The ground is lose and doesn’t have much grip for the ant to hang on. Your wall is stable and won’t cause any problems climbing because it doesn’t have any lose areas.
As a child, I used to spit in the trap which makes that insect to get out of the hole, then I put a thin rope in its neck and put the insect in other one's trap, was so funny
We used to play with these antlions as a kid. They are common in dry, sandy soil around our school building and we would sometimes put insects in those holes or catch some like tiny pets. We call them locally as "baboy-baboy" or "pig-pig" in literal translation which means mini pigs.
imagine insects or other spices made documentaries about human. This race of mammal are capable of creating nuclear weapons that could wipe out all life on Earth. Yes, nature, you scary :p
dude it's just a food chain relationship bc a ant eats a plant and the ant lion eats the lion the dog eats the ant lion the lion eats the dog and we basically eat them later
The ant being dragged down was pretty dramatic as the ant was reaching it’s little legs out for hopes of escaping and them being dragged down completely and even opened it’s jaw as if it were trying to scream and that’s good they exist so the ants don’t invade our business
I remember watching these things when I was a toddler at kindergarten in the sandbox (yes, the staff probably should have been fired) and wondering what it was doing when it kept shooting sand up.
Ohhh I used to watch these build when I was a kid, and I'd drop ants in the trap and just observe them doing their thing. There would be hundreds of these across the road from my house and the sand was super fine, almost dusty. So fascinating
I hate ant lions. They're like campers. They pick off everyone at the least expected moment. They should all be banned from Insect Unknown Battlegrounds.
Its very common in India. Village Kids play with those insects, they know the insect is sitting at the center, they pick it up with some sand and keep it on palm of hands, and when the antlion tries to dig it tickles...... I never knew its a trap and the insects are poisonous until today.
My brother and I would poke the center of the sand trap with matchsticks until the antlion would climb up then we pick em up with our bare hands and put em on the palm of our hands. We would even boast about who would have the most number of antlions. We never thought that they were venomous. We were just toddlers that time, he was 3 and I was 4 years old. Ahhhh... Memories..
XtraTrstrL I once kept three antlions and they all made it into adulthood. The next two batches didn't make it, mostly due to my caregiving errors in the pupal stages.
I would always play with those lil buggers at our backyard. Every morning, I would pick off 5-6 antlions and place them in our sandbox. There I would place some house ants. It's like I'm initiating execution back in Medieval Period.
back those days I remember hunting those antlions with my friends best baits? "Ants" they are cute and squishy creature until I realize they are one of the feared sand monsters in insect world LMAO
I'm pretty sure the trap works solely because the sand crumbles away. The 45 degree incline has 0 to do with it, nor would it be a problem for any Ant to climb such an incline, as all Ant have Arolia in their feet which allows to to stick on any hard surface. This is why you often see Ant's wall on perfectly vertical walls and even upside down on ceilings.
I remember playing with this as a child. Either I bait it with something and pulled them out just to see them in the palm of my hands or... I soak the area with water. 😅😅
I swear I have killed so many antlion larvae/s. I use to scoop a sand in my hand then place the creature on it and feel the vibration as it dug down. It is so cringy because I never knew it had venoms which could have had harmed me.
Tgis would make a great movie: Ant:*falls* ow i got to get out. Antlion: *throws sand* *epic music starts* *ant tries to run* Ant: please bo i beg if you dont i have a family. Antlion: you fell in to my trap you shsll now die *throws more sand* *ant falls slowly* Ant: please nooo- *ant paralized* *antlion eats it slowly* *chicking and death noices*
Despite this making me itch like crazy, it's so awesome that they got this on camera. Such fascinating little critters!
SorrowfulM // MapleStory Veteran looks like it's shot in a studio. Lighting doesn't seem natural
I think it's just poor color grading and an uneven (exposure) curve.
that was the ants first vacation in twenty years
They were 48 hours from retiremant.
At 1:08 it stops to groom its antennae like a jock taking out his comb in a horror movie.
They can only live for a few weeks but i like the embelishment you did
One thing I had always wondered as a child…how the heck do these guys get their camera shots?

