    Another neat fact. Most people dont realize that the LAAT had a rear gun. Yep, that thing sticking out of the back is actually a rear turret used for anti fighter support. So the LAATs were capable of full 360 degree fire when fully weaponized.

To make 1 with similar ballistic defense using current metals would make just it's armor meters thick and too heavy. We don't have a dense enough power source. We don't have repulsor tech. And I don't have to point out our military doesn't even use energy weapons yet.

    10 Features that made the Tri-Fighter Droid the BEST Fighter in Star Wars

    • @BansheeNT-D
      @BansheeNT-D 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Arc is very heavy and bad in Dogfights against faster Ships.Only good thing the Arc-170 can drop bombs and is useful without Carrier.

    • @daleford8621
      @daleford8621 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That's kinda debatable. I love both those ships, but I'm not sure an arc170 could out dogfight a tri. Those things are tiny, all black, can handle higher g's, are very well armed, much faster, and their weaponry is very narrowly focused so all your guns are actually going to be hitting in just about the same spot. The tri reminds me of the vipers from Battlestar Galactica.

    • @maVRoyal66
      @maVRoyal66 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Droid Tri-Fighter... Yes its fast and small. But Arc have 4 laser canons, proton torpedoes, back-seat turret, hyperdrive, heavy armor and if i remember correctly its own shielding ( correct me if i am uncorrect ) Tri fighter can hit arc, but arc will probably be able to take on few morr shots. Meanwhile one small burst out of laser canons from arc could effectively wipe out any tri droid if pilot and co-pilot were good... And in most of time they were.

    • @daleford8621
      @daleford8621 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@maVRoyal66 pretty sure you're right on the shielding, but dont forget the tri has buzz droid missiles, not to mention 4 laser canons of its own. Like I said I love both of them, the arc kinda looks like a precursor to my fav heavy fighter in sw. The k wing 😍 the a10 of the franchise

    • @daleford8621
      @daleford8621 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maVRoyal66 oh but dont forget, those tri fighters were able to keep pace with anakin and obi wan in their jedi fighters, and those things are way more maneuverable than a 170. I'd say if the arc170 and tri were facing off apart from each other then the arc has a very good chance of wiping the floor with the tri. If that tri gets into dogfight range however, that arc is done. In that kind of fight speed and turning is everything.

    • @valen9835
      @valen9835 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here's one. The weapon is at it's best when created with a crystal that chose it's wielder, and has the right materials. Lightsabers can also be affect by it's user's actions, such as starkiller using Rahm Kota's until he got a crystal that belonged to his father, put it in the lightsaber and made it better. Than later when he became a true rebel he cleaned the weapon's crystals and it was lighter than it was before. Point is the weapon changes depending on what happens to it's wielder, who wields it, and what was put into making it. Meaning non-force users or someone who didn't originally own the blade may not find the weapon's results as satisfying as they wanted.

      The LAAT was actually inspired by thr Soviet Mi-24 Hind Soviet helicopter. It serves in both the troop transport and CAS roles with a troop capacity of 8 and heavy armor aswell as a nose mounted machine gun to eliminate those in its path. To my knowledge the Blackhawk and it's variants is the closest thing the US or any nation has to the role of the Hind since most designs lean more into one role or the other.

      Called it. Knew it was gonna happen.
      Anyways, I think Allen tries to be unbiased in his videos most of the time - and the information he presents is generally very reliable, coming from specific sources or basic logic/determining skills, or even decently useable Legends sources. Besides, you yourself have to admit that the LAAT/i is an affective design - weapons pack a huge punch and are numerous, very versatile as it can land troops, supplies, or even AT-RTs and speeder bikes, and having what appears to be a pretty hunky, sturdy armor (based on the outward appearance of the damn thing). Juggernaut is arguably generally a better vehicle than the AT-AT - it's a hell of a beast that can move much quicker and has a superior damage output as it is packed with missiles, lasers and whatnot, and has a (get ready) real *thicc* armor. ARC-170 arguably superior to many TIE variants, with it being heavily armed with huge-punch weapons (proton torpedoes and medium laser cannons - these looked/appeared especially powerful in the movies and Clone Wars series), and appears to have heavy armor (appearance-based), and shielding, along with a hyperdrive, astromech droid, and it being a multi-crew. All of these aspects made it a reliable fighter you can count on for general-purposes in space.
      And of course, there are some design flaws and aspects of each of these vehicles. And the Republic has many other aspects of it that are plagued with issues - the V-19 and V-Wing is literally the equivalent to a TIE/ln fighter, the AT-TE is vulnerable to landmines, the Y-Wing is too big and slow, the DC15S is not as versatile as a good ol' E11, and clones - although individually superior as a military soldier and specimen to the average imperial stormtrooper - are costly, take time to grow an army of them, and occasionally the DNA/genetics of a stormtrooper may be superior to the standard Jango Fett gene (usually however, Jango Fett gene is superior in combat aspects compared to the DNA of most stormtroopers).
      Also, not afraid of saying it. I am a republic fanboy. I'm also a fanboy of the empire - they're the two official government galactic superpowers in Canon. Maybe CIS can be considered official military-wise (but they were technically a rebellion/resistance, just much better organized). The Resistance, Rebels, and FO are all inferior rebellions.

    I hadn't really thought too tremendously much about it, but after you mentioned it in the video, the LAAT gunship really does have a great deal of similarities with the HIND-D helicopter gunship & troop transport for everything that it can do & can be configured to do. It's all around capabilities, especially to transport the ATTE tanks, had to have made it a vital strategic asset in battle field tactics.
