THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! I did a $15 "Super Thanks." I hope TH-cam actually sends the money along to you. The drive stopped working on my snowblower and I found you video. I followed your suggestions and when I removed the bottom plate, I found the bolt you described sheared in half. I replaced that bolt and the snowblower is up and running again. Your video allowed me to fix the problem instead of taking the thing in to be fixed. That would have taken weeks and cost me some money. Again, thank you! You made the world just a little bit better today - please give yourself a gold star and maybe a beer or two with the 15 bucks.

My wife was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. As she improved so did her appetite. As we know hospital food isnt the greatest. She was only able to eat and keep down Chicken and Broccolli with assorted veggies and fried rice. You bought her dinner for a 2 nights and forever grateful!

Thank You very much. You saved me hundreds of dollars in repair by replacing a simple bolt that I never thought about. I was wondering why I saw a broke bolt when I took the cover off the bottom. I replaced the bolt that connects the wheels and I am back in business. My back thanks you.

Thanks for this!! Saved me some time. Been trying to keep up with all the snow in this lake effect snow belt region. Got a freak storm six feet in a 24 hour time period lol. Got to love Buffalo!!

@@pattayperformance You're nuts for wanting to move closer!! We just had a record blizzard Christmas weekend and the Craftsman engine gave up. Sounded like loose change rattling and it seized up rather quickly lol. Have a great new year!! Cheers!!

Let there be light, LOL!!! Great to see that you're rewarding your frequent and loyal customers with this "courtesy" preventative maintenance tune-up. That's a shame that the factory didn't extend that shear bolt just a little bit more. Could you have gotten away with applying some threadlocker to the existing factory setup? Twenty-five years ago, we had to replace a split slotted spring pin shear pin on an old REO snow blower from the 1970's and getting the pin into the opening was next to impossible, so we just stuck a stainless steel bolt with elastic stop nut on it and it was fine for many more years. Be well.

OEM BOLT is long and is a SHEER PIN. The short bolt in the video is what I had laying around. Sorry I wasn’t clear!
Threadlocker would work but I prefer nylon lock nut as it’s easier to remove with no heat or excessive force.
It’s up to people like to make it better or maintain it their standards!

Hopefully this is your issue! Don’t forget to use a nylon lock nut!

Definitely going to check this.Mine has the same problem, but only after I bring it inside to thaw? Once I put it outside it works fine?
It may seem like snow is getting inside the machine. Next time it happens, pull the machine inside flip it up on its side and see where snow is coming in
Great video. With my power . The gear (that turns the drive shaft) turned but did not connect to the drive shaft AND there was no hole 🕳️ to place a pin, or bolt ?
There is a hole…you have to find it.

How do I get the axle shaft to line back up with the bolt hole? It's spinning locked in place and misaligned with the hole
Sounds like it’s rusted in there…apply some lube…pliers on the sprocket and spin the shaft
Do you know what the measurements of the nut and bolt you used were???
I’m sorry I don’t, I just took what I had in bolt bin. Get some measuring tape or something you can compare it too and bring it to the hardware store to get the correct hardware

My daughter just bought her first house someone is selling me a snow blower for 50 bucks is a arian and they said it’s in good shape except it doesn’t propel is worth buying then getting it fixed , I’m really trying to help and keeping it affordable plz let me know

Any advice? I have one similar to this, it won't go forward hardly at all, reverse works well though, I've replaces rhe friction disc already, don't remember anything about that bolt but I would assume wouldn't work either if that bolt was gone
Adjust the friction disc or cable so it grabs. Are you on instagram?
@pattayperformance Disc has been replaced and yes I adjusted the cable, I had to back it off it grabbed so hard it was stopping the plate that rotates, reverse works well and forward kind of works till it hits snow then just stops

Good test if you want too and at your own risk…
Pull belt over and belly pan. Block up the machine so the wheels don’t touch the ground. But you can still see what’s going on inside. Start the machine and clamp the drive lever in a low speed. Stop the wheel by hand and see what’s slipping

I have watched a few of these fine videos but still can't figure out why my craftsman blower wheels have locked. the friction wheel looks fine but something is stopping the wheels from turning even just manually pushing it.

@@pattayperformance The chain looks fine. It just seem something is seized.
@@peterkirkpatrick1336 looks fine and is fine are two separate things.
In this video it explains how the system works. So what part of the system isn’t working as it should? Have you pulled the cover and stick your hand in there yet?
@@pattayperformance Very good video, thank you. I have the cover off and the wheels are seized, I thought maybe one of the tire chains caught on something but all is clear. The friction wheel does not spin as easy as what you showed.
@@peterkirkpatrick1336 clean it up…lube it up and adjust the friction clearance between the disc itself and plate it touches…

Don’t force anything so you don’t break it…
Pull the belly pan and observe to see if something is broke, out of place or jammed up in there
