It’s changed a lot since I played it almost 2 years ago, not just better looking but the progression system is way better than it was, it makes more sense as you research the stuff you need right now. It’s quite exciting to unlock a whole new system and then scavenge the parts to implement it, especially when you have been out on the world map with a few other guys and come back with a car full of goodies. The combat is way better, not amazing but it does enough to make you feel that you are being invaded as you scrap it out at the gate and if the gate falls you sound the general quarters alarm and all hell breaks loose.
I did not show everything in the video, I saved some for the people that buy the game such as the end structure and the brutal magnetic storms. I know these games are not for everyone but they make a real nice break from the last week playing COD and BF, I would say that though as these City building survival games are becoming my favourite genre, I have covered loads this year.

Mack, you've have to play Escape From Tarkov. Yes it's in Beta, but damn, you just can't play another military shooter without thinking about it anymore. Non-pleb, PC elitist gameplay.
@@sly7213 I'm pretty sure mack hates the developer of tarkov for several reasons. He has covered it before...
I trust you Mac, even sponsored videos :D On top of that, Fallout 1 was an ALL TIME FAV and this looks like it's almost a settlement simulator from that game. 👍
Speaking of CoD... you did say you wanted to make a follow up video on it the next day, but it has been over a week.
I have taken a look at this game when one of my friends was playing it. I rather stick with Rimworld or check out what's new in Going Medieval.
Thanks so much for giving it another look Mack!
Thank you for a great game !!
You guys always have killer games! Keep up the great work paradox!
@Ramzan
You know they're going to screw it up. Streamlining, censorship, and revisionist propaganda is what you have to look forward to.
Can't wait to see Victoria 3 covered here. Also why not get Mack to try Victoria 2 first? Would be a good move.
@Ramzan and make EU4 work with 1440p
Mack is pretty much the only TH-camr I trust with a sponsored video.
You shouldn’t
Great review Mack, glad paradox invited you to do this. Looks indeed as if they have made huge changes for the better, I will put this on my shopping list now!
They approached him to do a Stellaris vid I seem to remember some time ago.
Respect for not saying it is or isnt worth a buy, because its a sponsored video and you cant say if it is or isn't fairly. Thats why I subscribe, because you do things properly
I mean, he did nothing but give praise the whole time and barely even MENTIONED that there are bugs. He did everything except give the thumbs up.
@@Joze1090 why the hate? seems like in your eyes only mack gets paid sponsors an he shouldnt
@@Joze1090 try check out the act man making sponsored video about New world and he gets absolutely blasted, cuz he done it wrong (paid sponsor video)
@@Joze1090 been playing 5 hours and no bugs yet for me on ps5
@@Joze1090 9:08 he mentions a few bugs... and a few other things he suggested to the devs.
Wow, Mack actually got sponsored for a video! Cudos to Paradox for giving a proper and honest reviewer a chance!
We all know Paradox makes great games, but giving Mack a sponsored video shows they REALLY trust their stuff!!!!
Great one , Mac
So long as it remains honest, sponsored videos should be done more often to help out the channel and yourself
If somebody gets paid, they're biased by definition. This is like journalism 101.
Seemed fair to me, Mack isn’t the type of bloke to lie for a few quid.
@@techtipsuk depends what a few quid is, money change ppl.
I love discovering new games through this channel, it’s a godsend.
Anyone else wondering what happened to the new COD rant?
Mack, you are one of the only ones that deserve the sponsored videos. You are honest and we know it. Thanks for being honest :)
I just picked up the game yesterday, and so far it's a great and relaxing game. EXACTLY what we need in this Buggs Bunny crazy world right now. It reminds me of the first Sim City where I just sat in front of the screen for hours vegging out to creative and inventive fun.
"Don't eat rabbit...yet" :)
Oh Mack...poor rabbit!
If i ever want to buy a game or need info before buying, your the guy i come to, your a king mate, thank you for taking the time to review games, it really gives me the yes or no answer within a few minutes.
Mack have you played Battlefield early access or Halo infinite open beta yet?
He's going to have to buy a new bell after reviewing Battlefield
@@StephenUnderwood he's going to need more than one
@@KillerGoat86 more like a church one!
Imho, as bad as battlefield disappointed me, I’m glad that halo infinite is shaping up to be great so win some lose some I guess
I plan on binging the halo beta once I'm off work. Heard good things
Surviving the Aftermath and Endzone A World Apart are both solid entires into the post-apocalypse city building genre. I prefer Aftermath over Endzone, it feels more laid back and chill. But I love Endzone's building explorations.
Enjoy some time off, Mack.
Excellent review!! Thank you for bringing this game back into the fold again!
