@@dgas5904 yo you might want to chill down. I just want to have some conversation by sharing what I know, and you’re just gonna disregard it because you assume it came from the wiki? I always felt the Zeong was an underappreciated mobile suit. The 70s aesthetic isn't for everyone, but it does have a menacing presence about it and in canon was a monster. Glad to hear the RG treatment is good!
For me it’s the YMS-06Z Psycommu Early Test Type Zaku. Looks a lot like an Efreet due to the head design but has detachable remote control mega particle canons. Sadly there’s no model for it from what I’ve seen but there is art for it. Pretty cool looking
I used to think the Zeong was pretty dumb looking but once I grabbed this kit, my sentiments changed. I really love how it's not just another Zaku or Gundam swap with some sort of gimmick. It does things that other mobile suits don't. Legs aside, it's aesthetically different. Very different and I've come to appreciate the very old school 1950s/60s sci-fi robot look.
The design of the head and torso really suggest that the Zeong is designed with 'up' as a primary axis of movement driven the by the leg replacement thrusters, as opposed to usually standing on legs. So while the overall project would no doubt supposed to be making a legged version too, it kind of seems like we're looking a dedicated space superiority Zeong variant that is supposed to use giant vectored thrusters to outmaneuver other suits in microgravity, as opposed to a hasty retrofit since the legs weren't ready. A greyish primary color with red, blue, and yellow sections also makes seem like the Zeon Gundam.
I bought this thing on a whim and DAMN it slaps. It’s becoming my favorite build and kit so far because of how unique and outlandish it is compared to yet another Gundam.
I'm hard pressed not to call this kit-of-the-year already - I'm in luv, and really affirms RG's status of late. Agree with you Zach that any RG coming out is now at a fantastic engineering standard. For me, the Force Impulse was a meh Gundam for my personal tastes, but man the RG did a 180 on my opinion. Simply stellar kit OOTB and now a big fan of the Impulse design. Can't help but dream of RG Kampfer, GP02a, Gelgoog's, Gouf's (a Flight Type RG would amazeballs), Gerbera Tetra, Zaku III, GMs, The O, Marasai, Xeku Eins, heck even Barbatos.... and of course, the Dom ;) ps - it's time for RG Zaku II 2.0 tbh, and I'd also say to Bandai, please redo Thunderbolt in RG, it'd be an ideal small scale format for those designs too
this is by far one of the best looking gundam models, and how chunky and layered he is just adds to that quality what a great gundam i only own him and sazabi but i do love the chunky ones, its definitely much better having the accessories
i used to built these kits 20years ago. now i just bought new one a sd cleopatra and it took me 1hour 40mins. i felt connected so i bought this RG Zeong and start wondering how long it gonna take me to finish it.
It finally happened, Bandai made an RG that I feel like I want to buy. The other ones either had decent 1/100 scale versions or I just didn't care at all for the MS itself, but this one... This thing looks so much better than the MG in every aspect that if I had to choose I'd go with it, even if the scale is smaller than I like.
for me it isnt about the lack of legs. its the rounded (front butt) skirt. had it has more angular skirt i'd prolly like it more. heck i liked it above the waist
The design looks a little wonky, but this RG is so unique it makes me want it more. However, I would probably cut down the horns to streamline it a bit.
I don't know if it's a good Kit.. I just ordered it and still waiting for it. My first RG too. The Design of Zeong is very odd.. But I really love the this RG version of Zeong. My choice's are RG Sazabi, RG Nu and Hi Nu.. Also RG God Gundam... But Zeong really shine for me..
I kinda like the design - except the mouth area. If I ever got the kit I would have to fill it in and paint it to make the face plate just a solid piece.
It's a great kit for sure, but I'm going for the Sazabi instead. I do agree though, that recent RGs, this included, are really something else. Are you getting the new RG Eva?
These are available in Canada at $100 CND each; I can get 4 HG kits for that much. It's the stickers, though; why can't RG kits have good waterslides? Probably not buying this.
Never liked the Zeong, always thought it looked dorky af. But this RG design really made it look good. RG has really surpassed the MG line in terms of details. Other than size, there's no reason to buy a MG anymore
@@ZakuAurelius ohhhh sorry for the misunderstanding. My thought was since they sponsor they also help send kits over for review, my apologies and still looks like a beautiful kit and can't wait for mine!
I'm really not a fan of how the RG line clutters these great classic designs with tons of extraneous greebles and markings. This doesn't look as bad as some - like the MK II, but the skirt is a mess in my opinion. I would love to have some nice 1/144 scale kits of old school designs that have the articulation and color separation of RGs, but without the forced conformity to modern design trends that they weren't initially designed with in mind. I would almost be willing to grab a kit like this and modify it so to restore it to something closer to the original.
All in all, I'm sure this is a great kit, with all kinds of gimmicks and details. But what really threw me off is that no-legs crippled look. And under the skirt, you can indeed see two "stumps" with red thrusters in them, as if this guy used to have legs.
"I don't really like the Zeong all that much."
