my friend that worked as a manager / mechanic and fixes my small engine repairs if i can't get it, i brung him my 9 hp craftsman with power steering on it and 1 day it stopped working, he took it apart and couldn't figure it out and let me borrow a 2 stroke Toro push blower that did pretty good, i was very surprised, well i bought that off of him since it was for sale $150 friend cost now i know how to fix my craftsma snowblower, i bet thats the problem because it runs great and started up after 2 years on 3 pulls, it took me on a snapper that my father inlaw gave me last year which was serviced by my friend and I only started it and ran it once in 2 inches of fluffy snow to to use it, well the drive and the auger are backwards from craftsman but it stopped working today in 5 inches of snow, either threw a belt drive or friction disc is dead or the spring on the friction wheel that pulls up broke off, it happened to my craftsman before, with this video i bet 100% thats my problem also plus the housing bearings look shot and its 17 years old now and best machine i have had, thanks for the video I'm gonna take mine apart to see whats wrong, i went off of what my friend told me, get a new 1 its beat, it was always maintained by me every year until i couldn't figure that out and that was2 years ago when we got record breaking snow fall and I'm disabled and thats why he gave 1 use that he was selling. keep up the good work because now my friend only fixes them on the side and is a city mechanic by trade after leaving the small engine repair and sales and put in 12 years there but no insurance or 401k & left for all the benifits and if i look at mine and its like yours I'm gonna give him hell since hes certified and keeps up on all licences and all new stuff is made by china engine's on most machines even riding mowers and there junk from what he states & my neighbor bought 1 and caught on fire on him 2 uses and other neighbor has problems with his also. just a heads up on the China engine's

Your bottom sproket was also hosed. You could see it pulled out of the spring pin that was supposed to be holding it in. The spring pin was bent over next to the sprocket. I could see the chain and sprocket off set. I hope you saw that and fixed that too.

Thank You for this sharing! Great Job!! I noticed that your Craftsman is very similar to my Husqvarna. Your Power Steering assembly 2:51 looks identical to mine. I have a question if you don't mind. I'm trying to figure out how to remove the Power Steering assembly. Does the wheel driver (right behind the wheel) spin off? I'm totally oblivious on how to remove it. Thanks again, I enjoyed your video. 👍

Thank you, i just manually pushed my blower thru my hard to clear the snow. As i just started that same small sprocket let go. I may just get mine welded instead of buying a new one, thanks.

Thanks for this.... I have exactly the same problem and now I know I can yank that out, have someone weld the sprocket back on.....instead of replacing parts. Shitty welds......

This looks like the same blower as mine, mine has been a real lemon, deflector cable broke after just over a year, they wanted 75.00 for it., then the belts , didn’t last long , just one season...now sometimes it won’t move and other times it does ....so it doesn’t sound like the gear is broken , or it would not move at all...it’s certainly not a quality machine , who builds something with one small spot weld , on such a part that has so much stress on it...

good deal got to love people that make that much money they can just through stuff out when it breaks instead of fixing it.

We have a small engine shop close to here that used to do all the repairs for sears so they know all the part numbers.
