AT-M6 seems to have a huge design flaw. It has the power or laser cells exposed in the back. Some missiles that could penetrate the armor of those cells could destroy the walker entirely.
Not really, it's too obvious. Counter battery fire would be an almost trivial matter. Also it's direct fire only. Finally, it's large and expensive, therefore scarce. Something disadvantageous in a role where fire saturation is very important.
@@CallanElliott I would say that depends on use, as specialization must be taken into account. The AT-TE works as a general assault unit, while both the AT-M6 and SPHA are specialized as artillery units. An AT-TE functions well enough on its own due to its multi-purpose weaponry and low profile, but that doesn't mean the AT-M6 and SPHA are inherently bad because they are large and specialized. The difference is both would require an escort to fend off attackers while the artillery takes out heavy or far off targets. Personally, I still prefer the AT-TE since it can perform light artillery duties with its mass driver cannon, but sometimes heavier firepower is needed.
Except, any modern artillery _doesn't_ use line of sight because it sucks. The rebels fled behind a hill? Oh shucks, now my large expensive artillery walker can't hit them. If only you had something with arching shots that could fire well outside of visual range, like a howitzer for instance.
The Manka actually doesn't seem half bad. It's what I would imagine as a proper walker. It's the right size, it has the proper amount of legs, it's too short to be tripped, and it isn't overkill. It also looks like something that would be safe to ride in.
I hate when people say the height of the AT-AT makes it stupid for grip transport. We have people wh rappel down from helicopters in real life and they hover quite a ways above the ground. The AT-AT is just a lot more armored, and a lot more stable as it has 4 legs keeping it grounded as where a helicopter isn't quite as stable. So no, they won't just "fall to their deaths" that's quite a dumb statement to be honest. It has other flaws such as how goddamn slow it is but I think it's just fun for everyone to shit on the empire because.

I get that it's a fantasy/sci-fi setting and not everything's going to make logical sense but why use all these slow moving walkers when in many of the instances they were deployed entering atmosphere with one of their capital ships and just blasting everything away with superior weapons would be far more efficient. The use of walkers in dense environments makes sense and they showed that off a lot better in the Clone Wars tv show than they ever did in the movies.

Why dose that cut-away of the Gorilla walker have a Tokamak inside? That's absolutely not cannon, power generators in Star Wars have never been shown to be anything but spherical and are clearly not Tokamaks.
Another problem with the AT-AT is that you're putting all that weight on 4 small points of contact with the ground. Tracked vehicles have the advantage of dispersing their weight across a larger area of ground contact. This allows them to traverse mud, snow and other unstable terrain far better than AT-AT. Additionally, the less pressure on the ground, the less likely you'll set off pressure mines. So the taller AT-AT is still vulnerable to mines.

