The clones are artificially aged, programmed enslaved child soldiers and many Jedi had no problem leading them to their deaths. We do see Anakin, Yoda, Obi and Ahsoka treating them as human, but there is a sub layer suggesting other Jedi might not do this.

I want to preface this by saying that there isn't anything factually wrong with what you actually say from 13:15 , the problem is that a lot of people will take how you use the example of Palestine as confirmation of Israeli propaganda. Which concerns me more because you are very much someone people trust to have a clear head about this stuff.
I know this is not a video, nor a channel, set up to discuss the (decidedly illegal) occupation of Palestine, so any reference is going to be brief, but I am concerned that you invoke Palestine as an example regarding child soldiering when there are much better examples. I've rewritten myself a half-dozen times over the last 30 minutes and still haven't found a good way to express my reaction to this part, which means I should probably not try too hard.
Like, given how thoroughly Israel is targeting Palestinian children--children being shot in the head by highly-trained snipers, Hind Rajab who was murdered in cold blood only after the Israeli military was informed of her location by the medics who were also targeted despite coordinating their movements with the Israeli military, said military bombing the very places they declared "safe zones" when families are crowded in by the thousands--just in the last year, let alone over the many decades of illegal occupation, they don't need any help hating. Btw, the vast majority of Palestinians know that Israel is responsible, not Jewish people. Some Palestinian groups do traffic in antisemitism, but the lack of context you provide falsely suggests that it's a bigger factor than it actually is.
P.S. If you're interested in a discussion in a more appropriate setting than the comments section I'd be sincerely glad to oblige. You're clearly someone who is able to hold a civilized, let alone intelligent, conversation about such serious stuff.

In With the Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa, the writer Eugene Sledge perhaps put it best. While he was writing specifically about his experiences on Peleliu, you could probably apply to any major experience of combat:
"To the noncombatants and those on the periphery of the action, the war meant only boredom or occasional excitement, but to those who entered the meat grinder itself the war was a netherworld of horror from which escape seemed less and less likely as the casualties mounted and the fighting dragged on and on. Time had no meaning, life had no meaning. The fierce struggle for survival in the abyss of Peleliu had eroded the veneer of civilization and made savages of us all."

Another reason kids work well as soldiers is how fast they learn. Younger kids learn stuff faster and start slowing down the older they get. It’s why kids can learn how to talk and speak so quickly. A young kid say around 10 can learn how to fight much faster. They can actually become a fairly well trained and competent soldier much much faster than an adult and pick up specialized skills too. They also have better reflex’s that slow down as they get older it’s why a lot of gamers are younger and stop being able to keep us as they grow older. This makes them very good at using vehicles. Anakin didn’t just win the pod race because he was force sensitive he won because he was able to figure out how to pilot quicker being young instead of needing years of training and because he has faster reflexes than the adult racers. For examples to show how effective child soldiers are please see the anime mobile suit gundam iron blooded orphans

Of course some things are fictional like Adam and Eve story to symbolize ideas and moral rules. So what im talking about, David vs Goliath is legend. But it is based on likely situation in these Times, where bordeelr beetwen Child and men wasnt 18 years of life.

At this point, what prevented some warlords in the Outer Rim to establish the Devshirme system and form the unit similar to the Janissaries for their own uses? The major different will be that the Janissaries will never get to go to battles until they finished their education and become fully grown men.
So at the very least, such system will be considered an improvement, right? I spoke based on the evidences that such a scenario where child soldiers is the norm, of course.
Edit: Answers can be found by looking into the most unlikely sources of information, particularly from the defeated parties. Remember, history is not and never always be written by the victors. Those who lost did write their stories down and they should be taken equally seriously and not to be dismissed as propaganda because what written by the victors can be considered as nothing but propaganda too.

I fell like Neel is the real hero of the group, he doesn't want any of this shit. He just wants to sit at a desk and crunch numbers and he's afraid of everything. But Neel is the one that us there for everyone and that stands up for what's right even when it's hard or he's scared, he just does it anyway cause someone has to

I also wondered what use the Hattan might have for old Republic credits. They can’t be worth anything on At Achrin, but Jod might have convinced the Hattan they would be worth lots to visitors who bring munitions, which as the Troika leader says is all they trade for. So in the end, Jod bought back the Troika eopies with money that will be used to buy weapons to kill them.

Yeah actually the Hattan had tanks too already and we didn't see any child Soldiers with them. I also view child soldiers is kind of a desperate measure so maybe the Hattan are the strong side.

I'd argue it's more the underdevelopment of prefrontal cortex of teens and young adults rather than Alan's assumption of chidlren's or 18-year-old soldiers less developed fear centers of the brain. A more developed prefrontal cortex, usually after age 25, helps a person act less impulsively but more rationally, be it to postpone immediate rewards for longer term gains and well-being.

This is right. Kids do not have the ability to think through an idea to its logical conclusion (or set of possible conclusions). They also have a hard time imagining the worst possible consequences in a given situation.

Nice video, the comparison to real life child soldiers to star wars was interesting to listen to. I have a question tho, are there any instances of night vision being used in in Canon star wars lore? I build analog night vision devices as a hobby and im always curious to see my hobby portraid in media hahaha

@@GenerationTech Yeah I think I remember the clones using handheld night vision scanners, but I can't recall anyone ever using helmet mounted or Helmet built in night vision. It always makes me laugh to see Space age Militaries still using flashlights and stuff when a normal dude like me in the 21st century can have night vision/thermal fusion goggles like the damn predator hahaha

Since the planet is constantly in conflict, it makes sense that children are soldiers, they have to be since they won't survive if they are untrained, it is harsh but in that context it is normal for kids to be trained in soldiering and engage the enemy. What the episode is trying to show the difference between children who grew up in peace and order as opposed those who grew up in constant conflict

  • @ClanWeirWolf

Well when all you see are problems and issues it's easy to feel forlorn. The show and other stories are talking about the dark aspects of life to help drive the story and bring discussion on said aspects. There's also probably plenty of worlds that are stable, functioning societies like Naboo. Comparing At Atten to this world would of course make it look like a utopia, doesn't mean it is. Not saying that we should minimize the dark aspects of life, a person should know and understand them to be a better individual. Just that we shouldn't let ourselves get locked on them.

No, people are far from inherently good. The closest people have is sympathy. And while some are fairly lacking in it, others fail to restrain it to morality and justice: fighting just as much for the person causing problems as the one being wronged (or just whichever they are closer to/find the most pleasant). And of those who do, their morality might just be messed up or hypocritical. Or just incoherent.
Being actually good, to more than just the people you have a strong personal bond with, is usually something we have to artificially build. And it’s on hard mode, since things like indoctrination or tyranny are not good, as are many other really effective methods for controlling and/or shaping people, groups, and societies.
