    Thanks to JMSSAWS for the idea, this is how I split a husqvarna 394xp chassis without using a case splitting tool. heat and a rubber mallet are good enough! next time I'll try removing the seals first, then heating the inner race of the bearing, and then hit it, and see if the bearing stays in the case, and the crank fall out of the bearing. .... there's always next time :)

    I really appreciate this video. Split the case today. It was really quite easy. Your videos are helping me do a rebuild and save my saw. I have never attempted anything like this before and your videos make it possible for me to do the rebuild.

    Worked like a charm on Husqvarna power saw, thanks!

    Yup! heat worked well and a small puller did the trick for removing the bearings!

    the first half of the video is definitely a plus for you. And in order to remove the bearings from the crankshaft do not have to use such expensive pullers. Do this: rest the end of the crankshaft in something elastic (wooden block is best) and beat out the bearing through the outer cage with a punch. and if still warm to the fact that burner that you have, he will drop from the crankshaft)))

      Илья мамонов I've tried removing bearings like that...hasn't worked. ...I guess I can try again though....the puller was not expensive....40$ or so.

    Thank you so much. God I was so disapointed that I had to have a special tool for this... thanks for showing an alternative. I used a heatgun and that worked perfectly!

      Unfortunately the downside to doing it like this is that you then need a bearing puller to get the bearings off the crank please see my latest video that I did last night and you will see what I'm talking about best of luck and thanks for the comment

      @@matthewolson8875 Yeah, it happend to me. I really just wanted to disassemble to learn/clean so do you think its possible to just push back the crankshaft with the bearing in the other half again? With the help of all the bolt that should be possible, right?

      @@robinadahl7841 please don't do that. lateral pressure is not something bearings like. i've developed tools to do this correctly, lots of 394 vids on this with me using the tools. also, when things are apart, I wouldn't think twice about replacing the bearings. just do it. its not worth it to not replace them. get everything clean, put the bearings in the pockets in proper position, THEN put the crank in the bearings. if you want to use the hot/cold method to do this then thats fine, but I stopped doing that long ago because I developed tools that make it way easier and less risky to the bearings and crank. i've got lots of vids on this, live vids and bolt for bolt stuff that'll show it. have a look at what i've done, take notes, then come back and ask questions :)

    250 degrees is good...save you paint and use a real heat gun if you care about your case. Your bearing puller is too large for the job at hand. Right sized puller will require no modification.

    • @matthewolson8875
      @matthewolson8875  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree ... I don't have a heat gun and I usually do this a bit different today. The bearing puller is a bit big bit it's what I have and the issue always is grabbing the bearing. It's so tight that the puller needs to be sharp instead of blunt.

    Try using a heat gun. About to 400 degrees.

    • @matthewolson8875
      @matthewolson8875  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heat guns can work too but take longer. ..I rarely split cases with just heat. I usually use my husky case splitter. The downside to using heat is that you'll often need to pull the bearings off the crank with a bearing puller. With the clamp style splitter the bearings usually stay in the case and then u can pop those out with heat or pull them cold. Either way works fine
