    Mario, great video. I just completed the repair, but I didn't take half of the stuff apart that you did. I removed the drive wheel while still on the shaft, removed the bearings on each side, slid the drive wheel off on the right side with a little manuvering and muscle, slid the new drive wheel back on and reassembled it.

    I picked one of these up last summer cheap. The gearbox was trashed (previous owner replaced shear pins with bolts). Fixed that and first snow this year I made two passes then no go. I took the bottom off and the chain on the right pulled the upper shaft down and destroyed one of it's bushings. The drive axle seemed to have about an inch of side to side play. I ended up making spacers for the drive wheels so the axle couldn't shift. It's too bad the blower is such crap because the engine starts easily and has plenty of power. Honda hydrostatic is the way to go if you find a used one that has been maintained.

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a good snow blower, it's unfortunate the previous owner was negligent and what he did with the sheer pins. A lot of people also don't put new lubricant in the gearbox up front. Mine starts on the first pull every time.

    • @dalesworld1308
      @dalesworld1308 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@m3rdpwr Hopefully I'm getting the issues sorted. Mine didn't have the plastic sleeves on the axle - those may have been the 'spacers' that kept the axle fixed. The Briggs 8.5 hp on mine is a strong engine so I want to like this machine.

    Just like my new Ariens platinum 30 that would start slipping everytime I did my hill. Hydro drive is the way to go with a blower. Where is all your snow?

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      First snow two weeks ago was heavy and wet. Took the neighbor's tree down on my house and truck. Ripped the power lines straight from the house and put a hole in the side. Had no power for 3 days. The second storm over 16" Tuesday m melted fast. Heavy trucks destroyed the driveway which is when I forgot with the snow and ripped the skid off from the pit in the driveway. Sorry, about the rant. Are they allowing you to keep the loaner snow blower?!

      Sure been a crazy spring. Still don't know havent called them and they haven't called me. I got alot of hours on the loaner now and hopefully the value is dropping.

    In 14 years when you do this again, use painter's tape and tape that wheel. Leo's the grease and crap off until you're done

      Thanks for the tip. I'd be so lucky if it lasts another 14 years.

    Just so everyone knows, that friction wheel was not that bad. Under the plastic sleeve on the left hand side, there is a plate that he could have moved the cable to a different hole shortening the cable adding more tension on the friction wheel. That and cleaning the friction wheel of excess rubber would have given him all his gears back . It didnt hurt to change the friction wheel, but he could have gotten more use out of it eather way.

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your input. If I remember, although it's a little foggy in my head, I had tightened it where that little cover goes over. However, it had some strange doings maybe it was engaging improperly I don't remember. It could have been the adjustment that had the wheel positioned where along in gear it was, shifter handle?. It could have been those two things, or combination. That is why I replaced the the wheel. It was 13+ years old, so I figured it was due. It has never run better, so I'm pretty happy with the results. Thanks for your input and thanks for watching!

    I could buy this machine for 100 bucks. Is it a easy fix. Parts available for it?

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Parts seem to still be plentiful for this model however, depending on what you need, it could be more difficult to find those parts or repair it. What does the seller claim to be wrong with it

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also saw an identical unit on sale for a few hundred bucks locally to me on Facebook it was a lot more beat up than mine. they are very good solid machines. Some people complain about the Tecumseh motors but I have this snow blower and a 17 year old lawn mower with a Tecumseh engine and they've been pretty well reliable.

      Tecumseh engines are great.... if it needs a new engine a 100 dollar predator would work also

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jamesa6272 it always has more issues than what they say. Trying to find that drive cable could get on the price your side for a cable. If you can clean the carburetor, great. I have purchased knockoff carburetors for 15 bucks on Amazon worst case scenario. If you don't know what condition the gearbox is in, that's a big job. I would actually want to see it running first before buying it.

    You’re killing time not using a cordless impact

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know how much time a cordless impact would have saved me. Maybe 10 minutes 15 minutes. The majority of work was fighting with getting all the parts back into place. It's also important for people to know, that you don't need any fancy tools to do this job. Just a few hand tools that I posted it during the video Thanks for watching.
