Slash is phenomenal. Sadly, Izzy never got the credit he deserved for being a great rhythm guitarist. Thankfully Slash always acknowledged him.

@@kerenolivero7097 Fans, Metalheads and fellow Hard Rock & Metal musicians alike will always praise and give Izzy the credit he so richly deserves. But I remember the Metal magazines of the 1980s. Circus, RIP, Metal Edge, Rock Beat and even Rolling Stone rarely, if ever, mentioned Izzy. It was the same on MTV.

I grew up in the 80s and there was a lot of trash.
The highs were high but hair metal was terrible.

@@johnohrstrom5112 Each decade has a lot of trash. The 70s produced a genre so hated that it accumulated into a demolition night, while the 90s gave way to boy band dominance. Compared to those two, hair metal would seem like it came from Mozart.

Slash is just unreal. He’s so great at phrasing, building tension, working towards that explosive FIRE crescendo, etc. Amazing.
Add to that his tone and how it sits in the mix. He uses the bass pickup to start to create that “full & round” sound, then switches to the treble pickup and gets that amazing, cutting tone. Just brilliant.
Sweet Child, Paradise City, and Welcome to the Jungle are all from the same album “Appetite for Destruction” (1987; their first album & the best-selling debut album of all time) & November Rain is from the album “Use Your Illusion I” (1991).

Love Axl’s vocals and Slash is so amazingly talented. But theirs a band here. Duff’s base and Izzy’s rhythm are stunning, while accompanying Slash’s solo. Honestly, I don’t agree that a guitar solo is truly a solo, when there are 3 guitars. IMO!!! Although, Steven wasn’t their drummer much after the first album, Steven was a huge part of the heartbeat of the band. But most of all, they all sing back up vocals. Their concerts were jammed with music and it was nonstop. You will find most successful bands have at least five members. Lead guitar and base but the rhythm guitar or keyboard complete the finesse of the track. Journey, Def Leppard, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Skid Row…. The list goes on. There are live versions of all the GNR songs you’ve done. My generation had radio and concerts. Live performance was crucial to a band’s credibility. No auto tune, no lip sync. Just sheer talent. In this regard, my generation was the luckiest ever. Rock, Pop, Old School Rap, New Wave, Punk, Folk…. 60s, 70s and 80s ruled music and always will.

I played this as part of a band, just once, it was the only gig I ever played lead as due to a bunch of things we all ended up going our separate ways after, and I switched to playing drums. So, my first gig as lead and I'm up front playing this alone for that first bar (terrifying) before the band comes in, and concentrating fearsomely to keep the cadence, and let the notes ring out. It was the best thing ever! Except I screwed the solo up, grabbed a handful of strings, lost where I was and just improvised and hoped for the best. Turns out I was the only one who noticed, the discordant screech when I messed up they took as me launching the solo 🤣 Love this song, loved playing it, I hope the music gods forgive me for messing the solo up.

You really should do “Coma” but with lyrics, it shows how amazing Axl is as a songwriter

Allot of people don't know Axl Rose has the widest vocal range in music . He has a 5 octave range . Just crazy .

Fun fact of the day: Axel Rose has an outstanding vocal range where he can sing lower than Barry White and almost as high as Mariah Carey, I believe he is within the F1-Bb6 range... just nuts.

In the late ‘80s, early’90s when I was going out a lot, there were really only 3 rock bands’ songs that made it onto the rotation with R&B and EDM songs in the dance clubs and those were this song, “Sweet Child o’ Mine”, “You Shook Me All Night Long” by AC/DC and “Pour Some Sugar on Me” by Def Leppard. The whole club used to go crazy when these got played.
You need to react to “Paradise City” by Guns N’ Roses, next.

The video edit shortened the intro, which doesn't make sense. "November Rain" is a million years long (as well as "Estranged"), so they could have given us a proper version of this by now. But it _is_ GN'R, so a full-length video will likely only be available after the apocalypse.
For Axl's vocal shenanigans, "Locomotive" is a good track - you need to wait 'til the end though, where his vocals are all layered.
Also, "Sweet Child..." is about Axl's ex-wife Erin Everly, who makes a longer, uh, appearance in the "It's So Easy" video.

Loved that album and those days. I was no longer a kid and had freedom and had met the girl who would be my soulmate wife for 31 years until her passing and leaving me alone here.. We loved the music and lived the times. The people at the record store said I looked like Axl back then. Guess I did with my long straw color hair, bandannas, and cigarettes and sunglasses. Wasn't trying to look like anyone. lol. Before that it was Kevin Bacon . 19 when this song came out and skinny as Axl. Now 54 and got my dad's belly trying to show up and set foundations. Course Axl got his too :)
