As someone that has been making mods for BGS games since Morrowind the differences between the engines since Oblivion aren't that large. You can quickly port objects between them without too much effort, and remember that I'm talking about doing it with tools that modders have created. The tools that BGS would have would be even easier to use. Don't let the names of the versions of the engine fool you. The underlying structure of the engine has remained mostly the same with other things being upgraded to make it look and feel more modern.
It's true that Skyrim used the Creation Engine. So did Fallout 4, but they didn't bother porting it to Switch. Maybe with the "next-gen update"? That would be a cool little surprise. As other people have pointed out, Creation Engine is a fork of Gamebyro, so a path *is* there, but honestly we're about at the point I hope there are remasters or full-on remakes of Fallout 3 & New Vegas being quietly worked on. (Fallout 76 also uses Creation Engine, while Starfield is said to use Creation Engine 2.)
76 actually uses a propitary build of Creation made by a outsourced company, it actually fixes a bunch of legacy bugs the engine had - like tying frame rate to the physics.
FO4 on the base PS4 & XB1 somewhat struggled to maintain stable framerates, downtown and overly built settlements require more processing than the switch is capable of without melting
The creation engine is the gamebryo engine, just with a few behind the scenes updates and updates to the animations and face tech. This is why people are able to mod bethesda games before mod tools were released, you just have to trick starfield/skyrim/fallout 4 into thinking a mod made in the oblivion or fallout 3 version of the editor is made for starfield/skyrim/fallout 4.
Make a combo pack of FO3 and NV with a Switch-exclusive vault and a couple new weapons. I love Fallout, and wouldn't mind playing a shite version just for the novelty of having it on Switch.
I dont recall who said it but Bethesdas Legacy Titles will remain multiplatform. Skyrim is on Switch and i think to capitalize on the popularity of the Fallout TV show Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas should be ported to Switch at the very least. Or do a collection of Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas but include all dlc for each game.
The reason it was a mistake not to port one of the Fallout games to Switch (if possible - I know 3 has trouble running on some current PCs) before the show, is that whereas they are selling many copies of Fallout games for like $2 on Steam right now, for whatever reason you can charge $30-60 for a re-release on Switch and people will still buy it.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas need a remastered or a major update. I remember a couple of years ago, it was hard for me to boot up the vanilla game of Fallout 3.
@snowhawkthorne630 I don't think so, I think Fallout 3 was patch in 2021, so I assume it opens up with no issues now. Back in the day, I had to use some .dll file from the internet just to get the game to boot up.
Leaked Microsoft documents that came from the FTC during the Activision acquisition hearings showed that remasters of Oblivion and Fallout 3 were in the works.
Creation Engine is just an upgraded version of Gamebyro. There is no real reason not to have it ported, other than they would have to deal with some bugs and porting issues. I assume they dont want to do it due to effort and money. Fallout 76, for example, still had bugs that existed since Morrowind in 2001. So its just the same engine with things updated.
With the resurgence of the player base coming back to Fallout 4, New Vegas and even 76, I do think theres a chance Bethesda might consider this uproar to potentially release them on Switch, or even a triple bundle on Switch and its successor. 3, NV and 4 coming to Switch would be and sounds epic and not out of the picture because they even released a Next Gen patch for Fallout 4, due to the resurgence of the Fallout IP thanks to the show.
They didn't make Fallout 3 and New Vegas on an engine from 1997. Would you say the same about Unreal Engine? It began development in 1995. Engines evolve over time and are constantly changing. Gamebryo was known as Netimmerse up until the early 2000s before it was rebranded to Gamebryo. Bethesda even used the Gamebryo engine as the base of the Creation Engine. This was a common practice as well. For example, Valve used the Quake engine as a base for what would become the Source Engine. Even though Creation Engine was based on Gamebryo, today's iteration of it has no original code from Gamebryo left in it. Because, like I said, engines are constantly changing and the Creation Engine has been stripped down and rebuilt at least 2 times now since Skyrim so all of the bugs are on Bethesda at this point.
You know what it would be cool? Bethesda doing the same FO3 trailer they did ages ago but instead of the camera zooming out on the radio, it zoomz out on the Switch. A teaser like that would be perfect!
Sales numbers didn't really prove it won't, Bugthesda really hated it until Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. Skyrim was a runnaway succes so that makes sense that it will eventually be ported to a smartphone if possible. Hopefully THQ Nortic will but them and remake them on the unity engine or something.