Little John your right if ants Canada had these all the ants be dead by now
lol u know that channel too? it's an awesome channel btw xD
It’s like a Sarlac pit for ants
45 degree walls supposedly makes it impossible for ants to climb. Tell that to the line of ants i saw marching across the 90 degree wall in my house.
Kevin Ng it's 45 degrees of sand not 45 degrees of solid ground you fool
Gang gang NiBBer squad
True, but I'm pretty sure that was a joke.
Crunchy Jaws the joke was poorly made, and lacking cleverness and continuity. 3/10 joke
The ground is lose and doesn’t have much grip for the ant to hang on. Your wall is stable and won’t cause any problems climbing because it doesn’t have any lose areas.
Gang gang NiBBer squad r/woooosh
Wow digging that hole must be life or death for the antlion. It seems to take a lot of energy
We used to hunt this guys when we were in elementary. Didn't know they are enemies of the ants
This was legit one of the most terrifying things i've ever seen
its like a real sarlack pit lmfao
thats what i was thinking QUICK SOMEBODY GET A TINY BOBA FATT
when I was a kid, i used to dig sand for antlions.😂 I dunno why but I find them fascinating😂😂😂
Those quick minute movements it makes and the way it kicks sand is so funny to me.😂
As a child, I used to spit in the trap which makes that insect to get out of the hole, then I put a thin rope in its neck and put the insect in other one's trap, was so funny
Antlion, you're so metal.
*Ant gives a thumbs up as it sinks under*
I'm glad that thing only hunts ants.
We used to play with these antlions as a kid. They are common in dry, sandy soil around our school building and we would sometimes put insects in those holes or catch some like tiny pets. We call them locally as "baboy-baboy" or "pig-pig" in literal translation which means mini pigs.
In what part of the world?
philippines
Trapinch?
LOL
yes
Oh yeah!
Yes, and also the Sarlacc.
And if you look at the adult form it'll help understand Trapinch's evolution line
The ant:
"I can show you the world....shining, shimmering, splend-..." 🎶
Freya! Odin! Help! 🤣
Nat. Geo.: "This antlion builds a spiraling death trap"
Junji Ito: *takes notes*
Imagine if that thing were huge and ate bears or other large animals... That would be so scary 😨
who else here finds ants to purposely throw them into antlion pits?
Juniel the gamer Me, its very entertaining to watch.
Andre TheBeast ikr
Plus, they’re fed! Win win for everyone! Except the ant, obviously, but that just makes it win win lose!
I raise my own I feed them beeetles ants etc

Nature.. you scary
imagine insects or other spices made documentaries about human. This race of mammal are capable of creating nuclear weapons that could wipe out all life on Earth. Yes, nature, you scary :p
Bryanzebox we are scary
Thanks god that we're human, the toppest of food chain
dude it's just a food chain relationship bc a ant eats a plant and the ant lion eats the lion the dog eats the ant lion the lion eats the dog and we basically eat them later
it's not like your cute I'm gonna spare you and not eat you
Ahh I remember those days, I used to catch one of those when I was young , they're harmless though
The ant being dragged down was pretty dramatic as the ant was reaching it’s little legs out for hopes of escaping and them being dragged down completely and even opened it’s jaw as if it were trying to scream and that’s good they exist so the ants don’t invade our business
"Hello ant....I want to play a game"
Ok, what kind of weak climbers are these ants? The ants that raid my house go straight up vertical walls.
basically the bermuda triangle but for ants
When it throws the sand the scratch sound FX its funny hahaha!
I have been raising those for three years straight i actually study insects and the funny thing is , those can only move backwards.
And also the giraffe or thread ant lion is crazy compared to the eastern ant lion
I remember watching these things when I was a toddler at kindergarten in the sandbox (yes, the staff probably should have been fired) and wondering what it was doing when it kept shooting sand up.
the ant was washing itself because someone picked it up
I loved those things as a kid.
1:59 *Under Taker* (WWE)😂😂
Grounded brought me here.
I just realized when I watched this video that those cute holes they're making are traps hahaha cute

