Simon, as a syrian who’s been a fan of yours for a while, thank you for showing this side of Syria which reflects the kindness of the people in it. Hope you had a good time :)

It just proves the point, no matter where you are and what is happening around you, the person next to you is not having the same experience as you despite what you imagine.
Good point. I think it's their styles like Harold's are usually longer raw footage. Bald is similar and slower paced. Simon's are fast cut and fit more in. All are good in their own ways
Yeah, Simons is more real and shows the realties better. Bald's seemed edited a lot to cut out criticism of the Syrian government and spent most of it whining about 'western media' like usual. It was great to see Simon managed to show the different sides and views like how the people in Lebanon at the hotel quite clearly did not like the Syrian govt with talking about how 'too many' people go there.
It's insane to see the transformation of Simon Wilson videos from sneaking into events in the USA, backpacking across Australia, to now getting into Syria, going to North Korea, bushbashing in Ethiopia. Love your work mate!

This video is cheap marketing and a dirty propaganda claiming that Syria is fine. Syria is wounded, and it weeps for its two million sons killed by the criminal Syrian regime with explosive barrels. It weeps for the nine million displaced by the regime and for the seven hundred thousand turned into disabled individuals. Simon went to areas controlled by the regime and set up his checkpoints every 100 meters on the roads, yet he did not show them. This is filth beyond filth and a complete lack of humanity

I'm very glad that despite the previous conflict the Syrian people haven't lost their hospitality, warmth and generosity. Hopefully your video inspires many more people to explore the beautiful and historic country, so that they too can change their outlook.
That was fun. In 2009, I was touring around Europe with my family in a car. We went to Turkey, and then decided to keep going through Syria. The border was a little difficult, took us 2 days to pass through, but the people at the border were very friendly, they all wanted to drink tea with us. Once in Syria, it was very much the same, we were a little cautious (healthily so perhaps), but again, the people there welcomed us.

@@youtubebram4393 I meant that Damascus has more cultural, historical, religious sites than fun places. I've just discovered your channel around @ 3:30am. after seeing bald and bankrupt's video about Syria being recommended to me but read one of the comments that his videos may seem a little over the top and not raw which I really dislike about travel vloggers as I love seeing the reality and honest out of their videos and watched all the way through! Never knew how open-minded and friendly Syrians are as they seem like really hardworking people along being into soccer a lot which fascinates me. It really is scary how that man in the skeleton bandana didn't felt comfortable being on camera considering how you're in public anyway but so relieved you didn't got hurt as it blows my brain cells out of the window how there has to be security guards having AK47 guns as we wouldn't do something like this in the U.S.. You're so courageous to travel to the border Simon as I couldn't even imagine doing so from where I'm from here in Arizona if I have to travel to the Mexican border and seeing how dangerous Tijuana is because of the drug cartels. xD
Lebanon and Syria have the top 3 or top 4 oldest cities in the world between them, and are only getting less civilised year by year, both countries have a very huge potential to be top 10 tourism countries. Very unfortunate for me as a Lebanese living in the uk

I do find it strange that the streets are so clean. I would expect trash and crap everywhere just like mexico. Thats awesome the people take some pride in what they have to work with.
Syrians are generally obsessed with cleanliness
That is a very strange image you have in mind! Thank God for travel vlogs as they show the real face that is usually buried under stereotypes.
Been looking forward to this one since watching Bald’s video! Surprised they weren’t joined by Harald!
I'm only seeing this now and I want to go to Syria. Who knew!! You're doing a great job opening everybodys eyes that all is not as it seems. 🐉 ( That's a Welsh dragon 😆) Well done boys!!
Where is Harald? Did he freeze in Nepal? We need the trio back together!
I like Alenka the best.
Yes the 3 amigos ❤
He's busy in picking under aged girls from Ukrian
Thanks for the gorgeous video
And we hope to see you soon in Syria 🇸🇾 with love ❤️
Ooh, great to see you back on your travels!
Syria looks like it’s going to be real interesting.
Great vlog as usual! More please Simon!!👍😊👏👏👏
Hi Simon, I liked the video a lot, but I advise you to visit Latakia. As a Syrian, I do not like coming to Damascus more than spending time in Latakia. It is a very interesting city. Cafes, restaurants, mountain areas and the sea. Everything is beautiful in Latakia. The city of Latakia is one story and its countryside is another story. Also, its residents are more open. I hope that See you in Latakia❤️
YAY Simon’s back!
Great video - really enjoyed it! I had a very good time in Damascus, so hope you enjoyed it too. Beautiful old city and lovely people.

Top post, one of your best if not the best :)
I’m with you guys, every time I go to a “dangerous place” the people prove me wrong. Travel on boys, and show us the way.
Absolutely exceptional video with great diction !!!!Please ask for more practice tips‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

Greetings from Brooklyn NY 😎
Love the content you make mate keep it up 👍🏻
I've just discovered your channel around @ 3:30am. after seeing bald and bankrupt's video about Syria being recommended to me but read one of the comments that his videos may seem a little over the top and not raw which I really dislike about travel vloggers as I love seeing the reality and honest out of their videos and watched all the way through! You're so courageous to travel to the border Simon as I couldn't even imagine doing so from where I'm from here in Arizona if I have to travel to the Mexican border and seeing how dangerous Tijuana is because of the drug cartels. xD
You and Benjamin make some amazing videos.

Lebanon and Syria have the top 3 or top 4 oldest cities in the world between them, and are only getting less civilised year by year, both countries have a very huge potential to be top 10 tourism countries. Very unfortunate for me as a Lebanese living in the uk
Exactly imo we can easily compete the world with our cuisine too... sad what's happening to both our countries 😢
