    Hope you enjoy/ed! This was another creative fun idea for me, and I hope you found it interesting. I go in and out of true crime phases, and this time inspiration struck! Let me know other scenes or parts you think do well replicating real crime in your own comment and I’ll try to respond Aaaaaahhhhh

    It is interesting how Light makes himself innocent so he can manipulate himself. It means he understands his pattern of behavior enough to realize Kira's complexes are slighty different then Light's are. He apparently knows L is his mirror and that L would detect his lacK of innocent so Light turns himself into Kira's chess piece. It is rather smart.

    i wonder what would have happened if L just straight up killed light without any evidence and then the murders stopped. like. the whole anime is centered around L trying to PROVE to others that light is kira but deep down he knew that he was. he could have taken the risk of losing someone equally as smart as him and killed light and that would have been it.

    • @marvelsandals4228
      @marvelsandals4228 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Well, for one thing Light stated that he arranges for criminals to die as far as 2 weeks in advance just in case he ever suddenly became unable to use the notebook. So, people would continue to die of heart attacks after Light's death. After a week of heart attack victims I think a lot of people (even L) might assume Light wasn't Kira. Regardless, the minute Light's dad discovered that L was responsible for killing Light, he would 100% go on a rampage and try to arrest (or, failing that, murder) L. L breaks the law a lot, but aside from the Taskforce (5 cops/former cops), the police would be unaware of his crimes (like bugging civilian households and detaining people without a trial for months). If Light's dad or the other cops informed the police that L killed Light (or any of his crimes) the police would most likely attempt to arrest him, ESPECIALLY if the killings continued after Light's death.
      So yeah, Kira would have been defeated, but L would probably be in prison or dead. Also, none of them would ever 100% know that Light was Kira, because in theory the real Kira might have died or retired 2 weeks later and had nothing to do with Light, so it would forever be a mystery.

    • @blammmed
      @blammmed 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marvelsandals4228 i just saw this reply fksjd. yeah they might have doubled back on themselves and doubted their actions (i mean L) and it certainly would have been a fucked way for the anime to end but i dont think theyd have killed L. the other equally messed up solution would be to kill everyone that was in the area of that first news broadcast that revealed kiras location.

    • @marvelsandals4228
      @marvelsandals4228 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@blammmed I mean ultimately Kira is a serial killer whose true identity is a mystery. There have been real world examples like this before (the Zodiac killer comes to mind) and ultimately the police don't randomly kill suspects just in case. They follow police procedure and seek to have solid evidence against a given suspect prior to arresting them. Sure, Kira's body count is a lot higher, so perhaps they would be desperate enough to bend the rules, but killing randos is pretty extreme.

    • @username-ql8ox
      @username-ql8ox 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally believe L would never tty to kill Kira like this though.
      As both of them have stated, they have the same personality. Proving that Light is Kira is L's goal, not to kill him. Killing him without evidence is a loss for L, and he will never accept that. The biggest reason why L is convinced Light is Kira is because he knows how he thinks because they are similar. This was stated multiple times in the shiw

    Great video. Biggest complaint I have with Death Note (and by extension, this analysis) is the lack of law enforcement attempting to give an "exit ramp" to either Kira suspects. Maybe that can be chalked up to the crimes being so serious that they don't even pretend to think they'd be stupid enough to believe there's a way out, but most law enforcement will always offer suspects a "hey, it's not your fault. Just tell us what happened and everything will be ok". Or flat out lie, and say it's not a crime if x,y, or z. I know this bc I've been a suspect before (was guilty, btw, was already convicted) of a drug crime (not selling) and was asked to sit down for a half dozen interrogations. And that's one reason that I think Death Note is, to some degree, copaganda. They will lie to suspects, suspects family members, co-workers to cajole information. Not to mention threaten people who had nothing to do with the crime, just known associates to get information or even force a suspect to turn themselves in. It's easy to say the cops are the good guys when they are chasing a guy killing people. L does bend the rules alot, which I'll give credit to the show. But the detectives act like this is some really beyond the pale behavior, justified only bc it's Kira they are hunting. Not to mention the cops in this (and many shows with detectives, not trying to say only Death Note does this) have their own form of morality, similar to Kira's, which justify their behavior towards others. That's my only complaint really about this analysis and Death Note, the detectives acting objectively moral (excluding L) while in reality they are willing to justify a whole lot of bad behavior, similar to Kira, if it even remotely helps them reach their goal. That's all, great video Hiding

