My personal opinion, this is Zeppelin's best album...their ability to effortlessly journey into different genres and weird and wonderful song structures..a demonstration of everything that makes them great
That why you love houses of the holy so much. It seems like jimmy arranged the record so every other song is a different genre. Rain song is like a movie score, crunge is funky as hell, dyer maker is reggae and no quarter was in a league of its own at the time
It's a great album. The best of 1970. The band were young and full of confidence. IMHO, it set the tone for mtvs unplugged series in the early 90s. Zepp III is a major work of art.
Yes, Immigrant Song appears in "Thor: Ragnarok." Also spoofed on by Jack Black in "School of Rock." And yes, "Since I've been Loving You" is probably Zep's under-appreciated masterpiece. Never gets airplay, but the work across the board is stellar.
@@JamesKovacic Oh, as soon as he listens to Village Green (if he does) I'll be campaigning for Arthur. It's easily my favourite Kinks album, probably a top 10 album all time for me.
It didnt hit me until my most recent listen to the album, but "Hats Off To Roy Harper's" vocals are meant to emulate how older records from like the 1920's or 30's sounded, like real old blues records and such... combining that with the psychedelic panning common to 60's and 70's stereo records and the complex finger picking its an experiment in establishing the link between old and new... one that i really like a lot.
It sounds exactly with what Robert Johnson was doing, I get why people are not huge fans of that song but I think it’s such an interesting take on that old Delta Blues sound
Good review! 3 is probably my favorite Zeppelin. The super bluegrass, folk, and slightly experimental moments really sell this album for me. Sad you weren’t a big fan of Roy Harper but it is a really strange off putting song even though I like it.
LD 3 is on my top 3 important albums of all time.remembering felt scare and hypnotise by friends when I was 6 and my big brother was lessoning it ...50 years ago
Since I’ve Been Loving You, live at Madison Square Gardens (1973), is one of their greatest live performances. It’s one of my top 2 favorites, they are so amazing doing Blues Rock, well worth watching the live. The lives of the acoustics at Earls Court (1975), actually are better watching them perform them. A nice set of about 3 or 4 of them, songs you might not be as crazy about, end up being better live. Thanks for your reaction.
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS MY GUY a few recommendations: songs - Adrianne Lenker Ghosts of the Great Highway - Sun Kil Moon SMILE :D - Porter Robinson (pop-punk, pop, electronic) Process - Sampha (experimental r&b, great production) Koi No Yokan - Deftones (very heavy, sexier and heavier radiohead imo) Hypochondriac - Brakence (very experimental emo rap, glitch pop) Reading Writing And Arithmetic - The Sundays (the smiths ish, with beautiful female vocals)
Album recs Isaac Hayes - Hot buttered soul 13th Floor elevators - Easter everywhere Nina Simone - Wild is the Wind Spiritualized- Pure Phase Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy Pharoah Sanders - Love In Us All The Microphones - It Was Hot, We Stayed in the Water T-Rex - Electric Warrior
This album is a ten! I’m so glad u listened to this!!! My fav led Zeppelin album ever!!! Also please react to Emergency & I By The Desmemberment Plan🩵🩵
I never understood the "inconsistent" analysis. This album is quite diverse, which is not an issue in itself. Houses of the Holy, their fifth album, is even more diverse and probably because of it not in spite is their best album. Pages playing on this album is stellar from the rocking riffs on The Immigrant Song to the dulcet, lyrical playing on Tangerine and That's the Way to the blues riffs and shifts of Since I've Been Loving You to the crafty, unique riffs/playing on Celebration Day and Out on the Tiles. Again, just a great album from start to finish. Not a weak moment on it, and, yes, if you don't agree, I am a better person for it.
Omg I told you after 2 that you’d like 3 more because it’s got all the best acoustic/chiller songs Time to once again request origin of symmetry by muse :)
You should listen to Big Black - Atomizer sometime soon, I don't see many people reacting to it but the lead singer for Big Black is Steve Albini who worked with and produced albums for many big bands such as Nirvana, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Pixies, and so on. It's a pretty crazy album and I like it really much and I hope you will like it too 🤗 RIP Albini tho
you have choices smags Glenn Branca - The Ascension Cisnienie - Jazz Art Underground Swans - The Great annihilator Bark Psychosis - Hex listen to one of them 🙏
@@MrBaumGeoCool, It’s a little weirder than his EP, but still very mellow and warm sounding. Insignificance on the other hand is his rock album with Jeff Tweedy from Wilco on guitar.
I can see why the hard rock crowd was let down by the second half of this album. Those last few acoustic tracks are just not going to be everybody’s jam, but that should never detract from how perfect the first half is. Immigrant Song & Since I’ve Been Loving You are easily two of the greatest rock songs ever recorded! For my money, Since I’ve Been Loving You contains Jimmy Page’s best guitar solo!
you gotta do their discography at least through houses of the holy before doing their live album “the song remains the same” from msg in 73’ best live album oat. then you absolutely gotta finish their discography after that
please do division bell by pink floyd next 🫶🏻 its my favorite of their albums thats just pure bliss (imo more so than their other albums) this albums just feels like falling through the clouds. not their most popular but insane nonetheless
I know it’s probably annoying to get recommendations all the time and these albums might be controversial suggestions considering the themes and the artists. But these artists are my favorite of all time and I just want to give a suggestion. Sewerslvt - Draining Love Story Heaven’s Emperor - Teenage Poetry
request from a gen alpha girl could do my fav led album ' Houses of the Holy' and pleaase do more bowie my fav album of his 'The man who sold the world ' thxx 🌸

This is my favorite Led Zeppelin album. So many great acoustic songs.
gotta say it's mine too, but it's close between 3, 2 & 4
Tangerine might be my favorite Zeppelin song, it depends on the mood
the kinks are the village green preservation society 🙏
YES
Arthur, Something Else, and Lola too

Something else the best kinks album
@@henrybeetle5223 ngl im not the biggest fan of all the songs on that one but waterloo sunset might be my favourite song of the 60s straight up
Friends is such an amazing song
Jimmy is a master of alternate tuning guitar
I love 3 so much, with the band’s approach with Folk and Country while style keeping their bluesy heavy sound, so much variety on this album.

Should have left that off and included Hey Hey What Can I Do instead.
Good review! 3 is probably my favorite Zeppelin. The super bluegrass, folk, and slightly experimental moments really sell this album for me. Sad you weren’t a big fan of Roy Harper but it is a really strange off putting song even though I like it.
Yeah, "Since I've Been Loving You" is the best blues/rock song of all time.
Tea for One is just as good if not better . Just less well known .
Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left. Perfect Autumn album.
Ive always thought that Bron y aur stomp is the most underrated led zeppelin song of all time. I love it.