Does anyone else remember around the time skyrim released on switch there was a rumour about a fallout collection releasing on switch in the future? I remember a few youtubers talked about it and reddit went crazy
I had an idea for a fallout switch game specifically so people can enjoy the classic ones but easier controls. gameplay wise sort of top down almost zelda, animal crossing or the classic original fallout games, but with graphics similar to links awakening (so they look like plastic toys or something) maybe in the fallout shelter fully customisable cartoon characters art style just 3d. I got the idea from my fallout inspired acnh character I could imagine a little plastic pip boy on their wrist. Keeping a customisable house or settlement. Good way to bring back the old games gameplay style but with easier controls and more accessible for casual or beginner gamers.
I been asking myself the same ever since I got the console. Theres no other game I want more on the Switch than Fallout 3 or New Vegas. I hope the series finally pushes them to release them.
All I want is fallout 3 and New Vegas in a pack on switch. They would run fine. But it's just on the list of countless other games I want on switch but probably won't come out. I would love the Naruto ultimate ninja ps2 series on switch but that's never coming out 😂
I suspect ports/ remakes are currently in progress as the next Bethesda game is TES VI, with a provisional release date of 2026 meaning the next Fallout is many years away. Whether any come to the Switch is another matter entirely.
Tbh i would like fallout for the switch besides fallout shelter i don't have any of the new playstations or xbox and would like to get into the franchise like i did with doom
The good thing is that 3 and NV are availlable on Xbox. It would be a shame to not have them on current gen consoles at all due to the lack of care and laziness Bethesda shows towards almost their entire library of great classic games that arent Skyrim. In contrast I really appreciate Microsoft's rational and responsible approach to keeping games accessible.
When it comes to "but it should be on Switch" I limit that to "would the Switch run it reasonably well in handheld mode". I don't see this applying to Fallout. And that's okay - I don't especially want to play Fallout on the go. Some games are simply better suited to a TV experience and if you're going to go for the TV experience, you want something that isn't designed to be run on an handheld. Does that make sense? Rather than port beg what would no doubly be a heavily compromised version of Fallout 4 or 76 to Switch, I would much rather port beg something that should totally be a thing - like a Switch version of the Gamecube classic Nintendo Puzzle Collection. Why isn't THAT a thing?! Or NES Remix.
60 million copies was across 360, Xbox One, PC, Steam, Switch, and anywhere else I might be forgetting. 12 each for F3 and New Vegas are just 360 and PC. If they had done the same, the numbers could’ve been closer. Plus: they have a grand opportunity to rerelease them with some cleaner textures, bonus content, creation club, and mods? It would KILL.
The big ol' "comparatively" at 4:23 got a hearty chuckle out of me. Bethesda games are fun, but man, they are definitely an experience in a not-entirely-positive way.
No wayyyyy, peering behind a Bethesda game reveals mostly duck tape, exposed wires, suspicious vibrations, mysterious liquids, and what you hope is just steam?
I don't understand this. There are so many ports that I think would be perfect for the switch. Switch to me has always kind of felt like a portable Xbox 360. So I'm always amazed that some of the best games from that generation don't have a port for it. Especially when sometimes it's still outperforms that generation and was able to run playable versions of something like Doom Eternal. Although every now and then it also seems to underperform in comparison but I can't imagine it wouldn't be able to run three and New Vegas.
Hey my wife loves fallout as well! I started a fallout 2 d20 tabletop game and she decided to play, and fell in love, and then started playing the fallout games! It was really sweet to see her show interest in my hobbies!
People talking about FO being on Switch But it hasn't even been properly ported on modern consoles. I can't play it without using a cloud streaming service
For years now, I have waited on three series to come to Nintendo switch. The Batman, Arkham games, the metal gear, solid games, and fallout. We have two out of three.🙏
After a huge game like The Witcher 3 got ported to the Switch, I find that game companies can't make excuses about the Switch's hardware anymore. It mostly all boils down to industry politics.
I'm not sure why Fallout 4's high fidelity would be a point of consideration when Witcher 3 did have a switch port, and that game has just as much, and probably more cutscenes and dialog, and cities that are super dense.
Creation is just a heavily modified Gamebryo.. they could get them working on Switch with a little bit of work. Maybe they’ll outsource ports to a different studio to capitalize on the show getting a lot of new people interested in the series (and the next mainline game being years and years away.)
Years ago when my switch collection wasn't as large I had a long list of games from the 6th and 7th gaming gen that I wanted on the switch. But now that I have a giant backlog of switch games I'm kind of indifferent to ports. If they release a quality port then great but if not then I'll just go play something else.
