  • Here is a Craftsman 24in snow blower that a customer brought in and said that he put gas in it and would not start. So after looking at it the carburetor was clogged up. So lets get it a part and rebuild this Hauyi carburetor. Please watch my playlist of all my other snow blower video's that might help you out also. • Snow Blower Repairs

Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.

Thanks so much. Every year I face the same issue and I had always been afraid to try and fixing it myself and ended up taking it to a mechanic shop. This year I had no way to do that so I decided to follow along with your video and give it a try. I was able to take the carburetor apart, clean it up and make it work. Thanks a million

We didn’t get any snow last year, so my machine sat for 2 years and of course wouldn’t start when it snowed this year. Sat in the garage for 3 weeks and I tried to start it every couple days with no luck. Real frustrating. Watched your video and now it runs like a champ. Thanks so much for posting this.

Hello! We got 10" of snow and my snow blower has only been used one time. It was showing the same symptoms as in the video. I have two 100ft + driveways and was feeling defeated. I don't know anything about engines or even care to learn about them. I watched this video and followed it step by step. After about an hour, I put everything back together, prayed to the snow blower gods and pulled the cord. I was so surprised and happy that it finally started and I was able to knock out cleaning my driveways. I can't thank you enough for this video and the detailed step by step instructions as well as the great camera angles. Keep up the great work and it truly is people like you and videos like this that save people money and time. Thanks again!!!!

I also have a Craftsman blower with the same engine. I recently had the same issue and my first indication of a problem was that the primer bulb didn't seem to be forcing any gas up into the carb. Problem with mine was the line from the carb bowl up to the intake was clogged (pressing the primer bulb forces fuel up this tube into the intake, which it could not do). Took the bowl off, sprayed some carb cleaner up there and after that it worked fine.
Note: as i write this I am less than 13 minutes into the video, so I don't yet know the problem. But I am predicting he has the same issue as I did.
      EDIT:
OK, watched further into the video and yup, same issue. Only I fixed mine without removing the carb from the engine. I just removed the bowl and sprayed a mess of carb cleaner up the tube. Yes, I also had a little gunk in the bowl, so I cleaned that, too. But as for the carb, I just put a bunch of rags under the carb and sprayed away.

One of the best tutorials out there. Went thru all the steps except forgot to re-install the float. I know, don't ask. What happened? Fuel everywhere even coming back out of the primer bulb! To top it off, piston got into vapor lock and was extremely froze. I went back into the carb and installed the float. Took out the spark plug and got excess fuel out of the cylinder. All is well. Learned a great lesson. Don't be in a hurry. Take your time and appreciate the $$ saved by this great video.

amazing video! I have to do this to a 2 year old craftsman snowblower that I drained the gas out of at end of year last year. north of $1,000 machine. Meanwhile, my neighbor has a 15 year old snowblower that he doesn't drain the gas out of and starts first pull every year. His is not a craftsman. I use Rec fuel as well and drain it and this still happens with good old craftsman. I am not looking forward to doing this but you just made my life a million times easier by making this video so thank you! I clicked subscribe as well.

Jan 2023 - Thanks to The G Automotive and More - This was a perfect video. I have a Craftsman 26 Select with exactly the same setup, with exactly the same problem. 1 yr old and only ran for 1 minute a year ago since we had no snow last year. Gunk in the jets. I am not an engine repair guy at all and it took just under 1 hour. There was nothing difficult about this, just follow step by step and familiarize yourself with each move before you make it. I did not have the fuel hose clamp, but used a folded rag in the jaws of Vice Grips to keep from damaging the fuel line. 10mm socket is a must. everything else is just as you see. Thank you for the video.

Thank you so much! Exact problem happened to me ... had used Sta-bil in the tank and guessing it didn't do what it was supposed to. Your video was right on! My snowblower is 28", so was too big for me to bring to a shop and decided to give it a shot. Up and running in about 30 mins.. thanks again!

I just want to say, thank you for this video. I have a similar model and it’s only been used 3 times since 2019. I always run it dry after season.
The only issue I ran into after disassembled and cleaned was a fuel drip between the carb and the engine. I suspect trying to use the old gasket is the issue. Ordered new ones (and apparently a replacement carb) so I’m going to remove and replace them to see if it stops the drip. On a positive note, outside of a drip, it ran fine and the snow that came the day after was taken care of.
Thanks again for this tutorial. Saved me a headache.

Actually a follow up comment. My brother mentioned that simply running the tank empty may not be the best and I should turn off the fuel (I’d have to install a valve shutoff), then let it run dry in the carb. Would that make a different from siphoning the fuel and then running dry from tank?

@@MFD657 I drain the tank and run it until it stalls. Then I set the choke and try to start it again until it won't start anymore.
