    Up today is a video for upgrading the husqvarna 350 (340, 345, 346xp) family of saws to a better clutch cover. The 455 rancher comes with a clutch cover that actually fits this saw, so why not add it? cause its pricey is why... but if ya can handle the $$, then go for it! Its a better setup and a nice addition to the 350.
    If you want the clutch drive / spline / rim drive setup, then 108215 is the part # for the oregon clutch drum with I believe a small spline. This will indeed fit in the oil pump worm gear, though it isn't an ideal fit. Works fine for me. Two upgrades in one vid! Enjoy!

    Just found this video, have to get the rim drive setup. Believe it or not I did get the bellows clamp back on with a fight and a half. I did take off the rope pull assy and also that plastic deflector piece to make it half way doable ...

    Very nice vid.
    I have a 350 ported and with the same mods. It is by far my favorite 45 - 50 cc class saw.

    My 350 has been reliable since installing the metal intake clamp but it's broken 2 muffler support brackets when the muffler has worked its bolts loose.

      The bolts coming loose is a common issue for sure. I've considered tack welding mine lol

    Inside the clutch cover is a black plastic piece that holds the tensioner spring in place. What is the size of the screws that hold the black cover in place. Part No. 503217010.

    I just picked up nice looking /running 04' 350 for 150.00. Been cutting fine but it has that plastic clamp on the intake. Is that a given that it will fail under limited use? I'm a fan of "if it ain't broke, don't break it" and probably would tearing it all down like that.

    • @matthewolson8875
      @matthewolson8875  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      well, the answer is yes... that is a part that will fail. if it hasn't failed by now, you are for sure on borrowed time. the problem with husky 350's is that although $150 seems like a good deal, its still about $100 too much. imho, if the plastic clamp is there, it does need a full teardown to avoid a meltdown. your call if you want to risk it though.

      @@curtismuma1931 nice. It depends on the brand of socket. Measure between the clutch springs. Need a size that fit that as an outer diameter (not the actual socket size)

    Any info on changing the 350 from .325 pitch to 3/8 pitch? Does the pinion gear engage with a 3/8" sprocket drum or rim drum? I want to change so my other 3/8 pitch saw chains will fit.

    • @matthewolson8875
      @matthewolson8875  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rim drum doesn't quite fit on the oiler worm...but it does work even though it's not an exact fit.

    • @magicone9327
      @magicone9327 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matthew Olson thanks, both .325 and 3/8 have a 7 lug engagement but wasn't sure if changing to the 3/8 if it's 7 lugs were of the same width as they socket into the pinion.

    So you just changed out the sprocket? You didnt have to change out the oiler pinion? I have a 350 i want to upgrade to a rim sprocket.

    • @matthewolson8875
      @matthewolson8875  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The oiler pinion doesn't need to be changed out. The rim drive drum is a sloppy fit to the pinion but it still works. There really isn't a much better solution.

    • @matthewolson8875

      No....gets tight hand tight....the torque of the motor tightens it.

    • @magicone9327
      @magicone9327 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matthew Olson that's what I thought, but I just did mine Hand tight. Fired it up without cover off Reved it a couple times and the clutch came off, then the drum followed and then the bearing flew into the weeds. Found everything but the bearing lost two needles. The only thing I can think of that made it do this was to much grease on the drum bearing and it migrated to the clutch/drum interface. I really don't know.

      @@magicone9327 I know this is an old thread but I just went through this on a couple saws. If you put the clutch on hand tight, then get the saw running without reving it up much (get it to idle and leave it for a few) then rev it to WOT after it has warmed a little without backing off and keep it there for say 20 seconds and then back down off the trigger slowly it seems to stay on for me. Your mileage will probably vary but it worked twice in a row the other day after I launched one by backing off the throttle to soon or to sharply...
