Thanks for checking this out Mark
Looks great. Just purchased it
@@pjzelda75 visuals and stability need some work but it's VERY addictive. Mark
On the wish list, hoping for some visual improvements. I'll probably break down and buy it on Steam by the weekend lol.
If I had to pick a favorite strategy game, it would have to be Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri for PC. My favorite strategy title on Switch is probably not a common pick, it's called Battle Worlds: Kronos and it didn't fare well with critics for some reason. Classic turn based boardgame strategy!
Looks great will keep my eyes on it (and put it on my wish list have to many games right now to play thanks to the past few sales) as for what was my favorite strategy game would be rise of nations
The Switch has some pretty amazing strategy games. Two Point Hospital, Civ, Ancestors Legacy, Northguard, Black Legend, Xcom, Space/Bomber Crew, Fort Triumph and Empire of Sin are some of my favs.
I screenshot this comment to check out those games.
The Merc series is worth a go. One is always around half off
Wargroove is also amazing! 😃👍
Wartile?
@@JoesCaribbeanVanLife literally what I did too… I keep buying other games to play but I just can’t stop playing Civ 6 even after all these years, with the 3 expansions its literally a limitless game
I feel like this is the RTS for switch I've been waiting for, and without this video I likely would've never known about it. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Company of heros is an amazing rts on switch if you're interested.
My favorite strategy game of all time was playing SimAnt on our old Apple computer as a kid. ...build a nest, hatch the different ants types, decide where to place queens, fight giant spiders and other colonies and then you try to overrun someones house. It was amazing! This game looks fun too!
Always look back at The Settlers on my Amiga with a wisp of nostalgia. When you got a settlement just right it was the most tranquil, satisfying game ever.
This has always been on my list as something that I DEFINITELY planned on getting. I am not put off by the visuals as much as some might be with this type of game. Its actually one that I see as made for the Switch. When it comes to strategy games, This War of Mine is at the top for me on the Switch.
The artstyle piqued my interest but the moment you said "at it's heart it's a colonization game" I was instantly sold. I absolutely live for strategy/management games. I have so many in my backlog; all I need is more time to properly invest in them. This game just got put on the wishlist to be added that pile.
Qual de estratégia/gestão você indica?
Reminds me of an apocalyptic Civilization game. I got this for 20 USD for the Switch. Looks fun!
I've been looking hard at this one on Steam, and I'm immediately struck by how ugly it is on Switch. I'm not usually one to notice such things, especially on my Switch, but it looks... really really bad. And it doesn't look more graphically intensive than Civ6, which looks fine.
If I decide to get it, I'd rather have it on Switch to be perfectly honest. But not looking like that and for the price that they're currently asking. I'll wish list it for now.
Yeah that's a good choice it's a very good game but needs some love on switch visually. Mark
The "usual" switch dilemma!
Exactly. Look at Civ, looks and performs flawless.
This title needs a lot of TLC. Crashes, frame rate drops and the graphics, its like looking through a tub of Vaseline.
Wait for a patch or two before diving in. Not even the plants and flowers you plant load up. Just an outline of them. Think it is not loading correctly.
To be fair, I get that Civ is a AAA franchise with a huge budget, but this title is being presented on the platform at a AA price point so the comparison isn't entirely unfair. Graphics are the last thing I look at in strategy titles, but if I'm to spend a few dozen hours playing something I need the experience to not be visually painful. Even Tropico 6 looked much better at launch than this.
@@retroxify oh yeah totally forgot about Tropico.
Yes, that looked good at launch, and had way more detail. I agree their budget might be lower, but on PC and other consoles it looks good. Paradox toned down the graphics a little too much on the Switch to be honest, like they where not sure the Switch could handle it?! Not sure. 16 hours so far, and hurts my eyes after a while. Just need a bit more detail, and remove the Vaseline look as well. Love these kinds of games, and it is a shame it launched with so many issues.
I laughed so hard at the note the children left 😂 this game looks so interesting. I think I’ll pick this up when it’s on sale (or maybe earlier bc I’m itching to play it)!
Lol it was really unexpected! Mark
Needs a performance patch for frame rate and constant crashing, and the graphics are horrible, it's like they are not loading. It's like looking through a tub of Vaseline. Not even the plants you plant load, there is nothing there.
Not good, and no excuse as we have Civ, atom, dying light, northgard etc which all look and perform flawless on the Switch. This however, is a wait to they patch and upscale the graphics if they ever do fix it.
