So quiet and thier behavior so good, they deserve extra treats!
The stark contrast between bullion and ingot are so funny to watch. I always look forward to Friday to catch these videos!
I haven’t seen a Woolworths in over 40 years. I used to love going there in New Orleans
Ya kno, I really appreciate it, the dog timer, it's really nice for weeks when Im not really wanting to watch them, as much. Can skip however much of their secne as needed, and not have to try and find the end.
The shade sail would be a awesome idea and asethecly a great place for it and I like the... what I personally call "modern industrial" look of your property. It is a good use of hard and soft industrial products with the financial investment with a long term product. Especially since you put in the sweat equity and built it yourself. The work you put in the life stile you live the focus and commitment to your self and your community online and I'm confident enough to say without knowing your personal life is admirable. I'm hoping to have the strength and commitment that you have to your self, for what I may have for the rest of my years. Your pups are great I appreciate the breaks in the vids because it also shows a aspect of love and compassion and once again commitment to your self and those around you. I also like your aspect of an amenity the man behind the mask essentially!!! Much respect and admiration 👍 sorry I can't sign my name as I would a hand written letter to you in respect, let alone online security problems. I hope this msg finds you and helps you as much as I hope you may continue to help me if I have the opportunity 🙏
Thanks for your comment I appreciate all that you said. Have a happy safe weekend👊🏻😁🐾🐾
The four rhune stones from the Fifth Element movie, fantastic.
What a beautiful colour the copper bars go after the ice quench 👍
Great video as always, mate! keep doing what ya doing and you'll never work a day in your life. cheers all the way from USA
Thank you for aways putting a dome thing different with the routine. You’re the best. Marty face from aluminum! Or a rat fink pour !
This is the bigstackD and gugafoods crossover we've been waiting for.
Legends of the hidden temple coin is pretty neat, wish they detail had come out more.
The GTA V music at 28:13 was a nice touch 😄
Just how I like my copper ingot, well buttered.
Well, insomnia caught me out tonight, and I am actually here early for a BSD video. Let me grab a cup of hot cocoa (it’s winter in the States!) and settle back to watch my favorite metal melter - who happens to have the cutest French bulldogs, to boot!
Same here, bud
Mmm… baked cheese… 🤤
I really like the copper abomination half-coins. 😃
Love the great idea of cooking and quenching with hot metal !!! I agree 100% fire and explosions would have made it a little better but was all a great watch. I think your on to something with cooking and hot molten metal, ha ha ha Love it
You have such nice friends D. Bringing you such juicy copper wires. I love when copper bars freeze with the “bunched silk” look.
Try hitting a wire wheeled bar with your propane torch…the colours it brings out in the copper is spectacular. Ive heard it called “pearlizing” the bar.
Great video as always…enjoyed the quenching quite a bit!
The element stones! Love that movie!
Great diversity in the gifts sent. Fifth Element pieces look awesome.
Hello Big D. Greetings from Germany!
You inspired me to start casting myself using tin! Been smelting all day every day🎉❤
One way of beating the ball drop game: As soon as your target hole lines up with the top left corner of the cabinet, press the drop button. Go for the 75 ticket and 50 ticket holes as they are easier for the ball to fall thru. However I had several 100 point fall thru without touching sides!
Love watching your videos. An the dogs. Are stars.
Watch your videos every Friday. All the way from. Wales. In the uk.
Thank you yet again for my Friday nite zen! Sooo much goodness to watch. You are the best!
❤❤we watch it every Friday. Really great shots, super organized, elaborately edited scenes, good timing ❤❤
👏CLEAN 👏UP 👏THE 👏MOTOR 👏 MELT 👏
Soon my friend 👌🏻.
Gonna possibly do a 320kg motor melt next week so gonna have heaps extra to do 👍🏻
Doggy Time moves slowly down under compared to normal human time! 😂
Always great to watch one of these to wind down. Slightly jealous of the weather, it’s about -15 C on this end of the world.
42:18 - The four element stones are awesome! You’re all set now cuz you already have the Fifth Element! 😜
I still love the longer videos now, and I'm super jealous of the weather, been having some cold days, around -10F, about -23C
Crazy ideas for quenching! Imagine that was fun to plan at the grocery store. I can’t imagine how it smelled when you had all six of those next to each other.
