- My 1997 Volvo 850 T-5 was abandoned for years! In this video, I'll show you how I power-washed away a decade of dirt, moss, and algae. This Volvo 850 wagon rebuild is going to be amazing, but we have to start with a clean slate. You can't imagine how much better she looks after the Volvo 850 T-5 restoration begins!

Imagine what's under the dash. And under the seat cushions. And under the back seat. And in the trunk. And in the headliner. And in the vents. And in the glove box. And crawling up your leg when you get in. Just think of it. LOL
I think Mike will get it running and he will like it better than the mercedes that he seems to prefer. haha
My aunt uncle had a Volvo I don’t remember the model, but it was basically that thing and it was a freaking tank and we go through the winters like you wouldn’t believe but I can tell you is they are worth trying to fix up

For Christ's sake man, stop fluffing around with the brush under the hood and get the power washer onto it. Damn you're annoying as U age.
Pressure washers are just great tools! They can do amazing things. When I washed my 850's engine, I found the water easily got into the spark plug wells under the bolt on cover. I used a shop vac, and then compressed air to dry the area out, so that the car would run again.

I've always loved Volvos, and I believe you got a good'n Mikey. I'm sure you'll have plenty of work ahead of you, but you're going to fall in love with it, I'm sure! They're indestructible tanks, and you'll love the feeling of being a little higher up off the roadway. If you got the rat wagon to work after all the rewiring you did, I'm positive you'll get this up and purring like a brick kitten, maybe more like an armor clad kitten.
You don't see very many of the turbo bricks on the road. Definitely a keeper

Ahh the mighty 20 valve volvo a magnificent 5 pot engine had some cooling problems but with a decent intercooler and piping they go very well

After seeing that OEM Volvo air filter that looked good, my guess is that this will run surprisingly well.

Nice 😎 cleaned up well especially the engine bay. Keep an eye out for a second mouse there's normally more than 1 . You will love the 5 cylinder engine sound my 2004 C70 t collection sounds amazing when you put your foot down on the gas pedal

The old 850's and V70's were a close 2nd to the W123 chassis Mercedes. Built like a tank and would run forever. The turbo had decent power for the time. The inlaws had a '93 850 sedan, N/A, that was awesome. Drove great, little short on power, but lasted them over 20 years. You're going to enjoy that wagon. Sure hope it runs and drives for you. They're pretty fantastic cars. Can't wait to see it resurrected.

Don't worry about power washing the interior. I did it several times when I was a taxi driver (W124) in Germany in the early 90s. If the passengers couldn't handle the amount of alcohol they had, I had to clean it quickly to get back to business. A towel, heating on maximum and 20 minutes of cruising with the windows open is all you need

My uncle used to have one of those (can't remember the exact model, but looks just the same), and he ADORED that car. You, good sir, are one helluvah TH-camr. When I had my 98 328i convertible. I had to keep it in the garage for a while until I could get a new top since the old one got slashed. It was in there a week and a damn mouse made a home under the hood and in the glove box. I was like...wtf!? So glad I caught it when I did. And I'm not a Volvo fan, sept for the c30 hatchback. But if you like it. Save it. Screw what we think. I'm sure folks will watch either way.

That is a really fast car. The paint will buff out. Remounting the tire will probably fix it. This volvo was a Police car in Europe and the Netherlands. That 5 cilinder is very very fast engine.

A little bit of info, the T5 was a favourite for the boys in blue over here in the UK because they were so good. Believe me Mike if you can sort out Mickey's wiring leftovers it will fire up no probs, and it will make you think twice about the Mercs the ride is second to none. Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧

Mike, I love watching your videos because of your attitude in these. I have a 1995 Mercedes E320 and they are expensive to have them repaired by a repair shop. I had no choice as we had a garage fire that I could not do the repairs myself. Keep up the entertaining content.

Mike, you could call it the Viking Wagon. I don't think that it will start up right at first, until you fix the chewed up wires and hoses. You don't have sense enough to know that it is a lost cause, so I think that you WILL get it running and driving.

I think you have found a real rare beauty. I 'm sure you want to know if the engine runs and when you do run the engine use fresh gas. First thing I would do is drop the gas tank and replace the fuel pump and make sure the tank is clean and useable. The conventional way to replace the fuel pump is to remove the floor behind the rear seat and replace the pump. Good luck I have owned an 850 naturally aspirated version they are great cars.
Every volvo will run. I bouht a 740 turbo. After 6 years of parking it started. And lived a nother day
