Duff and Izzy don't get enough credit for what they added to the band. Slash is amazing, and Axl is, well, Axl, but Duff brings that punk ethos that distinguished them from other LA scene bands and Izzy brings that Stones influenced roots rock vibe that takes them up a level. "Dust N Bones" and "14 Years" are two of the most underrated songs in their catalogue.
Axl’s voice in this era was just perfect. Could hit every note and was always right on, but had that wonderful “gravel-y” roughness that’s just perfect for rock n roll.
Almost ANYTHING off of their very 1st Album is a total BANGER! Mr.BrownStone, My Michelle, Paradise City, etc… And So many more. “You Could Be Mine” was used as soundtrack for Terminator 2. Guys it’s all out there. Take your pick and let’s have some fun!! REALLLLY love you two.

I remember being in the 4th grade and our substitute teacher for 3 months would always end every weekly music lesson with this song. Greatest substitute teacher and greatest 3 months in the 4th grade ever! 😎👍💯
Thats awesome but 4th grade hahaha...I was 23 when this came out! You did indeed have a cool teacher & I am glad I had some cool ones in the '70s & early '80s ✌💖☮
No other band has the energy and power of Guns N Roses for me, Slash's licks and solos are just too good, without doubt my favourite band ever, I saw them live in London last summer, it was amazing!
Paradise city incapsulates everything great about gnr. The chemistry was off the charts. The instrumental switch ups with exciting and energetic. Axl sounds amazing as always along with Slash shredding the hell out of the final solo. Stevens signature drums adds a swing to the beat and duff and Izzy complimenting Slash in the background brings the song together. Appetite for Destruction was peak rock
Saw them in 1990. Axl and the band were about 2 hours late to come to on stage. The crowd was getting restless and getting crazier by the minute. They hit the stage around 11pm and walked off around 1:30ish or so… they blew the roof off that arena…. One of my best concerts along with Metallica…. The whole Appetite for Destruction is a banger for sure… one of rock’s greatest debut albums on my list….. Great reaction guys…. Love watching you guys rocking out and appreciating great rocking music 🎶!!!!!
Every and I mean every single song of appetite for destruction is great. Welcome to the jungle thru rocket queen. There’s a reason it is the best selling debut rock album of ALL TIME. It is timeless.
The black and white parts were at the monsters of rock festival at Castle Donnington in England massive crowd for the 80s and the colour parts were in new york
The end of the 80s hairbands was always contributed to the seattle grundge era but it was really guns and roses that killed it.the alice and chains and nirvana, and pearl jam came in shortly after.
I was fortunate enough to be at that show. I was a junior in HS. The color parts were from the old Giants Stadium in New Jersey. They opened for Deep Purple and Aerosmith. It was one helluva show! I recall Axl telling everyone they were filming a video for this next song before launching into it. The crowd went ape shit crazy! good times...
My favorite song is “Sweet Child Of Mine “. Every time I hear it, it takes me back to the best time of my life. I told my family that I want it and “Free Bird” played at my funeral!!!!
They end every concert with paradise city but never the exact same way, such a high energy song and they dont have to hold anything back for it, they extend it as to how the crowd reaction is
She was already doing the Axl Rose head shakin the first seconds in 🤘😆 Never caught them in the 80s or anything till a couple years ago here in Portland and Slash just killed it. Watching him play on big screen he never missed a note , unbelievable. And it was a long set
This song was their last song every show. Axl and Slash both ran around like crazy people for a period of time where they both had security guy’s that had to follow them around the stage. There is some hilarious video of the poor security guys trying to keep up. There is also footage of Slash being tackled on stage by a crazy fan and for the most part he keeps on going 😂
They are the biggest rock band in my lifetime at their peak...from 88-92 they were by far the biggest band in the world....I wasn't around for the Beatles but they had that kind of fame in that 5 year period....in was GNR mania....
Can you imagine the adrenaline rush these guys must get from strutting like badasses across the stage being the center of attention? it must really message their egos. 😂
Excellent reaction guys ... Sam just wins the dance off because of the head band, long hair and air guitar at the end 😆🤘... Guns N' Roses just headlined Glastonbury Festival in the UK last Saturday night ... 'Sweet Child of Mine' when you get chance, thanks
The black and white footage of this video was filmed at the monsters of rock festival in the UK and i was there at the front of the stage, a 120,000 plus people there and when Guns come on everyone tried to push to the front and sadly two fans lost their lives. Being at the front and seeing how crazy it was im surprised it was only two, we spent the whole time passing people over our heads for medical attention. Axl at one point stopped the show and asked everyone to take a couple of steps back as he could see what was happening. Because of the deaths the festival was cancelled the next year and when it to come back it was limited to 72,000 people.
It all started off Axls hatred of the media when Uk tabloids blamed G N R for the deaths even though everyone knew that the ground conditions were to blame 120k people in a farmers field after it rained, recipe for disaster when a crush srarts. Some even said they tried to incite a riot i wasnt there but id heard that Axl stopped the show more than once to tell people to take a step back .
@@mairyhuff7102 He stopped it a couple of times and asked everyone to move back. I will say it's not a farmers field, it is held in the middle of a race track. It is on the grass and it does get muddy in the rain but that happens every year as it always seemed to rain for that festival. The same thing happened when i seen Motley Crue at Donington back in 1991 but thankfully nobody lost their lives but i was surprised they didn't. Again the same thing, fans pushing to get to the front and those in the front having no place to go, thats why you now see barriers half way back at a lot of the big festivals to stop those at the front getting crushed if they do start pushing.
