    There’s a reason the History Channel has produced hundreds of documentaries about Hitler but only a few about Dwight D. Eisenhower. Bad guys (and gals) are eternally fascinating. Behind the Bastards dives in past the Cliffs Notes of the worst humans in history and exposes the bizarre realities of their lives. Listeners will learn about the young adult novels that helped Hitler form his monstrous ideology, the founder of Blackwater’s insane quest to build his own Air Force, the bizarre lives of the sons and daughters of dictators and Saddam Hussein’s side career as a trashy romance novelist.
    New episodes twice a week on iHeartRadio.

      Henry wakes up. He looks around. He reaches for his attaché case. It isn’t there. He realizes he is completely naked and unarmed. Surrounding him are twenty million grinning Cambodians with pointy sticks. A spokesperson comes up and says, “Ready to prolong a conflict with Southeast Asia?”

    flag on the play - i was an industrial design student in 07, and "medical thing that messages doctor" was in every third damn portfolio. It's hardly a galaxy brain thought. The difference here is that this kid was rich and connected enough for a prof to consider the concept.

    Please don't drop out of college, people. Education is good. This country needs educated people. Unless you're real good at self-learning, consider at least taking some general ed classes at a community college. The only problem with college education is that we charge way too much for it in this country, and community college at least is cheap

      Depends on if you consider around 20 grand for a two year program cheap.

      @@DaBoweh if you're including room and board maybe (which to be fair is a real problem if you can't stay with family). That's far more expensive than my state college tuition otherwise. And if you're eligible for grants like me (i.e. you're poor), tuition can be basically free. At least in my state, the federal plus the state grants are enough to cover the full cost of tuition plus some extra bonus money. I did still have a part time job to cover other costs though

      @@Daedalus117 I'm not. My local a decade ago in NH was ~$900 per course not including books and that was a decade ago. Congrats, you got into some programs where you didn't have to pay for it, but that doesn't make it 'cheap' in general.

    • @Daedalus117
      @Daedalus117 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DaBoweh it was $500 per course a few years ago at my college. Twice as much for 3rd and 4th year courses. Much more affordable than the big state universities. Vastly more than we should have to pay, though... Don't get me wrong, the state of education in this country sucks, and the existence of options that only leave you with 20k in loans instead of 100k doesn't change that.
      None of this changes the importance of getting a broad education, which does make it worse that the powers that be are trying to keep it out of reach of most people

    Also about Woz and the $5,000, he said the thing that hurt him the most about the money was not that he didn't get paid fully, but that he didn't need the money and would have happily let Jobs have 100% if he'd asked.

    If you had misophonia, it’s not the smallest problem in the world. It’s a neurological disorder that society doesn’t believe exists, so suffers get dismissed as pissy. If you get lots of comments about it, consider maybe not eating during a recording?

    • @bln8285
      @bln8285 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +41

      i wouldn't call my misophonia the biggest problem i have. it isn't even the biggest neurological problem i have! but it DOES make me unsub if i keep having to listen to the presenter eating, burping, or lipsmacking on air, because online is my easiest space to curate.
      it might help to know that the misophonics who complain are doing so because they like you and they don't want to unsub.

      Also, if what someone is doing is 100% audio, you'd think that doing something that negatively impacts audio would be an actual concern
      It's like saying "yeah, I'm going to keep bumping the mike with my elbow and blowing out the audio, deal with it you BABIES" instead of just...not?

      If I had an issue that caused me to freak out with certain mouth sounds I would probably just avoid podcasts entirely as a personal rule and stick to ebooks and other things instead of putting requests on content creators 4 years after something has been recorded but that’s just me.

      I get it. But, to be fair, it is a pretty simple ask to ask someone to pretty-please mute the mic when eating, especially if it means making this podcast more accessible to people. And who knows? Maybe Sophie or Robert might see the comment? No harm. This is a dope ass podcast that I hope as many people as possible listen to as possible, not only because it is funny and entertaining, but also because it really teaches some damned important stuff. Let's just all be nice to each other, yeah? :)

    It's true that having someone eat on a podcast isn't the biggest problem in the world; it just means that I can never listen to that podcast and have to skip it. It's really not something you can power through if you have misophonia, it makes it completely inaccessible. At the same time though, if you want to do it anyway that's your choice, you don't have to accommodate everyone.

Always some reason it's a man fault or at least partly a man's fault.