    ya this show is a masterpiece lmao, great anaylysis by the way I love it.
    I dont know if this is true or not but I think a lot of criminals sometimes do things because they believe they will never get that chance again, or because they are already super far in, they should just go on with it. During the rioting in 2020 there is a video of a girl witnessing the riots and then it shows her running into the store to go riot as well. She was already at the store so she was extremely far in, and because everyone else is doing this, and a perfect chance like this would never happen again she ran it. Atleast thats my theory but im not a expert on criminal physcology but this is not really criminal more like pressure, and that leads into light yagami. He picked up the death note and killed 2 kids and he was contimplaiting if he should go on. But as stated he said that nobody else would be able to change the world, and I think a unspoken truth is that he used the death note because he knew this 1 and million chance would never ever come again. And he already killed 2 people, so he decided to go on. And at the time Light did think he would be killed by a shinigami to suck out his soul so it was this peer pressure to do as much as he could.
    Its just something I thought of, might not really make sense but good video non the less. And the gun scene in the car is up there with my favorite death note scenes.

    To be fair, it makes sense that L would let Misa see him. She already saw him once and since his name is literally "L" and he knows that the second Kira knows that Light and L already know each other, she probably figured out who he is and could kill him at anytime if she truely is the second Kira (from L's point of view), so it dosen't really change anything. Furthermore if L dies after Misa and Light are freed, it would be obvious that they are guilty and since Light and Misa don't know if there are other people besides the taskforce and Wateri who know that Misa and Light saw L's, it wouldn't be a smart move to kill him, before their names are 100% cleared. And from L's point of view it's pretty great to be able to see how Misa and Light act "freely".
    Now that I am done defending the show, like the dirty fanboy that I am, let me give you an example of a underrated scene.
    The scene where Soichiro and Mello talk shortly before he dies. I love this scene for so many reasons, especially in the manga.
    Mello tells everyone to throw their guns down and to let someone in with the notebook to give it to him or else he blows the building up (the walls in his room are thicker). They let Soichiro in who has the Shinigami eyes and since Mello dosen't know those exist, he thinks that he holds all the cards, since there is no way for him to kill him without a gun.
    We get such an interesting scene. On the one hand we have a kind-hearted ex-police officer and caring family man who is loyal to his morals and the law with a notebook that kills people and on the other we have a almost completely ruthless, crazy genius that just wants to proof himself to be the best, no matter what it takes and is able to blow up the whole building.
    First Soichiro tells Mello that he knows his name and pulls out a pen to let him know that he isn't as save as he thought. He tells him to surrender and if he wants to live, but Mello just answers with laughter and says that as soon as his pen touches the notebook, he blows the building up.
    Soichiro tells him that he dosen't care about his life anymore and Mello knows that since he traumatized his daughter, something that Soichiro blames himself for, along with the lifes Mello took thanks to the notebook that SOICHIRO gave him.
    Mello sees that Soichiro is probably serious, considering that the 13 day rule would kill him if he wrote his name down, so he instead trys to play into his guild and loyality and says that if the building blows up, his man will die too.
    Soichiro says that his man are ready for everything bsc telling Mello "There is no way out". Soichiro dosen't want to pull his people into this, but thinks that if he shows anykind of weakness he loses since it gives Mello hope and something to abuse. He also says that his people and the notebook will probably survive the explossion thanks to their armor to give Mello also a logical argument for why he should give up.
    The scene gets just more tense by Light thinking "This guy is ready to do everything! Just kill him, NOW!"
    Mello then trys to get his gun quickly while saying "Yagami you.. probably never killed someone before, have you?" however Soichiro is focused and tells him to stop while writing his first name in the notebook. He then says that writing his last name will just take a second. He is slowly putting more and more weight on Mello, first telling him there is no way to escape and then telling him that he could kill him at literally anytime he wants. And the fact that everyone now knows Mellos name is probably also troubling for him.
    The scene then ends with Mello telling Soichiro that he should of killed him, before one of Mellos man, who played dead in a corner, suddenly gets up and shoots Soichiro from behind, almost killing him. Yet he stills holds on to the notebook, until the rest of the task force are in to arrest Mello, who is able to escape in confusion thanks to his bombs. Soichiro didn't kill Mello since he thinks killing is wrong and disgusting. Funnily enough NOT killing Mello was the thing that saved Near at the end.
    I love this scene, since both sides try to put pressure on the other in the hopes that their opponent gives up, while also making and calling bluffs. Both of them see each other eye to eye, but don't want to kill the other except if it's truely the last resort. The scene is so tense with Light remeinding us of how crazy Mello is and the fact that you most likeily love Soichiro at that point and don't want him to get hurt or die. But if he writes Mellos name in the notebook, he dies from Light and if he dosen't he dies from Mello, so in both cases you know he will meet his fate soon sadly.
    Great scene overall.
    Okay that was a long comment.. Near out.
    PS. Great video, really enjoyed it!