Personally i like to think there WAS technical progress, but they kept using the old chassis as they could carry the new tech. So while the same from the outside, inside they are a lot more modern. If you develope a more efficient, compact and stronger shield device, you can mount it on an older ship, increasing its protection even though the armor still is the same. Just as one example.
let's be honest, if the AT-TE was given an AT-M6 head with rotating duel Anti-infantry turret's on the head that's built on the tank with no neck, with shield's and heavier armor and differently designed leg's like a crab droid's leg's to increase speed (60 MPH) and manuverability, and add some anti-infantry turret's on the side of the tank and I'd be perfect as a main-line battle tank
It's been a year and no one's responded to you so I'll do my best to give a quick explanation/theory if you still care. #1: It's a movie/tv show and only serves as a convenience to the audience with no logical explanation. (It just looks good). #2: It's my theory that the artificial gravity producers within a ship are the cause of it appearing to go "down" from wherever it was disabled.
They basically had it with the AT-TE. Six legs, plenty of terrain capability and redundancy in case of damage to one or more legs, low center of gravity and good stability. Removing two legs and raising the body on the AT-AT made it vulnerable and instable and served absolutely no purpose and it's safe to say that those vehicles were designed that way in 70s purely for aesthetic reasons. Or has anyone ever seen an AT-AT walk with a missing leg or walk up any sort of incline?
I'd argue the "walker armored tank"s all share a similar form factor, but they do not share a single platform. Sharing a platform would suggest they all have a common base frame. The term form factor can be used more loosely, referring to them all walking on legs for locomotion, similar to land animals. Ex: The Toyota Supra and BMW Z4 share the same platform, but they are not the same form factor because one is a hatchback and the other a convertible.
If you think about it what's not to like about walkers? - The height gives range and greater LOS - The (right) height makes it harder to get to you - Legs can be effectively armored and only really need to move up - You can still have big guns on them - More and/or bigger legs means more and/or bigger armor and guns - Why drive over something when you can crush it? - You look intimidating AF - Soundz of stomping death - We might get Metal Gear In conclusion: ARMORED WARFARE OF THE FUTURE BABY!!
The height also makes you easier to see. There is a reason why the russians tried to build their tanks as flat as possible during the cold war and besides the big advantage of a tank is that it can move quickly from one place to another. A walker just goes as fast as the rest of the infantry giving you no further tactical options and then the opposing infantry can just carry a big canon platform with them and will easily destroy your precious walker.
@@Stego1819 if we talk about post-WWII Russian tanks, then on one hand, yes, they are smaller compared to western counterpart, but on the other - they loose some of their "stealth" by being extremely noisy and being very easy to spot when using thermal camera. And every vehicle has different max speed on and off road - and tanks are not that fast when traversing terrain - especially if they have to shoot effectively
They are still faster then walkers on terrain and way faster on the streets. And I only used the russians as the most extreme example. All modern tanks have a low profile compared to the original tanks because that is the most effective.
Now I imagine like, an over-eager, inexperienced imperial/new order-officer deploying his men out of the AT-AT. The hatch opens, the men are ready, the officer is standing by the hatch ready to send his men through and shouts "Go go go!" The stormtroopers just look at him and is like "Uh sir, shouldn't we use cables to abseil safely down to the ground...?" The officer grabs the closest trooper and is like "NO! JUST GO!!" and throws him out. The rest of the stormtroopers just reluctantly jumps to their deaths out of loyalty to the empire
The Virgin AT-AT vs the Chad zaku 2 Virgin AT-AT: can't be used in space, slow as shit, weak to trip wire, can't jump, can't kick, needs more than one pilot to crew, no axe. Chad zaku 2: can be used in space and in planets, can kick, can jump, can jump very high, more variety of weapons that are more powerful, cheaper, mono eye for intimidation, easy to repair, fast, has an axe, needs only one pilot, piloted by char.

To me it's strange that the AT-TE has more guns. But if you remember in Rebels when it faced against the AT-AT, the only gun the AT-TE used was the big main cannon. I don't get why the others were not used tho. Plus the cannon firing didn't sound the same like in The Clone Wars or in Episode 3.
That's a pretty broad range there. I'm going to assume an F-150 with a 6-foot bed, or an equivalent GMC/Chevy C1500, since that's probably the most common variant for most people's needs.
AngryEchidna the empire is usually denigrated by making some unsubstantiated claims like storm troopers had no fire control tech in their helmets to aid in aiming their weapons or they TIEs lacked even basic navigational deflector shields to avoid micrometeorites and thus also lacked life support which required pilots to use closed helmets and sealed suits, when flying a star fighter with an ejection seat in vacuum would only make sense if the pilot had a completely sealed suit, and despite ample evidence of even ‘basic’TIEs having life support capable of sustaining several individuals in one vehicle (see the Rebels cartoon).

