Built the RG Johnny Ridden's Zaku last year and agree with everything you pointed out. The kit looks fantastic but it's definitely one to decide how you want it posed and glue in place. Those little squares on the front of the chest and the front skirts feel like they'll pop off if I breathe too heavily.
The hi-zack as well? (Can’t wait for Bandai to milk the hi-zack with its other variations that is mentioned or not in the manga, anime and lore with the hg, rg, mg, pg when they noticed it and actually gave a crap about the grunt suit and not just the pg gundams nowadays)

The RG hands bugged me because I knew I've send the hands somewhere before and the RG hands are just small a version of the over old MG hands from the early days of the MG line (minus the peg for the weapons).

People keep forgetting these are not figures, theyre model kits. Being an early RG and having a bit of a iffy frame shouldnt deterr you from getting one, as they werent meant to be moved like a figure.
Minelayer = auto buy! Lol, I smartly pre-ordered from the US P-Bandai site. If there is an argument to see a 2.0 RG for some of these delicate older kits, the RG Zakus would be the ones ... and it’s always a good day when Zach builds a Zaku 😉
My girlfriend just bought me an RG Zaku II for Christmas, and I am dreading it. I'm sure it will be great....when it's done. But the build...ugh, those pipe sections are terrifying. I think the only thing I'm not too sure about when it comes to OG real grades is that spindly inner frame. I'm glad it's there, and I'm glad it's ABS plastic, but it just looks like such a break risk. I just wish they had beefed up the frame joints a little bit to be more like its master grade counterpart, and these would probably be incredible kits.
Um ... you can check other types of model kits ... I'm curious about the Titan from Honkai Impact 3 because because it's so few have reviewed the kit So that means ... this is a request ...

I remember being a little kid, on vacation in North carolina, and stopping by a small comic book store that happened to sell gun club and someone had painted a beautiful looking zaku mine layer that I wanted so badly. I hate the RG zaku kit with a passion but I might try and find this
the initial advertised colors looked more warm and interesting, the final/actual colors aren't bad but less compelling. I had the same xp with striker gn-x
This kit had a rerelase on the P Bandai store a few months ago. I kind of regret not getting it now. It would have looked good alongside my Origin Zakus.
I built the Uma Lightning’s Zaku last Christmas, that’s a greater and cooler kit than the minelayer I reckon, and it came with water slide decals, although the colour scheme of uma’s seems a bit childish for some people

Picked up the mg and its waiting in my massive backlog. The back pack is the main reason id pick this one up. I know the mg zaku is a great kit but i think its time for a 3.0 or origin mg zaku

I just love the aesthetics of the RG zakus. The color separation and surface detail along with that glossy plastic gives it such a nice look.

the real grade zakus looks so good, but after i broke the hip joint a day after built mine I gave up on them . Nearly put me off of all real grades XD

I think the old RG's need a MG style 2.0 treatment, the pre-built inner frames is the weakness.

After building both the RX-78 and the Zaku RG kits somewhat recently, the Zaku is still the better one. Not by much, but still better
When the monochrome top came off, I was expecting the plastic to be monochrome too fully knowing tbats how P-Bandai boxes are colored.