Added: the static bar at the top and bottom freaks me out, as it may burn an image into the OLED Switch. Hopefully they can make it hide when not used.
Definitely needs a patch visually. There's a lot to like here so I'm hoping they do. They did indicate a patch was in the works. Mark
@@SwitchUpYt oh, I love these kinds of games, and put in about 16 hours so far, probably why I am so upset about the performance and crashes. The visuals as well, is a shame, I know the Switch can run more powerful games then this and look good at the same time, so hopefully they tweak the graphics.
Oh that is awesome that they are working on a patch. Fingers crossed it fixes some, if not all these issues.
Favourite strategy game? Command and Conquer: Red Alert. Used to play it for hours against my brother by connecting the home PC to my dads work laptop with a printer serial cable. All while listening to Ministry of Sound Trance compilations!
Finally on Switch. Amazing. Should be more Paradox game available to us.
Jagged Alliance 2 is my favourite strategy game of all time. Best characters, humour, items and gameplay mechanics.
Well fudge I misread title. Thought a fallout game was coming to switch, lmao. New Vegas needs a modern remaster. This game looks pretty decent too though. Why I like this channel. Always show me games I might like that I would have never found on my own
Ah sorry I didn't mean to get your hopes up! Mark
@@SwitchUpYt not your fault man, lmao. I just need to slow down and read more carefully. Thanks for the content!
Yes i wish Microsoft and Bethesda would bring fallout 3 n new Vegas to switch maybe they did let ori come to switch n some other things but right now fallout 3 n new Vegas on xbox backwards compatibility has a new fps boost it amazing right now
@@Sun-dq2po Bethesda never will because obsidian made FO3NV..and honestly I think it pisses Bethesda off the one game they licenced out to be made is far more fondly remembered then theirs. It would be amazing though.
Don't worry I did the same! Great video though.
Wow i'm really impressed by the nuanced and meaningful depth this game has...only even after watching just this one video😱
looks cool, just hope there's no stuttering or massive lag spikes in docked mode. A lot of 3rd party games lately seem to suffer from small annoyances like this that buildup over the course of your playtime.
It's pretty unstable at the moment. Need that next patch
It's annoying that the physical copy isn't out until January, still looking forward to playing it though 👍
Don't really know why I love it so much or even how it got on my radar, as it seems to barely have a following and is not everyone's cup of tea. But I absolutely love all of the Spellforce 3 games on PC. Part RPG part RTS tons of fun!
I just purchased Ruined King: A League of Legends Story (a disappointment so far, the game is so blurry, there is lagging in dungeons, frame drops... etc, quite lacklustre compared to Battle Chasers Night War ) and was actually curious about this one! Haven't finished Northgard yet (probably won't finish it) but it looks like I could replace it with Surviving the Aftermath. Looking forward to the full review!
I don't really play strategy games but I might have to try this one it looks really good
Probably showing my age a bit but I really loved KKND back in the day on PC!
Just scrolling through the comments on this. KKND Jesus what a game. I vaguely remember playing that when I was about 4. Which was probably far too young lol
If Civilization & Settlers had a baby.
I'm a fan.
My favorite strategy/tactile games will always be Disgaea, it's one of my all time favorite series anyways, so having almost all of them on switch and portable is amazing. They were great on vita and even better on switch with the bigger screen. The humor, artstyle, and gameplay are just a perfect combination for epic hours of entertainment.
bought it after watching your video, battle for middle earth 1 and 2 are amazing games that went a bit under the radar, the modding scene is still active and does incredible work.
Feels a bit like rimworld, Sign me up!
Looks good. Would love some games like starcraft, warcraft 2 and dawn of war too
Looking forward to the official review as it seems up my alley so far. Just a matter how the late game feels.
Yeah, always wait for the full review
@@SwitchUpYt can you cover how it looks/plays on handheld or switch lite. worried the game/ui might be too small to be fun/playable on lite
I will be checking this out! Thanks for the video!
It's not looking too shabby on the Switch at all. I've played since the early access on the pc, I get addicted to games like this and games (films, tv) set in an apocalyptic setting is a niche I particularly love. The looks of a game, as many of us know, can be a bit give and take, it's the gameplay that keeps us hooked :)
This one wasn't on my radar before, but it is now! Will have to give it a look. As for my favorite strategy game, I'm not sure if it counts, but Two Point Hospital is one I've sunk many hours into. Love that game.
