  • This video by Geetha M Kanthasamy talks about, what is Prana and what are the five pranas that work on various functional systems of our body. Prana influences our mind and fuels our system at the physical level, energy level and mental level. Prana is available everywhere, But most of the time we are not able to absorb that prana into our system in abundance. Yogic practices helps one to absorb prana from the universe and once absorbed, it manifests as five different kinds of vayu, to take care of various functions in our body mind complex. Like how you hava an organization running with different departments, Prana divides and functions as 5 different vayus called pancha prana. So when we have a specific problem such as chest infection, indigestion, constipation, we know which Prana to work on. Each and every asana or pranayama practices in Yoga influences one or two pranas. Watch the video to understand all about it in detail.

Hi Geetha Mam. My curiosity is to understand our human body as mentioned in vedas and ancient text, hence I use to watch so many videos on TH-cam. Today I came across your video and belive me I feeling like I found exactly what I am searching for over many months. You explained so beautifully and most important is you gave the manufacturing unit department example for this video which make this video more understandable for person like me and anyone. Thank you very much for such informative and easily understandable crucial information of Pranas. Keep it up.

Idiotic if u take Prana as the air u breathe it has to concern with air not yoga... Physical exercise has got nothing to do with air... Try concentrating on air for ur food... Wr do u take ur food from ur mouth so take air through mouth to digest it bot in large quantities as more 02 is required to digest each gm of food atleast 2 litres so rest is normal breathe and eat as much as required u don't have to overdo any thing if u overdo food.. U hardly require actually 500gms per day suffices for a person of 70 kg or 600 g for 100kg person remember 1 gm food 2 litres o2 so calculate the food according to ur capacity to take 02 not air Prana means what the word is it does not mean energy enerfy comes from digested food okay

Valuable and informative video, so well presented. Much appreciated! Prana is called Chi in Chinese, on which is based routines such as Chi Kung and Tai Chi. I have learned to combine the graceful relaxed moves of Chi Kung with my Yoga practice. I guess I can call it a kind of Vinyasa (Vin-yaa-sa) practice, which is a relaxed, beautiful, flowing practice. Whereas I found Iyengar Yoga to be rigid, lacking the charm of flow. I call such a yoga practice, "constipated yoga." :)
One other thing: I really liked how you said that Apana Vayu affects the mind and when weak, makes it stagnate and not expel negative thoughts. Well said! Yes, we tend to accumulate garbage (sh*t to be blunt) :) in our minds, impairing our ability to progress spiritually. And that mental garbage leads to foul language too. We need to flush that garbage out!!! Thanks again so very much!