Hi Mack, love your videos. You have a great sense of humour and you can really do great video game reviews. Just wanted to know if an episode on the new Battlefield 2042 is in the making.
Thanks for the review, Mack. I just dropped the money on this and finished the download. Looking forward to playing when I get home from work.
in Mack we trust... he's never led me astray in what seems like a decade of watching his reviews. now I gotta check to see how long he's been around
for 3 years i follow this channel. not once have i been let down by your opinion.. will buy this game as well, just on your say so... thenx m8
I picked this up in early access a while back, and had great fun with it even then. If it's gotten even better, then ... in my opinion, worth buying if you like base building games and post-apocalyptic settings.
Paradox have alot of really good games, and this looks good aswell.
So much for this channel never playing sponsored reviews
I’m four minutes in Mac, and I’m sold on the game already. Plus I’m a fan of pretty much any Paradox game. It’s fantastic to see Mac get a sponsorship by Paradox. Most developers dislike him, because he doesn’t sugar coat it with bs- he tells you the unvarnished truth.
Great content bro, and a happy new year.
The only completely honest and unbiased game reviewer out there. Thanks Mack!
Good to see you doing sponsored videos, Mack! Keep up the awesome work.
Thanks for re-visiting this!
“Plebs are needed!”
I have been playing on the Xbox One S for about 10 months (early access) now and although at first the performance was really bad, I left it for a couple months and slowly it became really enjoyable and with all the changes and additions it's really become a gem! There really isn't alot of games like this on Xbox and you really lose track of time while playing! It's come so far from the start of the early access and I highly recommend it. ✌️🏴
Cheers mac good to see Paradox reaching out to a top reviewer like yourself.
This game looks to me like it came out of a Frostpunk mold, enriched with many elements.
This game is fantastic! I got it for free on the PS5, and it was so good that I got it for PC with all the DLCs, 100% recommended
Loved the video. Would like to see a review on the gta remasters
He should build a xylophone of bells just for that review and play the intro to San Andreas with the dings.
yes, but poor mack... dont make him go through the experience and waste his money for our entertainment
@@TejMilkMilch
He might still like it since the game mechanics are still there. Compared to modern games it could trick him a bit. O also he said on stream that he is planning to try them since one of them was never on PC.
Reminds me of a really old great game were you lived in a fallout shelter that was super fun MP called
"Visions of Aftermath The Boomtown", very ahead of it's time, very early graphics/sound though.
Nice review, thanks Mack.
Thanks. Bought many of their games and DLC on Steam, because Mac says this game is good.
Thanks Mak'
Looks interesting ,might have to give it a whirl , Cheers .
"Almost 2 years ago in February 2020"
Time flies, holy shit
for real..... i remember watching his first video of this game felt like yesterday
Only 2 years late
And this right here! Is the reason you are the only channel i can be bothered with, when it comes to reviews.
Wow.. I too got this two years ago and did not enjoy it at all. Looks much better now, will have to revisit. Thanks for re-reviewing!
Looking good. Will give it a try. Promise.
Another Paradox production that will spit out 1000s of dollars of tiny DLCs over a few years.
Most likely. I loved HOI4, I have 1500hrs on it but none of the few handpicked DLC I got were worth it. And the game evolved over years into micro-hell.
They tend to overmilk otherwise solid games, at some point you have to focus on a sequel or a new idea/game.
I’m a huge fan of Paradox and after ur initial video I decided to pass on this game, but after this video I think it’ll be my next purchase! Thanks Mack I can always count on you
Paradox: the people who make decent games and apply horrible pricing methods. I wonder why Mack isn't annoyed by that.
Paradox's DLC's result in the deepest and richest grand strategy games ever made. No other developer will be able to even come close to that level of quality without a similar business model. You can't possibly expect to pay fifty/sixty dollars for a game with 5-10 years of developed content. Be reasonable.
They're pricing model is certainly exorbitant. And it is a real problem with their older titles like ck2 which has over $300 of dlc last I checked. For a game over a decade old that just isn't reasonable, but like the other guy said, it's paradox, they're the masters of 4x strategy and no one else comes close. I would definitely not buy all their dlc right away and just pick them up over the years when they go on sale
@@jonhill4070 Well, from my experience the games just get broken without all the majour DLC, exactly because of their complexity.
my only regret is having it on EGS. I love the game, very fun and easy to get into but super challenging on harder difficulties. I played it when it came out and it was still EA, then havent touched it till mac made this video saying its 1.0 release. So, reinstalled and Im not disappointed at all! Its really fun and Im liking it more then Surviving Mars which I really liked!
What about GTA: The DELETED Edition?...
Only found on pirating sites...Because ShitStar decided to stop selling the original games for the mobile to console/PC port and then decided to even remove the new one because they dun goofed...Pretty much meaning that if you're on PC, the ONLY way to play it is to YARR it! Good job ShitStar Gaemz!