This looks like fun. Totally gonna pick this one up. I miss playing good RTS games. I loved Army Men RTS for PS2. speaking of... that'd be a cool switch port.
I just got this game. I noticed the font letters are small and hard to read even when I put the game on my TV. I can't figure out the buttons on how to get villagers building things. I send a guy out then I can't move him anymore. I looked at the control map and it wasn't much help. I'm new to this kind of genre. 😢
Thanks this looks good. Put it on my wishlist via your link. Looking forward to your website getting American links. Grateful for channel.
Having read the comments below. I’ll await for an All Patched up before I spend on this.
Will go for physical version.
this looks right up my street so looking forward to the full review. As for my favourite strategy game, well I ploughed hours of my life on Sim City back in the day but I am loving Stellaris at the moment
My favourite strategy game would probably be Fire Emblem Three Houses, it was fun and being able to play it in different ways each playthrough was amazing.
After watching this, I noticed it was similar to another post-apocalyptic on PC and Xbox, I'm not sure if it was on PS4, called Frostpunk, while that is slightly different to this game, and obviously not the same, some of the things you have to look similar. I enjoyed Frostpunk, and I probably will be picking this up at at later date. Hopefully we'll get more of these in the future, as I love strategy games, and RTS. Which you don't often see enough off
I really got stuck into overcooked 2 last winter. A friend and myself really enjoyed it until we started playing it strategically, or should I say, unsuccessfully. Overall, was a top game to complete that brings nothing but laughs now.
This looks really interesting, and I love the artstyle of the characters! I’m just hesitating because I never managed to get into Age of Empires. I tried it years ago after Caesar 3, which I was addicted to, but I didn’t like Age of Empires nearly as much and I think it was because it had much more micromanagement. Surviving the Aftermath seems to have a lot of micromanagement as well, but I’m so tempted to give it a try anyway and see if my tastes have changed…
As for my favourite strategy game, I would say it’s definitely Fire Emblem Three Houses. It’s the most played game on my Switch (over 550 hours!) and I haven’t even played all the routes yet! ^^;
Looks really interesting. I love post apocalyptic settings for games. And the price seems right. Maybe a Christmas present for me. 🎄
Man i always wanted a game like this, a mix of city building, 4x and survival and a teeny tiny bit of rpg elements
I'll wait when its over 50% off
Command & Conquer Red Alert, blasting out Hells March and annihilating friend and foe alike with the nuke and Ion Cannon at the ready
My favorite would have to be my first, Civ2. I spent so many late nights on that one and multi-player was great.
Edit: And purchased.
Civ2 is still the best Civ! All-nighters with friends on LAN are some of my best memories.
@@retroxify I know, right? I haven't had nights like that with any other civ.
Just sent for the physical-thanks for the review!
Looks great. 1 for the future maybe. Thanks for your efforts Mark, See Ya!
Honestly now I want this game. I love paradox
I really like dystopian games so I was pumped about buying Surviving the Aftermath on GOG but no dice, only Steam 😓
CivNet which came bundled with my 1995 Packard Bell PC. Didn't have the internet 26 years ago so played offline.
Looks awesome! Sorry if I missed this in the video- did anyone catch if there is/will be a physical version coming to switch?
Xcom/ Xcom2 are still my fav strategy games
I really hope this get a favourable review. I'd love to play Skyrim again, but it's just so expensive on the Switch. Fallout would be amazing, but I don't think it's gonna happen, so this maybe my next big purchase.
First time I'm seeing this game, wish Switch had a lot more strat/management games
This looks right up my alley! Amazing!
Is this a docked only game due to the small text or is it scalable? Thanks.
Wait for the full review mate, it needs patches
@@SwitchUpYt Will do. Thanks so much for getting back to me.
I can’t really say how many hours I spend playing Age of Empire 2 back in the day, but I gather it was around the thousands, so yes, I would say that’s my favorite strategy game!
Thanks for the video and all the hard work, guys.
Thank you mate! AOE 2 was so damn good. Would love to have that on Switch! Mark
My favorite strategy game is Advance Wars, sadly is got delayed till next summer, hopefully for the better. I wanna definitely check this game out but how does it run. That’s my biggest question.
Into the Breach is unbelievably addicting yet also challenging. It's my favorite strategy title on the Switch!
(Gimme the game... Please ;)
It looks like this was built in the same engine as Railway Empire.