      True, but you are forgetting one important thing. L's true name is never revealed in the anime OR manga (aside from the "How To Read" volume which was released AFTER the conclusion of the storyline in the manga). Also, even if Ohba, the author, claims L's true name is L, that's silly. Why would L, a genius PI who went to extreme lengths to keep his true identity a secret, CHOOSE a work name that is identical to the given name on his birth certificate? How many people in the entire world had the given name "L" prior to Ohba introducing this character? A thousand? A hundred? Less? He would be making it very easy for criminals and the police to figure out his true identity.
      But if we disregard all of that, how on earth did Misa forget L's true name? I could understand if she forgot his surname, but his given name? She knows that L is Light's #1 enemy and that they have met face to face, and then Light introduces his friend to her as "Hideki Ryuga," but the given name she sees is "L". I know Misa's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but even Misa would remember that little detail. If we take that bit of trivia seriously, we are expected to believe that Misa forgot L's name is L.

    • @Belowski69
      @Belowski69 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marvelsandals4228 L's full name is "L Lawliet." No one knows L's real name, there are no legal records anywhere, the only way to figure his name out would be to have the Shinigami eyes or to somehow get it out of his mouth. I don't see a problem with using your real name if it's literally a letter and there're no records of your name anywhere. Every person on the planet would think, that "L" isn't your real name and is just a fake name. Hell most people probably wouldn't even think that your real name starts with L. Everyone would think it's just a codename, therefor it dosen't matter if it's real or not. L also didn't know that he had to fight a supernatural killer who can kill by name when he picked that name and got famous with it, meaning that he probably didn't care much about people knowing his real first name, when he can always operate under a fake one in public. So it dosen't matter. The fact that L is his real name, dosen't change a thing because no one would think that anyone is just named "L", everyone would literally believe it's a codename so who cares?
      Asfor Misa forgetting L's true name, I would assume it's because of her being tortured for months and then living without memeory for more months. Add to that her low intelligence and I say that's believable. But lets just say for a moment that Misa actually DID REMEMBER L'S NAME. Lets just say she did. It would change nothing about the events of the show.
      Light writes in the letter that Misa reads after getting her memory back "Don't kill L until I give you the order." this is because of Rem. Light didn't want Misa to kill L, he wanted Rem to do it so Rem would die. So if Misa remembered L's name, Light simply would of told her to NOT KILL HIM, forcing Rem to kill L for the two and then dieing just like he wanted. After Rem is dead, Light tells Misa to do the eye deal with Ryuk which she will do since she is obedient and we have the same plot. The only reason why Light wanted Misa to know L's name was as a safetynet. If Rem (for whatever reason) didn't want to kill L, then at least Misa could do it. Rem and Wateri would be still alive but at least L is out. This would be plan B. But since Rem loves Misa and Light can simply tell Misa to not kill L and let Rem do it to get rid of everyone he wants in one move, plan B was never needed. It was simply a safteynet. Just in case.
      SO EVEN IF MISA REMEMBERED L'S NAME THE PLOT WOULDN'T CHANGE AT ALL. And this is besides the point that I find Misa forgetting the name still believable personally.