@@panqueque3441 hollow knight reference
I’ll get the admin tarantulas, don’t fear.
So basically it’s a sarlaac pit for ants
I came here to see ants run around in a circle and eventually die.
We got this under our cottage at Slovakia
Plot twist: the cameraman put/throw ants deliberately into antlion's trap.
Best Horror Movie for ants 🐜 👍🏼
Its very common in India. Village Kids play with those insects, they know the insect is sitting at the center, they pick it up with some sand and keep it on palm of hands, and when the antlion tries to dig it tickles......

That's one creepy trap. But classic since I've seen it mostly in oldest movies
No ants are harmed in the making of this video
It’s basically a Sarlacc Pit
We used to hunt Antlions when we were kids and put them into an aquarium and keep as non-domestic pets. I missed my childhood
These ants need cactus armor!

I was just showing my nephew one he was really entertained
Which are showed in the video (eastern) (ant lions)
This is where ant Jabba took ant Luke and ant Han for their ant execution
My brother and I would poke the center of the sand trap with matchsticks until the antlion would climb up then we pick em up with our bare hands and put em on the palm of our hands. We would even boast about who would have the most number of antlions. We never thought that they were venomous. We were just toddlers that time, he was 3 and I was 4 years old.
Ahhhh... Memories..
So what if like 5 ants fall at the same time? will they pull out the ant lion?
The antlion would burrow one or two, then let the others go, but it depend of the antlion personality
Half Life 2 Anyone?
Im glad they dont get that big in real life!!
+cutiekazoe10
Yeah, and real antlions aren't eusocial.
The old 1985 movie Enemy Mine. I remember dropping ants in those little dunes and catching these when I was little.
XtraTrstrL
I once kept three antlions and they all made it into adulthood. The next two batches didn't make it, mostly due to my caregiving errors in the pupal stages.
Yes!

I wonder if ants can feel helpless and hopeless
This is where my foot comes in handy
Ugh what a sad way to go
these are really cool
back those days I remember hunting those antlions with my friends best baits? "Ants" they are cute and squishy creature until I realize they are one of the feared sand monsters in insect world LMAO

I used to pick up ants and drop them in antlion pits when i was a child.
A nice ant smoothie
I suddenly remembered the creepy bobbit worm.
When i was a kid, i catch fly and give to ant lion.. Miss my childhood memory
They forgot to mention the size of the hole is directly related to the size of the antlion, bigger hole means a bigger antlion
Interesting video😊
I'm pretty sure the trap works solely because the sand crumbles away. My childhood...playing with antlion by touching its antena to make it goes backward...
Yo this might be I favorite insect. So cool
OK now imagine this but with the pov of an ant
Frickin horrifying
I swear I have killed so many antlion larvae/s. I use to scoop a sand in my hand then place the creature on it and feel the vibration as it dug down. It is so cringy because I never knew it had venoms which could have had harmed me.

Imagine if human sized ones existed
This reminds me of step brothers. LET THE DIRT SHOWER OVER YOU.
have tons of these at the side of my house. if you tap the side of the antlion thing lightly with a twig it might come out. :)
Tgis would make a great movie:
Ant:*falls* ow i got to get out.
Antlion: *throws sand*
*epic music starts* *ant tries to run*
Ant: please bo i beg if you dont i have a family.
Antlion: you fell in to my trap you shsll now die *throws more sand*
*ant falls slowly*
Ant: please nooo-
*ant paralized*
*antlion eats it slowly*
*chicking and death noices*
The greatest enemies of all Antlions in the Philippines are The Batang 80s and 90s. Hahahahahaha
i suspect that the spiral (followed by the antlion) is perfect because it might be following a golden ratio
Anyone feel itchy
I live in the Tri-Cities and I see antlion Hills everywhere in sand
my guy went in with only ant armour tsk tsk...
imagine you're that ant....
the fact is we can eat antlion insects because they contain many vitamins that can eliminate seizures and strokes
I like this guy's voice
