Rudy your engineering design and fabrication skills are top-notch, you never cease to amaze. That sump redesign is something in itself let alone the chassis for the car. Welding cast alloy is a bugger and all, especially when you are sending it to plate. I'm seriously impressed with your abilities. Oh, and put a ring on that lass ASAP, she's a keeper and you make a great team.
That was my next post . Janelle is a professional career lady, but will still get her hands dirty. A Keeper for sure! PS. Rudy and Janelle look cute together
I love that she works on vehicles with Rudy. She amazes me with what she can do. We need more videos her helping Rudy at the shop and in doing other things they do.
@carykennedy9467 Rudy, if you're as smart as you are designing vehicles, you better put a ring on Janelle finger. She's by your side working with not watching you she gets her hand dirty doing great work.
As Dan Gryder Dtsb seems to be an expert on DB Cooper I think in honour of Dan (he’s a bit beaten up at the moment after his crash landing a month or so ago ) I think it should be called the Dune Gryder. Dan tries his utmost to save people’s lives in general aviation and is much maligned over it for telling the truth ? Note : I do not know Dan I only watch his TH-cam channel . Great work Rudy
Don't do three. I rear mounted my radiator, ahead of the fuel cell and around town, everything was good. A long trail ride and i vapor locked the tank as it was super heated by the radiator. I had to reposition the radiator higher and build some "ducting" with insulation to keep the heat from the tank. More info on my channel if you want a better look. Nice build Rudy!
As others have commented, thanks for turning that gorgeous rattlesnake loose in the back forty. He's got a job to do. I bet you won't have any mouse mechanics doing unauthorized shop work with him on duty. Kudos! Great build! I'm loving it.
some of the best seat of the pants design and engineering work i've ever seen!! also a big hats off for not killing the rattle snake just for being a rattlesnake!
Side mount the two fuel cells, one on each side behind the driver and passenger and mount the radiator as far back as possible angled forward at the top with electric fans and an air duct to get clean air. That way you retain some storage space between the cells and in front of the radiator.
Thanks for not killing the snake. As a former farmer, we respect the benefits of a snake around. They eat a lot of rats and mice. Agree, you don't want a rattlesnake around the shop, but they still do a lot of good out in the wilderness.
Rudy, you constantly impress me with ability to fabricate stuff, this is going to be an awesome build.... and, you are the top of the list in the Votes.... by twice :)
Rudy, It’s NEVER OVER BUILT if you make the Trails you Intend on Completing. If it Doesn’t get Stuck or Broken… Wonderful Build, just as Your Brothers Truck. Keep up the Great Work on Your Awesome Channel.. Be Kind to Yourself..😎👍✅👏
Just to keep you from getting heat in the comments, Mini Cooper is owned by BMW not Mercedes. As far as OnX challenge vehicles go this one is my favorite. I like the direction you're going with it. keep on keepin' on.
Love the build I think it would be cool if you could put the back hach with glass on the back of the roof. It would be great dry storage when on the trail like a trunk. With your radiator and fuel outside behind the cab.
Doomsday diesel has every adapter you need. Awesome customer support and all the kits are beautiful amd fit perfect. Diesel pump UK for performance parts. I know it's probably to late since all this was previously filmed. Awesome build and good luck.
I'm only 6 minutes in and I feel I had to stop and applaud J's technique while lifting and lowering that transmission. I've had lower back surgery and count myself lucky that it was successful. Better to protect your back with good form. Carry on...
Name: D.B. OVERKILL. Got it from your title. It’s amazing to watch you and Zak work this out; always exciting to see a (seat of the pants) designs assembled from scraps. Really curious about the the rim mod. So, spend a bit more time filming the bead-locker adaptation and warpage control on those steel rims. Nevertheless, It’s gonna be cool looking when finished.
Straps break . At least it was not a $50k motor. And Rudy you know a guy that has been book learned on welding. Maybe he can help out some . You did build him a sweet truck ✓
Rudy I like the name King Coop definitely one of a kind. I think option 4 for the vertical tank is the best idea so you can have some storage space that you will definitely need.
I love that you didn’t kill the rattle snake! My boys and I have been on a snake kick this summer and I’ve been teaching them that relocating is always better than killing a snake.
While that is a noble thought, in most states it's illegal to relocate animals - fish- birds. I surely wouldn't want to be in camera doing it. If you are familiar with the term bucket biologist or any of the other examples of non native species taking over you will fully understand why it shouldn't be done. Yes I know it's probably not that far from where he found it. I'm wondering why they didn't film it being caught 😂
If you're using the MB transmission, it's critical that the vacuum VCV or "bleed off valve" on the back end of the injection pump is hooked up and working. Without vacuum the transmission will not shift properly. Be careful with the valve, they're no longer available new.