Fallout 4 on the Switch would have been amazing, especially if they did Nintendo-themed exclusive items like Bethesda did with Skyrim, where it had Breath of the Wild gear. Fallout 4 could have had a Vault Jumpsuit that was reskinned like Samus' Zero Suit, and Power Armor parts resembling her Power/Varia/Gravity suits, and they could be modified to add Hi Jump Boots and versions of the Screw Attack or a Speed Booster that let you sprint through enemies to shred them apart.
Honestly it's better on Steamdeck because you can install mods to fix all the bugs, improve the game, and use stuff like A Tale of Two Wastelands to have a much better experience than the vanilla versions would be on switch

@abbywilliams9633it sucked less then Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 .Good was just FallOut 1 ,2 and NewVegas....FallOut 3 was just Ok couse BugTester didnt even understood really the IP if they buyed it😬
"Quiet you!"

@@KnowToChill…. One of those huh😒
I just wanna know WHY Geometry Wars isn’t on Switch yet. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
Hell yeah, I would like that
Geometry Survivor is the next best thing, IMO. Wars would definitely be awesome on the Switch though.
@@neoprime33 I'm getting it now, thanks
As someone that has been making mods for BGS games since Morrowind the differences between the engines since Oblivion aren't that large. You can quickly port objects between them without too much effort, and remember that I'm talking about doing it with tools that modders have created. The tools that BGS would have would be even easier to use. Don't let the names of the versions of the engine fool you. The underlying structure of the engine has remained mostly the same with other things being upgraded to make it look and feel more modern.
I want the whole saga!
Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas…
Congrats on getting married Alex!!!
I'd rather have 76 on switch
76 actually uses a propitary build of Creation made by a outsourced company, it actually fixes a bunch of legacy bugs the engine had - like tying frame rate to the physics.
Having Fallout games on the switch would be awesome and I hope with the popularity of the show this will become a reality.
FO4 on the base PS4 & XB1 somewhat struggled to maintain stable framerates, downtown and overly built settlements require more processing than the switch is capable of without melting
FO4 would be a bit of a stretch but FO3 and Vegas would run just fine.
No exclusive stuff please
No exclusive stuff please
I dont recall who said it but Bethesdas Legacy Titles will remain multiplatform. Skyrim is on Switch and i think to capitalize on the popularity of the Fallout TV show Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas should be ported to Switch at the very least. Or do a collection of Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas but include all dlc for each game.
It would be soooo cool to have all bethesda games on nintendo switch.
I'm playing fo3 on PC rn and I'm so sad it's not on the switch :(
We really need Fallout 1 and 2 on Switch. Wasteland 2 and Shadowrun Trilogy are on Switch and similar style.
According to Bethesda, the same creation engine was a slightly modified version that they used for skyrim.
I believe we'll be getting a remaster or faithful remake of FallOut 3 this year to capitalize on the series since F5 is likely still a decade out
Fallout 3 and New Vegas need a remastered or a major update. I remember a couple of years ago, it was hard for me to boot up the vanilla game of Fallout 3.
does fallout 3 still use games with windows? new vegas is pretty easy to use on PC at the moment
I’ve been playing new Vegas and a little bit of fo3 on Xbox series x. Been working perfectly, try that maybe
@WickedlyChill I think they patched the game on PC in 2021
Creation Engine is just an upgraded version of Gamebyro. There is no real reason not to have it ported, other than they would have to deal with some bugs and porting issues. I assume they dont want to do it due to effort and money.
Fallout 76, for example, still had bugs that existed since Morrowind in 2001. So its just the same engine with things updated.
I would be happy with Fallout 1 and 2 on the Switch.
well here's hoping the show is the push we need to get Fallout 3 and New Vegas on the Switch.
Oh dear god please
There is a literal petition to bring the fallout games to switch
Switch can run Skyrim, Switch could easily run Fallout 4
3 and New Vegas on switch has sounded like a no-brainer for awhile now. Hopeful to see them someday
You know what it would be cool? Bethesda doing the same FO3 trailer they did ages ago but instead of the camera zooming out on the radio, it zoomz out on the Switch. A teaser like that would be perfect!
Patroling the mojave almost makes you wish for a switch release
Sales numbers didn't really prove it won't, Bugthesda really hated it until Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. Skyrim was a runnaway succes so that makes sense that it will eventually be ported to a smartphone if possible. Hopefully THQ Nortic will but them and remake them on the unity engine or something.