This game definitely peeks my interest I’m glad I follow this channel and see these games that I might have never heard of or even thought about looking at
Age of Empires and The Settlers, that takes me back. Really looking forward to this one. Hope it plays well and gets nicely patched.
Good game
Needs patching for sure
How's performance on there?
kinda feels like 'Last day on Earth' mechanics. the only diff is u gotta build an a settlement vs going solo
Can't wait to try this one out, though I definitely plan on getting a physical release
Total war Rome with hearts of iron 3 in a very close second. I've probably put like 600 hours or so into both of those games combined.
Fall out and settlers 😮, let’s hear more
You had me at Fallout and strategy. 😀
This game looks amazing, thanks for showing!
Buying it now. Thanks guys!
Cool, it needs a bit of TLC in the stability department but it's so addictive. Mark
This game is really fun, but I regret getting it on switch. It chugs so hard it's not enjoyable. Textures are constantly popping in and out of view as you pan around the settlement. Nearly every time I've saved and quit to menu it just crashes. Things like plants that you place for settlers happiness won't show up at all. I bought it on launch day and I'm currently playing ver. 1.21.1 and it's not any better, visually or performance wise. I hope they can fix it, but it's alot to fix.
I tried to mention in the video here that stability and visuals need work. Thankfully, there are patches on the way. Mark
How is it now?
Still waiting on xcom enemy unknown to come to Switch lol
Getting FALLOUT 3 ported to switch would be nice..
Been watching Raptor play this and it looks awesome but I never thought I’d see this on Switch
This looks like a lot of fun, combination of several games I love to play.
I’ll definitely be picking this one up
Edit: just dropped 30$ for it.. hopefully This’ll stop me from playing D2R so much
can the game actually use full touch screen for the game?
Hey guys. This looks an interesting game. Desperate for a command and conquer game. This seems like it might scratch the itch a little bit.
Would’ve loved to see your take on ‘Ice Station Z’
I really like this war of mine, this looks like a pretty good time, would be even cooler with touch controls
I don't think this game is in Australia if wrong please tell me
I was mulling over buying this one but I thought I best wait on your review
sounds fun but it depends on the price, for me. i don't have a ton of extra scratch kickin around.
This is my type of game!! Will definitely be picking this up ! To Dan merry Christmas from Dan 😂
Please do another e shop sale video some very nice discounts have just launched over night, Skyrim, dragon quest: 24 pound and even a newer game on sale for 16 pound: lost in random. Would love to watch a video tailored to todays eshop sale. :)
Has certainly piqued my interest and will await the upcoming review.
This looks decent! I have plenty games to be on with now plus I have a feeling there’s some sales on the horizon 🧐
Who turned off the textures?
I have to say Age of Empires 2 I played so much. Absolutely loved it. Favorite nation was the Aztecs, I played their campaign so many times. "So spoke Cuauhtemoc, Jaguar warrior of Tenochtitlan"
Pretty cool but I’ll wait for a sale for this one
I was really looking forward to this game but once i downloaded it, it looked so bad that i just couldnt enjoy it. I dont care about visuals usually but man its just off putting, it takes the fun away if you can hardly see whats in your world. They look straight up blurry almost. Even switching it to the tv it looks bad. Tbh i wish i could get a refund it wasnt worth it. Ill stick to civ for now and hopefully they patch it to look better down the road so i can play this game.
I was looking forward to this. Haven't been able to find any Switch reviews, which seems odd. All I can find is the occasional comment from someone who bought it (and there aren't positive). Really hoping it gets patched.
@@nozzle-d503 Me too, been close to buying it physically but can’t find out if it’s improved or not. 😫
Just picked up Xcom2 in the sale, so this would have to wait, plus pokemon today :)
How about the scale of the letters? Small?
I’d wait for the review :D
Is there a pause button??
Definitely picking this up 💝
👍
Looks like a good game - will have to see about snagging it
This looks like a definite pickup. I was sold when it was on the coning soon video and now definitely need it.
Also age of empires and command and conquer were the best strategy games in my eyes. I almost cried when I booted up the remaster of Red Alert and was greeted with "Welcome back commander" middle aged man tears 😢
Loved making maps for Red Alert 2 back in the day as well. Simpler times lol
Poo poo head, lol! The game definitely looks intriguing though. I never a minded a game lacking graphical flare just as long as it was fun.
There is zero instructions on how to gather resources... or at least I can see/find it.
You just stick your buildings down and they auto gather. Mark
Or you can manually make your specialists gather