I was lucky enough to catch GnR opening for Judas Priest and KISS in 1988 at a 'Monsters of Rock' concert in Donington, UK when I was stationed in Germany!!! Along with another 200k + people!! They blew everyone away except maybe for KISS, only because that's when Bruce Kulick(lead guitar) and Eric Carr - RIP(drums) were in the band, during their "Crazy Nights" tour!!! The next year, GnR were headlining "Monsters of Rock" tours!!! Got to see them again in '89, this time headlining another "Monsters of Rock" tour in Germany!!! It's actually amazing if you know that SLASH wasn't the "original" lead guitarist in the band. It was Tracii Guns, hence the band's name "'Guns' N' Roses". Axel Rose was actually the lead singer of ANOTHER band Tracii Guns had formed, "L. A. Guns". When Tracii left "GnR" and went back to "L. A. Guns", Slash stepped in, and Axel left "L. A. Guns", for "GnR." Phil Lewis replaced Axel Rose in "L. A. Guns." And History was made when 'Appetite For Destruction' became the largest selling debut album of ALL TIME, still to this day!!!
Yes and the Blonde Bassist is Duff McKagan and the other guy is Izzy Stradlin I think from back then, well between '85 and '91 anyway! Otherwise if it's after 2002 then it will be Richard Fortus, or Paul Tobias between '94 and 2002
2nd part of the vid shows you the Donington Festival , UK. One of the large events here in Europe every year.. The Energy, oh my... I miss the good ol days. :D
Yesterdays, Knocking on heaven's door, Civil War, and more overlooked but also great solo wise don'T damn me.. and many more worth it. Other bands may have had more albums in their equally long career but gnr defo had lots of bangers on each.
When they were playing their set in England in '88 (2nd half of this video), 2 people were trampled to death near the front of the stage during GnR's set. They didn't know anyone had died until after the show. =(
You two sure took a bold step to debut your channel and I love it. Great material for your first year. I can't wait to see which bands you react to in your second year and beyond. Good luck moving forward.
Like i said when you react to Nirvana, teen spirit. This is one of the songs that changed the whole music climate. It was so different and energetic compared to all comersial "hair metal bands" at that time. This felt so real, so genuin. Rock n roll straight from the heart 🤘
According to a former band member paradise city was Lake Geneva Wisconsin. The grass is green were all the golf courses the girls are pretty was the Playboy Club. Axl Rose owned a house there across the lake from where I used to live. Lake Geneva is home to many famous stars including the creator of dungeons and dragons. It's definitely a Paradise City!
Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the conspirators.. Anastasia live from Sydney.. slash side project ( 10 years and still going) .. great singer and this song has great guitar work
Things don't get much better than this song, forgetting Axl interrupting the intro, this song has t have the best intro of all time, Axl was right on point with the way he sang it, and as for Slash and his solo's, nothing compares to them, all in all this has to be one of the greatest tracks of all time
This is my favorite GnR song and favorite video by them. Rocket Queen is also awesome. The whole Appetite for Destruction is an iconic album, one of the best ever.
Slash was already a rock legend when Axl and G&R came along - they made a great match. You can find Slash playing with some of the all-time greats of Rock.
Fun fact about the writing of the lyrics : Slash started humming a melody when Axl Rose sang, "Take me down to the Paradise City." Slash chimed in with "Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty." Rose sang the first line again, where Slash shouted out "Where the girls are fat and they've got big t*tt*es." Finally they choosed the first version 🤘(I wonder if they register the other version haha)
What’s amazing is they are currently on tour or were in 23 with Front man Axl rose , slash on the guitar so they are still going and I was a huge fan of them in my teens which I was a big rock n roll fan but I listen to all kinds of music
So hard to believe you could grow up and not have heard this. They were everywhere in the early 90s/late 80s. I wasn’t that old, but had older cousins who tried to dress like them and everything! Haha. Anyways, you’re probably both 12-15 years younger than me, so missed this time.
I saw them live in a small indoor venue that held probably 5000 people and all their equipment was set up really for outdoor stadium performances. Loudest rock concert I have ever attended BUT it was perfectly clear with no distortion, every bass note or hit on the kick drum you feel the soundwaves hitting your skin. That show they were about an hour and a half late showing up (which such actions was part of the beginning of their downfall) but they put on a hell of a show. Slash and his rifts were a big part of the bands success never understood why after GNR he was never really a force in a rock band afterwards. I would have to rate it solidly in the top 5 of concerts I ever saw and I went to a bunch that covered performances by many of the top rock bands from the 60's, 70's and 80's!
Great job with your reaction and thoughts on The Song Paradise City from Guns and Roses . This was one of those Live video with studio Recording session for the Vocals and instruments.
I was in high school when Appetite for Destruction came out. Been a fan of GNR ever since. Y'all need to add this to your workout playlist. Also add Queen's One Vision.
That was in giants stadium in New Jersey when they were opening for Aerosmith very early on in career.. Could you imagine guns and roses and Aerosmith? That'd be a freakin amazing concert!
My favourite GnR song is Sweet Child of Mine... but this one is a close second, that being said, anything from Appetite For Destruction is a solid banger.
never heard before...that's a like.. there are songs (or at least their main melodies) that everybody knows, like this one, or we are the champion, or the final countdown etc etc
We don't talk enough about Duff Mc Kagan's incredible bass on this track
right on ✌💖☮
i was just going to say that !!! Duff the bass player is all over this song (and record) a very good recording.
Duff should be in the convo about s tier metal/rock bassists; but is so overlooked. Izzy and Dizzy were/are also fundamental to G'n'R
At this point in most bands people always talks about drums and guitar but sometimes never focused on bass
Axl’s voice in this era was just perfect. Could hit every note and was always right on, but had that wonderful “gravel-y” roughness that’s just perfect for rock n roll.
guns'n'roses will forever be the best music can offer for me.

Now you have to do their biggest hit - Sweet Child O Mine.

Sweet child o mine will complete the Appetite for Destruction trifecta