R)
@Silvio Balaško Certainly not a beta male like you
Ooo never heard of this, looks right up my alley, great sponsor choice Mac 👍
Looks interesting. Will have to check it out.
Mack is the only guy I would watch a sponsored video.
Surviving the Aftermack.
Agreed about the storage. I remember games like Pharaoh from the 90s where you designated a storage for specific resources and little workers would not only start storing the resources in the designated storage buildings, but would take resources from other storage buildings where they weren't designated and move them to the new storage location. Definitely something that would make the whole storage management more intuitive.
Thanks Mack, I'm giving it a go! Looks fun.
Are you not putting out the cod racism video you said you would?
A true champion of gaming is sir Mack
I completely forgot about this game and it's free on epic next week, can't wait
I was excited too. I played if for a couple hours, and holy smokes it's slow moving.
Hi WorthaBuy, I love your channel both for it's quality and for the fact we have the same taste in games, so thank you.
It seems every time you give a positive review on a game I would like, it's a windows only release.
Could you keep an eye out for something that runs on Linux please?
big worm = the spice must flow
Not played a game like this before, just installing now so here goes 🙏🏻
Hope your arm, leg and face gets better soon mate👍🏻
How is it surviving when you're a floating fucking camera staring at a bunch of structures? Survival in RTS makes no sense
Day r is pretty good if that counts
I'm from the future and: "MACK, DON'T CHASE THE CHAVS!!!"
Awesome vid Mack, you are a legend.
liked & commented - no questions asked!
we don't only enjoy your work, we trust you blindly m8
Seems like a post apocalyptic Tropico... I dig it. Been looking for a new game
One of the best games of that kind in a loooong time
Needing help figuring research out. How do I get tech if the world map says I have to build research outpost first, but dont have tech for that building?
no final verdict? strange
Love Paradox games. Hopefully this will come to console 👍
Available on the Xbox and PS 4 as far as I can see
Game also has great mod support
Looks like a nice game, but knowing Paradox Interactive it’s probably going to have 30% of content in base game and 70% in many DLCs to come over the years.
Cities Skyline…ahem…CK3
Speaking of Paradox games, I still really want to know why Mack deleted his Hearts of Iron 4 review!
great video mack, wish you a great day!
Looks good
Mack are you going to try Dirge? Its an indie game that flopped quite badly in their early access launch, the devs were shocked since apparently they put a lot of work into it. They even had to lower the price by half. Very curious to know if its just not great but not curious enough to drop money to find out lol.
I'm sure the devs would appreciate the publicity, even negative publicity at this point.
I love this game, its got great charm.
I don't like city builders but I love 4X so I think I'll give this a try.
They must be confident in this game sending it to Mack!
I think I'll give this one a try.
Hi Mack, here's a thought, get rid of the filler music while in gameplay and increase the game volume a bit, so we can listen in on the game music and sounds, to me this is a key element for ambience and immersion. Thank you and hopefully you read this.
A lot like EndZone, but on the paper looks like a lot more developed, much more features.
This looks good, I think I'll buy it.
sell out haha at least Paradox appreciate you Mack
Were did the COD vanguard SJW video go?
I don't mind sponsored videos so long as the developer says to you, "Could you review our game?" rather than "Can you advertise our game?" and imply you can't criticise it.
Yeah played this from the first early access. Pretty good game.
$54.99
Dang guys it ain't cheap is it
Most interesting game I've seen in years!
a paradox game , I wonder how much DLC it will have 😔
The game looks fun. Thanks for giving a fair review of the current state of the game even if this is sponsored.
Hey Mack. I am going to tell you a joke:
GTA remestered trilogy.
mmmhh whats the name of the music Mack is using the background of his vids. Would be awsome for studying for example
Love your videos pal !
Great update review Mack. Sponsored but uncompromised. Loving where this game is at now, so will be buying. Would be interested in your view on the 'Ultimate Colony Edition' DLC. This seems overpriced, at almost the same cost as the base game, not appearing to add much. But maybe It'll be worth it after I've a couple hundred hours under my belt.
PS. Looking forward to your review of Halo Infinite. Seems to be well received elsewhere, but there's only a couple of channels I trust.
this is like if the FAA was sponsored by Boing, how do that works? words...
00:33 kinda reminded me of Days Gone...
Notification squad reporting in
They really went with that mobile game aesthetic
So, how does the game let us know we got to the place we are? Was it, "White men ruining everything they touch?" or maybe some weird thing that happened in the universe?
So is it worth a buy?
This went completely under my radar for some reason, looks worth checking out. Great review as usual mate 👍