How could you forget about Fallout Shelter? That's my favorite game in the series!! 😃
Does anyone else remember around the time skyrim released on switch there was a rumour about a fallout collection releasing on switch in the future? I remember a few youtubers talked about it and reddit went crazy
Morrow wind was so buggy, it was hard just getting it to run on certain machines.
New Vegas and Skyrim run on the same engine. Skyrim is one of the most ported games of all time.
Fallout 3 and new Vegas would make crazy sales on the switch
waiting for fallout on switch was actually what pushed me to buy a steamdeck
Skyrim is practically ancient now and it's STILL $60 on switch. I got the newest edition with DLC's on Playstation for $30. Makes no sense.
Big shocker Skyrim sold more when they re-released it a billion times
Nintendo managed to port the original super mario bros to switch. New Vegas should not be a problem.
Bethesda games are fun, but man, they are definitely an experience in a not-entirely-positive way.
its good news that the S.t.a.l.k.e.r series is coming though
No wayyyyy, peering behind a Bethesda game reveals mostly duck tape, exposed wires, suspicious vibrations, mysterious liquids, and what you hope is just steam?
It Would Be a really Good time to release it on switch Since everyone's in a fallout mood thanks to the show.
People talking about FO being on Switch
But it hasn't even been properly ported on modern consoles. I can't play it without using a cloud streaming service
Just put the disk in the console. It costs like 3 dollars
@Digger_Nick60 PS5 doesn't have backwards compatibility with PS3/PS2
@@TheLeetCasualGamer get the next gen update in 3 days
@@TheLeetCasualGamer rip
Both FO3 & NV have HDR & 60fps boost on Xbox S/X consoles and run immaculately
Its modern bethesda, so they kind of have an unspoken grudge against New Vegas. Obsidian built this in a cave with a box of scraps!
Year seven of begging for Fallout 3 on Nintendo Switch 😔
For years now, I have waited on three series to come to Nintendo switch. The Batman, Arkham games, the metal gear, solid games, and fallout. We have two out of three.🙏
After a huge game like The Witcher 3 got ported to the Switch, I find that game companies can't make excuses about the Switch's hardware anymore. It mostly all boils down to industry politics.
There are so many old games that have been ported to the Switch like the Star Wars ones & they've surely been made using older engines
I understand that Fallout 4 would not work on Switch, but 3 and New Vegas would be PERFECT for it...
Metro, Skyrim AND doom '16 but no fallout, big sad 😭
These games deserve at least remasters
And this is why PC Handhelds will have a leg up compared to the Switch 2 (whenever it releases), more variety.
Correction: Creation engine is the "next"/updated version of Gamebryo, created by Bethesda. Not an entirely new engine.
Fallout 3 & new vegas & 4 on switch for 20€ = big money ❤😊
unlike everybody else, I kinda wanna see fallout one and two on switch Instead. those games deserve more love and attention, and they are legendary.
I would definitely love to get fallout 3,NV, And 4 for the switch
They pretend the switch was a phone.
I'm not a BIG Fallout fan but Fallout would be rad on the Switch, 64 and the Wii.
Woooof.. A 64 version of fallout 1 & 2 would have been rough 😂😂 there's a reason games like that didn't really appear on the console
Honestly it's better on Steamdeck because you can install mods to fix all the bugs, improve the game, and use stuff like A Tale of Two Wastelands to have a much better experience than the vanilla versions would be on switch
playing fallout 3 and fallout NV on Steam Deck is a dream come true for playing these games from my middle school days on a handheld
Thank you so much. I’ve been asking this question for a while I was even like how can tears of the kingdom run on a switch but not an old fallout game but now you’ve made so much sense and yes, I wish they would just go ahead and fix it up and sell it on the switch I wanna play fallout new Vegas on the go
I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to play Fallout on the Switch. I just got the OLED recently and I was REALLY, EXTREMELY Heartbroken to Not find any Fallout Games. I would MOST DEFINITELY Buy it if they put it out.
Fallout 3 and fallout new vegas is being emulated as x86 to arm for android for windows emulators like termuxbox, winlator, and wow64
More irritated that Switch doesn't have Mass Effect...
Yeah, there are not much EA games on Switch.
There are rumors that EA and Nintendo had some fallout during the Wii U time, but nothing has been really confirmed.
If it can play no mans sky and skyrim and ark it should be able to atleast handle 3 and NV
It's astounding how much games sell on the switch just because folks just want a portable version to play without buying a steam deck (or just because they already have a switch).
Fallout 3 and New Vegas would have sold a good buck. Especially now but we won't see it unfortunately...