Olmec coins! Gotta love the Nickelodeon nostalgia. Looking forward to seeing more. There’s a challenge in that: you should try to recreate the Shrine of the Silver Monkey statue!
Speaking of copper, are there any plans to clean up the bars from the 1k giant motor melt, or are those being saved for future kiln projects? Any plans to clean up/remelt some of the floor stack? All that metal is badly in need of a wirebrushing to bring it to its full glory. 😊
It wasn’t the fact he’d been up for 3 minutes.. he simply hit the snooze button.
Thanks for the great laughs to start the day--awesome episode.
I was worried there for a second you weren't gonna return your cart. Well done.
Nothing pisses me off more than lazy pricks at the supermarket. Yes, they do have people that come out and get your carts and trolleys and take them back but it only takes 24 seconds out of your life to make someone’s job a hell of a lot easier👍🏻
@@bigstackD opposite sides of the globe, brothers when it comes to shopping cart etiquette lol
@@bigstackD 2nd despicable act is them just throwing it in the return any old way. So, I take the time to straighten out the mess for the workers.
Sally sent you all 4 elements... Zorg is gonna be pissed...
I just love the bright red/orange color of copper it's just beautiful! Love your videos.
Oh I love the Fifth Element fan mail stuff.
You beat me to it, I was going to say put up a tarp to have some shade. Great video.
I wake up might night now I got some smelting ASMR 😅 somehow this channel feels so relaxing
Fantastic melt as always! Those element stones are awesome, love that movie so much!
Legends of the Hidden Temple!!! OMG I LOVED that show as a kid and seeing the medallion made me so happy 💙💙💙
I’ve actually never heard of that show, but a Subscriber mentioned it and when I saw the design I just had to make it. I’m definitely gonna make some more of all different types of metal as I want to bring the detail out a lot better👍🏻😁
Idk how you can get any work done in that heat. Pretty confident I’d have a stroke. Australians are built different! 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Your gifts were pretty great, and my favorite ones were, 1) the abundant 10mm sockets, 2) the "gone fishing" deep 10mm socket that was hiding.
I've pointed out to friends, just how hard it is to keep track of them slippery 10mm's, and I had no idea that it's a real problem around the world.
Those figurines have a rat fink style!!!
Those figures would be wild to cast. They look like the ratfink characters
🇸🇯🇸🇯Fun video today.
Different with all the food. That was cool.
I realy like that little zinc ingot. Clean and simple with that little scull.
Stlill think you should make one of those ice-pug forms into copper..
17:24 Well, that's a new interpretation of "A hot knife through butter..."😁
I love how the dog timer has no basis in actual time.
I love my Friday mornings!!
awesome stuff thank you for sharing the adventure and information.
Eurika moment. Oxidation occurs on the copper because of oxygen. If we replace oxygen with a noble gas such as argon in the furnace and a box to pour with argon pumped into it. The bars should indeed come out bright and shiny. Stainless tube into the furnace will be enough. Awesome episode brother
In the furnace? The argon and oxygen would fight each other for the space in the furnace, and reduce the efficiency. Unless I'm missing something here...
@@DDS029 welding uses the same method oxygen feeds the fire argon stops oxygen from entering when lid is open purple gold uses this method
Hey you did new, creative stuff!!! AWESOME!!!
And I'm freezing watching BigstackD in the heat. lol
Those fith element stones are pretty wicked
Ingots eye looks good again.
Satisfying total metal weight - 1234 Kgs, not sure if that was planned or just coincidental.
But love your videos man, shoutout from Costa Rica!
AMAZING WORK
What great content, appreciate all the camera hard work as well mate, spot on
That copper looks 100% pure and no slag.😀
Good melt Big D! It's funny to see how stuff "quenches" on different materials!
Those fan sent things were pretty darn good too! Shows just how popular your channel has become!
Have a good one brother.
You said it mate some of those pieces were pretty awesome I especially love the fifth element blocks. I just need to clean up the workshop shed a bit so I can put all these bits and pieces People sent me on display.
