My second day in North Korea. We started off at the DMZ (demilitarized zone) then we went back into Pyongyang. Another strange day in North Korea.

The Metro is so deep underground to function as a bunker in case of a war. The wagons once came from Berlin, Germany. The capital is so empty because only the elite north korean people (from the party or military) are allowed to life there..
Makes sense in Berlin the metro looks like that except that it goes overground 🚉

Hey Simon, in regards to the Pyongyang newspapers ~ I study Geography in final year at uni here in Ireland/Northern Ireland, I'd really appreciate a copy of the newspaper to show my uni class! We study conflict geographies in particular so it would be extremely relevant, keep up the good work Simon!

@@MK_2023. Ulster up in Coleraine, personally I don't regret the choice as we are much closer to beautiful coastal phenomena, we also get to go to Cyprus in 2nd year and Spain in final year, not sure Queen's offer that!

The interesting thing is that I've seen other tours in North Korea on youtube, and they are the same. The same places, the same hotel, the same presentation at the school, what is the point of that? What are they trying to show?
They don’t show the true Korea. The side they show is the staged side to make it look like a decent country when it’s really not

Nervous? You’re constantly protected by guides and under a watchful eye. There’s not a lot that can go wrong if you just follow the advice and instructions as you’re told lol
@@AngstRiddenAnnoyance I get what you're saying. I feel like I would be walking on eggshells though and constantly worried about letting something slip out that I shouldn't say. Or even gesturing in a way that I didn't realize was taboo or something. I'm very critical of North Korea in conversations with friends so I feel like I would inevitably say something they would consider horribly offensive without fully realizing it beforehand. Hence, nervous for me personally!
@@jeremylevy7801I totally agree with you I would be so nervous. Dubai makes me nervous and I just won’t go due to the corrupt state so the DPRK is a complete no go zone for me. That being said though I do find the DPRK fascinating. I do feel sorry for the people though with how they are brainwashed and forced to abide by the leader.

Man I've seen so many north Korean tours. It's so cool to see a different prospective that each traveler presents. Each tour I watch kinda focuses on something different even if it's the same exact tour as every other youtuber. It also seems like the minders were WAY more chill then other tours I've seen. But it's possible its because of the tour group. That guy did say he had been 70 times. I'm sure him knowing the customs and consistently being respectful goes along way with them. The guide in the white shirt seemed so much genuinely friendlier then any of the others I've seen. And I've watch probably every DPRK tour on TH-cam.