Rudy I’m shaking my head on why mischief maker is running second place so far and you should be first or second or top three. C’mon my lovelies vote for Rudy 👍🏼
Rudy the creative motor vehicle engineer! Its very enjoyable and super interesting to watch you build the "RockKing Cooper". Thank You for sharing the journey.
@Rudys Adventure and Design Rudy thanks for not killing the snake. this is a good thing you have done for the snake world...i have this day gained much more respect for you as a good-hearted person ...keep up the good work bro
Janelle, shop stew looks great. King Coop is definitely a unique build. Ya’ll should get extra points for taking what is known as go-kart on the streets and making it into a monster crawler. Opposite ends of the auto spectrum.
Rudy your r very talented fabricator. I am very aware of your passion being that I’m a 50 yr veteran of welding and fabrication. Continue your you tube channel
Great job Rudy and Janelle!! This project has taken on its own destiny!! Loving the progress and the look so far. You are truly a unique and talented team!!!
So proud of you for not killing the rattlesnake! I don't think they're in endangered species, but they do so much good wherever they go in or not much of a danger. Love the video, love the car it's gonna be awesome!
Nice build, the King Cooper! That rattlesnake keeps the mice and rats away! Shop-stew looks delicious! Purple wouldn't be my first choice, but, hey, if you are happy with it, why not purple... 😂 Greets from Germany! ❤️
Your one of the best off road builder I think your better than your dad I don't know jeep an who... Your just like Trail Meter is #1 off road recovery ever.. thank you all I learn a lot just frm.watxhing y'all TH-cam channel God Blessed..😊
Option 3 has the radiator vertical - which means the filler would work normally. Horizontal and you're going to have to make an adapter or something. Even angled would be ok. Option 3 is pulling air away from you and venting out the back, right? Not blowing hot air into you... Will it be heating the fuel tank then? I'd look at some kind of angled arrangement leaning in - top tilted forward, air blowing through from bottom to top, with the tank behind it and out of the airflow. You can put something over the tank to protect it and put gear on top of it - recovery ropes etc.
My wife's 2011 Mini has wheels that are pretty much the same candy purple and some other accents in probably the exact same vinyl! 🤣It is the proper color to use! The build is really coming along nicely. This reminds me a lot of Nate Pickel's Samurai build. Compact and light, but very capable! Some of the other builds are going to have some issues if the trails get too tight or the rocks too big.
I love looks fast, I have to comment, but it's not half fast! Nice build. I have been building for more than 50 years and you are doing a well thought out machine 👍
Thank you for releasing it. I was worried you might have killed it. You're so cool Rudy! So cool. It was fat. Been eating shop rats! Keeps em from effin up your cars
Another great video as always! One suggestion I have would be to keep a camera or 2 up in a corner always recording. That way you can capture the crazy stuff like the strap breaking and engine falling, and you have some backup audio for those glitches.
Lay the radiator down with air blowing towards the ground, then fuel tank above with enough room for airflow. Also make sure you have some kind of shielding between radiator hoses and the passenger compartment. In the early days of Cleetus doing burnout competitions, a guy’s radiator exploded from overheating and severely burned him. You run in the desert where it gets unGodly hot already.
I think the mini cooper is so cool. I would like to see some under body lighting to it to high light the extensive work that has gone into this build, great job. Also I was a little concerned with the cross member that you installed under the oil pan before the oil pan was finished. But I’m just an old observer. Again you’re doing great work.
Why does his education have to be a point of interest? I’m 40 and last year got my GED, doesn’t mean I can’t take an old rusted rig and get it running. Doesn’t mean I can’t make a mean ass home made lasagna. Doesn’t mean I can’t operate almost any wheeled or track drive unit. Doesn’t mean I can’t frame half million dollar and more homes…. The 'welding rod to get the profile' trick comes from Ian Rousell, or that's where I've seen it, anyway.... Ditto the comments about Janelle, she's a lovely young lady and a nice change to the hard edge of the shop, more of her please!
Add that rattler to the shop stew and you'll have leftovers for another day or to feed guests. Just tell them it was Free Range Chicken if they ask.😉 BTW: Shop stew is better when cooked in a gallon tin can over a slightly carbonizing welding torch. You can also use a disposable aluminum pie pan that's not perforated for smaller batches of stew but you have to be more careful not to burn through the aluminum foil pan. Best!
Janelle has really gained confidence in front of camera in a short time, she is a natural.
I agree with that. They both have came a long way in a short time. Rudy is a pretty impressive fabricator. I think they are a good couple.
You better keep Janelle around, she feeds you and works right alongside of you! Just sayin'
That was my next post . Janelle is a professional career lady, but will still get her hands dirty. A Keeper for sure! PS. Rudy and Janelle look cute together

