@@Demioch92 maybe you need to do a Zepathon, in the words of Jack Black. His speech for the Kennedy Center Honors to Led Zeppelin is so great. Everyone has to do a Zepathon at least once in their life, you sit your ass in a comfy chair, & you listen to every song on every album PRICELESS! I’d say you can skip CODA, that was an album of songs they had to do after Bonham’s death, so it’s just songs they scrapped. Hey Smags, the Cure's first album in 16 years was just released yesterday. The album's called Songs Of A Lost World. Would love to hear your take on it.
After Led Zeppelin III, critics said people would buy any album with "Led Zeppelin" on the cover. The band's response for Led Zeppelin IV was to not include any reference to the band at all on its cover. It ended up being their biggest album by far
thank you for your videos a few recommendations: songs - Adrianne Lenker (folk, singer-songwriter) Ghosts of the Great Highway - Sun Kil Moon (folk rock, singer-songwriter, alt-country) SMILE :D - Porter Robinson (pop-punk, pop, electronic) Process - Sampha (experimental r&b, great production) Koi No Yokan - Deftones (very heavy, sexier and heavier radiohead imo) Hypochondriac - Brakence (very experimental emo rap, glitch pop) Reading Writing And Arithmetic - The Sundays (the smiths ish, with beautiful female vocals)
some people might’ve mentioned it before, but led zeppelin’s bass player john paul jones was in the band them crooked vultures with josh homme and dave grohl. they have 1 album, it’s definitely worth checking out
Hey Smags, I've been watching your videos for a while now, but didn't request any albums at all. So I would love to see you react to The Fat of The Land by The Prodigy or Cheat Codes by Black Though & Danger Mouse. I consider both of these albums perfect, and I would be very happy if you listen to these as well. By the way, what a great album Led Zeppelin IV is. I have it on CD, absolutely their best record by far.
Hey Smags, during your reaction of Beach House's Bloom, you said at 9:00 you would do a Minecraft lets-play if the video got 300 likes. The video has 876 likes, yet for some reason I can't seem to find your Minecraft let's play (I would also accept a reaction/review of Hot Fuss from the Killers)
What really sucks, none of the comments are about this album. Bonham’s drums for When The Levee Breaks, were setup in the 3 story stairway entrance at an estate called Headley Grange. They setup 2 or 3 microphones at different levels above them, it gave that deep richer sound. That sound has been sampled many times, even at Headley Grange, what was missing for others was Bonham wasn’t playing them. The band members lived for awhile on that estate to eat drink & sleep writing & recording music. The place had no heat or running water, & Page picked the worst bedroom. They narrowed The Rolling Stones mobile recording studio, to do some of the recording. The song Black Dog, was named for a black Labrador, that hug out at the estate with them. Sandy Denny was the only guest singer, on any Led Zeppelin song, & only that one.
Blue is too dynamically limited, despite its excellent songs, for a good introduction album imho. I think this guy would be more impressed by Hejira, or Court and Spark, or Clouds.
recs: Polvo - Today's Active Lifestyles (Sick sounding early 90s math/indie rock, awesome guitar tone) Swirlies - Blonder Tongue Audio Baton (GORGEOUS unique sounding early 90s shoegaze, sounds like mbv, pavement, guided by voices with twee pop mixed in, so awesome, better than Loveless imo) Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes (Unique folk-punk, early 80s college/alt rock, very catchy) Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque (Really catchy power pop, slightly shoegazey, same label as The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine) Quasi - Featuring "Birds" (Awesome Built to Spill-esque/Pacific Northwest indie rock, same label as Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Duster etc) The Breeders - Pod (Unique early 90s alt rock, Steve Albini prod, was in Kurt Cobain's top 3 albums of all time) Slint - Tweez (Sick late 80s post-hardcore/math rock, also Steve Albini prod) Pinback - Pinback (Very chill and creative late 90s indie rock) Modest Mouse - This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About (Amazing album, basically as good as The Lonesome Crowded West) The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land (badass big-beat dance music) Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand (lovely 90's lo-fi) Hella - Hold Your Horse Is (Math Rock with the drummer from Death Grips, before he was in Death Grips) Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (Absolutely perfect 90's indie rock album)
You should definitely check out Presence and In Through Outdoor after the next two. I think those albums are great and shouldn’t be overlooked when checking out Zeppelin.
Homie, you really should check out some Frank Zappa... Apostrophe/Overnite Sensation is a great starting point. I think you'll dig the unrivaled compositions and performances, as well as the social commentary. Truly brilliant stuff. Zappa is the GOAT, never forget!
Man. Whenever someone says Zeppelin IV or dark side of the moon is that band's best album, I roll my eyes. But then I listen to those albums I'm like oh yeah these albums fuck.
Yo Smags, ive been watching your channel for a while, and i'd love to hear you react to albums by Justice one day :) My favorites are Cross, and their latest, Hyperdrama ("Audio, Video, Disco.", and "Woman", their 2 other albums are amazing too!) Also after listening, it would be awesome if you could also maybe check out "Woman Worldwide", which takes mixes from their 2017 live tour, and converts them into studio versions of the mixes!
The key in the timing of Black Dog is in the clicks that John Bonham plays after each verse, before the riff starts. If you listen again closely you can hear them
Oh & they have the album **In Through The Out Door** sorry just had to jot that down as i heard ya list the albums that ya want to listen to k goin in NOW to see/hear your thoughts & feelings on THIS **Magnificent Treasure**
React to LITTLE BUSTERS and Happy Bivouac by The Pillows next! They are both top tier j-rock/grunge albums that I think you will really enjoy. I recommend starting with LITTLE BUSTERS though
D’Angelo’s Black Messiah is obviously a must now that you’ve heard Voodoo. It sounds almost like the polar opposite of Voodoo in the best way possible.
One of my favorite albums from the 70s has to be “D.O.A. The Third and Final Report” by Throbbing Gristle. They were the godfathers of the industrial genre
Physical Graffiti is one of their best, buuuut you should definitely look into their live stuff. How the West Was Won has some of their best live performances available
@ And I certainly respect that! Zep IV is a CLOSE #2 for me! There were just so many phenomenal blues rock bangers on their second album that really pack a punch like, Whole Lotta Love, What is and What Should Never Be, The Lemon Song, Heartbreaker, Living Loving Maid (She’s Just a Woman) and even their folky Ramble On! It’s the #1 Zeppelin album I personally gravitate towards the most

Physical Graffiti is my favorite but all their albums are classics. Great reaction legend!

The Rover is my favorite song by them, granted I don't know a lot of their songs

Yeah, Chad Smith and Roger Taylor went to Headley Grange with the same set up and they failed to replicate the sound. Because neither are John Bonham.

Fun fact: Björk samples when the levee breaks drum in army of me
Levee Breaks drum was sampled by many, many more artists than just her. That beat was nearly inescapable for years. Like Funky Drummer.