I can't help but feel a sense of deja vu, like I saw this topic covered before weeks ago, but it might have been a different channel, possibly Eckuarts ladder but I might need to double check. Even had the same exact thumbnail.
THE SONG IS TIME TO WAKE UP BY CACTI
THANK YOU! :D
finally a video about walkers, thank you
I prefer a tracked tank!
This is unit 1 reporting in. The Dolphin invasion has been pushed back in the southern quadrant but we are low on artillery and ammo. Requesting resupply Commander Alan.
This is unit 7 sending supplies to southern quadrant. Records show dolphin crewed defenses in the central quadrant. Reinforcements are requested. Anti-prismarine weaponry advised. Informing unit 5
Aside from some small flaws and a weird design, the new walker looks pretty cool.
7000 kg in a Minute ....
Oh alright I didnt knew that was lied to all of my life about measurements
So... basically a complete rework
So it be an ugly walker, like the y-tie and the x-ceptor.
7:40 He should have said, “Or in American, 669,669 Big Macs”
I see what you did there :)
Great job !!
The braces on the atm6 had raisers to stop the snow speeders on Hoth from tripping them because it would cut the cords
I would love to see a video about mini Death Star laser they had on crait. Finn said it was Death Star tech, so does that mean it uses kyber crystals?
Probably used Tibana, and Finn was high off his rocker from inhaling too much salt.
Do a video on why star ships go down when destroyed in space
It's been a year and no one's responded to you so I'll do my best to give a quick explanation/theory if you still care.
#1: It's a movie/tv show and only serves as a convenience to the audience with no logical explanation. (It just looks good).
#2: It's my theory that the artificial gravity producers within a ship are the cause of it appearing to go "down" from wherever it was disabled.
“And for you Americans 150 pickup trucks”
Me a pure blooded Texan: That’s heavy
Conversions r amazing 10/10
Do the evelousion of the generation tech?
I'm so proud u guys are learning metric. You pretty much have it down. Keep up the great Vids. And remember metric is the superior system.
Drugs have taught entire generations of Americans the metric system.
I would incorporate the advances in walker technology into the AT-TE. The resulting vehicle would be the one I would take.
You forgot to mention that the Gorilla walker, had cable cutters, which fixed the cable problem of the og Walker.
I have never felt this lost...
8:23 what is the game on screen??
love the metric conversions
I love these videos sooooo much lol
If you think about it what's not to like about walkers?
- The height gives range and greater LOS
- The (right) height makes it harder to get to you
- Legs can be effectively armored and only really need to move up
- You can still have big guns on them
- More and/or bigger legs means more and/or bigger armor and guns
- Why drive over something when you can crush it?
- You look intimidating AF
- Soundz of stomping death
- We might get Metal Gear
In conclusion: ARMORED WARFARE OF THE FUTURE BABY!!
The Virgin AT-AT vs the Chad zaku 2
Virgin AT-AT: can't be used in space, slow as shit, weak to trip wire, can't jump, can't kick, needs more than one pilot to crew, no axe.
Chad zaku 2: can be used in space and in planets, can kick, can jump, can jump very high, more variety of weapons that are more powerful, cheaper, mono eye for intimidation, easy to repair, fast, has an axe, needs only one pilot, piloted by char.
Let’s test the reaction time of that ATAT.
@@stormspotter67 **proceeds to zaku kick it in one of the legs which resulted in the AT-AT collapsing almost instantly**
AT-AT crewmen: "sir what the hell is that thing, is that some sort of naw weapon the rebels built!?"
AT-AT commander: "I don't know, but I know is that we need to get out of-"
**Char then destroys the cockpit of the AT-AT with a single single swing of his heathawk**
Char: "hmmp, it would have been a waste of ammunition to take you down."
What about the droid attack on the wookies?
What if Anakin failled to find Ventress during the Wrong Jedi arc?
Anakin would still turn to the dark side but it might have happened quicker
That metric conversion hurt my brain...lol
The AT-AT is 22.5 meters high. Which when translated to metric comes out to about 928 liters per mile.
"In American, 150 pick up trucks." Love it
That's a pretty broad range there. I'm going to assume an F-150 with a 6-foot bed, or an equivalent GMC/Chevy C1500, since that's probably the most common variant for most people's needs.
I have one question: how are the troops suppose to get down from an AT-AT or a Mega Caliber 6?
Since when did a kilogram become a unit to measure time?
The thumbnail is growth in a armoured walker
Or in American, 150 pickup trucks
I loved that
I love you Allen
The Manka- class looks like a cross between an AT-TE and an AT-AT
8:56 I'm pretty sure that was a feature of the Imperial Stormtroopers
I want an old Republic series
top speed of 37 mph:
WTF THAT THING IS MOVING LIKE ONE.... ONE FREAKIN MILE PER HOUR!
That’s probably when they use all there power to the legs