Before you do the reveal of the mini Cooper, I would name it D.B. Cooper because of all the money put into it.
He has a budget! It's a budget build competition against other You tubers.
Nice idea! Especially with the labor considered
The money you’ll never find?
I think it looks more like a Sheldon Cooper to me considering all the science and numbers and math put into it!!! Iykyk.... lol
As Dan Gryder Dtsb seems to be an expert on DB Cooper I think in honour of Dan (he’s a bit beaten up at the moment after his crash landing a month or so ago ) I think it should be called the Dune Gryder. That nut didn't fall far from the MORR tree! Great work. Imagineering is better than engineering, sometimes.
Imagineering is the human superpower. Everyone has it, but not everyone knows how to use it. ❤
Don't do three. I rear mounted my radiator, ahead of the fuel cell and around town, everything was good. A long trail ride and i vapor locked the tank as it was super heated by the radiator. Very good point on vapor lock
thanks for mentioning this, superheating the tank that was my first concern. especially in the climate Rudy lives and wheels in
Not bad for a hobbyist ? LOL. that oil pan mod is the coolest thing I’ve watched you do. Amazing vision
FYI.. shop stew is literally, the BEST stew!!! Hearty, wholesome, delicious, healthy and made with LOVE!
Amen!
Especially with rattlesnake meat in it!
Out of all the on X builds, yours is by far the most interesting to watch. Original loving it
Impressed with Janelle. Not only is she knowledgeable, she is so natural in front of the camera. Really makes it enjoyable to watch.
As others have commented, thanks for turning that gorgeous rattlesnake loose in the back forty. He's got a job to do. I bet you won't have any mouse mechanics doing unauthorized shop work with him on duty. Kudos!
Great build! I'm loving it.
Janelle is such a TOTAL keeper.
You are one lucky dude Rudy!
I scratched my head when you announced the name of the mini.
Janelle is great on camera. A natural.
Rudy, rattlesnake is some of the best eatens youl ever have in your life. Even better than frog legs and gator tail!!!
Moving an oil pan was something I never thought I would see done on this channel. Strong work.
Sounds like a good T-Shirt "On the 8th day God said 'Let there be race-car.'"
some of the best seat of the pants design and engineering work i've ever seen!! also a big hats off for not killing the rattle snake just for being a rattlesnake!

