Welcome back all you beautiful people, today a big haul from a heavy load switch my friend sent me. I also fix the smashed bar from last week with the addition of 3 kg of Copper. I hope you enjoy today's video so sit back relax take it easy and I'll see you all next Friday👋🏻😆
I’m sorry for whatever happened to the friend that used to recycle your steel. Maybe he moved or you guys fought or they aren’t continuing with their recycling… whatever happened I wanted you to know that people notice this stuff because we care ❤
Probably because recycled steel has tanked in price sooo much it is pretty worthless for all but megarefineries to process it. More and more countries are shutting down their blast furnaces (which can produce steel from ore) and changing them to arc furnaces (which can only produce recycled steel), as they run on electricity and not coal, so it helps them hit environmental targets. The result is the price of recycled steel has tanked, but virgin steel has shot up in price.
remember he moved .. so it might not be worth the time and fuel to come out and get it anymore.. short steel in the united states doesnt bring much per ton ..alot of times a ton doesnt even get you a tank of fuel of any kind for a vehicle...
If you want longer clips pointing inside the furnace without overheating the camera, you could try recording with a GoPro inside a fish tank. The water will act as a thermal buffer to protect the camera. Hyce was able to record inside the coal box of a steam engine by doing that.
27:46 my wife and I keep reptiles, she’s the expert and called that lizard a “shingleback” and said it’s a type of blue tongue skink, which are fairly common as pets here in the USA. The one we have (Bunny Lebowski, she’s a “northern” BTS) is my favorite lizard we have ever kept.
Great melt Big D! Those bars remelted from last week came up awesome! As I said before, it wouldn't be a BigstackD video without Ingot rubbing his junk on the rug! 😂😅 Have a great weekend mate. 🍺
You got that right! Thanks again buddy, appreciate anything going to the beer fund although I’m kind of regretting it right now as I didn’t get home till 2 o’clock this morning so my whole Saturday has been written off 🤦🏻♂️!
I love the copper bars you make from scrap. Its always the most beautiful to me just because its so important in electronics in general and energy transmission and reception of all kinds. From the Television to the cameras used to make this, to the computer used to edit it, to the entire power grid responsible for giving the entire country power and even the generators making the energy. Its all amazing and possible because of copper. It's 100% my personal favorite semi precious metal, and its got incredibly beautiful crystal oxide forms like Malachite and Azurite. I think Velvet Azurite is an amazing gemstone if you can even find one. Cooper is a great metal. Thanks for all the years and all the massive copper pours. Cheers M8. Wish you nothing but the best from here in NY, USA.
There is one thing i want to ask for a long time. Did you ever tried to cast a bar under flame? Basicly a big weed burner (or two-three smaller ones) directed to the mold so it is in a constant red hot state before casting the copper. Then the flames stay on till the copper "cools" down to the flame temperature. This is a way to reduce cooling seams and the little air pockets on the underside of the bars and it can produce cleaner surfaces with reduced wrinkels on top. Happy Casting from Germany;)
That is sorta like annealing, a process used on some alloys and glass to make them less brittle. It changes the crystalline structure of the material. Good idea to try, if for no other reason but experimentation.
Never ever heard of that brand in my life, I checked at my Local beer shop and they actually have it so I’ll grab a few when I’m in there for my resupply next week. And thanks again my friend I really do appreciate any beer donation contributions. Have an awesome weekend my friend and I will speak with you soon👊🏻😁

I find these videos strangely mesmerising, relaxing and calming... even though I have not intention of smelting anything; though I would love a "retired" crucible ~ they are soo cool!
When I saw the little Bullion in your old video, I realized that it is the most beautiful dog in the world. Now I also have a little "monkey" running around the house.
There is so much going on over the two last videos, I am overwhelmed with joy!!! The Al/Cu bar from last week is one of the most beautiful metal alloy bars I've seen. The color, the texture, and the bar resting position after solidifying. Wow!~ Today we are rewarded with the collaboration of one of the subs and another different alloy of Bronze Al. Most often we have Cu, Brass, Al. It seems Mr BigStackd does not like Lead bars, the few times I saw he set them aside. Zinc is very rare to see, once a year perhaps. Something like 7 years ago in one episode he melted Cu/Ni, and the same year he made something with iron alloyed with something. I need to find those episodes. The larger mold used today is by far my favorite. For me, it gives a special charm to the bars. Those Cu spacers were awesome by themselves, the e sizes. The two larger ones drove me crazy as they were. I still do not think there is metal prettier than Cu, and today we had the spacers and their transformation into wonderful bars. So the 50/50 CuAl bars, the Al Bronze, and the Cu bars are so beautiful and the size they were made gave an extra touch. Lastly, I wonder why it is not common to have other metals from sources like local junkyards. I make a couple per month for my collection, in my case I go to tire shops, and triffid stores to get lead, zinc, pewter, and armetale. I began just melting whatever so I have a half dozen of random junk bars. Cuprous-Nickel is possibly at the top of the alloys I like for appearance. I grabbed a Kg of coins to make me one bar. Since I am not skilled, it was not easy since I have a generic backyard forge. But then I gave the shine to the bar and it is spectacular. Wonder if someday Mr BigstackD will find some Nickel to melt? It is not common because it is more expensive, correct?
Like we could give a thumbs down on this. It is the enjoyment of melting metals with out all the heat and sweat. It is practically a lullaby with dogs thrown in. Now I want to go to the garage and start disassembling things. 👍😃

My friend a little advice from distant Greece, when you fry meat, try rubbing it with extra virgin olive oil, don't use anything else until it's done, then you add salt and pepper and marjoram, not beforehand, because the meat will be bitter Take a small 500ml water bottle, make a hole in the lid, and every time you put the fire under the grill, put it out with the bottle. Don't let the meat burn, don't let the meat turn black, try chopping the pork into small pieces on a skewer on a charcoal grill, you will be amazed at how good it tastes Many greetings from Greece

Don't know if you ever tried it as I never seen it in your videos over the years but when I re coat my furnace before it the coating goes off I put cling film over the furnace top then close the lit and let it set for a day.