Love how the Mini Cooper build is coming along. King Cooper for the win. 🥇
Liked for catch and release of the rattler! Good man. Builds coming a long real nicely!
Thanks for not killing the snake. As a former farmer, we respect the benefits of a snake around. They eat a lot of rats and mice. Agree, you don't want a rattlesnake around the shop, but they still do a lot of good out in the wilderness.
Eat it. Clean it, wrap it in foil stuff it full of garlic and butter. Slap it on the grill. They taste great. Kinda tedious but worth it.
This OnXOffroad challenge has to be the best, I’ve never seen such a variety of crazy custom built rigs.
Rudy, you constantly impress me with ability to fabricate stuff, this is going to be an awesome build.... and, you are the top of the list in the Votes.... by twice :)
Rudy, It’s NEVER OVER BUILT if you make the Trails you Intend on Completing.

Wonderful Build, just as Your Brothers Truck.

motor and transmission is out of a Mercedes donor though, I think that's why he's saying Mercedes

I am completely impressed with your design and fabrication skills. The attention to detail and creativity is incredible.
I love that you didn’t kill the rattle snake! My boys and I have been on a snake kick this summer and I’ve been teaching them that relocating is always better than killing a snake.

Easily one of the best build series I've watched on YT. 👍

Thanks for showing the details of the build and explaining why, seems to be a family trait!
That's impressive Rudy!
That oil pan modification is next level. Amazing stuff, thank you for sharing the progress
I'd like to see a roof air scoop like a P-51 upside down to feed the radiator . Keep the heat out of the cockpit.
Rudy I’m shaking my head on why mischief maker is running second place so far and you should be first or second or top three. C’mon my lovelies vote for Rudy 👍🏼
Nice work. My pops always said “just build it to fit”. I love your intuition and willingness to use common sense!
Damn that sucks..... stressful day of shop recovery.... pushing against deadlines... an amazing and unique build.... shop is smokin'
How Rudy can think of something and so easily make it into something is awesome. Master of his craft.
Absolutely loving this build thread, you have some serious talents Rudy. Well done fella.
Rudy the creative motor vehicle engineer! Its very enjoyable and super interesting to watch you build the "RockKing Cooper". Thank You for sharing the journey.
Nice to see you with Dad. Like old times. He is so proud ok his children. God bless you and your families Aloha and amen
@Rudys Adventure and Design Rudy thanks for not killing the snake. this is a good thing you have done for the snake world...i have this day gained much more respect for you as a good-hearted person ...keep up the good work bro
Rudy so glad you moved the Rattle Snake. They have value and you got Big Points! Good for You!
Janelle, shop stew looks great.
King Coop is definitely a unique build. Ya’ll should get extra points for taking what is known as go-kart on the streets and making it into a monster crawler. Opposite ends of the auto spectrum.
My hubby really enjoys your videos & the things you build. I enjoy them too.
Rudy, you are a great designer like your dad. You've learned more about auto engineering by doing than most do college.
Its coming along real well and the King Cooper is a good name. Thanks for the video.
Cooper trooper
Oh dear, butter fingers, clumsy. Can't wait to see how COOOPER-CAR turns out!
Good to see Janelle, she did a pretty good job of throwing bead locks. 👍
making progress and good to see Janelle in the shop.
Rudy, you are an amazing Fabricator! I am just absolutely blown away by your work
Rudy your r very talented fabricator. I am very aware of your passion being that I’m a 50 yr veteran of welding and fabrication. Continue your you tube channel
Out of the 3, 2 looks the nicest. Good job you all. Thank you
Great job Rudy and Janelle!! This project has taken on its own destiny!! Loving the progress and the look so far. You are truly a unique and talented team!!!
Nice to see Janelle in the shop helping. She adds some fun to the channel. Keep up the good work team.
That's unreal. Phenomenal. I could not envision where you were going with the build. Super impressive!
Much respect for not killing the snake.
Nice tube work on the rear frame.
So proud of you for not killing the rattlesnake! I don't think they're in endangered species, but they do so much good wherever they go in or not much of a danger. Love the video, love the car it's gonna be awesome!
All the builds are cool this round. The "Many Cooper" is looking good.
Nice build, the King Cooper! That rattlesnake keeps the mice and rats away! Shop-stew looks delicious! Purple wouldn't be my first choice, but, hey, if you are happy with it, why not purple... 😂

Your just like Trail Meter is #1 off road recovery ever.. thank you all I learn a lot just frm.watxhing y'all TH-cam channel God Blessed..😊
Pretty cool oil pan fix. I hope it works out after all that cutting and welding. I like option #4.
Amazing creative work on the coop....Janelle is a great help for you and good cam work.
Add the Rattlesnake to your "Shop Stew" - more protein! That was pretty kool catching and releasing the Rattler!
Option 3 has the radiator vertical - which means the filler would work normally. Horizontal and you're going to have to make an adapter or something. Even angled would be ok. Now Rudy that was funny liking the build chip off the old block I'd say you're doing awesome God bless
I love you, girl. She’s a trooper.
Props for relocating the snake!!
I think king cooper sounds great. Keep up the good work I really like that vehicle. Thank you for not killing the snake.
Awesome work as always. Great seeing Janelle today 😍
Ayy!! I suggested "King Cooper" last video! Idk if you heard it from me or not, but I love it!
I love the kazoo and confetti 😂

GO VOTE FOR RUDY!!!!!!!!
I would but can't find the place to vote.

You should get together with Grind hard plumbing
And have a mini challenge
The mini is looking amazing and cool , how many of you are wondering how did Rudy catch the rattlesnake and how many of us would have killed it ?
I only catch rattlesnakes with my 12 gage rattlesnake mobile hole puncher.
I love looks fast, I have to comment, but it's not half fast! Nice build. I have been building for more than 50 years and you are doing a well thought out machine 👍
This thing is turning out so killer! Can’t wait to see the test runs on it! Your fab skills are inspiring. Keep it up man!

fab and cook ?? dang!!
yep, Rudy she may well be a keeper for sure. you may want to get Jenelle some ring finger bling, just saying.
That was a standard go no go 2X4 gauge it worked great!!!! build is coming along, keep up the good work!
Rudy, I don’t know your education background but Im impressed buddy, that thing is goin to be a beast, you’re best work yet 👍🏻
